It looks like we're missing some of the installer log here, so I'll shoot from the hip and suggest a couple of things.
First, is there a previous version of the app already installed?  If so, could you uninstall it first and try again?
Second, could you try to run the AppleScript in this post and see if that helps?
Finally, if neither of those suggestions help could you filter your console's system.log for "Adobe AIR" and grab all the data displayed?
Thanks,
Chris

keep getting "general installation error" message Mac OSX 10.8.5/Safari 6.0.5 Followed all the instructions for uninstalling and clean installing. Just wont install

Make sure you have it set to "show hidden files"
Check BOTH places and you have to restart Finder
Press "Quit This" and then go to the Finder Dock icon and right click it
    Select "Open"
    Open TIme Machine
Go back to September 28 or earlier.
You'll see the mach_kernel file in the Mac HD directory
(I can't show it in the TM because screenshots don't work while it's open but here it is in my MAc HD)
Right click it and select "Restore to"
Then, when it goes back to Finder, choose the Mac HD directory and click OK.
It will place the mach_kernel back where it was and you can install software again
DON'T FORGET to go back and hide your files (and restart Finder) again, or you'll have a mess with the clutter of hidden files everywhere.

  • Installation Error - Mac OSX Lion

I got the following installation error (four attempts same error).  I launched Activity Monitor as instructed to terminate the indicated activity, but it wasn't listed as running.  Any clues?

You should try resetting the PRAM by rebooting while simultaneously holding down the Command-Option-P-R keys until you hear the Second chimes.  That may clear it.  However, in all honesty, the message you're getting does sound like either a very corrupted or failing hard drive.  You may need to take it in to Apple.
    Hope this helps

Hello there! Welcome to the forums @Stodgy70
I understand you're facing troubles when installing your Envy 5640 on a Windows Vista system.
After researching the error you're receiving, I would suggest creating a new User Account on the computer and ensuring it has Administrator Privileges, and trying the installation again from there.

  • Mac 10.7.5 Installation Errors

    Macbook Pro OSX 10.7.5
Trying to install Adobe Flash 15
No flash at the moment since I tried a clean install.
    Firefox 32.0.3
I have repeatedly had issues on my Mac since its purchase in 2011 with installing Flash, to the point that I disabled automatic updates within a few months of purchasing my mac. Quite literally every time that I must update flash I end up spending hours jumping through hoops (read: attempting clean installs for a few days) to try get the newest flash; most of the time I just end up reverting to an older version that definitely works already, which is Version 14 at this point in time (I have had an older 14 for a while, ignoring the prompts to update to new 14 and then 15 because I knew something like this would happen again, for the nth time in a row, but old 14 started to have audio issues and I tried to update to 15, to no avail). Every installation, with the online or offline installer, ends up in 'general installation error' messages, even with clean install attempts multiple times in a row. It even takes some time just to get older versions installed, despite the fact that they worked before I de-installed them to get to the new version. I don't entirely understand what the FlashPlayerInstallManager.log is saying, but perhaps there's something in there that must point to what the issue is. I am hoping that there is some small thing that has been plaguing my Mac since its purchase that can be fixed so that I never have to deal with this incredibly frustrating issue ever again, but I suspect that somehow my Mac OSX is being overlooked every single time there is an update instead, which is really irritating. If one would like to look at the .log, I would be happy to send it, if that could possibly help in any manner.

This issue has not yet been resolved, despite more attempts at clean installations. I cannot get any version of flash now, regardless of how recent it is.

If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Select "/var/log/install.log" from the file list. Then select the messages from the last installation or update attempt, starting from the time when you initiated it. If you're not sure when that was, start over and note the time. Copy them (command-C) to the Clipboard. Paste (command-V) into a reply to this message.
If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out by search-and-replace in a text editor before posting.

  • Garageband installation error please help??

At some point in time my GarageBand started giving me and installation error, it says " please ensure this product has been installed properly" if i hit ok i get that message a couple more times and then another message that says "registry error". After i click ok i get this same message about 4 times and then GarageBand hangs there forever until I click the icon again and then it opens fine.
I have reinstalled the software several times and updated with any updates neccessary with no success. I also have Protools installed on my mac. I never had a problem running both, and I am not sure where these errors came from or how to fix them.
I have a 2009 Macbook Pro 13" 2.4, with 4gig Ram and am running Mac OSX Version 10.6.8 with iLife11
Also not for sure if this is related to the errors but everytime I import a stereo mp3 it plays only to the left side. The right side is very week and barely noticable. The wave form on the track shows up that way as well. What may be causing this?

I looked at the Protools site:  http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/en_US/compatibility/en352429
You are having protools 7.4  and mbox; both are officially not supported for Snowleopard, see
Pro Tools 7.4.2 is not officially qualified with Mac OS X 10.5.5 and higher.
    and
Not Compatible with Mac OS X 10.6
Pro Tools 8.0.3 software and higher does not support some retired products:
    Original Mbox
Your Protools may be causing these messages - check the Console what you see there.

  • Spiceworks remote agent install on old computers gives installation errors

    Hi,
I am receiving the following installation error when installing the remote agent on windows XP computers with older processors.
Any suggestions on how to fix this? All would be appreciated!
This topic first appeared in the Spiceworks Community

Update: In the middle of the OSX installation from DVD1, the MBA says it forgot the WPA WLAN keys and it would like me to re-enter it. So I re-enter it, but it says it was wrong. So I tried it with another Y-Z keymapping switch, and that worked. The OSX installer on MBA silently changed its keyboard layout mapping during installation......
    What I nightmare.

  • Currently on Mountain Lion. Tried to upgrade to Yosemite. Computer is now locked onto OSX installation page. No access to finder or anything. Have to push off button to shut computer down.

iMac running Mountain Lion.... Yesterday, I tried to upgrade to Yosemite. System seemed to be upgrading. However, the OSX installation window is now frozen on the computer with the blue bar showing installation complete. I do not have access to even the finder. Force quitting with keys is not working. The only way I can shut the computer down is to hold down the on/off button. Restarting brings up the same frozen OSX installation window. What to do?

    There are three ways:
    A. Reinstalling Yosemite, Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
    B. Install or Reinstall from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Erase the hard drive:
      1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
      2. After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the
left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
      3. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Optionally, click on
the Security button and set the Zero Data option to one-pass. Click on
the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
      4. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Yosemite: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Install button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.
    C. Internet Recovery
Install OS X Using Internet Recovery
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
Boot to the Internet Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-OPTION- R keys until a globe appears on the screen. Wait patiently - 15-20 minutes - until the Recovery main menu appears.
Partition and Format the hard drive:
Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
After DU loads select your newly installed hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Yosemite: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Install button. Be sure to select the correct drive to use if you have more than one.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
This should restore the version of OS X originally pre-installed on the computer.
