Pacarm - script using ARM to resolve pacman 404 errors

Say you haven't updated your Arch box in a few weeks, and you suddenly realize you need to install package foo. In the last few weeks, foo-2.0 has been replaced by foo-2.1 in the Arch repos, so when you run "pacman -S foo", pacman looks for foo-2.0, doesn't find it, and throws a 404 error. At this point, you could either (1) update your entire system, which can be time-consuming, and then install foo-2.1, or (2) find foo-2.0 in the Arch Rollback Machine, install it, and update your system later. pacarm is a script that aims to automate this second option.
Depends on xyne's armh (available in AUR).
Disclaimers: This is the first script I've posted on here, so:
1. This script is quickly written, inefficient, and probably unsafe. Use at your own risk.
2. It depends heavily on searching output (lots of `grep`ing and `cut`ing), so if `pacman` or `armh` change the way their output is formatted, this script will break.
3. This allows you to install *outdated* packages. *DO NOT* report bugs for packages if you use `pacarm` as the versions of the packages you're using will probably be unsupported.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this isn't a partial upgrade because it's not an upgrade at all.
Say that foo-2.0 depended on bar-1.0, and when it was replaced in the repos by foo-2.1, bar-1.1 was also added to the repos. Now, if you have a system with bar-1.0, and you try to install foo-2.1, this could break the system as it is a partial upgrade (foo has been upgraded to the latest version, but bar hasn't). However, if you use pacarm, you would not be installing foo-2.1. You would be installing foo-2.0, which is the version that was in the Arch repos at the time that you last updated and installed bar-1.0. Using pacarm to install foo would get you the same result as having installed foo a few weeks ago when you updated.
The third disclaimer doesn't refer to partial upgrades, it refers to the fact that the versions of packages you will be using are no longer supported by Arch package maintainers. It's the same as just not updating your system for a month and filing a bug report for firefox, while in that month a new version of firefox was put in the repos.
tl;dr You're not partially upgrading the system, you're installing the old package that corresponds to your local pacman database. In fact, the goal of using pacarm is to avoid partial upgrades.

  • Download older version of a file from SharePoint Document Library using CSOM and 404 error

    Hi,
    I am trying to download previous versions including Major and Minor versions of documents from SharePoint Online using CSOM. I get 404 error when I try to download the file. I found several posts on various discussion forums where people are getting same
    error but none of those have any solution/answer. Below is one of the threads and sample code I have tried that results in 404 error. If I use the link in browser directly, I am able to download the file. Also I am able to download the current version of file
    using CSOM without any problem, it is only the older versions that give me 404 in CSOM.

    Hi,
    According to your description,
    I know you want to get older version of a file from SharePoint Document Library using Client Object Model.
    The following code snippet for your reference:
    public void GetVersions()
    ClientContext clientContext = new ClientContext(“http://SPSite”);
    Web site = clientContext.Web;
    clientContext.Load(site);
    clientContext.ExecuteQuery();

    clientContext.Load(file);
    clientContext.ExecuteQuery();
    ListItem currentItem = file.ListItemAllFields;
    clientContext.Load(currentItem);
    clientContext.ExecuteQuery();
    FileVersionCollection versions = file.Versions;
    clientContext.Load(versions);
    clientContext.ExecuteQuery();
    if (versions != null)

  • I'm getting DataSource.NotFound: OData: Request failed (404) error when open connection

    Hi,
    I have a simple OData service running in a server. When I try to call him in a browser all works fine. But in Excel Power Query, after the user authentication step, I get this error in Query editor
    DataSource.NotFound: OData: Request failed (404): The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found.
    Details:
        http://<URL>/GIPJAM/$metadata
    The service is configured in a server and he his public. The URL (working in browser) http://<URL>:91/GIPJAM/
    This may be a port (91) problem? My application runs in port 80. This 91 port is to guarantee that the server is public. For exemple, if I run in my home network, using the name of the machine in the URL (like; http://quiron.blabla.net/GIPJAM/) all works
    in browser and in Excel PQ.
    I've made every test I can remember but i'm newbie in OData services and server, IIS and network configurations.
    Anyone can help me?
    Regards,
    Filipe Almeida
    EDIT: I have this workaround implemented: https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/dc0ca6ff-6583-4373-a31f-acb95e8046ef/connecting-to-odata-feed-using-powerquery-216-results-in-404-error?forum=powerquery
    I'm using Power Query 2.16 and Excel 2013, with a Odata V4 Service in Web .NET API 2.2

    It looks like your service probably supports V3 and V4 or you'd be getting a different error message. What I suspect is happening is that the service doesn't know that it's listening on port 91 and so it's returning URLs embedded in your result -- either
    the xml:base on an XML body or the metadata link in a JSON body -- which don't reflect the port number. You can easily verify this by using Fiddler to look at the results. If any of them have an URL that's missing the ":91", that's an indication
    that you'll need to fix this on the service side.

