Hello,
i have exactly the same Problem. My iPhone-Os-Status is 1.1.2, i use Outlook 2003 SP3 on Vista, the Data is in an ost-File (using Exchange) which is recognized and locked by itunes after starting the sync, i have massiv processor-load (both Kernels) while syncing the calendar - but nothing seems to happen.
Interesting is, that i got the response after deleting a few dates on the iphone, that more than the choosen percentage of Data has been changed - a sign, that itunes obviously is starting a calendar-sync.
Maybe there is a problem with my calendar-size. I have birthdays back to 1940 to get the correct age of the birthday-person displayed on my other mobile devices (no, not synced parallel on the desktop, no conflict with other local software, but via Exchange Active Sync direct per UMTS), so that the amount of data in the calendar-app in the outlook-ost-file is a little bit higher than the average.
Did anybody sync big calendars succesful?
Regards HF

  • Anyone had problems syncing Outlook 2003 to the iPod?

I have syncd it via iTunes and it thinks it is syncd, but when I go into calendars on the iPod, there is a calendar there but no appointments and i can't create new appointments in the iPod either! Please can anyone tell me what I doing wrong?
I have Outlook 2003 running via MS Exchange Server.
    Many thanks

I am experiencing the same problem with Outlook 2003. No trouble syncing contacts, but calendar will not sync even though it appears to.
I have done extensive troubleshooting on this (different iPods, different computers, reinstalled iTunes and Outlook 2003, restored iPod, etc.) Talked with genius at local Apple store and tech support at Apple ... they created a "ticket" on this and sent it to "engineering" but that was 10 days ago and nothing hear back from them.
I did find a work around. There is a product called O2M from Little Machines which cost $10. It will sync to Outlook and transfer calendar info (as well as contacts, emails) to a file O2M creates in iCal format. You can then copy these files into your iPod calendar folder. To do this you need to enable iTunes to open iPod as an external disk. Then you can find the iPod in My Computer and within that is an empty calendar folder. Drag (i.e.copy) the files from the folder created by O2M into this iPod folder and you are set. Besure to do this after iTune finishes syncing with you iPod but before you eject the iPod. Otherwise, iTune will come in and erase the data you just put into the calendar folder. If you need more help on this get back to me on this forum.
I will let you know if I hear back from Apple on my ticket on this issue.

  • Some contacts in my iPod are not showing up in Outlook 2003 after synching

iPod Touch w/ iOS 5. PC with Outlook 2003. After syncing, some of the contacts in the iPod don't show up in Outlook. Any clues? I feel pretty sure I have a setting wrong, but I can't find it!

It will import all of your exchange contacts.  If any are already in iCloud they would be duplicated and you would have to go to icloud.com and manually delete them.  If you still want to import them, do the following:
Go to Settings>iCloud, turn Contacts to Off, choose Delete from My iPhone when prompted (any iCloud contacts will still be in iCloud).
Download the app My Contacts Backup.  (If you have more than 500 contests to transfer you will need the “Pro” version.)  Use the app to backup the remaining contacts from your exchange account as a vCard attachment to an email that you send to yourself.  Confirm that you have received the email.
Go to Settings>iCloud and turn Contacts back to On.
Go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Default Account (in the Contacts section), and set this to iCloud.
Go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars...tap your exchange account and turn off contacts syncing (othewise you will see duplicates of all of them).
Open the My Contacts Backup email and tap the attachment to import your exchange contacts back to your phone, and to iCloud.
At this point all of your contacts should be in iCloud, and you will be syncing them with iCloud rather than your exchange account.  As mentioned, you can go to icloud.com and delete any duplicates if some of your exchange contacts were already in iCloud.

  • Ipod will not sync because microsoft outlook 2003 or later is required

I can no longer get my Ipod to copy my music CD's. I get the message: Itunes cannot sync Ipod "Users Ipod" because microsoft Outlook 2003 or later is required.
In the past I have muddled through suprisingly easily. Did I accept an upgrade that no longer works with my windows program. I think my windows program is newer than 3003.

