Page item sequence numbers

Maybe this one is for a future improvement...
After reordering page items using the drag and drop feature the items all have a sequence number one greater than it's predecessor.
This makes it hard to put a new item in between existing ones. Generating sequence numbers 5 or 10 apart would make this a bit easier.

hi,
i dont know whether you have tried this before...
10
10.1
10.2
10.3
20
20.1
20.2
30
this is acceptable in apex item sequence number for inserting new items .
Thanks

    I'm experiencing major synchronisation issues on ICloud, especially for documents created on my Mac in pages, keynote and numbers. Contacts and agenda items work fine. I checked all my account settings. But while I can upload documents from my MAC onto ICloud, they don't show on my IOS devices (whereas previously this worked without issues).

    On this Mac I did move all the visible iCloud documents out of iCloud, into another folder, then disabled syncing, exactly as you suggested.  But there were, apparently, documents remaining in my Mac's local iCloud store, "~/Library/Mobile Documents/" that I could not see (so could not remove). The Pages file "CSU-PD-UN1.pages" was one such document.
    The act of disabling iCloud's document sync'ing, in System Prefs, just renames the local "iCloud" store to "~/Library/Mobile Documents/<appleid#>/" effectively shielding the it from the sync'ing mechanism.  Looking at this renamed folder (the screenshot above) revealed that "CSU-PD-UN1.pages" (and other files) had not been removed; it would be reasonable to assume that one, or more, of these "undeletable" files were related to my original problem, and when I re-enabled doc sync'ing, those bad files would just clog up the works again.
    So I deleted them with the Finder on both Macs (the other Mac had bad files too, but different ones), then re-enabling sync'ing on the two Macs and doc sync'ing between the Macs (and iCloud.com) appears to now work as intended.
    Sadly, iOS devices (iPhone and two iPad) now do not sync at all.  Newly created documents do not migrate to any other devices, and documents on other devices do to migrate to the iOS devices.
    Your suggestions have certainly done some good, but something is now keeping my iOS devices out of the the iCloud doc sync'ing process.  I suspect it's a similar problem as the Macs had ("invisible" files gumming up the works), so I'm going to apply some nasty tricks to explore the iOS devices file system and see if I can find them, and delete them by brue force.

  • Enhancement Request: Recalculate Sequence Numbers

    Hi
    Wherever apex has sequence numbers (for branchs, items, regions etc.), please could we have the ability to recalculate them based on increments of ten so for example items as follows:
    P_ITEM1 - sequence = 1
    P_ITEM1 - sequence = 11
    P_ITEM1 - sequence = 12
    P_ITEM1 - sequence = 100
    P_ITEM1 - sequence = 120
    Would become:
    P_ITEM1 - sequence = 10
    P_ITEM1 - sequence = 20
    P_ITEM1 - sequence = 30
    P_ITEM1 - sequence = 40
    P_ITEM1 - sequence = 50
    The option to exclude items with a sequence number of 999 from the recalculation would also be handy. This can become a bit of a pain when a page has been updated many times and you end up with bunching of sequence number so that if something has to be inserted between them, you have to edit a number of items or whatever to make that happen.
    If you could do a page-wide or application-wide recalculation - t'would also be cool.
    If this feature is available already, please point me to it.
    Cheers
    Ben

    The Cleanup feature Paul mentioned is new in 4.0 but fyi in any version component sequence numbers accept non-integer values so you can always insert something anywhere without a need to resequence...Thanks! I never knew that! Oh yes. And they can be negative too. We have some very esoteric looking sequences...
    Actually the decimals are pretty useful for things like conditional display of regions. If you've got 3 related but mutually exclusive regions, numbering them 20.1, 20.2, and 20.3 indicates the relationship between them. Which brings me to another enhancement request: regions to have separate name and title properties (like pages do), so that where such regions have to have the same title shown to users, it's a lot easier for developers to tell them apart.

