  • Adding parameter to a MySQL query in MS SQL Server Report Builder

    So I have a MySQL DB connected to MS SQL Server Report Builder via ODBC connector. Everything is fine, I can execute queries and put the fields into report.
    But I can't add an parameter to the query.
    Example query:
    SELECT column1, column2 FROM table WHERE column3 = (@parameter1)
    The result set is just empty. I think the problem is that I'm using MySQL and not MS SQL. Any suggestion?

    Hello Alan,
    Named parameters like @param works with SQL Server / .NET data provider, but not for OleDB, here you have to use the question mark instead
    SELECT column1, column2
    FROM table
    WHERE column3 = ? and column9 = ?
    When you assign the report parameter to query parameter you have to take care about the order of used ? in query

  • SSMA: Error migrate data mysql = Sql Server

    Hello,
    I'm trying to migrate a database Mysql 5.1 to SQL Server 2008 with SSMA.
    The server hosting the SQL database is on Windows 2008 Enterprise x64.
    The user connecting to the SQL database is sysadmin.
    Phases to convert and sync happen without problems, but the migration of data blocks it.
    The log tells me out:
    Data migration operation has finished.
    0 table (s) successfully migrated.
    0 table (s) Partially migrated.
    46 table (s) failed to migrate.
    The Data Migration Report is empty with only a red cross next to my table names.
    I tried to migrate in client mode and server mode = same result.
    Any ideas ?
    EDIT: miss, this thread shoud be in section SQL Server Migration. A moderator can move my post please ?

    Apparently the error
    occurs only on the columns of type DateTime,
    default 0000-00-00 00:00:00 but not on
    primary key.
    Example of data to be converted: 2011-04-06
    10:39:32.
    SSMA is proposing to convert them datetime2
    (0).
    I tried manually edited with Datetime
    conversion, datetime2, smalldatetime
    => all end up in error.
    And if I put the 'Date
    Zero In migration' = 'Error' instead of
    'Set Null' another error
    appears:
    'Can not convert String provided for the
    data source type datetime2'

  • SQL Server 2005 replaced with SQL Server 2014 trying to connect front end Access as guest (read only ODBC)

    We have replaced a SQL Server 2005 with a SQL Server 2014 (new physical server.)  Have the new server set up to use SQL Server login OR Windows user login. Had old server connecting (for a particular DB) to front end Access (2010 or 2013) as guest for
    anyone logged into the Windows NT Network with a read only ODBC connection. Have the DB in the new server set to include guest as db_datareader (with only SELECT permission for the securables of each table and view being linked) but when any Windows user not
    specifically listed as a SQL DB user tries to use the front end they get an error of:
    Microsoft SQL Server Login
    Connection failed:
    SQL State: '28000'
    SQL Server Error: 18456
    [Microsoft][OCBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server] Login failed for user {domain\user}.
    After closing that pop-up window a server login window appears. Of course, since the guest user is not specifically listed as a user in the DB that fails also. It seems like there should be a very simple solution to this, but I can't seem to find it. I want
    to allow anyone logged in on the Windows system (locally) to be able to open the MS Access file (on their work station machine) and run their own (read only; select) queries on the SQL Server database. Any suggestions?
    Thanks a billion in advance ----

