Override/Hide Master Page Footer?

I am working on my work's SharePoint subsite. The site inherits its master formatting from the main site's master page, and I have no access to the master page whatsoever. If it matters, I also do not have access to SharePoint Designer.
The master page provides a footer with a "Contact Us" link, and if possible, I would like to hide this footer because the contact info for the subsite differs from that of the parent site. Is there a way to do this with CSS/content editor/etc.
without editing the master page? (There is no option to create a new master page, either).
Thank you!

Thanks again for the fast reply. Yes, I did replace "FooterTitle" however, since I'm still getting familiar with CSS, I could have put the wrong thing for the div title. These are the titles I'm working with:
<footer id="v5-footer" class="s4-notdlg" role="contentinfo">
<div id="footer-left" class="s4-socialdata-notif" > </div>
<div id="footer-middle"> </div>
<div id="footer-right" class="style1" > </div>
</footer>
I tried the footer ID as well as the 2 div IDs. The only time anything seems to happen is when I used the class "s4-notdlg" but then all elements from the master page are hidden rather than just the footer. The “Contact Us” info is listed within the footer-middle
div. This is what I have been putting (and changing it around to see if any of the IDs might work):
<style type="text/css">
.footer-middle
visibility:hidden
</style>

  • Crystal 6.0 : How to hide the Page footer and Page Header of the Main Report on the Sub report.

    Post Author: pranay
    CA Forum: Crystal Reports
    Hi ,
I have a Main report and a Sub report .  When a subreport spans across multiple pages , the page header and page footer of the main report gets displayed along with it . I want to hide the Page Footer and Page Header of the main report when a sub report is displayed . Is there any way it could be acheived in Crystal Report 6.0.

I am assuming you are talking about the JSControl dropdown menu navigation. The easiest way to hide Community pages is to disable the Below Banner View for that navigation scheme, although it also disables the Subcommunties, Related Communities and Go up to Parent Community links. If you still want these in below the banner menu you could not display Community Pages in the "In this Community" tab and only leave the "Community Members and Knowledge Directly" link in there.
You would think that it would be better to remove the "In this Community" tab althogether but it is tricky to remove it due to the fact that there needs to be a default horizontal menu displayed all the time. Not all Communities will have a Subcommunities or Related Communities tab so these communities would not display any below banner menus at all if there is no "In this Community" tab, which could be confusing.

  • If a master page footer is changed why don't the changes appear on the pages?

The master page footer is not uniformly applied to the pages.  Page 1 lacks the chapter title but has the correct chapter number.  All the rest of the pages have both chapter number and title, but show the chapter number as 2.  I have updated the numbers in the book panel but to no effect.

Thanks, I did that but it did not help.  I have been messing with this first chapter for so long there may be a lot of conflicting instructions embedded that have not been cleared.

  • Hide Master Pages dynamically / programmatically

    Hi there,
does anybody know if there is a way to hide master pages programmatically?
Situation: I've built a PDF that contains two master pages. First page contains common master data. The second page contains confidential information which must only be visible for special users.
Is it possible to hide the second master page if a certain interface field is set to a certain value?
    Thanks in advance,
    Eike Menking

    Hi Otto,
I didn't build the confidential second master page. It came from the customer and I just used the template. The request to hide the second master page depending on the user was not foreseeable for me.
Additionally: the second master page has a completely different layout than the first one. So until today's morning it was reasonable to use two different master pages.
In fact I have already been thinking about change the layout to one master page + several subforms. But I don't have a good mind to change the whole layout, think about how to set different headers and footers on the not-first pages and so on.
So my question is still: Is there a way to hide master pages programmatically?

