Good Morning.
I have below requirement :
I have developed one report which gives missing document numbers for particular fiscal year. But my client asked that program must run in Background for a given year from January until April next year. For example the program must run with fiscal year = 2011 from January 2011 until April 2012. So for the first four months of a year the program must be executed for two years (20XX and 20XX-1). The rest of the year itu2019s on to be run with year equal to 20XX and so onu2026
i.e, First job should start at 01.09.2010 to 30.04.2011 and second job should run from 01.01.2011 to 30.04.2012. Two parallel jobs must run from January to April of new fiscal year.
(This requirement is to trace if there is any missing documents in Special posting periods).
Could you please suggest in this regard.

Write a Wrapper Function module ( REMOTE ENABLED...JUST for convenience...) which will include your submit report statement along with dates....
Call this function module with addition IN BACKGROUND TASK AS SEPARATE UNIT DESTINATION 'NONE'

Parallel (same) background jobs: Memory and locking issues

<b>Scenerio:</b> Multiple concurrent inbound asynchronous XI messages need to be processed in SAP. We have the XI proxy initiating an RFC. This RFC exports internal tables (essentially the XI payload) to a unique shared memory ID (for each XI message). RFC then submits an abap (submit..and return) in a background job. This abap reads (via IMPORT) the shared memory ID to get the data then process it.
<b>Problem:</b> : When multiple concurrent jobs/abap are running, often, but not always, one of the submitted abaps either gets a non-zero return code from the IMPORT, or the IMPORT from shared memory seems to work fine, but the table contents contains data from the other (parallel) run, even though the memory ID used is correct and unique.
I have attempted to resolve this by using various methods (memory IDs, SPA/GPA parameter, ENQUEUE) of locking in the RFC (unlocking at end of abap), so that only one background job is executed at a time. However, the best I can do is having two or three running in parallel.
So I'm wondering how to solve this memory issue and/or how to make the abap processing synchronous? Any help appreciated. Thanks.

There is a limitation on Amt of data you can store in ABAP Memory and SAP Memory .. check those limitation ..per user ..
also check for Number of external session granted by urr basis ppl...
it may be possible that only 3-4 session are allowed coz each background process create and external session ..

Reg: Error in Mail sending through background job in SCOT

Hello experts,
I am trying to schedule a background job through SCOT so as to send the mails present in SOST.
The job is running but it is giving error as "Invalid status for recipient" in SOST.
But when I am sending it directly from SOST it is delivered without any errors. The email address is maintained correctly and SMTP settings are also correct as while sending it directly from SOST it reaches the required recipient without any error.
This error is observed only through background job. I am using program RSCONN01 with variant SAP&CONNECTINT in background job.
Kindly suggest why I am getting the error "Invalid status for recipient" in background job.

Reg Background job execution

Hi gurus,
I have a doubt in back ground job processing...We have a job which runs for very long time (archiving job). I want that job to run from Sunday morning to evening 6PM again I need to run the same job next sunday morning to evening continuing from previous week stop point.
My question , there is a option in SM37 to STOP the job. If I stop the job and then resume back the same job, will it continue from the point where it stopped?
Is there any way to execute the background job like above scenario. I know it can be done by 3rd party tool, but I want to do the same from R/3

Hi Vinodh,
In later versions of SAP (from Enterprise version if iam not wrong), you can interrupt the archive job and continue later. This is not the feature of background processing, but the archiving job itself.
Interruption is possible on basis of duration of the job and size of archive file. See the following link which details the mentioned feature; go to The Archive Development Kit and see the topic Interrupting and Continuing Archive Sessions:

I have created new user copied from DDIC with the same authorization. This is for scheduling Background Jobs. Now all the standard background Jobs are running fine. After scheduling the Jobs I have changed to system user. Now for audit purpose I need SAP note to do same. Please help me to get the sap note for the same. Please respond ASAP. treat this is as high priority.