    Thanks for the response Olaf. I have now spent weeks researching this. I realize that using the guest account in most situations is not advised. As mentioned, I have restricted the guest account to allow the db_datareader role only, and have explicitly denied
    all other roles, as well as allowing select only, and still have no access for the guest account.
    The suggested fix in the second link you provided, of using Windows groups is not plausible for my situation either. We are a scientific field research institution, with a few long term users and lots of users that may have Windows accounts for a few months,
    and then they are gone. It would be a nightmare for the network tech to try to keep a group account up to date, and we need to give access (read only, of course) to anyone logged into the system. Realize that the ONLY access of any kind to this database is
    thru MS Access ACCDB, using a (by default) read only OCDB connection.
    This type of access is used particularly because researchers need to be able to set up their own queries, and the MS Access query interface is particularly convenient for people who are not themselves SQL experts, yet are trying to get some very advanced
    levels of output. Putting the database online is not practical because then we are back to the need for a comprehensive query interface, and just picking up general subsets of the data online (from a basic web page search feature) would be out of the question,
    since the result set would involve hundreds of thousands if not millions of records.
    So - that said - what exactly would you suggest, assuming we don't have the funds to buy a whole new system, and have spent plenty of money with Microsoft's Enterprise level MS Office so that all work stations have MS Access, and Microsoft's SQL Server,
    as well as running our network on Microsoft's network software.

  • Named Pipes provider, error:40 could not open a connection to sql server. Only happens on one of the front end SRS servers

    when testing a datasource connection I get the following error.
    Named Pipes provider, error:40 could not open a connection to sql server.
    I've read all the posts on this and nothing works.  This is a scale out deployment and the connection
    works from the other server I have setup with SRS that is connected to the same backend SRS databases.  It just doesn't work from one of the SRS front ends.  I'm at a loss..  please help

    Enable both named pipe and TCP communications.
    Make sure client is using the same (named) pipe name as server for connection.

  • Switch from MySQL to MS SQL Server, Query not working

    I'm sure there is a simple setting somewhere for this, but cannot seem to find it and really would appreciate some assistance. Have an application which uses JDBC to connect to a MySQL DB to run the following query without an issue:
    SELECT * FROM users
    This returns the desired results. Changed to connect to MS SQL Server 2000 using the JDBC-ODBC bridge and the same query returns no results. The problem, SQL Server wants this query instead:
    SELECT * FROM [users]
    I don't want to have to change queries depending on the DB, as that is supposed to be one of the advantages of JDBC. Is there a setting in MySQL (or the JDBC driver) to have it work correctly if I pass table names in []? Or is there a setting in MS SQL Server (or in the JDBC, or ODBC) to have it accept queries without the []?
    Or is there a different approach that I'm missing which would avoid this whole problem?
    Thanks,
    Matt

    I suspect your database definitions are different. It has nothing to do with your java code.
    The bracket syntax is used to indicate the more standard quoted identifiers in standard SQL.
    Thus you could do this in oracle and in MS SQL Server...
    SELECT * FROM "users"
    I suspect that the above will work for your MS SQL Server database and will not work for your Oracle database. However if you created the table in oracle and specifically used "users" (with the double quotes around the name) when creating the table then it would work.
    Of course if the database definitions are different it means you must use different SQL for each. Just as if the name of the table was 'other' rather than 'users'.

    i need ur help,we hav online site .Please don't use these juvenile abbreviations. It's impolite when you're asking for assistance not to make the effort to spell out all of the words. Moreover in a forum with an international readership the use of standard English will reduce the possibility of confusion.
    I presume that your file upload is being placed in a different directory from that which you were expecting. I would suggest logging all paths (specifically filename) to see if this is an unexpected value.
    Please explain further what you mean by "local" - is this a stand-alone application, or merely running a copy of the server on your local machine and doing the transfer (via the browser) to that? Are there any other differences such as the browser used?

  • MySQL installation in Snow Leopard Server appears to be broken?

