Outgoing Yahoo E-mail accounts won't send since 1.3.1 update

I have an email account from AT& T ([email protected]), and they must own Yahoo, or be associated because to access me E-mail through the web, I go to www.att.yahoo.com
On my pre, none of my E-mails that use Yahoo, will send Email, and the messages get stuck in the outbox, which if left there will put my battery at zero in no time.  It worked before the 1.3.1 update and now it doesn't.
I know that Palm did something with synergy and Yahoo, and I am thinking that somehow this has screwed up my email from working.  I do not use contact or other information from yahoo, so I don't want to set it up in contacts (it did that automatically for one account and email still did not work)
I have tried to set it up manually, and used different variations in set-up, but I have had no luck being able to send messages.  I can send messages using accounts other than my att.yahoo account, but this is my main e-mail and I need it to work
Anyone have any idea's?
Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Sprint)

I have the same issue but with Gmail.  Any help anyone can give on this would be great.

  • I recently updated to Mavericks and now all my e-mail accounts won't send

I recently updated to Mavericks and now all my e-mail accounts won't send. They all receive ok but when I send I get a message "sender address rejected by server" and " Authentification required" The passwords are still intact

Check the Mail settings for your account, especially the SMTP (outgoing) address, type of authentication, and entry of the proper email username and password. You can do this when you select the account then under the outgoing mail server use the dropdown menu to select the Edit option. Select your outgoing configuration in the list. Check the settings below, then click on the Advanced tab and check those settings.
If all is OK, then I suggest your reinstall Mavericks:
Reinstall Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks without erasing drive
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks
OS X Mavericks- Reinstall OS X
OS X Mountain Lion- Reinstall OS X
OS X Lion- Reinstall Mac OS X
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet
if possible because it isthree times faster than wireless.

  • Yahoo! Mail Account Won't Add After Restore

After restoring my iPad through iTunes, my Yahoo! Mail account won't add back. When I restored, restoring from a backup crashed my iPad so I created a new one and lost all my data. I go to Settings > Mail Contacts And Calendars > Add Account > Yahoo! I type in all my data, I know the password is correct because I can log in on Safari. I tap the next button and it presents me with the error dialog "Server Unavailable, please try again later." I must have tried this 20+ times. I've waited for weeks and it has been to no avail. Please help.

I found out that older Yahoo! accounts no longer work on iOS devices. You'll have to update to the latest version of Yahoo! mail. Unfortunatly, some people (including me) can't update to the latest version at this point in time. It's understandable because I've had m Yahoo! account since 1998. Maybe they dropped support for updating?

Am using Safari 6.0.5, suddenly my Yahoo mail account won't keep me logged in and the 'keep me logged in' button has disappeared. It is still there on Chrome so am assuming it is a Safari issue. It just happened suddenly. Have reset Safari, cache and also changed my Yahoo password but problem is still there.

I still don't understand what the problem that you are experiencing is. If you get to a page where yahoo is asking JUST for your password, and there is no box for username (it may have your username displayed, but not in a enter box), then you ARE "being kept signed in"  You can verify this by instead of entering your password, go to www.yahoo.com home page, and it will say something like "Hi, Amber"   This means you ARE signed in.
When you get that page asking for just your password, you are NOT being asked to sign in again. You are simply being asked to verify/enter your assword an Nth time. If you get that page right after entering your username and password, try clicking the "back" (previous page) button. It might just go to your inbox.
If this is the case, your problem has nothing to do with being kept signed in or not, the problem is that for some (unknown to me) reason, yahoo is asking you to re-enter your password, kind of like when your mac asks for your mac password when changing system settings. Yahoo does this as a safety feature when you go to account settings, and apparently abritary other times. I wish I understood just why I get it every time after signing in.
It could be because I have java turned off. It could be because I don't accept third party cookies. Maybe a cache file. Or a hundred other things... I don't know. It could simply be yahoo is scrooing safari users. I have glanced at the html, but to really understand it, it would take me days. There are over 25 places where username and password are in the html "source" code of the yahoo login page, and even understanding that may not tell me. In the past, I have seen code essentiall saying "if IE x.3.2" do this, if chrome do that, if mozilla do something else, otherwise make it next to impossible...."
My problem is not only I get asked for my assword a second time, but also (and only very recently) I do not get a prompt to save username and pasword. I have gone to yahoo help pages to try to figure it out, and I feel like I just run in circles. If one wants to send a question in, they have to answer half a dozen questions disclosing private information. And I pay yahoo $20/year. grrr
If when you are trying to access your yahoo mail and you are being asked to enter both your username and password, but didn't sign out of yahoo, then indeed your are not being "kept signed in"

