PAR DC and SC JDI

Hi,
What is the best practice  for maitaining EP projects in JDI.
I have a bunch of PAR files.
1. should i create a DC for each PAR?
2. Should i create a one SC and assign all my DC's to that SC?
3. what are the files of PAR DC that are normally checked in into DTR. should i check in all the files except .project and .classpath.
4. should we write some build scirpt to make the central build happen? if so could you please let me know how can i do that
5. Is there a facility to release each DC in CMS or should I only release only a SC which contains all those DC's
sorry if questions are basic, but just want to clarify.
Hope you  can help me in thsi regard.
Thank you

Hello Marion Schlotte
we are migrating to NW04 with NWDI from EP 5
we have about 20 different PAR projects (each contain 1-3 iviews)
most PAR Projects are not dependend on each other.
according to this post, if the PAR projects are not dependend on each other, and if i want to be able to release each on of them to production seperately, i need to create a SC for each PAR I have
this means at least 20 SCs in the system, and that most SCs will contain a single DC
I have a feeling that creating so many SCs, and having each SC contain only a single DC is not the best design
however, if i dont do it this way, then i can not release each application (PAR) to production seperately
I will be happy to get your opinion
Thank you
Zach Engel

  • NWDS 7.0 Error during Quick PAR Upload and while trying Exporting PAR-File

    Hello,
I am trying to use the functions "Export as PAR-File" and "Quick PAR Upload" in NWDS 7.0.
Unfortunately I got an error every time when I am trying to use this functions. I am using the package explorer in the Java perspectiv in NWDS for starting this functions. The error tells me the following:
"Unable to connect to the Portal"
"Operation failed: Please make sure the server "XY" is running or check the log (sap-plugin.log) for more detail"
    Thats all.
When I am looking in the log-file I can read the following messages:
    "ACCESS.ERROR: Authorization check for caller assignment to J2EE resource [keystore-view.TicketKeystore: view-actions: GET_VIEW:ALL]"
    "ACCESS.ERROR: Authorization check for caller assignment to J2EE resource [keystore-view.TicketKeystore: view-actions: IS_VIEW_EXISTS:ALL]"
    "ACCESS.ERROR: Authorization check for caller assignment to J2EE resource [keystore-view.TicketKeystore: view-actions: SIZE_OF_VIEW:ALL]"

    LOGIN.ERROR|null|| Login Method=[default] UserID=[user_Admin] IP Address=[192.168.xxx] Reason=[Cannot authenticate the user]
I have tried this with several users and their passwords. All of the users have admin-rights at least in the portal. One of them even in the SDM.
I can sucessfully deploy webdynpros from NWDS into the same Portal with this users.
We are using SAP Logon Tickets and SSO is configured working fine between Portal and backend.
We have imported Key Store File in NWDS unter Window --> Preferences --> Java Development Infrastructure.
And we are not using the NWDI.
Who knows why I cannot even export par-files? Are their any configurations missing?
    Best regards,
    Iris

    It is mentioning about authentication.
check whether you have access to deploy directly or not ? maybe direct deployment into portal disabled .
I think you have to follow the procedure of checkout and activate procedure.
    Can you clarify few things
    1) Are you using NWDI Based Transports in your landscape?
    Login Method=default UserID=user_Admin IP Address=http://192.168.xxx Reason=Cannot authenticate the user
http://192.168.xxx  is it your development portal?
Did you clarify with admin people whether direct deployment disabled?

  • Tracks for WD par files and VC applications

    Hello Gurus,
Could anybody please throw some light on the tracks for Webdynpro par files and visual composer applications?
I need to know if we need separate tracks for Webdynpro par files and Visual composer applications on the NWDI. Can we use one track for the development of Webdynpro and VC applications or do we need separate tracks for these developments? What is the best practice?
Appreciate much for your help in this regard..
    Regards,
    ~~LB

    Hi Leena,
In general SAP recommends to create a seperate tracks for differnet applications. based on your requirement you need to think of whether to go for single or multiple tracks.

    Anil.