    I tried
    sudo gem install mysql -- --with-mysql-config=/usr/bin/mysql_config
    and it failed.
    The mkmf.log said (in part):
    "gcc -o conftest -I. -I/System/Library/Frameworks/Ruby.framework/Versions/1.8/usr/lib/ruby/1.8/universal-darwin10.0 -I. -DXOPENSOURCE -DDARWIN_CSOURCE -I/usr/include -fno-omit-frame-pointer -pipe -DP1003_1BVISIBLE -DSIGNALWITH_VIOCLOSE -DSIGNALSDONT_BREAKREAD -DIGNORESIGHUPSIGQUIT -arch x86_64 -g -Os -pipe -fno-common -DENABLE_DTRACE -fno-common -pipe -fno-common conftest.c -L. -L/System/Library/Frameworks/Ruby.framework/Versions/1.8/usr/lib -L. -arch x86_64 -pipe -L/usr/lib -lmysqlclient -lz -lm -lruby -pipe -L/usr/lib -lmysqlclient -lz -lm -lpthread -ldl "
    ld: library not found for -lmysqlclient
    collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
    checked program was:
    /* begin */
    1: /top/
    2: int main() { return 0; }
    3: int t() { mysqlsslset(); return 0; }
    /* end */
    So, I checked mysql_config:
    Usage: /usr/bin/mysql_config [OPTIONS]
    Options:
    --cflags [-I/usr/include -fno-omit-frame-pointer -pipe -DP1003_1BVISIBLE -DSIGNALWITH_VIOCLOSE -DSIGNALSDONT_BREAKREAD -DIGNORESIGHUPSIGQUIT]
    --include [-I/usr/include]
    --libs [-pipe -L/usr/lib -lmysqlclient -lz -lm]
    --libs_r [-pipe -L/usr/lib -lmysqlclient_r -lz -lm]
    --socket [/var/mysql/mysql.sock]
    --port [0]
    --version [5.0.91]
    --libmysqld-libs [-pipe -L/usr/lib -lmysqld -lz -lm]
    Note that mysql_config appears to have been compiled with an assumption that /usr/lib
    would contain a -lmysqlclient shared library.
    Which assumption fails on my Snow Leopard Server installation:
    minisvr:~ root# ls -la /usr/lib/mysql
    ls: /usr/lib/mysql: No such file or directory
    Now, I'm reasonably certain that I have done nothing to cause this library to be missing;
    as I am also reasonably certain that the mysql_config found in /usr/bin is one shipped by
    Apple (as opposed to one I could have picked up somewhere else).
    Can anyone else out there verify: does Apple ship /usr/bin/mysql_config?
    If so, does it supply linker options like -L/usr/lib -lmysqlclient?
    If that also is true, does your /usr/lib actually contain an Apple-supplied libmysqlclient.*?
    Now, assuming that my installation is reasonably close to what Apple actually shipped,
    what should I do about it? Would I be better off to go find a source distribution,
    and build and install mysql, foregoing the Apple-supplied integration with
    management tools (e.g., using Server Manager to start/stop and monitor logfiles)?
    What do other users of mysql on Mac OS X Server do?
    Thanks,
    Tommy K

    I tried
    sudo gem install mysql -- --with-mysql-config=/usr/bin/mysql_config
    and it failed.
    The mkmf.log said (in part):
    "gcc -o conftest -I. -I/System/Library/Frameworks/Ruby.framework/Versions/1.8/usr/lib/ruby/1.8/universal-darwin10.0 -I. -DXOPENSOURCE -DDARWIN_CSOURCE -I/usr/include -fno-omit-frame-pointer -pipe -DP1003_1BVISIBLE -DSIGNALWITH_VIOCLOSE -DSIGNALSDONT_BREAKREAD -DIGNORESIGHUPSIGQUIT -arch x86_64 -g -Os -pipe -fno-common -DENABLE_DTRACE -fno-common -pipe -fno-common conftest.c -L. -L/System/Library/Frameworks/Ruby.framework/Versions/1.8/usr/lib -L. -arch x86_64 -pipe -L/usr/lib -lmysqlclient -lz -lm -lruby -pipe -L/usr/lib -lmysqlclient -lz -lm -lpthread -ldl "
    ld: library not found for -lmysqlclient
    collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
    checked program was:
    /* begin */
    1: /top/
    2: int main() { return 0; }
    3: int t() { mysqlsslset(); return 0; }
    /* end */
    So, I checked mysql_config:
    Usage: /usr/bin/mysql_config [OPTIONS]
    Options:
    --cflags [-I/usr/include -fno-omit-frame-pointer -pipe -DP1003_1BVISIBLE -DSIGNALWITH_VIOCLOSE -DSIGNALSDONT_BREAKREAD -DIGNORESIGHUPSIGQUIT]
    --include [-I/usr/include]
    --libs [-pipe -L/usr/lib -lmysqlclient -lz -lm]
    --libs_r [-pipe -L/usr/lib -lmysqlclient_r -lz -lm]
    --socket [/var/mysql/mysql.sock]
    --port [0]
    --version [5.0.91]
    --libmysqld-libs [-pipe -L/usr/lib -lmysqld -lz -lm]
    Note that mysql_config appears to have been compiled with an assumption that /usr/lib
    would contain a -lmysqlclient shared library.
    Which assumption fails on my Snow Leopard Server installation:
    minisvr:~ root# ls -la /usr/lib/mysql
    ls: /usr/lib/mysql: No such file or directory
    Now, I'm reasonably certain that I have done nothing to cause this library to be missing;
    as I am also reasonably certain that the mysql_config found in /usr/bin is one shipped by
    Apple (as opposed to one I could have picked up somewhere else).