  • Hide Master Page

    Hi Folks,
I have a page with fields in design view, which is placed in the content area of the master page.
Now, i want to hide this page based on a condition. I am following the below steps to hide it.
I am writing the below code in the design view page (initialization event, form ready event).
    if ( $.HIDEPAGE_FLAG == "X" ) then
    $.presence = "hidden"
    endif
The fields present in the design view page are hidden, but I am getting a blank page. I am not able to hide this blank page.
Can you guys tell if i am missing anything here/how do i hide this blank page ?
    Kind Regards,
    Chaitanya

    Hi Chaitanya,
Instead of hiding the master page, dont trigger it.  Please find below link, which is used for dynamically trigerring master pages using subform property
Using Subform to trigger Master Pages dynamically
If you have only one master page and you dont want to trigger it.. while trigerring form from driver program, don't execute it based on the condition and just print a message accordingly.
Please let me know, if you see any issues in above procedure
    Thanks,
    Rakesh

  • FrameMaker 12 master page footer tab stops

I'm using FrameMaker 12 for the first time (have used other versions in the past). On the right master page, I hit Tab twice, and inserted two variables into the footer. On the Body pages, the text is cut off on the right. To fix it, I had to delete the center-aligned tab on the master page, leaving only the right aligned tab. That shouldn't have been necessary. Why did the text aligned to the right-align tab stop get cut off?

    What are:
dimensions & units of the footer frame
exact values (& units of the tab stops
    Justification of the footer para
is Columns set to 1 and Room for Side Heads off in the footer para
font in use (including file type OTF, TTF, PFM)
I have occasionally seen odd right-tab-to-frame edge behavior in earlier FMs. Frame definitely messes up R tab content if it thinks the tab stop is beyond the frame edge (it won't let you set the tab stop that way, but will let you reduce the frame size later).
Setting the R tab stop to 0.01 less than frame size usually fixes it. My random conjecture is that it might have something to do with round off of what FM shows in dialogs vs. what it actually stores internally.

  • Text wrap on Master Page items

RE:  InDesign CS2 on Windows Vista
    Hello,
I inserted a graphic on both of my master pages and applied a text wrap to them.  However, on my document pages, my text does not wrap around the graphics.  (In the Text Frame Options dialog box, the "Ignore Text Wrap" box is not checked.)  I know I can either override my master page items (and insert the graphic again) or control-shift-click on the graphic and force the text to wrap around it.  But that puts another link to the graphic in my document...and I'm trying to minimize the file size.
Do you have any ideas on how to make the text wrap on the master pages work on the document pages?

Text wrap on masters is not honored on live pages in CS2. It was added as feature in CS3.

  • Everytime I copy pages from one ID CS3 doc to another, it re-applies the master page objects!!

    Please Help,
This is a topic I would really like to get to the bottom of.
We have InDesign CS3 templates for creating our reports.
These templates contain around 10 different master pages with grey placeholder image boxes and text boxes with dummy text.
When we copy pages from one ID document to another, all the master page objects that were originally assigned to the pages are re-applied!!
Resulting in lots of grey dummy boxes and text boxes re-appearing on top of the page items!!
It's so annoying because we always customise the pages once we've pulled down master pages to work on, so when we copy pages across to other documents we have to apply the blank master to be able to kick out all the master objects easily.  Then we need to add the page numbers and footers back onto the blank master page.
My question is, is there a way to switch this off, so when I move or copy pages from one document to another, nothing happens relating to master page objects, the pages simply just copy across as they are?
Please help!  If not I may have to ask an external developer to write a script to fix this, it drives 900 of us crazy!
thanks in advance for any help.
Or am I just being ridiculous and not actually realising you can switch this off, doh!
    G

