Pages time out

We have five in house built applications that run on the same server. However, one application seems to be timing out lately. Different pages, different hours of the day, different states (from CA, to TX, to MS, to FL), etc. Whenever one of the pages times out, the user calls and I try and duplicate by doing the exact same transaction on the same page, and it works for me without any issues. I call the sever admins located in AL and they say that the sever is fine and that the page is coded incorrected. Something call JRUN detected a problem and locked the page and when I used it, the lock was released.
This does not make sense to me. If the page/pages are coded in correctly, shouldnt they always fail ? Logically, that makes sense. But different pages fail at different times and we cannot pinpoint where teh problem is to try and fix it. One major difference between this app and the others is that this one still uses two pages, the form and action page. Some pages were rewritten to combine both into one page but that did not seem to solve the problem. We looked at the tables and they seem to be ok. We looked at the queries and ran thru analzyer and they completed quickly,no hangups. Everythihng seems to be ok, the data goes into the proper tables, etc. but some of the pages still time out. This app was running fine for the past year and half and the time outs just started happening about 2 months ago. At about the same time, the server crashed and was restored two days later. But this could just be a coincidence.
What could be causing the pages to time out ? Where else can we look to try and identify/isolate the problem ? Again, some people use it and it seems fine. But others using it wait awhile after submitting and then the page eventually times out. We are baffled and do not know what else can be done. None of the other apps seem to time out except for this one.
Any ideas or solutions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Look at the webserver logs to see if there was any surge in activity that may have contributed.

  • On adding a URL in URLInclude item, the page times out

    Hi,
I'm trying to display the contents of a URL in the base OA Framework page by specifying the URL in URLInclude item, but the page times out once this item is added.
I also tried using a java code to read the contents of a URL and display the contents in the base page, but there again the page times out.
Has anyone faced this issue with use of URLInclude. Should there be any property set within applications to bypass proxy or something similar in order to read the contents of an external URL. Please throw some light on the possible reasons as to why specifying the URL will cause the page to time out. The URL that I'm specifying has only 2 sentences in there, so it is not a big page that we are trying to read here.
    Appreciate any help.
    Thanks.

  • Page time outs

I am able to make a page time out when a submit is done after a session variable definition has timed out.
Now I am being asked to make all pages (they are in frames) time out after a certain time.
Is there an automatic or standard way of doing this?

I don't know enough about the technical details of Firefox to comment.
I just found this issue to be very odd. There were a few threads that discussed dns issues and the possibility of a person's isp having switched servers, causing some dns to fail and causing the timeouts. I released and renewed my real isp ip address and that did not matter and since IE was working, I really didn't expect it to. What I have seen from experience is that when you're trying to access some web site and dns isn't working, you see the site name in the lower left and it doesn't
resolve to an ip; the name just sits there until you get an error. That is exactly what was happening to me. I noted that familytreedna.com just sat there in the lower left until the timeout occured. I then put in the whole address (www.familytreedna.com without the http://) and it worked fine. Then the prepend started working again if I only put familytreedna.com as I always had. Your problem may not be the same, but it could be related, as you say in a sort of preparation phase. I wonder if you were to type in one of your problem addresses that normally comes from a book mark and just go to it manually. Does that work? I wondered if like my issue, it might sort of refresh it in some way. In any case, I wonder if during the waiting period...do you see the web site name in the lower left - unresolved?

  • ADF page times out for long running backend procedure

    Dear gurus,
I have an ADF 10g web page that invokes a long running backend PL/SQL procedure.
After some time, and while the web page awaits for the completion of the PL/SQL procedure, I get an *'Oops! This page appears broken'* from my browser (either IE or Firefox).
Does anybody know what setting to use to make my application endure long running backend procedures without timing out ?

What is the Application Server you are deploying to? In WebLogic for example, there are options to configure the server stuck thread timeout for instance.

Also, consider trying to figure out the exact exception or error message. For instance, if your are using a software load balancer solution it may be that this layer times out.

