OSB: reporting via service callout & reporting execution times

Assume I made a common local service for a general report action and it's called from all inbound proxy services. At the moment all I see is in the report database is: inbound service uri: LocalProxy and inbound service name: <my local report service name>. How can I log the original service instead which was called?
An other question: is it possible to report the execution time of the service call into the database as well? I'd prefer having two measures: service execution time from the inbound proxy service until it leaves the ESB with the response; and the called business service execution time.

It was discussed here before: Re: How to call a OSB proxy service from a different OSB process?
Search forum to get more inputs.

If you want to log execution time of every single call, try searching forum again.

  • OSB - Error handling, report via service callout?

I'd like to use Report Action on any error happened in my services. I'd also like to keep only one Report Action to be able to change its configuration later easily if needed.
As it seems currently, if I add the Report Action to the Error Handler of the service directly, it logs the error code/reason/etc correctly, but if I move the Report Action to a separate service and add a service callout to the Error Handler instead of calling the Report Action directly, I lose the error information (I get the report message but error code/reason/details will be all NULL in the database).
Am I doing something wrong here? Is that a limitation of the product? Is there any solution to keep the report actions centralized in this case?
    Thanks..

    hi guys,
thanks for all the suggestions though it's still not working here. Hopefully clarifying the situation:
    a) service -- error handler -- report error
    b) service -- error handler -- service callout -- report error
    a) works, b) does not.
The syndromes for not working is that the reported message has error code, reason and detail all empty (NULL if I look directly in the database). I suspect the problem is with my service callout in scenario b).
The service callout originally was made using the following parameters:
    Request document variable: body
    Response document variable: response
    SOAP request header: header
    SOAP response header: rheader
Reading your suggestions I tried to set the request document variable from 'body' to 'fault', but it did not help either: I get the report message but still no error information in the message.
How exactly should this service callout look like to properly transfer the error details to the called pipeline?

  • OSB: how to figure out the execution time of OSB proxy

Trying to figure out how to determine the execution time taken for any given OSB proxy. Seems like the OSB built-in alerting facilities can display the average response time of all calls to a proxy but not individually. Is there a way to dig this out from the monitoring data being collected?

Service monitoring which comes OOTB is supposed to be aggregated because in usual scenarios you dont need to see the processing time of a specific request. From a performance monitoring perspective the useful data usually is average processing time and minimum or maximum processing time for any request within the aggregation interval which is provided by OSB OOTB.
Now, in some cases the business might want to track each request individually. So, for example they can track how long did it take to process a specific order. OSB does not provide this feature OOTB. There are multiple ways to get this implemented. Two of the most common ways are:
    1. Add a start and end time capturing in Proxy Services. You can use logging/reporting/publish to a DB etc to achieve this. But this is indeed intrusive and you will need to do this for every Proxy which needs to be monitored at every instance level. This is also a slight overhead in processing in itself.
    2. Use monitoring products which can monitor the WS invocations externally. This will mean more investment but definitely a much better solution. You can consider using different products from Oracle and other vendors based on your requirements, features of products and costs. A few examples are OWSM, Oracle EM, CA Wily etc.

That document is pretty old last modified March 2013 so I would say it's out of date. The reporting services are still pretty new in the current release I believe 7 days is limit for the Rest Endpoint and the Get-MessageTrace cmdlet (which is what
the more recent documentation around message tracking say) there is no REST endpoint for Start-HistoricalSearch you can see all the current endpoints by looking at the Metadata via
    https://reports.office365.com/ecp/reportingwebservice/reporting.svc/$metadata
These services are evolving so new features and reports are added which is explained in
http://msdn.microsoft.com/EN-US/library/office/jj984346(v=office.15).aspx . But there is no public information on Timeframes and what reports and features are going to be added in future updates (that I know of). If you need data older then
7 days then Automating the HistoricalSearch cmdlets would be the way to do it for now.

  • Message procesing OSB rename after service callout error

    Hi,
I have an error after make a service callout, i can't do a rename in the context variable that i create for the response of the service callout.
    I have this
    SERVICE CALLOUT.
    Service:.....
    Operation:.....
    requestVariable: inputVar
    responseVariable: outputVar
    Rename:
    Xpath:/*/return/items
    Variable:outputVar
    local: someNew
    this a example of outputVar
    <S:Body      xmlns:S="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/">

if I make a assing after the service callout and assing all the content in
outputVar in another variable named outPutVar2 the rename in outPutVar2 works just fine...
i dont know if this is a mistake in osb or is mine.
Please help out with this error
    Thanks in advance.
    Gustavo.
If you need an example, let me knwo and i will post all the details.
    Thanks.

Hi hisaak, Thanks for the answer again..
your test was right, is the xpath, if i use //return/items works out fine!. Thanks for that.
I was reading in some books that // in osb it has to be avoided for perfomance issues, i just
want to know if /*/*/return[1]/items is the same of //return/items.
I used baseX6 for testing the Xpaths and Xquerys, and if i put the xml give above as input
and i try //return/items gives the same result as /*/*/return[1]/items, but it doesn't work out
in osb, why can be that??
    Thanks agains for your answers.

