Pacman refuses to upgrade ?

Evening everyone I had to reinstall arch and everything after I did something stupid.
And after I got everything installed and the desktop on and everything.
Then I tried to upgrade the system with sudo pacman -Syu so I can install my main dekstop.
And it says everything s installed is up the date and I know its not because I upgraded it this morning.
I checked my mirrorlist its all correct checked did it 3times.
I also reinstalled arch 2times and get the same pacman error is it just me or something ?
Any help is greatly appreciated !
Oh and heres another error from it:
[legion@arch ~]$ sudo pacman -Syu

Have you tried
pacman -Syy
Have you tried using a different mirror?

  • [SOLVED] Pacman refuses to upgrade due to missing key

Starting today, I get this error messge when trying to upgrade via pacman
error: key "7A4E76095D8A52E4" could not be looked up remotely
error: required key missing from keyring
error: failed to commit transaction (unexpected error)
    Generating a fresh keyring (https://www.archlinux.org/news/gnupg-21 … n-keyring/) doesn't resolve the problem.
Anyone else getting an error similar to this?
Any ideas on resolving the issue?

    One should follow https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Pa … mport_keys in case reinstalling pacman-keyring wouldn't sufice.
Using unofficial repos? May have a sig-key, which may need to be re-added. https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Un … positories

  • Solaris 8 x86 system refuses to upgrade to Solaris 9

My x86 system successfully runs Solaris 8 (Feb. 2000 revision A) but refuses to upgrade to Solaris 9. When trying to boot one of the installation cds in anyone of the installation modes, the boot process proceeds till the message "booting kernel/unix, ... use is subject to license terms". Next I would expect setup messages for the network interface, but instead I get a blank screen with a cursor blinking top left, and that's the end of it.
Well, to be true, it's not really a problem of Solaris 9. The same thing happened when I tried to install a patch set on Solaris 8.
What ways of diagnosis do I have?
Is anything in Solaris 8 not upward compatible?
Thanks in advance for every hint!
    Bernd.

OK after the DCA scans, it goes to a screen labeled "Boot Solaris" which indicates the boot drive. On that screen f4 is labeled Boot Tasks. Press f4 and go thru the settings to select the boot device and any of the other settings you might want to change. then f3 back to the boot screen and f2 continue. When the boot options screen appears, type in b -r. The DCA should not start up each time after that. To be honest, I had to do this a couple of times before something unknown to me made it finally work. Go figure!

Here is my mirrorlist url ,which I am using for long long time:

    HELP?

Ok, this was my dumb mistake again. I was testing out powerpill on my server which is a 32 bit machine. I tried copying my 64 bit mirrorlist to my 32 bit server because I have it ranked and slimmed down to only the essential servers.

this happens over and over and over again.  it wants to upgrade 'file'  i tried deleting the cache, that didn't seem to help.  i didn't see anything bad in the log file either.  any clues?

with the help of judd i was able to fix this issue, it was an old file directory in the pacman directories.

  • Issue with 1252AG - Refusing to upgrade to newer IOS

    Hello everyone,
I am having issue with one of 1252AG when trying to upgrade from 124-25d-JA1 to 152-2.JA1 with web GUI (IE 11 and Chrome) and TFTP while mode. However, none of them would not upgrade. But odd, second 1252AG did upgraded to 152-2.JA1 and work flawness. First 1252AG still refusing but acceptable with 124-25d.JA1 or lower. I am trying to figuring what going on and still suggesting with this. How can I fix this?

Try to upgrade using one of these methods:

    Removed unwanted packages manually

Anyway, as usual, I have to manually remove unused packages. Earlier, only tose packages that were explicitly installed, were upgraded. Now, it is forcing me to accept all, or none

  • Pacman stops under upgrade !

    Hi guys.
After an installation on my desktop at home, I got a funny problem. My network is working fine, but when I'm upgrading with pacman - it sometimes stop at 99% ? Then I have to stop the upgrade byu pressing CTRL+C , and then run the upgrade again - then pacman is starting on 99% and then finish the upgrade ???
What could corse that. On everything else the network works just fine ?????

Jup - buit its a strange problem - rigth ???
I havent got a clue what I could be .....
It happened the same as I install openoffice: 98% and stopped. Than ctlc-c and run pacman again and it works.

  • Pacman failing to upgrade

I've been having some difficulties with my system that are nested many times over.
I was following the instructions from the wiki here: Using mkinitcpio to put kernel back together
But it was at the point where I was downloading important files with pacman that I receive the issue:
    package-query: package requires pacman<3.6
That was fine until I just told pacman to upgrade itself and got the message:
    package-query: package requires pacman<3.6
So I said to myself, all right, pacman is completely broken on top of things. So fix that. On the same wiki page: How to fix pacman if it is broken
Following that advice, I download the packages openssl, libarchive and pacman and after consulting the linked script, manually tar -xvpf each file to root, minus the .PKGBUILD and .INSTALL files from each.
    The next line is:
    pacman -Sf openssl libarchive pacman
And yet again, I receive the message:
    package-query: package requires pacman<3.6
So I appear to still be at square one. And I still cannot seem to install mkinitcpio.
Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, if I've overlooked some important and obvious fix somewhere in my googling, please point me in the right direction.
    Thanks.

How did you come to that conclusion? There is no breakage here - you simply have an unofficial package installed that depends on a particular version of pacman, so the error message is displayed when you try to upgrade pacman to a version higher than the one required.
Also, the wiki link you posted relating to mkinitcpio describes a method of regenerating your initramfs image - it does not "put kernel back together".

