Os X Server 10.6.5 Server Admin iChat not Editable
Hello All,
I upgraded my server to the most recent release 10.6.5. Previously my Ichat (or so I thought) was set correctly and we modifiable in Server Admin. ONce I updated all fields are greyed out and un-editable. I tried to reinitialize the plist with the PlistBuddy option suggested in this forum with no success.
Here is the output to changeip -checkhostname
bash-3.2$ sudo changeip -checkhostname
Password:
Primary address = 192.168.1.210
Current HostName = appleXserver.local
The DNS hostname is not available, please repair DNS and re-run this tool.
dirserv:success = "success"
This is obviously wrong. appleXerver.local is the local name of the server. This was working before the update. In server admin it shows that 192.168.1.210 resolves to server.679ave.com. (FDNQ) as it should.
The name server that the primary zone 679ave.com. points to is dns.679ave.com.
Any suggestions? Why did this change (did I have a bug to begin with?).
ok figured out the dns problem...looks like in the system preferences the dns wasn't setup after the update. now sudo changeip -checkhostname gives
bash-3.2$ sudo changeip -checkhostname
Password:
Primary address = 192.168.1.210
Current HostName = server.679ave.com
DNS HostName = server.679ave.com
The names match. There is nothing to change.
dirserv:success = "success"
bash-3.2$
now sudo serveradmin settings jabber gives
bash-3.2$ sudo serveradmin settings jabber
Password:
jabber:s2sRestrictDomains = no
jabber:authLevel = "ANYMETHOD"
jabber:savedChatsLocation = "/var/jabberd/message_archives"

jabber:logLevel = "ALL"
jabber:sslCAFile = "/etc/certificates/server.679ave.com.7C3ACC0386ADFDE3A70C53C861BFA1BC85281421.c hain.pem"
jabber:requireSecureS2S = no
jabber:serviceMode = "ALL"
jabber:savedChatsArchiveInterval = 7
jabber:jabberdDatabasePath = "/private/var/jabberd/sqlite/jabberd2.db"
jabber:hosts:arrayindex:0 = "server.679ave.com"

bash-3.2$

Stop managed server without node manager and admin server
What are the commonly used ways to stop managed Weblogic server without node manager running and without administration server running?
(I have only one solution: on the managed server startup dump process ID to a file, and then when I want to stop it, send a signal to this process ID and kill JVM. But it seems not very clean way.)
(The managed server is started when both node manager and admin server are down, and I provide boot.properties of admin server to the managed server to start.)
UPDATED: And I don't want to start neither admin server, nor node manager even temporarily.
Edited by: user12163080 on Jun 24, 2010 4:40 AMHai,
I read the Oracle weblogic wlst script document without Admin server you cannot connect the managed server through the WLST script. see the below lines
"The start command starts Managed Servers or clusters in a domain using Node Manager.
To use the start command, WLST must be connected to a running Administration Server.
To start Managed Servers without requiring a running Administration Server, use the
nmStart command with WLST connected to Node Manager."
"You shut down a server to which WLST is connected by entering the shutdown command
without any arguments.
When connected to a Managed Server instance, you only use the shutdown command to shut
down the Managed Server instance to which WLST is connected; you cannot shut down another
server while connected to a Managed Server instance.
WLST uses Node Manager to shut down a Managed Server. When shutting down a Managed
Server, Node Manager must be running.
In the event of an error, the command returns"
They are two option if you are using adminserver then we can stop the any Managed server.
The option is if you are using the nodemanager without admin server we can stop the any Managed server.
The last final solution to kill the particular Managed server pid.

I am unable to see following SQL Server Analysis Services in central admin services after the SQL 2014 power pivot installations
RaviHi Ravi,
Per my knowledge, there is no Analysis Service in SharePoint.
After running the SQL 2014 setup to install PowerPivot for SharePoint, you need to open the PowerPivot for SharePoint 2013 Configuration tool in Central Admin Server and configure PowerPivot for SharePoint.
After that, you will see new Service Application called "Default PowerPivot Service Application" in Central Administration.
If you have other WFE servers, then you need to install the PowerPivot Add-In on all the other servers in the SharePoint farm.

