OT: mysql and Tiger OS?

Question

Eeeek! help
ok so I downloaded the 32 bit 'package' version of mysql and
installed
it onto the machine running Tiger 10.4.8 OS
Seemed to be going ok, I'm following Daves (David Powers)
instructions
from his PHP for Dreamweaver 8 (which worked beautifully when
I
installed onto Jaguar OS a couple of years back). This time
the control
panel didn't open instantly on completion of the install and
there is no
sign of the mysql icon under 'others' in the preferences
window?
I've restarted the machine and its still not there. Anyone
else had a
similar issue?

Turns out its all the fault of those dozy buggers at msSql.
Theres
dozens of posts on google about this issue dating back to
October last year.
You'd think by now the idiots at mysql would have simply
typed in (Intel
Macs) next to the correct download package.
It turns out to be neither the 32 bit version or the 64 bit
version but
a completley different one with 86 after it (whatever 86
stands for)