I took the ToolArea.par file (the origin) and imported it into the WD to work on it, even though I made no changes when I upload it to the portal I get an error.

    Hi Oren,
In Tool area jar file you will be having jar files that you have to include along with newly created par file and then import the file.
These jar files you can get from the downloaded com.sapportals.portal.navigation.par file. After getting the .bak file make it as a .zip file and extract the same into a folder there under the
lib folder you can find the related jar files.Import these jar files through jar import so that these error can resolved.
you can refer to these following link

Please help to get this information.

    Rich,
    Go to http://service.sap.com/swdc
    Choose:
    1. SAP Support Packages
    2. Entry by Application Group
    3. SAP NetWeaver
    4. SAP NETWEAVER
    5. Select your release (for example SAP NETWEAVER 04)
    6. Entry by Component
    7. Developer Studio
    8. SAP NW Developer Studio 2.0
    9. Win32
    10. Select the version of NWDS you'd like to download: JIDE<SP><>.SAR (for example       JIDE09_1-10002804.SAR, which is SP09 patch 1)
You'll need to download SAPCAR.EXE to extract the SAR file. You can find this by choosing Additional Components in step 3. After extraction you can install the software.

  • Portal PAR developments and IE8 comptability ?

    Hello All,
I have a number of portal JSPDynpage applications/components developed and running on portal as of date.
However, with the introduction of the new browser IE8 usage in our company, will the existing portal components(HTMLB and other portal scripting) stop working.
Can you please assist in understanding what is the impact of upgrading browser version to IE8 w.r.t existing portal par components and do we need to migrate and rewrite these apps in WD Java/ABAP.
    Please assist.
    Appreciate all the help.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Samta.

    Hi,
SAP supports IE8. You only have to make sure that your portal and ABAP system is maintained, e.g. that it is patched. To find out the patch level needed for IE8 support, check the [PAM|service.sap.com/pam]

  • PAR files and jsp pages into NWDS

    Hi,
I need to modify transactions from the MSS 50.x package, i.e. HR transactions. I need to delete some fields on the screens.
The sysadmin was giving me a par file
    com.sap.pct.hcm.attendanceoverviewperiod.par.bak
But when I import the par file into NWDS, the only thing I see is the portalapp.xml and a bunch of attribute files.
No jsp page, no class files..
When I browse into the directoria via sysadmin/support/portal runtime via WEB-INF, I do see all the necessary files. But how do I get the whole bunch of classes, jsp etc into NWDS? Download all single elements and put them manually into a NWDS project? There must be a better way
Any help will be gracefully awarded

I tried it, but when I follow your instruction, NWDS gives me an error in the import wizard "<dir> does not have a .project file".
If I look in the .par file, there is no .project file at all.
I looked in the download of the PCD, there is no .project file either, but at least the java classes and the jsp.
Is it removed intentionally? Probably because it is an SAP business package?

  • Is it possible to refer to paragraph 90 for example in para 110 and for this to automatically change to para 96 if para 90 becomes para96 because of document changes

Is it possible to refer to paragraph 90, for example in para 110 of a long document and for this wording to automatically change to refer to this paragraph as para 96, if para 90 becomes para 96 because of document changes ?

What I would like to know refers to whether there is a way for a reference to a particular paragraph number in a document can be automatically updated if that paragraph number changes becasue of other alterations to the document e.g can a reference to paragraph 90, in para 110 be automatically updated to refer to this paragraph as para 96, if para 90 becomes para 96 because of document changes ?

    Hello,
I'm wondering how the deployment of a par file actually works in depth. Especially how the sharingreferences und privatesharingreferences come into play here.

