OutputText executing Javascript Code

[this forum|http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=897025]
Hi everyone,
I'm trying to include some javascript code to be executed when a jsff loads. In this sense, following the idea shown in this forum i wanted to include the script shown bellow:
<af:outputText value="alert(&quot;in script&quot;);
var x = document.getElementById(&quot;pg_scroll&quot;);
x.scroll(0,0);"
id="ot2"
escape="false"/>
(please, notice &quot; is the equivalent to ")
The main idea is to retrieve the id of the element "pg_scroll" that is a PanelGroupLayout with its layout set to scroll, and the set the scroll to the Top using that javascript fuction. The reason is that when the page loads, the scroll goes directly to the bottom of the panelGroupLayout.
When I tried it, the outputText is showing itself as it is. It is not executing the script. What am I doing wrong?
Any suggestion, idea, workaround?
Thank you very much!
Rgds,
Juanma.

It worked, Sireesha!
Probably it didn't work before because I was wrapping the script in a CDATA block... i don't know...
Now struggling about how to retrieva a component I have in the jsff to set scrollTo(0,0)... I'm trying with AdfPage.PAGE.findComponentByAbsoluteId(_component_id_), but I don't know how to refer to the component.
My PanelGroupLayout had id="pg_scroll", but
var x = AdfPage.PAGE.findComponentByAbsoluteId("pg_scroll");
x.scrollTo(0,0)
didn't work.
Any idea?

    If I remember right, I wrote this script a while back to demonstrate how java script can be direct executed and how you can get back the results. Didn't I wrote a commentary to that?
    However the parts you need:
    ' // Write JS code from help file or whatever to a VBS variable:

    ' // Execute the JavaScript
    Set AForm = CreateObject("AFormAut.App") 'from AFormAPI
    AForm.Fields.ExecuteThisJavaScript JsFromHelp
    From the rest keep only:
    end if
    set .. = nothing
    Untested, but should work - as far as you have a little bit more then only Reader.

  • Execute javascript after update and submit in Skillbuilders Modal Page

    Hi,
    I'm editing, say, list of my employees in a tabular form opened in Skillbuilders Modal Page.
    I have to execute same javascript code after the changes in the tabular form have been submitted.
    I've tried using a Dynamic Action fired on Page Load, but that gets executed before the update is completed.
    Does anyone have an idea how to accomplish this?
    Thank you!

    Thank you for your answers.
    Yes, I'm trying to execute javascript code on the child page, the modal one.
    Basically, there's a button on my parent page which opens the modal page. The modal page has buttons Cancel, Delete and Save. Clicking Save button submits the changes and if there are errors, errors are shown and we stay on the modal page.
    My modal pages are all of fixed dimensions and if there are errors, I have to adjust the other regions (adjust their height, add a scrollbar, etc) in order to show everything in the modal page.
    I have written a function that does exactly that, but I have to execute the function after the page is loaded and the regions are shown. But, if I execute it using onload attribute, or setting a dynamic action which fires on page load, the function gets executed during the submit, before the regions are shown.
    I hope I have managed to clear up the problem.
    As always, thank you.

  • Execute Javascript after *.jspx page rendered

    I have a page with controls and a subform with a servlet, rendering a jasper report:
                   <af:panelFormLayout id="pfl1" partialTriggers="cbReportHTML">
                    <af:subform id="sfRep">
                      <jsp:include page="/jasperservlet" flush="true"/>
                    </af:subform>
                  </af:panelFormLayout>
    I want the page to be rendered before the subform (so that user can see controls on page before the report).
    "/jasperservlet" generates the report in about half a minute.
    I want to have a JavaScript that runs after the page is rendered (and the user sees the controls) and then it starts to generate report.
    I tried to put a frame with such javascript, but the javascript is executed before user can see controls.
    How can it be done?

    Thank you for your answers.

  • Add additional Javascript code on OOTB sharepoint ribbon button.

