Packages in odi

hi friends..
I am very new to ODI.
Can any one please tell me how to work with packages and what is its function and how packages work???
soumya.

Hi Soumya,
Packages is the area,where we can use all objects like Interfaces,Variables and Procedures.By using these objects we can achieve the output.we cant get the results everytime, by using interface alone. So, by using package, we can execute the steps in sequential process as well as parellel process.If you open the package or create the package, you can find so many odi functions also which you can use for you r development.

  • Error while executing a package in ODI

    Hi,
    I am new to Oracle technology and when i am trying to execute one package through Oracle Data Integrator i am getting the below error. Even when i am trying to execute the procedure 'GENERATE_NAT_KEY' i am getting the error
    ODI-1228: Task Generate Natural Key (Procedure) fails on the target ORACLE connection ORACLE_OII.
    Caused By: java.sql.SQLSyntaxErrorException: ORA-00904: : invalid identifier
    ORA-06512: at "OII_ST.GENERATE_NAT_KEY", line 65
    ORA-06512: at line 2
    I am not able to figure out the issue. Can any one help me in this regards.

    Hi;
    You have to login https://support.oracle.com/CSP/ui/flash.html and you have to CSI account.
    This site is oracle site for tech. documents for can rise SR etc.. for more details please check Re: Installing Oracle Database 10.2.0.4
    you need to customer support identifier which is called CSI for can login metalink(https://support.oracle.com/CSP/ui/flash.html)
    If you dont have metalink account there is no way to see that doc.
    Pretty simple process:
    1) You purchase a perpetual or term license from Oracle;
    2) At the beginning of the period, during the valid term you purchase
    Support for the period (1 year);
    3) Oracle sends you the CSI.
    Easy to do at http://store.oracle.com armed with a credit card.

  • Error while excecuting of package in ODI 11.1.1.6

    Hello Gurus,
    We have migrated from ODI 10g (10.1.3.5) to ODI (11.1.1.6) using Upgrade Assistant utility.
    After migration, for most of the interfaces , we are getting error while running a package
    ODI-1228: Task <Interface_Name> (Integration) fails on the target MICROSOFT_SQL_SERVER connection ODI_Staging_DB.
    Caused By: com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerException: Could not find server '#GLOBAL.ODI_Server' in sys.servers. Verify that the correct server name was specified. If necessary, execute the stored procedure sp_addlinkedserver to add the server to sys.servers.
         at com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerException.makeFromDatabaseErrorhere, ODI_Server is name of global variable.
    We tested the query on SQL server, it returns a hostname of database server.
    Any idea what could be the issue ?
    Thanks,
    Santy.

    Actually, I already have tried doing that. Is there any task we need to perform from database side ?
    or do u think it would be issue with the JDBC URL that connects to SQL Server from Physical technology?
    Thanks,
    Santy

  • How to execute the package in odi

    hi
    i have a 3 interfaces.i have to put it in package and execute this package.but problem is that it is executing in a infinite loop.
    so how to execute these 3 interfaces serielly in package.(without in a loop)

    If you want to execute your 3 interfaces one by one you just have to define a First Step (Right click "First Step")
    And then to link the first interface with the second one with the Green arrow, and the 2nd one with the third with another green arrow...
    If after that you link the 3rd with the first it will loop...
    So avoid this.

    Hi,
    At what step of the package ur getting this error?
    ODI throughs this err, when
    e.g.,Suppose you are refreshing a variable with the select query and that select query has no data found in that case u can get the null pointer exception(one of the case).
    variable: p_refresh and in the refresh query is something like
    select 1 from dual where 1=2;
    When the above refresh query quites it through the null pointer exception.