You don't use Outlook to import music CDs into iTunes and from there to your iPod. You simply need iTunes.
What Windows operating system do you have?
I think my windows program is newer than 3003.
    I think you're probably right.

  • IPod as a conduit to sync iCal and Outlook 2003 with each other?

I am able to synchronize my work Outlook 2003 calendar and home Mac iCal with the iPod in two separate files on the iPod. I can see them both if I select "All". My questions are:
    1. What should I do to sync the PC and the Mac with the same file on the iPod?
    2. Is it possible to snychronize the iCal and Outlook with each other via the iPod?
    Thanks,

If you mount your iPod on your Mac, navgate to the iPod Calendars folder and double-click on an ics file it will import the calendar into iCal. So you can sync from the PC to the iPod to iCal uni-directionally. If Outlook 2003 can import an ics file then you should be able to sync the other way as well. However, in both cases you will essentially be copying over one calendar with another, not really synchronizing.

  • Ipod doesnt sync to windows outlook 2003 calendar

My 60GB color video ipod will sync contacts from Windows Office Outlook 2003, however, the calendar doesnt sync. I receive an error message stating that "Itunes can not sync calendars to ipod. try restarting outlook"?
Anyone got any advice for me, pls?

yes, i am discovering that problem as well. I found that i can sync each individual calendar event SEPARATELY.....which is extremely time consuming not to mention a pain in the ***. I would buy an iPhone but not if you can't hot sync your calendar....meanwhile, it won't hot sync my most recent contacts either......Frustrated in Collingswood, NJ

  • Synchro contacs & calendar between ITunes 6/Ipod Video and Outlook 2003

    it's impossible.....
ITunes did not see outlook on my pc.
In OPTIONS all synch well (music and photo..) but with calendar end contacts Itunes reports "you must have Outlook installed...."

As much as I love my iPod Touch, this problem syncing with Outlook 2003 -- and the failure of Apple to acknowledge it (at least there's nothing I've seen so far) -- has me ready to toss it out my office window. It all seems so random: Sometimes it's fine and the sync woriks, sometimes it's producing multiple versions of an appointment, and sometimes the appointment gets deleted from Outlook, the iPod or both. Looks like I actually do need a paper backup!! This is the second time that updating my iPod Touch has resulted in a major slip in functionality. The last time I was told that by an insider that Apple engineers dislike having to work out bugs with Windows, that they don't like Windows. Are we being punished? This is seriously annoying.

  • Problem for synchronizing calendars between my iPOD 30GB and OUTLOOK 2003

    Hello,
I arrive to synchronize my contacts between my iPOD and OUTLOOK 2003 via iTunes, but not the calendars.
    Thank you for your help

If you have EVER sync'd Outlook 2003 with a PDA then iTunes will throw an error when trying to sync Calendars.
    THE FIX:
    Delete all calendar entries
(an easy way to do this is in Calendar select VIEW > Arrange By > Current View > Events)
Then Delete all entries by highlighting them all right click and select delete!
NOTE: You may have to repeat VIEW > ARRANGE By > Current View > {other categories in list i.e. "Category" and/or "Annual Events" and/or "Recurring Appointments"} To find all the entries that need to be deleted.
Once all of the calendar data is deleted you can re-input the data, but you can never sync it with a PDA otherwise you will develop the original problem again.
WHY DOES THIS WORK? Simply when a PDA syncs with Outlook it places a unique hidden identifer on each entry which screws up iTunes ability to sync with your calendars.
Hope this is clear and helps someone.