  • Difference between parant total and parent adj total?

    hi experts.
What is the difference between Parent total and Parent adj total in value dimension? can you explain with a simple example.
    Your comments will be appreciated
    Thanks
    Sarath

    Hi Sarath,
Hope the below can help you.
Parent Totals: when you save data, financial management automatically calculates totals for the parent members of the dimension hierarchy.
ex : if you enter and save data for the hotel and meals members, a total is calculated for their parent total expenses. ; here the data does not aggregate to parent members until consolidation occurs.
Parent Adjustment : If entities roll up to more than one parent, you can create parent adjustment. Parent adjustments enables you to apply an adjustment for a child to a selected parent, rather than to all parents.
Parent adjustments are available only for parent entities for which the AllowAdjFromchildren application setting is selected.
    thank you

  • Sub-par speeds and a flaky connection

I have a Westell 7500-a190 modem without an antenna. My plan is for download speeds of 3-7 mb/s. At the moment, my download speed (based on the modem's configuration access page) is .768 mb/s. Everytime I reboot the modem I get a different speed. Most of the time I end up with speeds around .3-1.5 mb/s, rarely receiving the 3-7 mb/s that is to be expected. A logical person might ask: Why not just wait until you win the lottery of connection speeds and than be happy? The answer to that question involves the fact that usually within a short period of time after connecting, I disconnect. I can usually reconnect, but often with a much lower speed. Is there anything that can be done about this problem, or is it inherant to some Verizon customers?

These are usually isolated issues as they are dependant on per-connection conditions. Here it sounds like the copper circuit you're on has some sort of issue that is preventing the modem from getting the connection it should be able to get. Would you be willing to provide some Transceiver Statistics to us? You can find them if you go to http://192.168.1.1/htmlV/transtat.asp or by going to http://192.168.1.1/ by clicking System Monitoring, Advanced Monitors, and finally, Transceiver Statistics. A Screenshot or a Copy and Paste of the data will work.

  • Two par biddig and live action for sinle document

    Hi,
I have a requirement for a sngle shopping cart at the time of sourcing is it possible to carry out live action process and bidding (RFx process) simultaneously for single shopping cart document.

    only one JAy is correct.
SC Item will not agian appear in the cockpit once it was converted to next follow on docuement and Object links are created.
    OR
You can create an auction by converting an RFx into an auction. This enables you to process converted auctions more efficiently and use bids copied from an RFx to drive competitive bidding. You can choose to copy full-quantity bids without attributes from the RFx to the auction; only valid bids created for the current external version of the RFx are transferred during conversion.

  • Moving existing PAR Project in to JDI

Have anyone tried moving existing java iView projects in to Java Development Infrastructure of NW 04?. Is there any document that gives details about this?.

Thanks. It works. However i have two more questions.
    1) I have a project that has xyz libraries in build path of portal project. How can we have these libraries in the migrated project in DTR automatically?.
I have already tried importing the par file. However the project gives lot of compilation error about missing libaries in build path. I tried adding those libraies maunally but those entries got deleted when i build the project.
    2) I have posted this problem in another forum. i got an error "Used component not found: sap.com/tc/bi/bp/portalapplication" when i tried to build a simple "Hello World" project. Are we missing something in the development track configuration?.

  • Uploading par files in nwds and deploying back

    Hi all,
I wanted to work with the masthead iview in nwds, so found it on the server as the par file and imported it into NWDS. Changed the headeriview jsp and deployed it back to the portal. But it is not working. Saw in another sdn thread that when you create the project in nwds, it does not bring up all the components from the par file as required and some class files are missing. I think this is the problem in my case. The solution to it was not given in that thread.
    Would anybody help please.
    thanks.

    Hi
the following are the steps to modify a masthead.
1.Find the PAR file and copied to a temporary directory and renamed to the customer namespace taking off .bak extension.
2.Import the PAR file now using File->import option.
    3.make necessary modifications.
4.once the JSP is edited, the PAR file needs to be created ans uploaded to the portal. If JDK is installed just login into portal and deploy the pAR file otherwise use PortalAnywhere to deploy it.
5.Now goto Content Administration->Portal Content->right click the folder you wish to create the mastheadiView.Select New from Portal Archive-?iView from the context menu.Select new masthead.
    6. select poratal component Default and choose next.
7.enter the properties for masthead and next.
8.edit the Iview and saved it.
9.add the iView to Framework Page in portal catalog and edit page layout.
10.select iView from catalog and add it as Delta link and position it accordin to your need.
Hope this helps you to modify the masthead.
    Regards
    Victoria