    Hello,
    We have SharePoint Ent and Project Server 2010 SP-2 environment.
    So the requirement is like that we have 1 OOTB "Save" ribbon button for Project Server 2010 Project Detail Pages. Which actually Saves and Publishes the project updates into Project Server database.
    Here I have to execute javascript code basically to refresh the page right after user click OOTB "Save" button and Projects gets saved into database.
    But here I am not getting any pointer how to add this additional Javascript code into commandaction of existing OOTB "Save" ribbon button, so that my Project gets save and publish and also I'll be able to refresh the page right after the save and
    publish.
    Please help me let me know how can i hook into OOTB SharePoint ribbon button actions.
    Thanks !!!

    Hi,
    It will not easy to add actions to an OOTB ribbon button, there is a workaround that we can replace it with a custom button.
    Here is a documentation about Replacing a Button on the Server Ribbon:

  • Execute Javascript from our JAVA code

    Hi all,
    I have a question:
    It's possible to execute a javascript code from the back bean page. For example , we execute a button action (Conect to a db, insert data) and if all it's ok we execute a simple alert ("The insert is ok!!");
    Any way to do this??
    Thx!

    I don't know enough about Javascript, but I don't think it can be executed from within Java code.
    If you can't, an alternative is to provide a status code and/or status message that is accessible to the page. There are a number of ways to do this. One option is to put the information in a hidden field. Another option is to put the information in a session bean and add appropriate JSP code to your page to get that information.
    You can link a Javascript function to the page's onLoad event. The function can get the status code/status message and create the alert.

  • How to execute javascript function then Code Behind in an ASP Button

    Hi Guys,
    I am currently working in a web application. I have a problem with calling a js function and codebehind.
    I have this asp button that when clicked, a javascript function should be called.
    My javascript function is like this:
    function Calculate(){
    // Set Route in google map
    // Store distance, lat/long in an array
    Then, after the Calculate function was executed, it should execute the code behind:
    protected void btn_calculate_onclick(object sender, EventArgs e)
    // Pull data stored in the array created by javascript
    // connect to db
    // store data
    But the javascript function doesn't execute.
    What should i do?
    Thanks in advance

    I used Notepad to create a text file, markup.html, that contains html code. How can I get Firefox to execute this code?
    Also, how can I use the <script> tag in the html code using the src attribute to execute code in a file written in Javascript?

    First guess is that you did not use an .html extension on the file. The file may well be ''name.html.txt''

  • How can we  use java variable in javascript code on JSP page?

    How can we use java variable in javascript code on JSP page?
    Pls help

    Think about it:
    JSP/Java is executed on the Server and produces HTML+JavaScript.
    Then that HTML+JavaScript is transfered to the client. The client now interpretes the HTML+JavaScript.
    Obviously there's no way to access a Java variable directly from JavaScript.
    What you can do, however, is write out some JavaScript that creates a JavaScript variable containing the value of your Java variable.

  • Unable to execute javascript from backing bean

    Hello experts,  I want to execute  javascript function from backing bean method.
    In my .jsff  page,  I have added  the javascript as :
    <jsp:root  ..... >
    <af:resource type="javascript" >
              function fileDownloadJS() {
                                alert(" tesing js from backing bean");
        </af:resource>
    </jsp:root>
    in my backing bean method  :
    public void callJSfuntion(ActionEvent actionEvent) {
            RenderKit rk = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getRenderKit();
            ExtendedRenderKitService erks = (ExtendedRenderKitService) Service.getService(rk, ExtendedRenderKitService.class);
            erks.addScript(context, "fileDownloadJS();");
    I have table in my .jsff page,   inside table column,  I have command link  and when I click the link,   I am invoking bean method  :
    <af:table  ....>
        <af:column sortProperty="title" sortable="true"
                           headerText="File name" width="250px" id="Title"
                           clientComponent="true">
                  <af:commandLink   id="cl1"    actionListener="#{MyBean.callJSfuntion}" clientComponent="true">
                    <af:outputText value="#{row.title}" id="ot1"/>
                  </af:commandLink>
         </af:column>
    .</table>
    But when  I  run my taskflow and  click on  the link inside the table column,    JS function is not invoked.
    Absolutely  no clue what  is the issue.
    Appreciate if you can  help me out to resolve this issue.   Thank you.

    For debugging purpose can you try :
    <script type="javascript" >
              function fileDownloadJS() {
                                alert(" tesing js from backing bean");
    </script>
    put it on top of the page and let me know what happens.
    If it doesn't work try writing the function itself in your addScript(context, script); to see if it works.