    Hi flangemonkey,
    that mirror was not synced yet when you did the upgrade (the last sync ended today at 10:54 UTC, about 17 mitues after you posted on this borad). It should be ok now, just try to redo the update. Next time, you may want to check first the status of the mirrors https://www.archlinux.org/mirrors/status

  • BizTalk published WCF service throwing HTTP 404 error using ISA reverse proxy settings

    I have published my schemas as a WCF service from BizTalk 2010 "Publish WCF Service" wizard. I used Wcf-basicHTTP adapter in receive port. I am able to run the service successfully on localhost IIS and I tested my biztalk solution by sending request using SOAP UI and got response successfully.... Now: Actually, I need to give this service endpoint to my vendor who will send request from outside my company's network i.e. internet. In my infrastrucrue BizTalk is behind the firewall so, we setup a REVERSE proxy server at DMZ layer and it is configured properly. I have tested a simple WCF service by replacing the localhost with Proxy server configured address <DNSName> and it worked absolutely fine. But when I change localhost in my BizTalk schema based published WCF service it is not working and I am getting following error. Really strugling to get it resolved. I wasted a whole 3 days....very upset. Please help me out by giving the detailed step solution. Description: HTTP 404. The resource you are looking for (or one of its dependencies) could have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable. Please review the following URL and make sure that it is spelled correctly. Requested URL: /BizTalkServiceInstance/MyService.svc I am surprized why other c# code based WCF services are working fine with reverse proxy settings. Server Error in '/' Application. The resource cannot be found.Is there any special things to consider Biztalk exposed wcf servcie over ssl in IIS cluster with ISA

    Hi Singam :)
    First I would start by browsing any other files (files other than the one from WCF) just to ensure that the reverse-proxy’s redirection rules are set correctly. If you get the same 404 error when you try to access other service/files “through reverse-proxy”,
    then it’s an issue in the redirection rule(s) in reverse-proxy.
    If others are fine i.e. no issue in reverse-proxy setup as such, then try the following for WCF service's web.config file. I have seen this issue in WCF service (not just BizTalk’s artifacts exposed as service in reverse-proxy). Add serviceHostingEnvironment
    config as show with in serviceModel section.
    <system.serviceModel>
    <serviceHostingEnvironment aspNetCompatibilityEnabled="true" multipleSiteBindingsEnabled="true" />
    </system.serviceModel>

  • Executing a UNIX shell script using SM49

    I have been trying all sorts of things to get this to work and I have been un-successful
    I am trying to run the UNIX script using SM49. the command line that I am using is
    /test/directory/bin/testmail.sh
    the script testmail.sh looks like
    #!/bin/ksh

    I have tried all sorts of combinations to run this script
    example
    sh /test/directory/bin/testmail.sh
    /test/directory/bin/testmail.sh %f
    /test/directory/bin/testmail.sh %F
    does anyone have any suggestions on how to get this to run successfully. once I get this to run successfully in SM49, I am going to try it in the intregration builder of my PI process.

    Hi,
    considering authorization issues, you can use
    CALL FUNCTION 'SXPG_COMMAND_EXECUTE'

