PAC Code Nightmare

On 17th July I rang BT and requested a PAC code for the two mobiles I have on a Broadband Anywhere account and was given what I was told was the PAC code BTMxxxxxxx (yes 7 digits) . Yesterday evening I rang my my new provider to give them the PAC code to complete the transfer on 1st August only to be told I had been given an invalid PAC code, it should only have 6 digits.
Since 8.10 last night I have been trying to get the right code. 8.15 this morning I was told I would be contacted with the code within 2 hours. LOL LOL LOL still waiting 5 hours later.
More calls to BT more hanging on the phone........ "Yes that PAC code is correct" a little research on the internet had told me it should only be 6 digits as advised by TESCO so I challenged this........... more waiting "no record of PAC code on my account" Quel suprise!!!!! Promised it would be sorted out and I will have the PAC code within 2 hours.
I am not holding my breath
And the moral of this story ........... BT are utterly useless, totally incompetent (unless this is deliberate to mess up the transfer) and if you do want to move your mobile phone, make sure the PAC code they give you only has three letters and six digits.
In the meantime if anyone has a hot line to someone who can actually give me my PAC code, I would be very grateful for the number
Solved!
Go to Solution.

Ring 0800 169 0850 follow the options to upgrade or leave. This will get you through to the people who will solve your problem.......... but be patient it might take more than a customer of hours LOL.
It goes like this..........
The customer advisor has to e-mail the people that deal with PAC codes (apparently they can't talk to them on a telephone!!) and they have to wait until the PAC code people respond to the them (by e-mail) and you then have to wait until the the customer advisor IS ON A BREAK and can ring you back!!!
Quite why BT make their advisors call customers back when they are supposed to be having a break is beyond me. I thought practices like that went out when they abolished slavery.
Oh yes got the correct PAC code, migration tomorrow............... I hope

  • Iphone not got network from orange to t mobile with PAC code

Hi.  I am sure there is someone on here who can help me...  I really just need some advicve.  I ened an orange contract on Friday 23rd with a pac code for T mobile.  I was told the switch would be done today Monday 26th.  This was switchng from orange 3GS to t mobile $S.  At about 11.00am my phone (3gs) stopped functioning and has since not functioned - not transferred over to 4S.  I have spoken with Orange and t mobile and they both blame one another - saying that it  could take up to 24 hours???  Is this tight???  Have I been given the right information?  I backed up my 3gs and then restored the 4S from the 3GS back up so that all messages , contacts etc would be transferred.  That all went ok - but I am still on the temporary number which only allows me to phone out, not use internet, texts etc.  Whos pulling the fast one here?  The number that was supposed to be transferred just sound unobtainable now.  Orange say that the number has been discontinued and t mobile can't see the number on my accountAny ideas?
Thanks in advance !  SM    Ive only been without the phone since 11am this morning - but its ****!!

Uumm - wish it were like that for me!  I have since been in to the store of purchase and discovered that the temporary number thay gave me is not in fact registered with anyone???  (although I have the sim and it works!!)  So - I had to have another iphone and another sim which is registered to my account now and hopefully the PAC code will still be accepted.  Having had a mobile number for 14 years it wil be a bit of a shock if I can't bring it with me.  Tut - the easiest tasks often turn into a drama!  Anyway, Orange account now closed and t mobile account active on temporary number and hopefully will port tomorrow!!  I was advised to backup my 3gs and restore the 4S from that backup.  This transfers all settings and messages etc.  This time I have decided not to do that - just in case something went wrong last time.  So I would be interested in finding a way to transferr messages without using a backup - anyone any ideas?
    Thanks.  SM

  • Obtain my PAC code

I wish to move from EE/Orange owing to expensive texts but they only handle requeasts for my PAC code over the phone, NOT via a text so how can I get it ? I am on Pay as you go so have no contract but only use my mobile for texting, never for broadband or voice calls eith in or out and find my costs with ee too high considering the limited use I have ie texting only, I am DEAF so cannot phone ee for the code

    Hi ,
I'm sorry to hear you are thinking of leaving. Did you know you can get an unlimited text pack for just £10 per month?

