Panel tab page template application

Dear All,
I would like to ask for comments regarding what I have done since I can't find a good resource that
can point me to the right direction.
My Use Case:
I have a jsff page with a panel tab as the outermost component. Inside it are a variable number of showdetailitems.
My requirement is for me to apply a certain template to all detail item. What I did was embed the page template inside
each iterator.
<af:panelTabbed>
      <af:iterator>
          <af:showDetailItem>
               <af:pageTemplate viewId="/MyTemplate.jspx" value="#{bindings}">
                    <!-- Components go here -->
               </af:pageTemplate>
          </af:showDetailItem>
      </af:iterator>
</af:panelTabbed>To my surprise, it did not cause an exception and my components follow the changes that I am doing in the template
I read from a previous post from Frank that *'not because its not throwing an exception then its okay'.*
I have used templates to style my pages but they are at the top of my page. In this case, my use case is different.
Comments are very much welcome.
Thanks.

Hi,
dynamic declarative components would do the same trick. Unfortunately those are less well documented. In summary, a dynamic declarative component is a JSFF page that you define Facets for and FecetRefs in (this is where users then add the content (or in your case the showDetail content would be generated in). Below is a simple sample:
JSFF page
=======
<?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?>
<jsp:root xmlns:jsp="http://java.sun.com/JSP/Page" version="2.1"
          xmlns:af="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adf/faces/rich"
          xmlns:f="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core">
<af:componentDef var="attrs">
  <af:xmlContent>
   <component xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adf/faces/rich/component">
    <facet>
     <description>
      What goes in right
     </description>
     <facet-name>
      LeftArea
     </facet-name>
    </facet>
    <facet>
     <description>
      What goes in left
     </description>
     <facet-name>
      RightArea
     </facet-name>
    </facet>
    <attribute>
     <attribute-name>
      headerTitle
     </attribute-name>
     <attribute-class>
      java.lang.String
     </attribute-class>
    </attribute>
   </component>
  </af:xmlContent>
  <af:panelStretchLayout id="psl1">
   <f:facet name="center">
    <af:panelBox id="dc_pb1" text="#{attrs.headerTitle}"
                 styleClass="AFStretchWidth">
     <f:facet name="toolbar"/>
     <af:panelSplitter id="dc_ps1" splitterPosition="293">
      <f:facet name="first">
       <af:facetRef facetName="LeftArea"/>
      </f:facet>
      <f:facet name="second">
       <af:facetRef facetName="RightArea"/>
      </f:facet>
     </af:panelSplitter>
    </af:panelBox>
    <!-- id="af_one_column_stretched"   -->
   </f:facet>
  </af:panelStretchLayout>
</af:componentDef>
</jsp:root>The "<af:xmlContent>" area defines the metaData (Facets). After the "</af:xmlContent>" tag you add the visual content. Note the use of FaceRef in the
panelSplitter for users to later add their stuff
The JSFF file that represents the dynamic declarative component must reside in the same project as the page consuming it
<?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?>

          </af:dialog>
        </af:popup>
      </af:form>
    </af:document>
  </f:view>
</jsp:root>You see the declarative component being added twice to the page ( <af:declarativeComponent viewId="BeautifulBoxDef.jsff" headerTitle="One">). The IDE will flag an error saying that the DashBoard component expects a PanelBox as a child. This however is not true.
Note that dynamic declarative components participate in teh geometry management which means they stretch if their parent container stretches its children

I'll take a not to write something up about this for ADF Code Corner or OTN Harvest as the above really is the recommended way to do this in 11.1.1.x

  • Cannot use the same page template in panel tabbed

    Hi,
    I have a panel tabbed with region in each tab. And all the jsff uses the same pageTemplate, but the jsff displays only a blank with no error . So I apply refresh condition on the Region thinking it might be the cause, initially the two region loaded successfully but when I switch back to the first tab it throws Exception

    With my investigation it shows that same pageTemplate cannot be used in panel tabbed. What seems to be the solution here? Or Am I lacking something on reusing pageTemplate across panel tabbed?
    Thanks in advance.

  • JSF Page Fragment based on Oracle Dynamic Tabs Shell Template

    Hi
    JDeveloper 11.1.1.6
    Can we create a JSF Page Fragment (jsff) based on an Oracle Dynamic Tabs Shell Template ?
    I tried to create this jsff page and added in a bounded taskflow.
    In the create jsff wizard, it will allow us to select the Oracle Dynamic Tabs Shell Template, but when trying to use this taskflow in the another page (jspx), it is giving the following exception.
    javax.faces.FacesException: javax.el.PropertyNotFoundException: Target Unreachable, 'tabContext' returned null
    at com.sun.faces.application.ApplicationImpl.createComponent(ApplicationImpl.java:261)
    at javax.faces.webapp.UIComponentELTag.createComponent(UIComponentELTag.java:222)
    Basically the reason why I am trying to do like this is that I have to simply drop the taskflow in a page as a region.
    The ViewController project code will only be created as an ADF Library Jar File and be used in other projects
    (it will not be deployed as a web application (war))
    More about the requirement:
    I have a BPM Application in which I have 2 ADF ViewController projects, one for only BPM Human Task related UI and another for only ADF functionality.
    I am writing a custom BPM Workspace kind of ADF Application and want the UI to be based on the Oracle Dynamic Tab Shell Template.
    ADF ViewController project is deployed only as a ADF Library Jar file.
    Another advantage I can have is I can test my ADF code within JDeveloper.
    (If I create a jspx page based Oracle Dynamic Tab Shell Template in the BPM Human Task Related UI project, I will not be able to run it in JDeveloper and test it.
    Otherwise I have to deploy to the SOA environment each time I make a change)
    Thanks for any help.