  • Cannot send back acrobat fill-in form from a yahoo e-mail account

I have recently used acrobat pro fill-in forms and acrobat.com to send to recipients.  Some who have a yahoo e-mail account cannot return form to me because their computer says that there microsoft outlook isn't set up yet, but they do not use microsoft outlook, they use yahoo.com accounts.  Why is this happening and what can they do to send the forms back to me?  Anyone have any ideas?

Acrobat doesn't look for Outlook, I think, but for the Windows default email client. Millions of people don't set up this client, which is why I always advise that "submit by email" is no use except for testing and in certain corporate situations where the mail client is controlled.
This is why PDF forms, exactly like HTML forms, should always be submitted to a script on a web site (written by an experienced web programmer).

I just switched from a blackberry to iphone 4. I have set up all of my email accounts but my work account won't send emails to any accounts that are not from our server. I never had this problem with my blackberry so I know it can be done. The message always says "email address rejected by server". Anyone else have this problem?

    hi there

Depending on what account your using, you may need to enter a password for your outgoing mail server, same password as your incoming mail server - go back into the mail account and check.

  • Help, email down! - "Your Yahoo! Mail account has ...

    Hi all
For some reason I can no longer use BT Yahoo email servers or services. I hope someone can help.
I have been a BT Infinity customer for about 6 months without issue. Tonight my email stopped working. The only change I made today is opting back in to BT FON WiFi Community using the portal on the Home Hub. This could be a red herring but no other account, router or service changes have been made.
    1. If Outlook attempts to connect I get a username or password error. Emails stick in the Outbox.
    2. If I send from another account to my btinternet address I get an NDR from a bt.mail.ird.yahoo.com mail server:
Sorry your message to <me>@btinternet.com cannot be delivered. This account has been disabled or discontinued [#102].
Despite the send/receive errors in Outlook (see #1), the email is still received.
    3. I can log in to BT Yahoo member page, but if I click on Email:
Your Yahoo! Mail Account is no longer active.
Unfortunately, we cannot reactivate your account because:
Your Yahoo! Mail account has been disabled. Please contact user support.
Any help greatly appreciated. I don't use my btinternet.com address to receive email (I use a catch-all address with a registered domain name to forward to gmail). However I need to use their SMTP servers to send email, which at the moment I'm unable to do.
    Regards, Dave
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Problem is now resolved.
I called BT yesterday on 0800 111 4567 and raised a support ticket. They confirmed the problem wasn't at my end so they raised a (free) support ticket. They said my email account looked ok from their end too, so they'd escalated it to the Yahoo server team. This morning all worked fine again when outbound SMTP email was triggered at 6am.
I don't know what the problem or resolution was but I'm glad to be back up and running. Full credit to BT. I was given a maximum response time of 48 hours from this morning (when Yahoo would pick up the call). I was therefore looking at 3 days of potential downtime. After a bit of a grumble from my end, the duty manager agreed to prioritise the call which he appears to have done successfully.
Thanks to anyone who's read this far! Regards, Dave

  • One Yahoo! mail account does not receive email sent from .mac

OK, this is an odd problem, and any help would be appreciated.
My girlfriend's Yahoo! mail account does not receive email sent from my .mac address. If I send email from my Gmail or Yahoo! accounts she receives the message. No one else has informed me that they haven't received email from the .mac address. Additionally, the .mac account is in her address book.
Anyway, has anyone seen a similar pattern with Yahoo! or any other email provider?
    Thanks.
    - Jennings