  • I'm having trouble updating my pages - time out

Ok so I have uploaded my website before in the past, so my website is out there (http://www.lochalarchade.com), I added a few widgets and some adsense ads in several parts of the page, it couldn't upload, went on something about "please make sure you're online and try again", by that time I was using the "on-disc" version and didn't update.
I then updated my iWeb '08 to 2.0.4 and I'm still facing the same problem, what happens is when I publish, I get the uploading indicator and it goes pretty quick and stops at the last few pixels for a few hours then tells me it timed out.
So my question is this, is there any way to publish my site page by page separately? If not, what can I do to solve this problem, I know it has nothing to do with my internet connection, I have uploaded large files through iWeb before and it didn't give me any timeouts, my site is a podcasting site so large files are part of the site's norm. so what am I suppose to do?

    Hello Asatiir,
Asatiir : publish to folder works
Just to see if this works : after 'publish to a folder' can you try to upload 1 page (and it's associated files/folder) at a time to MobileMe via iDisk in the finder (or any other upload application)?
Is that helpful to find out what page is giving problems ?
An other way to find out a problematic page is by looking at the progress indicator when you do a 'Publish to MobileMe' , with a little bit of luck you can see the name of the page before you get the error message.
A 3rd way to find out a problematic page is by looking at what did get publish to MobileMe in your iDisk. This method is not as accurate as the 2 previous as not only the problematic file will be missing but also all pages that (should have) followed.
As it's not the widgets and Old Toads tip did not work in your case, can you have a look at the filenames of your pages and the links you've entered in those pages ?
Several other users getting this error were able to spot an invalid character or a problematic ligature in the filename or a link.
    Does that help ?
    Kind regards,
    Leo

  • How to Config Special Error Page for TIME OUT ONLY

We can config our own error page for webdynpro applications by using
transaction code SICF. thus the customizing error page will show when
program meet some errors. these errors type include ABAP runtime
    dump/page time out etc.
Here is my question, is there any configuration or enhancement can
effect on ONLY ONE error type.which means the customizing error page
shows only time out error occurred.for other errors show the standard
    error page.
Thanks a lot for your help.

I need to setup a situation, that is display a custom error page which say "under maintenance" if no back-end WebLogic Server instance reached. In the Apache HTTP Server v2.2 you can use the ErrorDocument directive: http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.0/mod/core.html#errordocument
    For example in httpd.conf,
    ErrorDocument 503 /Test.html
Test.html is placed in the DocumentRoot (http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.0/mod/core.html#documentroot)

  • My firefox will allow me to open a page then it gets stuck on the second page and times out--how do I fix this. I have checked the sites on Explorer -it works

It started with the second page not being able to be displayed
example it would go to yahoo and I would sign in but the next page would just spin and time out
Now it won't even go to the first page.
Firefox will not let me go into the options to change cache.
I am trying explorer and it works.
    Help

This is a page within the Yahoo site? When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
    (1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"
If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.
    (2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site:
    * right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
    * Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
In that dialog, you can individually remove your yahoo.com cookies.
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

  • Safari hangs and times out on pages with CGI scripts

I don't know if this is a Safari problem or a system wide problem. I running OS 10.4.9 with Safari 2.0.4. I did a search of the forum but came back with no results.

  • Maximum number of pages in Chapter? iBA crash and time out issue.

    Hello,
I'm trying to put together a book with roughly 17,000 pages where each page is a single full page image displayed inline and is between 2 and 3 kb.. Preferably these would all be in a single chapter, but I run in to issues with this at around 2,000 pages. iBA will crash and when I try to reopen the file it will either time out or take several minutes.
Dividing my book in to chapters with around 250 pages each keeps iBA from crashing, but unfortunately the chapter structure doesn't make sense for the book.
To try to help iBA to run smoothly I've right clicked on the application icon, selected "get info" and then checked the box next to "run at low resolution". I've also disabled the display of thumbnail previews of pages in the app.
Is there anything else I can do to make iBA run faster? (Can I allocate more memory to it somehow?)
Is there a way to combine chapters?
Also, if anyone has ideas of ways to structure my pages that might use less memory than displaying my images inline, I'd be open to hearing that too.
Any help or suggestions are very much appreciated.
    Thanks