i followed the steps as follow:
1、change prod mode to dev
2、modified the config.xml entrys on the all two servers:
<node-manager-password-encrypted>test</node-manager-password-encrypted>
<credential-encrypted>test</credential-encrypted>
<embedded-ldap>
<name>cluster_domain</name>
<credential-encrypted>test</credential-encrypted>
</embedded-ldap>
3、enrolled the node, then started the two adminservers, started server2's nodemanager..server2 can be started from the cluster admin console.
4、change the dev mode to prod mode on admin console, it failed throw error:
"in production mode, it's not allowed to set a clear text value to the property: CredentialEncrypted of SecurityConfigurationMBean"
i checked the config.xml ,the entrys i had changed were not aotomatically encrypted, may i manually encryp the clear text value? ..follow is the config.xml :

[Mac OS X 10.4.9] Server Admin Can NOT manage localhost
a.t.t

it said:
==========
There is no server available at the address ou entered
All services failed to aceess the address you provides for QTSS.local
Check the address and try to log on again or contact your network administrator
[keep server in list] [remove server from list]

how can i use SERVER ADMIN again?
ThanksHi, and a warm welcome to the forums!
No Server expert here, but I'm fairly certain you must replace those 2 files with copies from elsewhere. -
Admin Server conole for managed Server
I have one question regarding weblogic server 10.3 If the Admin Server is Not avilable can we make the consoleApp Deployed on the AdminServer make it avialable on the Managed Servers?
If that is possible then please let me know the steps how to do?
any suggestions would be appreciatedHi Eden,
<b><font color=maroon> Without having an AdminServer if we are able to make changes then Actually there is No Need of an admin Server at all</font></b>
"consoleapp" is the application which is called as Admin Console application which gets automatically (Internally) deployed on the Admin Server Only... So if the AdminServer is down then u don't have any option to access the AdminConsole.
If your ManagedServers are running on MSI Mode (ManagedServer Independence mode ...Means Without AdminServer Running) It means those Managed Servers are using the Old Configuration files which the Admin Server has created when it was last booted.
Still if you want to make some configuration changes then you can try editing the *"config.xml"* and *"msi-config.xml"* (msi-config.xml file u need to edit only if you are starting your ManagedServers using NodeManager) file manually in each Managed Server Box. But that is not a recommended way....Afterwards u need to restart your ManagedServers.
NOTE If you will explicitly try to deploy the "consoleapp" to any of the ManagedServer then you will get the following Error: (where localhost:7001 is the AdminServer URL)
<font color=maroon>
<Aug 27, 2010 9:34:44 PM IST> <Error> <Deployer> <BEA-149205> <Failed to initialize the application 'consoleapp' due to error weblogic.management.DeploymentException: Exception occured while downloading files.

Server admin can not connect to server
My 10.6.8 Mac Mini server decided that no user defined in the Workgroup manager should be allowed to connect to the server using Server Admin.
Not root, not admin, not myself although I have admin privileges.
What would be the proper way to fix this?

Server admin could not connect to localhost
Hi,
the Problem I have is that I could not connect to the server at localhost. Server admin shows connection error.
Maybe it is a problem with my certificate state. I have deleted the default one and have to recertificate my own one.
Any ideas?Others have posted in the past that the SA or WGM has 'issues' when the default cert is blown away.
Have you considered doing a clean install on another volume, then move the default from that install back into your current one? Just an idea before I've had my first coffee. -
Setting up an admin server (win) + a managed server (linux)
I am trying to set up the following domain on weblogic 8.1 SP2:
1. An administration server (+workshop) on my local Windows box
2. A managed server running on a red hat enterprise box, that connects to the
administration server on my windows box.
I've not been able to find any documentation on this, and the installation process
is far from intuitive.
Can someone help me with a step-by-step guide? I'm not trying to do anything fancy
here ;-) Thanks!Resolution found:
Went through the config.xml file. Found that in the server tag the listen address
for the server and managed server is not there. Entered the Corresponding listen
address for both Admin and Managed server

Involving multiple machines obviously adds some complexity but for a
development
environment that you describe, you'll want to use the ConfigurationWizard
to
create domains (with the same name) on both machines. On the admin server
machine,
use the Custom path in Config Wiz to add the managed server, and onthe
managed
server machine, you can use Express mode. Start the admin server, then
use startManagedWeblogic
on the managed server machine, specifying the managed server name and
admin url
as command line args.
In a production environment, you'll likely use node manager to start
managed servers
and a domain does not need to be created on the managed server machine
in that
case.
edocs has lots of good overview information and details on using Config
Wiz.

