Palm OS conversion to WIndows OS

I am trying to convert from a Palm Treo 755p (Palm OS) to a Palm Treo with Windows OS. In the smartphone decision process, I checked out how to convert to iphones and blackberries but didn't even think to worry about conversion from Palm to Palm smartphone (it's been automatic with each of the new phones I've gotten through palm from the beginning). So, I've gathered from my reading that I need some help in the synching from the palm os phone to my windows outlook 2007, and then from that to my treo pro. I'm assuming that once I've loaded my contacts, calendar, and memos to outlook that my treo pro will just synch with that, but am not sure. I saw a post about Chapura's Pocket Copy, must I use that? It seems that it should be easier than that. Please help with both steps.

Thank you Boltron73. So that's the second half of the work. How do I synch my Treo 755p to Outlook 2007? I tried export but couldn't figure that out. Is there another way I'd not thought of? Thanks for your time!
If you have a Windows PC, go here:
Start Button/All programs/Palm/PIM Conduit Sync/Sync with Outlook.   This is the magic "switch" that will redirect the data to Outlook.

  • How do I re-enable the Markzware Q2ID conversion options window?

I'm converting documents from Quark to InDesign using Q2ID. I want the option of converting plain text across from Quark. In InDesign, the only menu options I have for Markzware are Q2ID>Convert Quark document and Q2ID>Help. I've gone to the Markzware online help, and found that Q2ID has a popup Conversion Options window that allows you to convert files without styles. Unfortunately, this window has been disabled. Can anyone help me re-enable this popup window. Markzware help instructions for re-enabling this window follow. Unfortunately, I don't have an Options selection in my Markzware/ID2Q Menu. Can anyone help?
Once you have set the don’t show option, in order to disable  it:
    1. Go to the Markzware/ID2Q Menu
    2. Select Options
    3. This will  bring up the Conversion Options window
    4. Uncheck the don’t  show checkbox
    5. Click OK
Now, whenever you select an InDesign  file to convert, the Conversion Options window will appear.
    Read more: http://markzware.com/support/manuals/id2q-manual/id2q-conversion-options-window/don_t-show -option/#ixzz2tmY9PfJ1

Unfortunately, this doesn't work. I think there must be hidden commands in the converted file coming from Quark or some other application that prevent the style assignment from working. Some of these documents appear to have been converted multiple times. Worst case, from FrameMaker to Word to Quark, then to InDesign. The imported styles seem to be hopelessly garbled. Even deleting the style, creating a new one and assigning it to the paragraph doesn't work. My conclusion is I must re-type the documents from scratch because the behaviour of converted files is unpredictable. Sometimes a selection will take on the attributes of the assigned style, sometimes it won't.
    Any thoughts?

  • Palm Quick Install in Windows 7

OK I have posted that you can use the Palm desktop 4 versions on windows 7 and they work. They do but the only way to load a file was to right click on it and chose send to / Palm Powered (TM) Handheld. I decided to see if I could make everything work normally. I managed to accomplish it. I did not need to hack the registry either. The first problem was getting the Palm Quick Install icon to show up on the desktop and then open up the program. When I loaded the TX software on two other computers it did not load with the Palm Desktop and DTG icons.
1: I went to start/all programs/palm folder/ and right clicked on the Palm Quick Install and sent it to the desktop. It went there but would not open on one of the computers. I tried a couple of times. I then right clicked on the icon and choose Restore Previous Versions. I chose the compatibility tab and selected the help me choose the settings. I did this several times and also rebooted the computer and unchecked the open with administrator in properties. I was finally rewarded with the Palm Quick install opening up when I clicked on it.
    2. Clicking on a palm file or dragging it into the Palm Quick install application had no effect. A warning came up stating (There was a problem sending the command to the program.) I plugged this into Google and came up with several sites. There is in Vista and 7 a file association of some sort missing. I was reading on how to hack into the registry and really did not want to waste any more time on it. I was about to give up when I decided to attempt a Microsoft solution. They have all kinds of fixit registry programs for all kinds of tasks. I typed in Microsoft file type fixit in Google. They have a little program that scans your system and then gives you several choices to select. I selected them all when the choice came up. When it finished I exited out of the web page and clicked on a palm file. It worked. I deleted the file and attempted to drag it into the Palm Quick Install this also worked. File and Folder fixit

    Great!  Glad to help.
AFAIK, there is no such version - 6.2.2 is the latest Access made before ceasing support for the program.
MicroSoft has had a typo on their support site for a long time now.  Is this the version number you are referring to?