  • O2 PAC Code

Hello everyone, I was just chatting to an adviser on the O2 Chat feature however I wasn't able to get a definitive answer. What I want to know is, if I obtain my PAC Code, can I then give this back to O2 to open a new account. The reason I ask is because you can often find far cheaper deals on O2 that aren't sold directly by O2. So if I were to get one from another merchant (such as Carphone Warehouse), can I use my PAC code from my current contract to transfer over to a new O2 contract? I'm happy on O2, however I feel that the O2 Refresh prices are too much. Many thanks, Tom

You don't need a PAC to stay with O2.
If you don't want to upgrade directly with O2, take a new contract elsewhere then call O2 CS (202) to transfer your number to the new account.
This will immediately end your old account and generate any final fees, if they are due, so best to do this only when your current account has reached it's final date.

  • UK PAC Code... can you use AFTER activation with O2?

Here's a question for UK iPhone owners after next Friday, 9 Nov 07 (please excuse my ignorance)...
Does anyone know whether or not you'll be able to port over/in your existing mobile phone number DAYS AFTER you've activated an iPhone in iTunes (using the number "O2" automatically provide on the SIM inside the iPhone at point of purchase) by phoning O2 & requesting a transfer afterwards?
Let me put it another way... if I activate a UK iPhone on Fri 9 Nov, then get my PAC code (within 5 working days) from my existing network, "Virgin", when my contract expires the following week, THEN ring "O2" and give them my "Virgin" PAC code so I keep my existing number... would this work?
... because if you buy a 'normal' mobile phone in the UK, this is quite possible, but I just want to check if I'll be able to do this with the iPhone as I really want to keep my existing number & I don't think I can hold off activating/using my iPhone until I receive the PAC code from "Virgin" 5 days later ... can someone please confirm if I'll be able to do this? Thank you.

So you are saying that the recovery discs I made do include the copy of windows that was originally installed?
Absolutely! They will restore the hard disk to its original out-of-the-box contents. Follow the instructions in the section Restoring from recovery DVDs/media, which begins on p. 73 of the User's Guide.

maybe i can make a deal with wd to have them swap this drive out for the BEKT instead...
That would be a good idea in any case.
As I said, the 10-fc12-045d error would not be due to the drive's being AFT, but more likely the discs are not being read properly. New discs can be obtained from Toshiba. Scroll down to Get Recovery Media here

  • Please please please give me my PAC code

    Hello,
Has anyone else had trouble getting their PAC code from O2?
It's a very simple request, yet I spent over an hour on the telephone (paying several pounds) with six different people, sent a few emails to the O2 helpdesk, 'chatted' with O2 support and am now about to email a complaint.
    Thanks,
    An appalled customer

Hi All, can anyone advise if they have had this same problem with PAc codes?
A couple of weeks ago I called to end my contract after the 24 month period.
I was given a date of 19/06/2011 for disconection which was fine.
I then requested my PAC code (in the same phone conversation). I was told that as the PAC code was only valid for 30 days I should call back in a week or two. This was to save me having an overlap on my new contract whereby i would have two active sims at the same time. I was advised that if I took my code now I would have to set up my new account within 30 days which would mean an over lap in services. Very good advice I though.
Today I called O2 and was told they could not give me a PAC becasue I had already called my contract. I explained that I was told to call back for PAC code for above reasons and was again told there is nothing you can do about it. I then advised the customer services chap (Wayne) that I would call back and complain about this. I was then told I would not bother as it will just come through to this department.
I am moving to a rolling monthly sim to give me an a few extra pounds a month to put towards the new Iphone 5 when it arrives. My plan being to go back to O2 on contract when the phone comes out.
Unless O2 find a way to get me my PAC code or a way to transfer my number I will never use O2 again. I will also post a copy of this on as many boards and Forums as possible to warn others of the very poor service at O2.
It felt like two fingers up to me saying well thats what you get for leaving.
    any help or advice appreciated.
    regards Russ
All sounds a bit confusing to me. If you're staying with O2 but just changing to a monthly contract you wouldn't need a PAC. You would only need that if you were changing networks and wanted to keep your number. You should just be able to carry on using the same SIM. It's just your contract that's changed, not your network provider. I think you need to call CS again and clarify this with them.