Thanks for the reply . . . and yes, the recipient's email provider likely holds the answer.
However, I was hoping someone here might have had a similar experience and could answer as the email provider is Yahoo, and they are slow in responding to help requests . . . for a period I hosted a personal, paid website through Yahoo Domains and help tickets lingered for several days on multiple occasions (this being the reason the site is no longer hosted by Yahoo). I also doubt Yahoo will expend too much energy resolving a problem for a free email account.
Anyway, I posted in the Yahoo mail forums, and hopefully something will come-up . . . .

  • Mail says that it can't connect to my Yahoo! Mail account

This has happened quite frequently to me recently: my Mail account on my Mac will randomnly say that it "Can't connect to the account Yahoo!" which is my primary email account. It will then have me enter my password to my Yahoo! Mail account. This is rather annoying, and I was wondering how I can get this to stop.

I experience the same issue. I am in contact with apple support who have as yet not been able to resolve the problem. To receive mail on my mac I first have to log into yahoo.com via a browser and then I can return to apple mail where mail sending and receiving works for a few minutes. After some time the connection between apple mail and yahoo.com breaks (even though I remain logged into yahoo.com) and I can no longer send and receive mail from my mac. I then have to log out and back in again to yahoo.com for the mail to again work in apple mail. This have been an issue since late June.

  • Using Existing Yahoo E-mail Account

I have a yahoo e-mail account that I've been using for quite some time and would like to continue using. Is there a way that I can "transfer" this to my Verizon account, making it my Verizon e-mail?

Actually, you can configure the Yahoo account to poll your Verizon account (via POP) to pull messages from sent to your Verizon address directly into your Yahoo account (same applies for Gmail and Hotmail).  That method preserves the sender's information and doesn't risk having Yahoo drop a forwarded message as SPAM, etc.   It's pretty simple to do.

    Hello Sue,
I have an iPad 3, iPad Mini and iPhone 5S and they are all sluggish on capitalisation using shift keys. I hope that Apple will solve the problem because it is driving me crazy.
I find using a Microsoft Surface and Windows 8 phone, which I also have, work as well as all the ios devices before the ios 7 upgrade.
It has something to do with the length of time that you need to hold the shift key down. The shift key needs to be held longer than the letter key for the capitalisation to work. For some reason, this is a major change in the way we have learnt to touch type on computers. I am having to relearn how to type!

  • Help setting on Yahoo! mail account.

When I go to make a new acount in Mail it asks me for
Account Type: (.Mac, POP, IMAP, EXCHANGE)
    Account Discription:
    Full Name:
    Username:
    Password:
I have a Yahoo! Mail account and I'm quite sure that it's a POP server. So when I choose the POP server it asks for my Account Discription which is default "POP ACCOUNT" and than my namw and e-mail address...So i enter my E-mail address and hit continue.
The next step is to set up your Incoming Mail Server. This is where I get stuck. I don't know what server yahoo works off of...is it just "mail.yahoo.com" i'm not sure! but when I do enter "mail.yahoo.com" and than my password it says..
"The POP server “mail.yahoo.com” is not responding. Check your network connection and that you entered the correct information in the “Incoming Mail Server” field. If it still doesn’t respond, the server might be temporarily unavailable.
If you continue, you may not be able to receive any email."
    Any imput would be appreciated!

  • How to stop receiving from a mail account but still send from that account

    Hi
I was wondering if anyone knew how set up a mail account that will send but not recieve. Basically, I would like it to stop going to the server and grabbing emails from this account, but I want to be able to send emails from this account. Is this possible??
    Thanks!

    Welcome to the Discussions.
Very possible and very easy to configure. First, in Mail Preferences/Accounts/Advanced deselect to include when automatically checking for new messages. Second, click on Mailbox in the menubar, choose Online Status, and click to take this account Offline. An account that is Offline can still be used to Send.
These two steps, together, will accomplish what you need.