  • SkillBuilders Modal 2.0 plugin with a page-item button - pass parameters

    Hi all.
    I have an employee table, which is connected with a 1:N relationship to two tables: Emp_Tech_Fields and Emp_Kids.
    I've created a form to update / insert employee data, and I want to add two modal pages: one for kids and one for tech_fields. I think this will be the most usable way for this form.
    I've created two page-item buttons on that form, which open the respective modal pages successfully, but I can't dynamically pass them the EMP_ID in order to filter the data in them.
    Iv'e uploaded an example to http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=64921:1:6401028834215::::: guest / gu12est3
    Document Types is a report with a link-column which opens a modal page with data filtering, as it should.
    Employees (click an edit link) has two buttons: Kids, which open the modal form, but does not filter, and Tech Fields, which is filtered hard-coded with EMP_ID = 1 (see in the dynamic action definition).
    As far as I understand, this should be something quite easy and day-to-day, so I don't know why I did not find a way to do this. What am I missing?
    Any help will be greatly appreciated,
    Dovi.

    Hi Dovi,
    I had a look at your application and can see the link your using for the kids and tech fields modal isn't passing the session ID which is why it is asking you to log in again.
    Below is an example URL for your issue, it isn't tested though.
    f?p=&APP_ID.:20:&APP_SESSION.:::19:P20_EMP_ID:&P19_EMP_ID.:: You will need to change the page numbers of the pages and items to match the page numbers of yours. This is using the statically defined url inside the plugin itself, I have also only done this in an earlier version of plugin but believe the functionality is very similar.
    Hope this helps.

  • How to enter a page break in numbers

    how do you enter a page break in numbers?

    In Numbers there is no concpet of "entering a page break".  You look at the print preview which you see when you select the menu item "File >Print...".
    If the pagination is correct you click the "Print" button.  If not then you click the "Done" button and move content around.  Often I place, temporary, rectangles on a page that take up the full page so I know where to put content, then remove them before printing.

  • Very intermittent missing page regions / report rows / page item values

    My goals in making this posting are twofold:
    1. I'm looking to see if anyone else has experienced this type of issue before.
    2. I'm looking for ideas about what can be done to debug such an infrequent bug with serious implications.
    Synopsis
    I'm having a weird problem where very infrequently I will load a page and I'll notice that one or more page regions, report rows, or page item values are missing. If I reload the page the missing parts appear as they normally should.
    By "very infrequently" I would say it happens to me somewhere between 1 in 100 and 1 in 1000 page loads, of course at my last project demonstration in happened twice in 10 minutes to my demo participants. I've attempted to debug this, but most of the techniques I know of involve reloading the page or reposting the form data and (of course) everything looks fine then.
    Environment
    * This has happened on multiple different pages, under ApEx 3.1 (Linux) and 3.2 (Solaris).
    * I believe that so far I've only ever seen this under Firefox 3/3.5 under OSX, but since I do the vast majority of my development with this browser it's not reasonable to conclude that it only happens under Firefox.
    Logs
    * No application errors during this timeframe.
    * Nothing of significance in the database alerts log (just thread notes and log sequences).
    * Nothing of significance in the webserver log (just the usual mod_ossl connection errors).
    Thanks for your attention,
    Jason

    Well, thanks for reading the post anyway.
    While working through some debugging steps I realized that I was populating some of the regions as the page rendered using AJAX -- this would pause the page rendering until the AJAX request returned. I believe that a hanging AJAX call was the likely culprit of the very intermittent symptoms I was seeing.
    I moved the AJAX calls to the last region of the page and added a javascript function that "watches the page load" by checking for regions by ID and looking at javascript boolean flags to let me know when the page is fully rendered. If this process takes longer than 5 seconds it notifies the user that something happened and offers to reload the page for them in an effort to fix the issue.
    So far, so good -- but it will take a lot of testing to convince me that this case is solved. I hope my documenting this is helpful for others in similar situations.
    Good luck,
    Jason

    Hi K,
    One way to achieve a result similar to what you are looking for is to use a combination of pop-up menu for the initial choice and a slider or stepper to make the second choice. The example below uses a slider. The formula would be the same for a stepper cell in column B of Main.
    Column A contains a series of pop-up menu cells with for choices: -- (no choice yet made), Red, Blue and Green.
    Column B contains a series of slider cells, each with the same values: Minimum: 0, Maximum: 3, Interval: 1.
    Each cell in Column C contains the formula below, which uses OFFSET, MATCH and the value set by the slider to retrieve the correct value from the Lookup table.
    Main::C2, and filled down: =IF(A="--","--",OFFSET(Lookup :: $A$1,B,MATCH(A,Lookup :: $1:$1,0)-1,1))
    Results for various combinations of the pop-up and slider cells are shown.