    Hi,
    the dynamic tab shell template can only be used with top level (JSPX) pages (in 12c also with Facelet pages). There is no configuration for templates that would make the JDeveloper IDE to not show the template of the selected page is a fragment.

    How can refere to application item from page template (i.e. one level tab).
    set or get value from application item.

    Alaa,
    If the item name is X put &X. in the template. Don't forget to use upper case and provide the trailing period.
    set or get value from application item.
    That is not a complete sentence, please clarify.

  • Web Application Designer - Tab pages

    Hi all,
    we using BI 7.0 Support Package 14 SAP Gui 6.40.
    Any one have step by step doc regarding WAD ( Web Item: Tab pages with Hyperlinks to another web template) with screen shots?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Wolfgang

    With the Web item parameters of the tab container -> go to Internal Display -> Tab panel
    You will see * Tab Panel -> click one the . next to it, do this 3 times, and name you're tab. (now you have made 3 tabs)
    Now you won't see them appear in the lay-out (they never will appear there)
    Now just make 3 containers (one for each tab) and in these containers, put all the needed components and stuff, define them (properties and stuff)
    If you have done that, click on the tab container and go to the Web item parameters of the tab container -> go to Internal Display -> Tab panel
    -> click one the . of your first tab
    You'll get a new window "Determine Parameters for the Web Item"
    -> Subordinate Web Item -> click on the arrow and choose the container that contains the components for the first tab> Do this for all you tabs
    => this is binding the containers to the tabs
    You're now ready to execute and you'll see there that there are tabs and the tabs contain te components of the container taht you linked o you're tab.
    I hope this is helpfull.
    Greetings

  • Numbers (or Pages) Template Cannot Be Opened From Outside the Application

    Ever since the upgrade to Mavericks, I cannot open a Numbers (or Pages) template without being asked.....
    Do you want to add this custom template to the Template Chooser?  Then my only options are Cancel or Add to Template Chooser.
    If I cancel, it won't open anything.
    But this template is already in my Template Chooser.
    So the only way to open a template in Numbers (or Pages) is to open the application first, and then click "New", and choose the template.
    I can't figure out a way to open the template from outside the application, which is very very handy, rather than having to open the application every time that I want to access a template.
    How can I open a template simply by clicking on it?

    Yes, the problem is that opening the template from outside of the application will not open the application, showing the document.  I only get this....
    Do you want to add this custom template to the Template Chooser?  Then my only options are Cancel or Add to Template Chooser.
    If I cancel, it won't open anything.
    But this template is already in my Template Chooser.
    Put your Pages or Numbers document on your desktop and open it by double-clicking it, and you'll understand.  You can't do it, even if the template is in your template chooser.
    The only way to do this now is to open the application, select "New", and the select the template.  So you cannot open a template from outside the application....only from within.

    Is this a bug in adf, or am I missing something?
    Can someone please help?

    Hi Vinod,
    Thanks for responding.
    I want a page fragment with tabbedPanel to be loaded in my dynamic region. As I am facing this issue, I tried very simple example of creating a page fragment with a tabbedPanel of 3 tabs.
    1. added this page fragment in an bounded task flow.
    2. In the unbounded task flow(adfc-config.xml) added a view with the some jspx page and then added the bounded task flow created above as a static region in this jspx page.
    3. When I run this view, I can see the page loaded with all the tabs in the page frament.
    4. By default the first tab is selected, but when I tried to click on the other tabs, there is no response. It still stays in the first tab only.
    Thanks,

    Is there a parameter (application, export, template, instance level) that we can set to prevent this ?

    Hi Patrick,
    The version info is: wwv_flow_api.set_version(p_version_yyyy_mm_dd=>'2009.01.12');
    This should be wwv_flow_api.set_version(p_version_yyyy_mm_dd=>'2012.01.01');
    ... but this error is due to a manual modification of the export file.
    We parameterise some values, so that the we can use the old-school DEFINE variables in our deploy process via SQL/plus.
    One of the developers made a copy-paste error when doing that ...
    So there is no bug !
    Thanks for the tip !!
    Kind regards,
    Karel

  • The Pages/Templates tab is not showing up under Site Manager

    I am working on a site, and i am unable to see the pages/templates tab under the Site Manager tab in the AdminConsole. Is there a setting I can change to fix this or is there somethign else I need to upload?
    thank you

    Check the permissions in the admin role to be sure that it has that set.