          additional_parameters               = l_path

        TABLES
          exec_protocol                       = lt_btcxpm
        EXCEPTIONS
    to extract information about files on the server
    I used this code to get detailed information for display including the attributes
    LOOP AT lt_btcxpm ASSIGNING <btcxpm>
        WHERE length > 57
          AND ( NOT message+57 CO '. '
                OR  message+57 = '..' )
          AND ( message(1) = 'd' OR
                message(1) = 'l' OR
                message(1) = '-' ).
        l_srvfil-type  = <btcxpm>-message(1).
        IF l_srvfil-type  = '-'.
          l_srvfil-type = 'F'.
        ENDIF." l_srvfil-type  = '-'.
        TRANSLATE l_srvfil-type TO UPPER CASE.               "#EC TRANSLANG
        l_srvfil-file  = <btcxpm>-message+57.
        CONDENSE l_srvfil-file.
        l_srvfil-attri = <btcxpm>-message+1(9).
    *    l_srvfil-time = <btcxpm>-message+44(12).
        l_srvfil-size = <btcxpm>-message+32(11).
        APPEND l_srvfil TO lt_srvfil.
      ENDLOOP." at lt_BTCXPM assigning <BTCXPM>.
      pt_srvfil = lt_srvfil.
    For the srvfil information I used this structure
    BEGIN OF typ_srvfil,
      %_box  TYPE flag,                                         "#EC *
      type   TYPE char01,
      attri  TYPE isp_rel,
      file   TYPE file,
      name   TYPE file,
      size   TYPE sytleng,
      owner  TYPE sy-uname,
      mod_date TYPE sydatum,
      mod_time TYPE syuzeit,
      END OF typ_srvfil,
    I do not remember exactly how the attribute information is resolved. In Unix all file system authorizations can be set as for the user, the group or for all and it can be read, write, execute granted. If you are no unix expert, ask one or google/wiki for some details.
    I wrote a program for navigation, display, and some more functions on the file system which is too big to post here and is not fully system-independent. Not perfect but useful and more than 5 years old. Contact me by mail if you want it.

    Now, if I search for it via the archlinux website, I can see that sfml exists in the repository, and so does vbam-gtk, as in the link above. Now, I could just download them both from there and be done with it, but then I wouldn't learn anything, so I'm here to ask, if these packages exist in the community repository, which I have enabled and have pulled from previously, why can't pacman find these packages? I know it isn't a network issue, or at least not an obvious one. I did
    sudo pacman -S xorg-xkill
    to test that theory but it processed faultlessly.

    Ah, thank you! I hadn't noticed that pacman wasn't automatically updating itself each time I ran it. I'm just coming over from debian-based systems for the first time, you see. Problem solved.

    It's not necessary to change the Command N keystroke..
    From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Privacy tab.
    Click:   Remove All Website Data
    Then delete the cache.
    Open a Finder window. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder

  • Finished script: Use grep find/change to fill in a supplied table of contents

    This script is now complete, and has been the subject of most of my previous posts. Just in case anyone wanted to know what the finished script ended as, here it is.
    Thanks so much to all. A lot of really helpful folks on this board are very responsible for the success of this task. This script is to be one of hopefully many in the creation of our records. But it's a huge leap forward. Thanks again to everyone that helped.
    Cheers,
    ~Nate
    Task:
    Automatically find town names in listings, and fill in table of contents template on page 2 accordingly.
    Example of page 2 toc, initially:
    Example of a page of content. The town names are what need to be referenced on the TOC:
    Example of page 2 toc once script is finished:
    Because of the need to include the transaction dates on the TOC (comes as a provided, tagged-text file), a simple Indesign-generated TOC can't be used alone.
    This script uses an Indesign-generated TOC that's on a master page called "T-tocGen" ... It then uses grep search and replaces to grab the needed information, and insert it into the page 2 TOC.
    The script will update a generated TOC and then search for an instance of a page number, and town name. The generated toc lists all included towns in the following format:
    (line start)## tab townName(line end)
    In Grep, this would be (please note, extra \ for \d and \t ... javascript needs that for some reason):
    ^\\d+\\t(.*)$
    After the script gets the info it needs from a found instance of the above, it replaces that line with "---", to prevent that line from being picked up once again.
    The script with then place the needed page number in it's rightful place on page 2, replacing the XX.
    A while loop is used to repeat the above process until there are no longer any instances of "^\\d+\\t(.*)$" present.
    Not every town runs every issue, so once the script is done, it removes all remaining instance of "XX" on the page 2 TOC.
    FINAL CODE:
    TOC replace
    This script will use grep find/change methods to apply page numbers in

    Thanks for the reply.
    You are correct but the problem is there are three rows, One row is 100% black, the second is 60% black and the third is 40% black. I want to change the black to blue, the 60% black to an orange and the 40% black to a light shaded blue. In the find/change option you can select the tint you want to find and replace but yea.. does work on table cells.. oddly enough.

    job_name => 'test_unix_script',
    job_type => 'EXECUTABLE',
    job_action => '/tmp/test.ksh',

    END;
    EXEC DBMS_SCHEDULER.enable('test_unix_script');
    4) test.ksh script had -r-xr-xr-x permission.
    5) When I checking dba_scheduler_job_run_details view, ADDITIONAL_INFO column display following error messgae.