    Barry

  • Trouble with using javascript $s function to populate a page item

    Hello Oracle APEX Community,
    I'm working on a drilldown dashboard page and have been encountering a problem when i try to populate a Text Page Item (hidden or not) using the javascript built in $s function.
    The function works great when the data is a number such as dept_id (even if the field type is varchar). However, trying to pass anything which is a text the process fails, except when a value is hard-coded as a parameter for the function. So for example, I have a chart with counts of constituents by state. I would like to populate (filter) a table based on when you click on a bar for a state without having to submit the page. I'm using dynamic actions and a built in javascript function in the SQL for the chart to accomplish this; but again, it works great when I use a varchar field like the FIPS code (i.e. the FIPS for Texas is '48'), but when I try to populate the page item using the state abbreviation 'TX' (again varchar) it fails.
    Here's an example of code that works:
    SELECT 'javascript:$s("P1_DEPTNO",'||d.deptno||')' LINK,
    d.dname LABEL,
    sum(e.SAL) sal
    FROM emp e, dept d
    where e.deptno = d.deptno
    group by 'javascript:$s("P1_DEPTNO",'||d.deptno||')', d.dname And here's an example of code that does not work:
    SELECT 'javascript:$s("P1_DEPTNO",'||d.loc||')' LINK,
    d.dname LABEL,
    sum(e.SAL) sal
    FROM emp e, dept d
    where e.deptno = d.deptno
    group by 'javascript:$s("P1_DEPTNO",'||d.loc||')', d.dname However, when I hard code a text value the script works:
    SELECT 'javascript:$s("P1_DEPTNO","BOSTON")' LINK,
    d.dname LABEL,
    sum(e.SAL) sal
    FROM emp e, dept d
    where e.deptno = d.deptno
    group by 'javascript:$s("P1_DEPTNO","BOSTON")', d.dname
    ORDER BY d.dname I'm encountering this problem on several versions of APEX: (4.0.2.00.07-local installation) and (4.1.0.00.28-apex.oracle.com)
    Does anybody know of this problem and how to solve it? I've looked for settings on the page item itself, and can't figure it out.
    I've re-written my sql to utilize the value fields of my tables instead but I have some objects on the page which are really going to depend on the character based data instead.
    Thanks,
    Wayne

    In your javascript you are generating, surround your value with double-quotes and it'll should then always work with both numbers and strings (your strings are probably being interpreted as variable names and they don't exist at runtime, hence erroring out).
    Example:
    SELECT 'javascript:$s("P1_DEPTNO","'||d.loc||'")' LINK,Edited by: gti_matt on Aug 16, 2011 9:50 AM

  • Submit page item using AJAX

    Hi All,
    Thanks for any help in advance.
    I am trying to submit an item into the session by using AJAX iin version 4.1
    I have a application process which is an on demand: run this application process when requested by a page process.
    begin
      :P4_FISCAL_YEAR2 := :AJAX_4_FISCAL_YEAR2;
    end;then in the item :P4_FISCAL_YEAR2 have the html form element attributes set to:
    (also the page item is set to None(Default) on page action when value changed.
    onchange="selectChanged6(this)"and a page process
    <script type="text/javascript">
    function selectChanged6(filter)
    var get = new htmldb_Get(null,$v('pFlowId'), 'APPLICATION_PROCESS=SET_4_FISCAL_YEAR2',0);
    get.add('AJAX_4_FISCAL_YEAR2', filter.value);
    var ret = get.get();
    </script>The item doesnt seem to be submitting into the session and I cant figure out why, Thanks

    Marie,
    I think I have acomplished what you are looking for but if your goal is quick response time then this can fluctuate since there is 1 ajax call made to set your item value and another ajax call for every chart you want to refresh.
    This solution assumes the following:
    1. all reports are in the same language and in english.
    2. all reports are flash charts.
    here is a demo: http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=43401:23:0
    Go into your chart template and add the class refreshable_chart
    <div class="rounded-corner-region refreshable_chart" id="#REGION_STATIC_ID#" #REGION_ATTRIBUTES#>
    ...Create the following dynamic action on your chart page:
    Name: refresh_chart
    Event: Change
    Selection Type: Item(s)
    Item(s): P4_FISCAL_YEAR2
    True actions:
    Sequence: 10
    Action: execute pl/sql code
    Code:
    NULL;
    {code}
    Page Items to Submit: P4_FISCAL_YEAR2
    Sequence: 20
    Action: Execute JavaScript code
    Affected Elements:
    -- Type: jQuery Selector
    -- jQuery Selector: .refreshable_chart
    Code:
    {code:javascript}
    this.affectedElements.each(function(){
      apex_RefreshFlashChart(&APP_PAGE_ID., this.id.substr(1), 'en');
    {code}

  • LR3 Web Gallery Sequence Numbering bug?