  • How to let sql server 2008 know the table created at front end in c#

    How to let sql server 2008 know the table created at front end in c#

    The best solution is to create table type and pass the DataTable as table-valued parameter. I have an article on my web site about this:
    http://www.sommarskog.se/arrays-in-sql-2008.html
    The full article is a bit of overkill for what you are doing right now, but just the few first pages should get you going.

  • Support for mysql or ms sql server ?

    Does sunone support mysql or ms sql server, I keep getting the following when I try to deploy an entity bean using either database.
    Deployment Error -- Error while running ejbc -- Fatal Error from EJB Compiler -- -- java.lang.RuntimeException: The schema file sequence, does not contain a table named SEQUENCE
    I'm using the dbschema generated by Forte, is there some hand editing I need to do to get it to work? I'm still confused why this schema is necessary, never had to go through such an annoying process with IAS or weblogic.

  • FOR UPDATE on MYSQL to SQL SERVER migration

    Dear forum,
    We have an existing piece of software that used MySQL, and we are in the process of migrating said software to SQL Server. All is working well, except when our program tries to execute statements like this :
    getImportEntryLock = getConnection().prepareStatement(
                        "SELECT * FROM ientry WHERE company_code = ? AND year_no = ? AND company_turn = ? AND entry_ref = ? FOR UPDATE");
    This results in this JDBC error:
    com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerException: Line 1: FOR UPDATE clause allowed only for DECLARE CURSOR.
    After some research, I've learned that SQL Server has issues with FOR UPDATE statements; also, I saw some fixes were due as far back as 2012, but I can find no further information after this point. Ideally, I'd like to leave the SQL in this legacy program
    that I'm migrating well alone, as there are no tests available in the program.
    I'm using SQL Server evaluation 2014, MS JDBC driver vs 4.0.
    Thanks,
    Paul

    >Will updlock function, generally to lock rows until after a transaction is complete?
    Yes.  It is used exactly like FOR UPDATE in Oracle ( I don't know about MySQL).  It opts out of multi-version read concurrency and places a lock on the data read that prevents other sessions from updating the data for the duration of the transaction.

  • SQL Server Replication with MYSQL DB on web

    Hi Friends,
    I want to inquire that using sqlserver 2012 we can configure transactional replication between MYSQL DB on web to sqlserver 2012. Tables will be residing on MYSQL DB web to SQLSERVER 2012. using sqlserver replication as option (publisher and subscriber)

    asad

    Hi Asad,
    I suspect you want the replication done using a SSIS package, this is why you posted your question here.
    I then need to disappoint you, neither SSIS nor anything in the standard SQL Server distribution exists that will make this happen.
    In the field the devs typically use 3rd party tools, or write a lot of custom code which results in a custom tailored application