  • View Log Function on Palm TX opens in Windows Media Player, instead of a new window.

    hi,
when i clicked on "view log" after a hot sync operation a few hours ago, it brought up windows media player which, of course, could not display it. this is the first occurrence. i am using a palm tx with desktop version 4.2 and a hot sync version of 6.0.1. Strangely, view log opened up on my handheld as it has done many times. i closed the hot sync program, then opened it, and tried a hot sync--no go, media played still opened.
i'm running the palm program on an IBM Thinkpad, with windows xp pro, SP2.
thanks, in advance, for your advice.

Your computer has a File Association problem.
The HotSync log file on a PC has an extension of .htm.  Somehow, your computer has associated Windows Media Player with that type of file.
Open My Computer, then pick the Tools tab.  Choose  Folder Options, then the File Types tab.
Scroll down to the HTM file extension, and see what program is associated with it.  I'm betting it says Windows Media Player.  Tap the "Change" button, and pick the web browser program you use (mine is set to FireFox).  Click the checkmark in "Always use this program" then click OK.
    Now it should open correctly.

  • Palm m500 Hotsync with Windows 7 Home Basic - 32 bit

I have a couple of old, but ever so useful, Palm m500/m505  PDAs,  which I could hot-sync with my old PC running on Windows XP.  Now I have up-graded to PC with Windows 7 Home Version - 32 bit and am at my wit's end trying to hot sync my PDA data on to my PC Palm Desktop.
I tried hot-syncing by installing Palm Desktop 4.1.4. and Palm 6.2.  Have both on my PC.  It did do a hot-sync but only to back-up data.  I need to view the data on my PC/Monitor.
As I am of the older generation, (a senior citizen), could an expert give me step-by-step  simple instructions on how to resolve my problem.  My Palm m500 PDA has too many contacts to manually transfer.
Also can I convert PDA contacts to Outlook Address Book and then hot-sync with Palm m500 series PDA ?

  • Sync'ing a Palm Zire 72 with Windows 7 (Home Premium 64)

Ok I am probably a dinasour but have relied on my Zire 72 for years for all the contacts and calendar items I don't want to keep on my phone but now cannot get it to sync with Windows 7.  I never used Vista, migrated straight from XP to Windows 7 but have read all the threads on Vista and hot sync'ing.  I know I apprently can't use the direct USB cables as there are no 64 bit drivers from palm for this so I purchased the recommended USB-1510 IRDa adaptor.  Even though Cables Direct does not seem to have Windows 7 drivers, Windows 7 appeared to recognize and accept the Vista 64 drivers and the adaptor seems to be recognized.  I am using Hotsync 4.1.0 and Palm Desktop 4.1.4.  Have tried everything, soft resets of the Palm, reboots of both the computer and palm, reinstallation of the software, etc and cannot get these to sync.  I either get the message that the connection cannot be established or once or twice that the port was being used by another process.
Does anyone have any suggestions before I competely give up.  Many thanks!
    Post relates to: Zire 72

I have hotSync Manager 6.0.1 and while the Zire 72 will NOT sync over the USB cable it will sync over a Bluetooth connection. You need to have a Bluetooth interface either built into the computer or a Bluetooth USB plug in device. Then you have to set up the channel by making both devices visible to other devices once they recognize each other you have to follow the dircetions in Windows 7 for making it a trusted device. After they are trusted devices they will sync over Bluetooth which is slower that using a straigth USB cable but it works.
This is also the way you can sync a Palm LifeDrive and HP Ipaq with SW on Windows 7. Yes I have all three and this was the easiest way so  I could make them sync up suing the same interface. The Lifedrive and HP Ipaq can also sync over WIFI but this was easier for me since all the devices use the same interface, i.e. no remembering special setups.
I am running WIn 7 Home Premium and I am using Palm Desktop Application 4.1.4 for all Palm syncs. I have 2 Zire 72 Palms and 1 Life drive. They all come up in that Palm Desktop Application allwoing me to copy things from one to the other.