  • ODI Multiple Packages export

    Hi
    I am looking to export the all the packages from ODI work repository.
    I have tried ODIObjectExport - It needs object id for every single package. I am looking for exporting all the package using single command.
    Please let me know if ODI has an option for the same.
    I am using ODI 11g 11.1.1.6.
    Thx in advance.
    Muthu

    Do you really want to export all the packages or are you looking to export all the scenarios? In the first instance exporting all the packages i isolation would be rather pointless as you first have export all the object it is dependent on i.e interfaces, procedures, models etc in order to make it a useful exercise. However if you really just want the scenarios then use the OdiExportAllScen tool

  • Launch a BI Publisher Report from ODI 11g

    Hello,
    I have a requirement where after a data load completes in ODI, a BI Publisher report should be launched which will email some pdf output to users.
    Is there a way in ODI that as the last step in the data load process, I can launch a BI Publisher report? We are using OBIEE and BI Publisher is part of that.
    Any pointers appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Manish

    Hi Manish,
    Sorry not been on here for a while.
    In ODI you can create an ODI Package which exposes a bunch of 'ODITools' , one of these being the aforementioned ODIInvokeWebService - you just plug in your parameters and it fires the message across - See docs here : http://docs.oracle.com/middleware/1212/odi/ODIDG/app_tools.htm#ODIDG858
    Once the package is working, you can create a scenario of this package in ODI. Once you have the scenario than you can invoke this from ODI directly or from the command line, or on a schedule, or even via Webservices (but I'd assume you'd just invoke BIP directly in this case !)
    Good luck.

  • ODI : how to publish data in an excel sheet

    hello every one!
    need your suggestions.
    On executing a procedure or a package in ODI ,i want to publish the output on an excel sheet .
    how do i do that?
    kindly suggest.

    Dear sutirtha thanks for your fast response .
    i was looking for the method that is to be followed for a job run in ODI through a procedure or may be through a package which can give us the output of that particular job run on an excel sheet.
    for eg:
    suppose i have a package named 'scheduled_1' which run on daily basis @ 5 AM and after its successfull execution it sends an email to a particular email id.
    now it is expected to send the whole of the output of the executed table/job to an excel sheet to an emailid.

  • Executing batch files from websevice using ODI OS Command

    Hi,
    Is it possible to execute the batch files using odi os command from webservices.
    We have developed a webservice, which passess some parameters to one batch file and after that we executing the same batch file in package using odi os command. In opeartor is showing as running, it never ends.
    But if we run the same package from designer, it is executing successfully. Also the same web service is working fine for executing non batch scenarios.
    what could be the problem??
    We got one possible reason for failure...
    For executing the batch from web services, we need read and executable permissions on the drive where batch sits.
    We are logging into ODI using SUPERVISOR. How to give the permissions to SUPERVISOR as we are having windows authentication.

    As a work around, can we use ODIOSCommand instead of OS Command. But it is asking for starting event? Whether both the commands does the same functionality??

    From the FAQ:
    2. How do you launch an external program on a Microsoft Windows platform from a program developed on the Java [tm] programming language?
    The following will launch notepad in Microsoft Windows NT:
    Runtime.getRuntime().exec("cmd /c notepad.exe");
    To launch a program in Microsoft Windows 95/98 use:
    Runtime.getRuntime().exec("c:\\windows\\notepad.exe");
    The Runtime class allows interaction between a program and its environment. The first string command instructs the command line interpretor, cmd to open up the calculator application.
    The exec() methods do not use a shell; any arguments must have the full pathname to the shell as well as the command itself.
    For example, to run a shell on the UNIX platform, type:
    Runtime rt = Runtime.getRuntime();
    Process p = rt.exec("/usr/bin/sh -c date");
    To run a batch file under Microsoft Windows 95/98:
    Process p = rt.exec("command.com /c c:\\mydir\\myfile.bat");
    To run a batch file under Microsoft Windows NT:
    Process p = rt.exec("cmd /c c:\\mydir\\myfile.bat");
    where 'cmd' and 'command.com' are the command-line interpreters for Microsoft Windows machines.
    The Runtime.exec() methods might not work effectively for some processes on certain platforms. Special care should be taken with native windowing, daemon, WIN16/DOS process or some shell scripts.