A finished, exported iBooks file to be uploaded to the store...is limited to 2 gigabyte file size..whatever your content.
If your computer is running slow, you need to close all applications not needed.
Also when creating a large book file, its advisable to create chapters individually...giving a more manageable work file.
Create a master template  and open..save the book as a master copy and save it. Open a copy of..the master copy snd name it ..say Chapter one...and repeat as needed. when done, copy the chapters from 2 onwards into the chapter one book, if needed, drag and drop the chapters up or down the tree to get the right order.

  • Button on page opens new window, session times out in old window

    Hi,
I've created a custom page and added a button through personalizations in Oracle that opens the new custom page in a new window. When this happens, though, the original window throws the following error when a user attempts to use any functionality in that page:
    Error: Cannot Display Page
You cannot complete this task because you accessed this page using the browser's navigation buttons (the browser Back button, for example).
More specifically, the new button has been added to a LOV page in Oracle. Navigation would be: Create timecards page, click on Task LOV button (this opens new window for Task LOV), new button is on this Task LOV page. The new button then opens the custom page, and when the user returns to the Task LOV page to select a task they receive the error.
How do I prevent this error when the new custom page opens from the button?
Thanks in advance for your help,
    Suzanne

I have an update to this issue:
I found that adding the value &retainAM=Y to the button URL for my custom page resolves the issue of the time-out in the Task LOV page. However, when I make the task selection in the LOV page and return to the main create timecard page, I find that the session has timed out on that page.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Suzanne

  • Answers When I click on all pages it is very slow and sometimes times out

we have a report that returns 127,000 rows quickly and displays 25 at a time. i can click on next page and it is quick to display the next page but if I click on all pages it takes forever or times out. Any Suggestions? Thanks, Rodney

These reports are coming from our old system and they want to recreate them.if I had a penny for every time I'd heard that , I'd probably have, well, at least five pence now ;-)
but seriously, this is the classic problem of using a tool for what it's not.
google around a few of the BI blogs, I've read several articles recently along the lines of "top 5 reasons BI systems fail; #1: recreating reports from an old system with a new tool like-for-like". it's a common problem, and a serious one if you want to deliver a top-notch system that's actually going to be useful and value for money.
do you have any clout to work with the users to understand what they need out of the system and demonstrate how it could be better for them to do it a different way?
failing that, dump IE and go FireFox or Chrome. We have a similar browser issue here and in testing I've done IE blows (esp IE7; IE6 and IE8 not so bad) when reports get big.
Also if they're using nav links in each cell, cut those out, that might help the render time.

  • Can the time out for loading a page be extended for busy sites?

    (Error:)

    * The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.
Question: Is there a way to extend the time out for sites which are known to be busy?

This issue appears under two different Mozzila "Questions". Both appear to have the same OUTDATED, INEFFECTIVE ANSWERS. A lot of us are on WIN7 now and still have erratic network speeds due to cable multiplexing -- but have been trained to leave the registry alone. Has not anyone solved this problem -- other than going notoriously unreliable FIOS ??

  • BI Administration cockpit page not found time out

    Hi Experts,
We are on BI 7  SP6 and have an issue with the BI Admin cockpit in our QA system.
When we activated the BI Technical content in development, loaded data, the BI admin cockpit ran just fine.
When we transport the technical content objects to QA, and load data, all the queries work
The BI Admin cockpit however, doesnt. The portal page just times out when we click on any query in the cockpit.
How can we go about finding what we are missing?
    All thoughts appreciated.

    Hi
There could be some portal relevant transports for admin cockpit. Please check whether they went fine.
    Try to restart portal once.
Please check with your portal expert on the sizing of the portal.
Check whether you are able to execute other bex queries and WAD in the portal.
    Thanks,
    Krishnan