  • Pac code oromised but not received.

After 2 years of poor service and lack of signal I have had enough if O2.Yesterday I rang 202 to give 30 days notice to leave. I was promised I would receive a text with my PAC code. I assumed this would be immediate, but have still not received it. How long does this usually take, and If I ring them again will they be able to give me this over the phone ?

You should ring 202 and request your PAC again. They should be able to text it to you almost immediately. Once you have your PAC you don't need to give 30 days notice. You just need to give your PAC to your new provider. That automatically cancels your O2 contract. There's usually an overlap, but you will be refunded what you haven't used. Don't cancel your Direct Debit with O2 until you get a final bill.http://community.o2.co.uk/t5/Pay-Monthly-and-Pay-Go/Cancelling-Your-Contract-A-Guide/m-p/566774/highlight/true#M56526

    Hi LaurenM2096,
Based on your description of the issue, it sounds like you need to have your iPhone serviced, or at least evaluated. You may find the following page helpful:

  • PAC Code

Can a PAC be obtained online without having to call? If not do you just call 150. Want to take number back to old network, BT mobile OK but as running off EE prone to frequent dropped calls or fails to drop from 4g to 3g on incoming etc. If 10 month left on lowest tariff then early termination charge appears to be £3.75 per remaining month is that correct? So it would cost me around £37.50 to get PAC?

  • Time code nightmare

I've captured DVCam footage that had been logged for 10 min increments. FCP captured all footage successfully from start of tape to end in 10 min clips, but the time code for each clip starts at zero. So I have 4 or 5 clips that all have the same time code, but are different content. Any ideas why this may have happened. Oh and it happened through several tapes before we noticed it. Strangely, the last clip on each tape captured with the correct time code...

time code on captured clips does not match that on the tape. The tapes have continuous code with no breaks. We are looking at media start/end as well as the box in the viewer that indicates tc as you scroll or play through a clip. For some reason FCP continued to capture clips but lost the tc information so they all start at zero--with the exception of the first and last clips captured on each tape, which as I said has accurate time code.

  • Time Code Nightmare won't end -- PLEASE HELP!

Capturing ndf dvcam tapes to fcp, fcp seems to be reading them as df. We've tried to recapture several times, once the tc seemed to be good, then the clips all defaulted to the zero start time code--as if the media were corrupt? Why won't fcp read these tapes as ndf? We have followed all suggestions on logging and batch capturing correctly. Has anyone ever encountered tapes that just have some funky extra digital info that screws up fcp? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Shane, thanks for your help. Ok, so what does this "DVCAM are drop frame" thing? These are DVCAM and definately NDF. FCP initially wants to see them as df, but after one or two seconds of play sees that they are ndf. They read as that in the capture window, on the deck, when paused, etc. And yes, we actually get time code when we mark ins and outs. In fact, we capture the clips and get time code, but once we've quit the project and restarted, the clips have lost their time code and gone to zero-start. What a trip. I really don't understand. Other than that fcp is reading as df and then gets whacked out at some point when the math doesn't work out...
What do you think? Also, we are considering skipping the batch capture and doing capture now once the tape is rolling and fcp can see that it's ndf. Can we set fcp to abort on tc breaks when doing capture now? Or do you foresee any other problems with the capture now process?
    Thanks!

  • How to get my new sim working? I cancelled with O2, got the PAC code and registered it with EE. I unlocked with O2. I have had texts off both companies, ''sorry your leaving'' and welcome to EE but now neither SIM works??? just says sim not valid

Cannot now access my iphone 5 to establish IMEI. the phone was still working with O2 when I switched the SIM over - now I cant get either to work

I assume the iPhone was locked to O2 as it was part of a contract deal ,if so this is the procedure for unlocking it from the O2 network and has to be followed to the letter