  • Palm Zire M150 and Windows 7 64-bit

This worked fine with Windows 7 32-bit, but not on Win 7 64-bit.
    Then I found this thread:
     http://forums.hpwebos.com/t5/Windows-HotSync/64-Bit-Palm-Desktop-Drivers-are-HERE/m-p/337516/message...
I followed the instructions exactly, including the bit in message 6 about allowing Device Manager to show hidden devices.
I was then able to do the hot sync with my device using the USB cable (the computer has BlueTooth but not IR; the Palm has IR but not Bluetooth; both have the USB connection), without any data in the Palm desktop directory - just doing the hotsync from the device.  It appeared to work okay, but unfortunately, it took out half my address book (including my entire family) and a lot of other data.
Fortunately, I had saved the data directory elsewhere.  So I merged it with the newly-created data directory.  The device gave a message to click on a button to reset the device, which I did, and - voila! - all my data was there, both on the desktop and on the device.   I made a small change on the device and hotsync'd it again, and it worked fine.
I'm new here and this is my first post; so if I goofed anything up, somebody please clue me in.

  • Need Palm Bluetooth Drivers For Windows 7 64 Bit

    Hi,
I am a long time Palm Pilot user and I have been there through all the trials and tribulations.  I have just bought a new computer running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit edition and I am trying to find the drivers for Bluetooth sync.
I am using a Palm Tungsten E2 and the Palm OS 6.2 and with the computer I am currently using (Windows 7 Home Premuim 64-Bit)  I sync via Bluetooth and never had any problems and want to keep it that way.
WyreNut and several members did a lot of work when Windows 7 first came out and helped a lot fo people with synch issues.  I have searched the Forums and cannot find a link to where I can download the Bluetooth drivers so I can synch my Palm Pilot via Bluetooth to my new computer.
If someone could kindly point me to where I can get the Bluetooth drivers I will be grateful.  Thanks so much.

Hi, please clarify as it sounds like both your old and new computers are the same OS.
As you know, the E2 has Bluetooth built-in.  There are no Bluetooth drivers to download.

  • Warning: Palm OS Treos and Windows Small Business Server 2008

If you use a Treo smartphone with the Palm operating system, beware:  it does not work with Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2008.
Palm acknowledges this failure and has no intention of fixing it.
There are at least two problems:
    (1) You must turn off all email security on the Exchange mail server to sync with Treos.
    (2) AutoSync locks up the Palm each time it occurs, and must be turned off.
Here's the transcript of my chat w/tech support. After this, I spent a few hours on the phone and got the same answers.
    [12:35 AM] Gary says: Hello.
[12:35 AM] Handoff connection active (1/5140).
[12:35 AM] x says: Hi. Please see the question sent earlier.
[12:36 AM] Gary says: Could you please be more specific about the issue?
[12:37 AM] x says: Our Palms will not talk to Exchange Server 2007 unless all its security
features are turned off. This is a problem with Palm/VersaMail. When will it be corrected?
[12:38 AM] Gary says: Yes, that is true. I am sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused.
[12:38 AM] Gary says: I am very sorry to inform you that currently we do not have any information on this.
[12:39 AM] x says: Apology accepted and appreciated. But when will this be fixed?
[12:40 AM] Gary says: Unfortunately we do not have any sort of update on this. I suggest you to post the
    feedback in the Palm Website.
[12:41 AM] x says: Okay, next question:  Every AutoSync locks up the Palm, so we have to turn
AutoSync off. Do you intend to rectify this problem?
[12:42 AM] Gary says: I understand your concern. Is it happening with all the Palm devices?
    [12:42 AM] x says: Yes.
[12:43 AM] Gary says: Do you receive any error message before locking up the Treo?
    [12:43 AM] x says: No.
[12:46 AM] Gary says: Okay, as this happening with all the devices to me it looks like the issue should be
diagnosed closely to find the root cause. Was this happening with the Exchange Sever 2003?
    [12:46 AM] x says: No
[12:46 AM] Gary says: So, the AutoSync feature is Locking the device from the day you upgraded to the
    Exchange Sever 2007.
[12:46 AM] Gary says: Am I correct?
    [12:47 AM] x says: yes.
[12:48 AM] Gary says: Okay, as this is the issue related to the sync with the Exchange Server 2007 and the
AutoSync to find out the root cause I will escalate this issue to our escalation channel which is our Voice
    Support Team.
    [12:48 AM] Gary says:
I will provide you all the information and guide you in the correct direction to address this issue.
    [12:48 AM] Gary says:
I suggest you to get in touch with the Voice Support and I am sure they will fix the issue.
    [12:49 AM] Gary says:
I will provide you a Service Request, when contacting the Voice Support, provide this Service Request Id and you will get a free Technical Support.
[12:51 AM] Gary says: Please provide me your Last name, First name, complete address, phone number,Email address, date and place of purchase of device and serial number of the device to create a Service Request Number.
[12:51 AM] x says: Of course I provided all this when I logged in, but here it is again:....
[12:54 AM] Gary says: Thank you for providing all the information.I need 5 minutes to register the device and create a Service Request.
[12:55 AM] x says: Thanks for your help, and confirmation of the incomprehensible failure to support Exchange Server 2007.  We're this close to dumping these things if this is the kind of tech support Palm intends to provide.
[1:00 AM] Gary says: Thanks for staying on hold: I am sorry for the delay. I can understand the inconvenience you are facing.
[1:01 AM] Gary says: Based on the information you provided, I created a service request for you in our database.  The Service Request number is : 1-51558238041
[1:01 AM] x says: Will I get an email?
[1:01 AM] Gary says: Using this service request number, you need to contact our Voice Support department.  Voice Support Department number is 877-426-3777. Voice support will be available from  5:00AM to 9:00PM (PST) on weekdays and from 8am - 5pm PST on weekends. Please note down the above given Service Request Number and Voice Support Number or else you will lose this information once the chat session is closed.