    Anyone else getting this problem with sequence numbering in the web HTML templates? Basically, as you jump through photos the photo number is always stuck on #1, never changes when you go to the next photo - should go 1, 2, 3, 4, 5...
    I just sent a bug report but, wondering if anyone else found a fix for this yet.
    This is in LR3 on Mac - really trying to do this on TTG Highslide gallery but, same problem occurs in default Lightroom HTML gallery.
    Thanks.
    ******BUG******
    Concise problem statement:
    Steps to reproduce bug:
    1. Go to Web Module
    2. Choose default HTML Gallery
    3. Under Image Info set Caption to Sequence
    Results:
    Sequence caption always shows 1/total images.
    i.e. 1/10,  1/10,  1/10,  1/10
    Expected results:
    Sequence should increment current image number / total images as you click through images.
    i.e. 1/10, 2/10, 3/10, 4/10

    Yeah, still have the numbering problem using the Image Info sequence outputs.
    But, if you use the standard Lightroom Flash Gallery it has it's own sequence numbering output (that does not use Image Info captions)  and it does work correctly. These show up as 1/9, 2/9, 3/9 etc. on each photo down by the back/next buttons.
    Also, the Cell Numbering does work when using the Lightroom HTML Gallery - though, those numbers only appear on the index page not on individual photos.
    But, haven't seen a good work-around yet for sequence numbering in Image Info area. Only option there seems to be typing numbers manually into the caption. Or, if you need the caption for other info maybe use one of the IPTC fields like Headline to type in your numbers. You can then do a Custom Setting in web module to have those text fields show up with your photos.
    Really hoping we will see a LR 3.1 sometime soon with a fix - should be an easy correction for Adobe.

  • Display as Text page items - How to change color based on Value

    Hi,
    I have a bunch of page items that I would like to display in red if they contain a minus "-" sign. My guess is that this can be done with a template. Right now they are using the Optional Label with Help template. How might I elegantly specify to display a red font if the text contains a minus sign?
    I have done this before with report regions which include conditions and I just tagged a condition to a column template and I am looking to do something similar.
    Thanks!

    You haven't had a response... I was wondering if you could answer the question I posed of where are the "Display As" templates?
    It seems that there is nothing on the forum or WEB about them. They must be in a CSS sheet somewhere, but I don't even have access to those folders at work.
    I exported a "theme" and started to look through the sql code that created the CSS file (at least that is what I think it does) but it is about 170k and it is slow reading... I have tried searching on several key words but no luck yet.
    I appreciate any insights you have. It seems to me that the display as templates would provide some real cool features...
    turn negative numbers red
    gray out non-updateable fields
    The look and feel that would meet a design standard for a specific company...
    Best of luck,
    Sam

  • Numeric Dimensions with Page Items

    If you have a numeric dimension such as a period number when you select the Page Item 'ALL' and it aggregates the rows it also aggregates any numeric dimension. Can you stop this other than changing the numeric dimension to a character object. ( this effects the sort sequence)

    You need to loop.
    Check out "Referencing Arrays,Referencing Values Within an On Submit Process" sections in following documentation.
    This should give you fair idea.
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10513_01/doc/apirefs.310/e12855/apex_app.htm
    For example if you have report with following query
    SELECT APEX_ITEM.TEXT(1,column_name) FROM myTable;
    and if you have 10 rows in table, then 10 text items will display on your page.
    Since we have given the ID (p_idx) as 1, we can refer these text items using G_F01 global array. (If its 2 then G_F02 etc. we can have upto 50 dynamic item on one page)
    G_F01.COUNT gives us "number of items"
    G_F01(i) gives us value of i ^th^ text item value.
    Hope it helps

    Hari

    Hi,
    You might be able to adapt this solution to work for your case: https://acrobat.com/#d=*2slxPLc6c-H0U449vA4jQ. It's more about page numbers for different Master Pages, but you may be able to tie it to the different data nodes.