Just a bit of further clarification on this issue (very few people really understand what's going on with master pages and overridden master page items):
When you override a master page item, the object is moved to a local page, but a connection is maintained with the original master page item. This a) allows for the override to be removed (and return the object to its original state). This also, b) allows for changes made to the original master page item (other than the changes made to the local item from the point that it was overridden) to effect the local item as well.
When the connection to the master page item cannot be maintained, the local item gets disconnected totally from the master page, and becomes a regular, run-of-the-mill page item.
In light of this, there's three ways you can end up with duplicate master items:
Reapplying a master page (or applying a new one). When you reapply a master, all overridden master page items get detached from the master, and the original mster page item appears again in its original state. Most of the time this produces unwanted duplication of objects. To fix up your page, you have two options: a) Delete the master page item, and b) copying the contents of the original to the new master page item. The disadvantage of "a" is that you end up with an item which is totally detached from the master, and changing the item on the master will have no effect on the local item. The disadavantage of "b" is that it's a lot of work...
Moving a page to a different document. When you move a page to a different document which has the same master as the one originally applied, the master in the new doc is applied, and the effects are identical to reapplying a master page (i.e. overridden objects are detached). If the applied master (i.e. a master with the same name) does not exist in the new doc, the master is transferred over to the new doc along with the page, and the connections to the master page are preserved (well, re-created actually...). The workarounds in case #1 apply here as well.
When page sides change in a document, the objects on the facing page appears.
What happens here is a bit confusing, but here's an approximate explanation:
When you apply a master to a page or spread in InDesign, what you are actually doing is applying an entire spread to an individual page. You can thing of a master spread as an overlay (or more precisely: underlay) on the page with a window cut out to the exact page dimensions.
When the page side changes that "window cut-out" shifts to show the master spread items which correspond to the position within the spread of your current page (i.e. recto or verso). All objects which exist outside the window shift out of view (but still exist!).
When an object is overridden, the position of the object is defined by its location on the local page, NOT its position on the master spread. When the page then changes sides, the object remains where it was on the page (even though the object it's connected to on the master spread moves out of the window of view). A corresponding object on the facing page of the master (if it exists) will then show in addition to the overridden one.
Now remember: contrary to the first two cases, both objects are based on master ones: one visible one and one invisible one.
Dealing with this third case requires much more care than the first two.
The obvious way to deal with this would be similar to the first two, but if you remove the local object and transfer the content to the new maste object, the invisible master object on the non-visible page was actually removed, so when the page sides change again, the object will now be connected to the now-invisible master page item, and the correct master page item will be gone!
The "correct" way to deal with this would be to transfer the content to the new master page item and remove overrides (not delete!) on the local item (which will make it disappear, because it moves back to the invisible page). Of course, when page sides change again, it becomes necessary to repeat the entire process.
If the local object gets deleted, then your master spread is missing objects with no visible indicator of the fact. This can lead to confusion when the document might be edited at some later point in time.
I believe that this complicated and un-intuitive behavior of master pages is part of the reason people tend to avoid using master page items. Documents tend to get messed up in really odd ways... It's a real shame, because extensive use of master page items has a lot of potential for streamlining workflows and saving an awful lot of time. This behavior really puts a damper on really using master pages as templates.
Getting master page items to work the way they "should" was a big part of what I was trying to accomplish with AutoFlow Pro... When the master page items are defined as such (i.e. given a unique name), AutoFlow Pro solves all three of the above issues by keeping overridden master page items connected to the master page items on the currently applied master (and when a new master is applied as well!).
(When I have a bit of spare time, I think I'll write this up on my blog with some visuals to make this easier to grasp...)

  • Page Footer whitespace

I have an invoice report that had N number of line items with N number of lines of description per line item. The invoice displays all of the line items, and then at the bottom of the last page, it provides a signature block for the customer to sign. Here is my problem: If I put the signature block in the page footer, it's displayed at the bottom - which I want - but repeated on every page. If I put the signature block in the report footer, it's displayed on the last page - which I want - but immediately following the last line item. I need it at the bottom of the last page only. The closest I have gotten is to try and predict the number of page that I will have and then hide the page footer until (what I think will be) the last page. However, this still have the page footer whitespace to show up which isn't right.