  • PSE10 Catalog Conversion from Windows XP to Windows 7-64

    Hi,
I have a catalog conversion issue when moving from Windows XP to Windows 7-64 while at the same time upgrading from PSE8 to PSE10.
All my photos on the Windows XP machine were in the following folder:
    C:\Documents and Settings\My Name\My Documents\My Pictures
Files were transfered across the network using Windows Easy Transfer to the new computer. I then installed PSE8 and was able to see my photo folders in the Organizer Folder View at the path listed above.
After installing PSE10 the location of my photo files remain in the same folder but are not accessible through Folder View in the Organizer.  I can see all the photos in Date View.
In other words, the PSE10 folder view doesn't show the old "Documents and Settings" path under Computer\C: even if I set the View to show Hidden files.  It does, however, show the entire folder path under "C:\Users\My Name\Pictures" but none of the folders are marked as being included in the Organizer.
There seems to be a Windows alias between "C:\Documents and Settings\My Name\My Documents\My Pictures"   and   "C:\Users\My Name\Pictures"   but the Catalog is not picking it up.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Paul

    Hi,
You just hit on something there.  After opening the timeline I clicked on one of the bars and Voila! a group of folders appeared in the folder view containing all of my photo folders.  Seems there was a "Documents and Settings" folder INSIDE the  Pictures folder at the same level as all the individual photo folders.
Strange thing...drilling down into the "my pictures" folders ALL folders are marked as having photos in the organizer even though many are not part of the database.
    So, here's the path:
    C:\Users\Paul Valentine\Pictures\Documents and Settings\Paul Valentine\My Documents\My Pictures\
To add insult to injury, every time you click on the "+" sign to expand a folder, PSE10 decides you want to go all the way back to the top of the folder list so you then have to navigate back to the folder you just expanded.  That's a real pain.
So, is there any good way to get things moved "back" to the proper location?
BTW, Thanks for all the great help...and Ken I might just have to try the repair technique if I continue to hit the brick wall...

Synching works with either Bluetooth OR on my older PC's I can keep using the cable synch and original software version (4.1.4) that I've always been using. Not sure it this reassures you or not . . .

I've moved your post to the Windows HotSync section of the Forum.   Here, you'll find your question has been asked literally hundreds of times...
At the top of this section are several posts that deal with using Palm Desktop on Windows 7, both 32bit and 64bit versions.
If you have a 64bit version, pay attention to the "64bit Palm Desktop drivers are here..." post.  The driver you're looking for is discussed in that thread.