  • If I connect my iPod Touch to iTunes on my MacBook Pro will it upgrade to iOS 5 automatically or can I refuse the upgrade and sync to iTunes anyway?

I had my iPod synced with iTunes on my iBook (OS 10.4.11) and then the iBook crashed and I had to replace it with a MacBook Pro (OS 10.6.8).  I want to transfer all of the stuff on my iPod to my iPhone 4S through the MacBook Pro.  But, I do not want to upgrade the iPod iOS (4.1) because my wife will use it with her iMac (OS 10.4.11).  She has no interest in upgrding the iMac OS to support iOS 5.  Can I sync the iPod with iTunes on the MacBooK Pro without upgrading the iOS from 4.1 to 5.?  This will let me go back to the iMac and sync the iPod with it.  I only need to do this once to offload everything on the iPod to the MacBook Pro and then to the iPhone.  I'm very reluctant to try this for fear of ending up with an iPod that won't sync with the iMac.  Thanks for any help you can offer.
    Ross

It will never automatically update.  You always will ahev to tell it to update.  it will never update unless you tell it to.
The pics and music sync is one way - computer to ipod.  The only exception is itunes purchases.  The ipod is not a backup device.
Cop everything from your backup copy of your old computer to your new one.

  • Itunes refuses to upgrade

I have an Iphone 4s with the latest version of IOS and the problem is that whenever I connect it to Itunes, it says "Iphone cannot be used because it requires Itunes 10.6.3 or later". So i tried to update my Itunes, but no matter what I do, it refuses to update. Always saying something or the other on the lines that I am not authorised or whatever. So I thought maybe I'll uninstall it, can't do that either as I can't find the uninstall and it refuses to delete from the control panel thing and no matter how I try to delete it, it just won't delete. I am at my wits end as I cannot manage to downgrade the IOS and I can't seem to update my Itunes, so I can't back up everything from my computer to the phone, so really it's useless having either! Please help!!!

I thought it was as its been forever since I updated it. but I clicked "about itunes" and it said it was 10.5.2.1. Anyway, I tried deleting all folders associated with it in safe mode and managed to delete all of them except programme files/common files/apple/internet services. I thought I'd still try and install itunes from the web but right at the end it said I had no right to do so! So that means I can't manage to delete or install/update. Service pack number is 2 and it's a vista home premium. I used to have an Iphone 4 with the older IOS and it used to work perfectly well with itunes. Whenever I tried to download itunes before, it used to give me the same problem, so I was fine not updating it as long as it was working with my phone. Then my phone was stolen, so I borrowed the 4s from a friend with an updated IOS and noticed this syncing problem. Now I have got myself another iphone 4 which has an updated IOS as well, and is showing me the exact same problem with itunes.

  • ITunes 7.3 refuses to upgrade

Tried several times and no luck.
Anybody having this same problem out there?
    Never had this problem before.
    Looking for any possible solutions.
    Thanks.

    Same problem here.
    1. Downloaded upgrade via Software update (download only)
    itunes came with 3 packages:
    - AppleMobileDeviceSupport.pkg
    - iTunesAccess.pkg
    - iTunesX.pkg
    2. Repaired permissions.
    3. Installed first 2 OK but iTunesX wouldn't upgrade.
    I'm running OSX 10.4.10
Anyone out there with any idea? Please. .

  • Why is pacman trying to upgrade arts?

I'm having a problem with pacman -Syu. It says:
    :: arts conflicts with kdemod-arts. Remove kdemod-arts? [Y/n] n
But I don't even have arts installed. Why is it doing that?
    Thanks,

I did the --debug thing and didn't find anything useful. Here is the output:
    debug: check targets vs targets
debug: package 'coreutils' conflicts with 'mktemp'
debug: 'mktemp' is already elected for removal -- skipping
debug: package 'qt' conflicts with 'qt4'
debug: 'qt4' is already elected for removal -- skipping
debug: package 'arts' conflicts with 'kdemod-arts'
debug: found package 'arts-1.5.9-1' in sync
    debug: resolving package 'arts' conflict
    :: arts conflicts with kdemod-arts. Remove kdemod-arts? [Y/n]
Didn't say who requires arts really. qt4???
I even tried to say Y to all the questions but in the end pacman give up saying cannot satisfy dependency.  dependency hell? Haven't had that in a long time.

  • Pacman won't upgrade

When I ran pacman it said that there wasn't enough disk space so I ran pacman -Scc (that freed about half my total space). Then I tried pacman -Syu again but that told me that everything is up to date. This isn't true of course because there wasn't enough disk space to update. What can I do? pacman -Q still lists all packages. It seems that it lists the new versions of the packages. Is it possible that it lists inkscape 0.46-6, but that in reality I have an older (not updated because of disk space) version? Will this be problematic or will the packages be updated to the newest version without problems when a new version comes out?
    Thank you!

    Hi!
If you have some idea of which packages that might be affected by this (possibly) failed update I guess you should be able to just pacman -S <list of packages> and it explictly reinstalls them..
A longer way (still asuming you know which packages that it was about to update) is to run them and see if the version in about boxes (or using  -V for command lines apps) and compare that with what pacman's think about the version installed.
The pacman log should reveal the packages it updated (or if it failed: which packages it thought it updated).
(woho! first post trying to help someone after getting many great tips by reading the forums :-) )