Why site database server for Central Admin site not accessible?
Hello everyone,
I've this issue where; when connecting a primary site to existing central administration site; setup prerequisite checker
continue to notify it cannot establish connection to SQL server having central administration site database. The SQL server
having central site database is installed locally on the server central administration site is hosted on. Both servers
(central administration site server, the new server to host child primary site required to join that central administration
site) having following configuration:
A. Central Administration site server, with site database server installed locally:
Name: HQCAS
OS: WS 2008 R2 SP1, fully patched.
SQL Server: SQL Server 2008 R2 with SP2. Correct required SQL server collation set supported by CM2012.
SQL Server named instance: CASDB
Local firewall ports opened: 1433, 4022 (via inbound rules created in group policy, same GPO applies to primary site
server)
SQL Server broker service Enabled: True.
TCP/IP: All dynamic ports left blank to support static port 1433.Static port 1433 configured for all IPs.
IP Address: 10.1.1.250/8
Local SAM: Both server computer accounts added to local 'Administrators' group on both servers.
Domain service account: svcCASDB
SPNs registered: 2x, one for HQCAS hostname on instance CASDB on port 1433, second for FQDN for HQCAS on instance
CASDB on port 1433.
SQL Server Logins: Security group containing both computer accounts for HQCAS & STPRS. Both account having sysadmin SQL
server role assigned.
SQL Server browser service running.
B. Primary site server, with SQL server installed locally: to join HQCAS CM2012 hierarchy:
Name: STPRS
OS: WS 2008 R2 SP1, fully patched.
SQL Server: SQL Server 2008 R2 with SP2. Correct required SQL server collation set supported by CM2012.
SQL Server named instance: CM12PRIMARY
Local firewall ports opened: 1433, 4022 (via inbound rules created in group policy, same GPO applies to central
administration site server)
SQL Server broker service Enabled: True.
TCP/IP: All dynamic ports left blank to support static port 1433.Static port 1433 configured for all IPs.
IP Address: 172.168.1.250/16
Local SAM: Both server computer accounts added to local 'Administrators' group on both servers.
Domain service account: svcCASDB
SPNs registered: 2x, one for STPRS hostname on instance CM12PRIMARY on port 1433, second for FQDN for STPRS on
instance CM12PRIMARY on port 1433.
SQL Server Logins: Security group containing both computer accounts for HQCAS & STPRS. Both account having sysadmin SQL
server role assigned.
SQL Server browser service running.
Tests performed:
Telnet to/from both HQCAS/STPRS on ports 1433, 4022 establishes connection. Please help
Hello friends,
My finding it finally is....there wasn't any configuration issue as I mentioned above.
I'm using an evaluation edition of SQL Server 2008 R2; it just allows default instance (MSSQLSERVER) to be used, not a named instance.
The confirming test for this was...I re-installed SQL Server with all the same settings except changing from a named instance to default; once I finished applying service pack 3. I could initiate WSUS 3.0 SP2 x64 setup and point it to use this SQL server.
WSUS setup completed without any errors. This was not happening when named instance was all configured properly. It was just not accessible from outside.
Well this is what my finding is. For lab environment of CM2012 it suffices the need.

Question regarding Listener and Server Processes in dedicated server mode
Good morning,
The Oracle documentation states that when a client connection request is received on the server, the Listener creates a Server Process which will work with the database instance to carry out the tasks requested by the user/client process. So far, everything good.
Now, when the user is at the Oracle server itself, the Listener does not need to be running to establish a connection to the database. It is therefore possible to stop the Listener and still connect using sqlplus and a valid username and password.
In the above case, the question is: if the Listener is not running, what/who created the Server Process that communicates with the database instance on behalf of the user ? Stated a different way, in the normal case, the Listener would get the request and create the server process. When the Listener is not running what part of Oracle gets the requests and creates the server process ?
Clarification on how this case is handled is much appreciated, thank you,
John. When using bequeath protocol the server process is created by the client process: it's the client process that is using ORACLE_SID and ORACLE_HOME to compute shared memory key (under UNIX) to know which SGA to attach (i.e. which instance to connect to):

If the client and database exist on the same computer, then a client connection can be passed directly to a dedicated server process without going through the listener. This is known as a bequeath protocol. The application initiating the session spawns a dedicated server process for the connection request. This happens automatically if the application used to start the database is on the same computer as the database.