  • Is it possible to place display co-ordinate for page item

    In any one of the reagion, if i want to display the label as "Name" in Row Number 15, column no 10 (assuming screen size is 25 rows and 80 characters ) and input column on specified row and column. (here row is vertically numbered and column is horizontally numbered) This will facilitate myself to place any page item in anywhere. Using Ajax, possibility may also be suggested so that i shall try to explore it.
    Help is thanked in advance

    dr.s.raghu,
    You can position elements using absolute positioning but this will not be as easy as it sounds. You may need to create a very specific theme (or at least a few templates) for this.
    Have a look at this:

  • Sequence numbers - with no gaps!

    I seek some advice from anyone with first hand experience in this area.
    My need is simple; generate a new ID number for every order for use as the primary key.
    Obviously this simple exercise could be a bottleneck as volumes ramp up, so I was pleased to find the Oracle feature to generate such numbers (efficiently presumably). However, upon closer reading it was apparent that aborted transactions would result in the loss of the number allocated to to that order if another transaction had obtained the next sequence number already (as one would want it to, rather than serializing transactions).
    I don't want to have gaps in the sequence as the system needs a high degree of auditability. I am thinking of utilising the Autonomous Transaction feature to write the newly acquired sequence number to the order file with a flag indicating that the record is incomplete, and that record is to be skipped by normal system applications (but available to audit reports which will interpret the reason correctly), then returning to the far more extensive main transaction which updates many tables.
    The other alternative is to control sequence numbers within the application itself, or try to get the sequence number as the very last step before writing the new order record, but this probably won't guarantee gapless reliability either. The ID itself has no significance, and it doesn't matter if an ID was used out of strict date/time sequence, so I really don't want to execute these updates serially.
    So, my question is this:
    a) do most people use the builtin sequence number feature?
    b) if so, is there a standard technique for avoiding or accounting for gaps?
    c) if the application must take over this task, should the counter for the last used ID be in a single row table to minimise bottlenecks caused by the thisrecord being locked? There will be several such counters for different aspects of the application, and i thought of having each in its own row in a small table, but I'm concerned about the whole table getting locked and freezing out otherwise-unrelated updates.
    Thanks for any advice you may have.

    I don't want to have gaps in the sequence as the system needs a high degree of auditability. One of the very very few reasons for me to have a requirement for "gapless" sequences is if you have a kind of checking mechanism outside of the database that is implemented using this gapless number. I had such a requirement once, when exchanging files with another bank where we had to ensure that each file was transferred correctly and in the right order. Your "high degree of auditability" might be a similiar requirement. Just remember as long as you are still inside the database you can use other mechanisms to increase auditability.

I don't see why you want to use Autonomous Transactions for this. It might be useful to lessen locking conflicts , depending how your future sequence mechanism will be built.

It needs to be set to NOCACHE of cause. This will garantee that the sequence fetched from mySeq.nextval is gapless. The problem is then in your application. Your application must be built in a way that it ensures to use this sequence, or at least to create a noticable alert when this generated sequence can't be used anymore. In essence this means. Each unhandled (database) error that happens after you fetched the next sequence value must be raised in a way that informs all relevant people about this error.
    Example: It might be that you use the sequence to write an order file. What happens if halfway through writing the file your disk runs out of space? This can be such an issue where a sequenced value will be lost. Your organisation must take care of those things.

    So, my question is this:
    a) do most people use the builtin sequence number feature?Yes. But for some tasks a sequence is not the best way, for example if you want a numbering for each item of your order. This "sequence" needs to restart with every new order.
    b) if so, is there a standard technique for avoiding or accounting for gaps?NOCACHE => Avoids gaps during generation
    Database Trigger => Tries to use the sequence as late as possible
    c) if the application must take over this task, should the counter for the last used ID be in a single row table to minimise bottlenecks caused by the thisrecord being locked? There will be several such counters for different aspects of the application, and i thought of having each in its own row in a small table, but I'm concerned about the whole table getting locked and freezing out otherwise-unrelated updates.This is a possibility and the issues you describe are why we avoid such a solution in general. Autonomous transactions help to reduce the locking conflict, but they increase the chance that you produce gaps.

    CSOracle can guarantee to produce gapless sequences. But it can't guarantee that your application uses such a sequence in a gapless way.