I can confirm that even if the page footer is set to print only when a condition is true, all pages reserve the size of the footer.
What you can do is put your signature block fields in the "Watermark" band and set them to only print on the last page. Since the watermark can print anywhere on the page you can put the fields in the exact positions you want them to appear on the page.
If the signature block has a lot of fields, you can conveniently put them in a subreport and put the subreport in the Watermark band. That way you only need to set the print condition on the subreport rather than all the fields.

  • InDesign cs6 spell check and master pages

I have created a set of master pages for a template in InDesign cs6. When I create a document from this template and apply "spelling", the spell check goes through every master page before moving to the document. How can I stop spell check from going to master pages unless, of course, the master page is highlighted? I have tried locking all master page objects and have also tried selecting the option of not allowing selection of master page locked objects. I have allowed, and disallowed, the override on master page items Nothing seems to work. I would like "spelling" to apply only the pages in the document, or only the selected page in the document.

If you go to Edit>Spelling>Check Spelling
You get a dialog box - the only options are for All Documents, Current Document, Story, To End of Story, or Selection
These are the options for checking spelling, ignore masters is not an option, unfortunately.
But you can select a range of text and use the Selection option to check the spelling.
    Hope that helps.

  • Include Master Page Items in Table of Contents

I am building a table of contents in InDesign CS3. I've got paragraph style applied to my section heading and well as section subheadings. However, my sections headings are located on Master Pages (as they are repeating on several pages), and my section subheadings are located directly on the pages themselves (as they do not repeat).
When I set up my table of contents only my section subheadings show up, not both. When I go to a page with a section heading and override the master page item and then update my table of contents my section header shows up. Is there any way to include my secion headers without overriding the master page items?
    -Carina

I found this article about using Power Headers to override master frames that addresses the table of contents issue: http://in-tools.com/article/power-headers/power-headers-overrides-master-frames/
    Hope this helps!

  • Copying master pages between documents.

I Am laying out a book with 36 chapters and I formatted my master page and completed Chapter One.  Chapter Two is a new document and I want to carry over Master-A to each successive one.  I believe there must be a way to do it, but nothing I have tried works.  I am using Windows 7 and InDesign 5.5, version 7.5.

I created a new master page template and added my first chapter to it.  Everything except the chapter title from the master page footer appeared on the pages.  I went to the master pages and deleted the chapter title and then replaced it and reapplied the master to all pages.  The chapter title still did not come up on the document pages.

  • How to Insert custom master page menubar above suitebar in sharepoint 2013

    Hi,
I have created my custom master page. But it renders in sequence as Suite link bar, Ribbon bar, Master Page Navigation Menu.
I want that page to be as master page menubar, suite link bar and then ribbon .
Please tell me is it possible way to do it?
cause, ribbon is used often so if there is option when ribbon gets opened hide master page ribbon and when we click on browse in ribbon get the master page again.
    Please, suggest me any way?
    Thanks

  • Master Pages to Control Body Text Styles?

I think I must not understand Master Pages.
I want to create a set of text frames on every page in my book. I'd like the frames to be the same on every page, with the same font, size, justification, etc. for each frame (and I'm not threading the text frames from page to page).
If I try to use Master Pages to set all this up, and then override the master page by pasting different text on each page, I lose the ability to change fonts, font sizes, etc. on all pages at once. Since I've overridden the Master for that text frame, changing the Master no longer affects that text.
Should I be using a different way to set the font, font size, justification, etc. in the frames on all pages at once? (I'd also like to resize or move those text frames on all pages at once, too, but just pasting text into an overridden Master frame seems to leave me the ability to alter the frame itself.)
    Any ideas?
    Thanks for any help.

Yes, of course. Thanks. When I refered to the text frames, I meant the size and shape and placement of the frames.
So I can manipulate all the font and text attributes through Paragraph Styles, and I can manipulate all the text frames by changing the Master Page.
Perfect. (I have the latest ID on a Mac running Mountain Lion.)