  • Execution of TestStand-Sequence in LabVIEW via TS-API: Different Execution times for same sequence

    Hello Forum-Members,
I have a problem concerning the execution of an TestStand-Sequence in LabVIEW. I have created a VI that offers the ability to choose a TestStand-Sequence-File and then executes the sequence using the TestStand-API. The implementation is based on an example in C++-Application found following this link:
    http://forums.ni.com/t5/NI-TestStand/Unreleased-references-using-engine-API-in-C/m-p/2927314#M46034
The implementation works quite solid in case the VI is executed the first time. The VI processes the chosen sequence in a acceptable duration.
But in case the execution is started a second time, the execution of the sequence takes ca. 30sec more than in the first case.
Until now I have not found a solution and hope someones got a hint concerning this problem...
I am using LabVIEW 2013 and TestStand 2013.
I have attached my own VI, a sample sequence with a small sample VI, so you can reproduce the problem.
    Kind regards,

    Hi Norbert,
    first thanks for your answer.
What would be a reasonable way to replace the "Execution.WaitForEndEx"? My first idea is to get the respective thread of the execution and use the "Thread.WaitForEnd".
    To clarify my problem:
The execution of the sequence itself takes longer time and so the execution of the calling VI. I have attached pictures of the log file of the first and second execution.
Further I don't get any dialog popups during the shutdown of TestStand. (I have activated the "ReportObjectLeaks" using the "DebugOptions") While developing the attached VI I've gotten several popups. But these popups disappeared after closing all references.
Maybe you have another hint how to locate the problem.

  • Execution time for web reports

    Hello every one,
How to calculate execution time for web reports, for query execution we will go through RSRT, by giving query name and press execute + Debug button then select statistical data & Do not Cache buttons then press enter, after getting output press on back button, we will get duration of the query.....
But my question is , can we calculate execution time for webreport, if so can you please guide me.
and can you also tell me , if there is any RRI for one report, how to calculate execution time for these queries.
Ex : Query ABC have XYZ as its drilldown report , i need to calculate execution time for XYZ report via ABC report.
    Thanks in advance,
    Best Regards.

    Hi,
For reports executed in java web you can add the parameter &PROFILING=X
to the URL in order to record the execution time. Please have a look at SAP note 1048691 for further information.

What's the content-type in the HTTP 500 response from the backend service? (not OSB proxy, but the original source of the fault)
I suspect it is text/plain or just missing. OSB doesn't know it is XML, and so it escapes it.

  • Is it possible to programmatically replace a Sub Report in a crystal report

We create crystal reports via the crystal report designer (not in any IDE) , and attach the reports directly to the database via stored procedures. Each report contains a page header and a page footer with patient demographic data. We distribute these reports to our customers and they may edit the templates and alter the page header and page footers specific to their needs.
We are looking at using sub reports to build a "model" page header and page footer that would be inserted into each template at design time. What we would like to do is allow the customers to create their own sup reports to contain their custom page header / page footer and then programmatically replace the " model" sub reports with the custom sub reports. Please note that these sub reports would not contain any data access and would not be linked to the main report, rather the main report would assign the data that is displayed in the page header/page footer data to shared variables,  and the sub reports would use the shared variables as their data source to display the data.
Is it possible to programmatically replace 1 sub report with another ? If so are there any code snippets to review -

Yes it is. Submit your post to which ever SDK you are using into the Developer forums. But search the posts first and look in our samples. This is relatively easy to do.
    Thank you

  • Binary Content with Local Proxy Service Callout

When we have a binary-content-ref and we call a local proxy (via Service Callout), the local proxy thinks that binary-content-ref is is just a regular text payload. So the publish to FTP BS from the local proxy just puts the ref in the file.
Is there a transport setting when calling the local proxy that will allow it to know the payload is actually a binary-content-ref?
    Some background:
We tried using publish (best-effort) with an exception returned but ALSB's error handling, catching, and resuming did not suit our needs for trying secondary delivery channels so we need to use Service Callout in order to get a status value back.
    Thanks

The Business Service is binary. As mentioned, it works fine with publish to the local proxy but not with Service callout.
In the meantime we have eliminated the lcoal proxies but it would be great if we could reuse some functionality.
    Thanks

  • How to get the execution time of a Discoverer Report from qpp_stats table

    Hello
by reading some threads on this forum I became aware of the information stored in eul5_qpp_stats table. I would like to know if I can use this table to determine the execution time of a worksheet. In particular it looks like the field qs_act_elap_time stores the actual elapsed time of each execution of specific worksheet: am I correct? If so, how is this value computed? What's the unit of measure? I assume it's seconds, but then I've seen that sometimes I get numbers with decimals.
For example I ran a worksheet and it took more than an hour to run, and the value I get in the qs_act_elap_time column is 2218.313.
Assuming the unit of measure was seconds than it would mean approx 37 mins. Is that the actual execution time of the query on the database? I guess the actual execution time on my Discoverer client was longer since some calculations were performed at the client level and not on the database.
I would really appreciate if you could shed some light on this topic.
    Thanks and regards
    Giovanni

Thanks a lot Rod for your prompt reply.
I agree with you about the accuracy of the data. Are you aware of any other way to track the execution times of Discoverer reports?
    Thanks

  • Oracle 11G - Oracle AWR query execution time in report

I have used AWR tool of oracle 11G. I have exported query historical statistics of production databaser using awrextr.sql and then load the exported dump file using awrload.sql script.
Then i used awrrpti.sql and awrsqrpi.sql for generating report of sql queries. Every thing is working fine and generated reports are also very helpful, but report does not show the exact time when the query was executed. How can i get the actual time when the query was executed ?
    any help please ?

If you would have consulted the Oracle Reference Manual to get the view descriptions, you should have your question is a rhetorical one with the answer NO.
This is because every statement can be executed one or more times, and Oracle would need to keep track of all individual executions.
I do agree most 'applications' do not use bind variables, and consequently only have unique statements, but Oracle didn't take that into account, and rightly so.