  • Syncing iPod Nano with Outlook 2003

Hi folks! I'm hoping someone here can help me. I have 2 8 gig 3rd generation nanos (mine and the wifes) which are way cool. I use to have a HP iPaq handheld which I used to play music and carry my scedule and contacts on. However ther is very little support for this old device and I went to the iPod thinking it wouls eassily sync to Outlook 2003 on my HP Vista machine. I worked at first although it woulds only sync select few appointments on my calendar but my contacts were initialy OK. I got it to function OK on both iPods as my wife and I need to know each other's scedules and we use the same contact list.
But recently I have been having issues with the sync as it routinely gives the error message: "iTunes failed to sync with Outlook calendars (or contacts) please log out of windows and log back in" When I log back on my calendar and contacts lus is gone on one of the iPods and will not sync back short on resetting the unit. So far the list will remain on my wifes unit but I am SOL. Anny advice would be appreciated

This isn't going to help but I want to add that my 3G Nano has similar issues. I use Outlook 2007 and it syncs just fine, no errors. Problem is that none of my contacts nor calendar items are sync'd. I have selected Outlook in iTunes CONTACTS tab as the source to sync from too.

  • Is Microsoft Outlook 2003 or later required to run 5th gen ipod?

My 2005 5th gen died. A friend just gave me an identical one with a new battery and wiped clean of data. It tells me it can't synch with my library because Outlook 2003 or later is required. I have Outlook 2000. My original worked fine without what it's asking for. Any help would be appreciated, thanks

    Hello jpgirl,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
According to this Apple support document, yes, Outlook 2003 or later is required and Outlook 2000 is not supported. I'm not exactly sure how you were able to sync it with the 2000 version, so I'm not much of help there.

  • Syncing an outlook exchange and a regular outlook calendar to IPod Touch

I have a personal outlook calendar on my home machine and have had no problems syncing it with the IPod Touch.
However, when  I added the outlook exchange calendar I have from work onto that outlook program  (office 2010) and tried to sync with the IPod Touch, it only transfers appointments from the office outlook exchange calendar.  Nothing from the regular personal outlook calendar shows up any more on the IPod Touch.  Any suggestions so I can get all the information from both calendars onto teh IPod Touch?

Assuming you have a PC ,you can only sync one calender at a time. From the Usrs Guide:
    Calendars
    Â
You can sync calendars from applications such as iCal on a Mac, or from Microsoft
Outlook 2003, 2007, or 2010 on a PC. (On a Mac, you can sync calendars with multiple
applications. On a PC, you can sync calendars with only one application at a time.)

  • Why won't my iTunes (7.0.1.8 HP) sync my calendar from Outlook to my iPod?

In iTunes I have selected the box to sync all contacts and all calendars. However, when I update my iPod only the contacts update. The calendar does not transfer even though the message states the the calendar is being updated to the iPod. Any suggestions.
    Thanks.

I'm running Outlook 2003. I followed the directions and the link you recommended above and still cannot access the calendar events. The link suggests that if the directions still don't work, copy individual events which is too time consuming. I want to sync my calendar easily and update events like I did two months ago before I updated to ITunes 7.0 (and all events were wiped out). I have no trouble with contact updating. Sometimes I get a message saying "cannot update iPod. Cannot find the iPod." Then some is updated and some not, but never the calendar.

    Folks,
I have an iPod (30 GB). I wanna synchronize my
contacts from Microsoft Outlook 2003, but no success
so far. I have the latest iTunes build. I go to
    Preferences|iPod|Contacts and choose there "Microsoft
Outlook" from the drop down. What is suspicious is
that I don't see the list of contacts populated
there. There is just the "Synchronize all contacts"
option enabled. When the synchronization starts, I
allow iTunes to access Outlook, and then there are no
errors. However, there are no contacts on my iPod as
    well. Have a resolution?
    Regards,
    George
    Hi George,
are you synch'ing your ipod to another computer or just your laptop? seems you have to set Ipod preferences for each computer you synch w/ (e.g., desktop for music and laptop for contacts). FYI, my version of Itunes (6.04) doesn't populate a list of contacts, either, it just says synch w/ "all" .
    good luck, Mainlandhaole