HI,
It is not necessary for user having SAP_ALL authorization under which background job is running.
Define specific users to use for background processing. Define them as system users (non-dialog) and give them only the necessary authorizations that are needed for the executed programs

Reg Background Jobs

Hi,
I have scheduled a background job which have three steps. The first step is a zprogram and the second is standard program to generate sessions and the last step is to execute that session in background.
The problem i m getting, when there are no records in the first step, it is going to the second step and getting cancelled.
How can I come out of the other two steps in the job, when there are no records.

Hi Jelena,
The best option is to create 2 background jobs instead of 3.
The first job as the Z program,write a Submit to the SAP standard program from the first one only when there are records in the first one and create the 3rd as the second background job.

Reg: File Extraction from SAP Queries via background job

Is it possible to Extract a file to the presentation Server by running the ABAP Query's through SQ01 as a back ground job to generate a file automatically without running it manually.
I have tried recording the query's thru SQ01 with the File store Option to download it to Excel on the Presentation server.I have used CAll Transaction for SQ01 in the Zprg and submitted that Query to be able to download that Query in the mentioned path .The Zprg was executed via Background job.The file is extracted to the presentation server when the Zprg was executed via Foreground,but its not getting Downloaded to Excel Via Back ground job.
Please provide me the solution.

u cannot get file in presentation server.. in background..
if you are scheduling any background jobs it should be out of any gui interface.. like gui_dowload , gui_upload// ur need to replace then with cl_gui_fronend_services Class
or u have a option of writing file to application server in background using open dataset syntax.

I am sending IDOC from R/3 System to APO System.when idoc reached APO system.its triggers immediately and creating one file in application server(APO).sometimes this process makes more than 10 to 15 hours so user dont know whether is executing or failed. so i gave one soltion to user that is creating background job while idoc is executing when its idoc is processed then the background job also shows that finished..i dont know how to write this background job code in IDOC function module and also i dont know its possible in IDOC. i dont have knowledge in IDOC..Please helpme on this issue.

Hi,
You have not to write Back Ground Code in FM of IDOC.
To Process Idoc in Back Ground do following Step
Go to T-CODE We20
Select Partner
Double Click on any IDOC Message type in Outbound Parameter like INVOIC
In Outbound Options Tab, at Output Mode select Collect Idoc Radio Button.
For Inbound parameterDouble Click on any Message type.
Select Trigger by BackGround Program Radio Button
Please use T-code SM36 to schedule program which process Idoc.
The Program used is,
RSEOUT00 : For Processing 30 Status IDocs For outbound Idoc
RBDAPP01 : For Processing 64 Status IDocs For Inbound Idocs

Could you provide little more detail of the issue you encountering.
One of the reason could be 100% utilization of the CPU, all your background process might being used in parallel.
Check the load in the transaction st03n
To prevent this you may want to use load balancing on various application servers using the transaction smlg.
You may also want to define a flow of the the jobs, like job B should start after job A has completed.
Let us know more details of the environment to allow us to help you better

Background job is running for long tome in source system (ECC)

Hi All,
Background job is running for long tome in source system (ECC) while extracting data to PSA.
I checked in ECC system SM66,SM50 the job is still running
in SM37 the job is Active
There are only maximum 7000 records the extractor is 2LIS_02_ITM but it is taking 11 to 13 hours to load to PSA daily
I had checked enhancements every thing is correct.
Please help me on this how can I solve this issue.

How to submit a program after completion of a background job

Hi Experts,
I have a small issue. In my report program i am calling one transaction using call transaction it will trigger a background job. After completion of this background job i need to submit another program, Because the background job updating few values, using this value only the second program functionality will works.
Currently when i execute my report its calling 1st program and triggering the background job. Once the job started again the program triggering the next program. Here after competion of the background job only this program should submit next program. Anyone kindly suggest some clue.

There is one function module there which gives you the job status .. if the job is finished then the value will be 'F'.I don't exactly remember the FM but then you can search with BDLSTATUS or BDSTATUS in SE37..

Problem in Background Job Scheduling in GRC 5.3

Dear All,
I am configuring GRC RAR 5.3 SP11. While scheduling background jobs, only one job is running at a time. If I am scheduling Management report for one client of system (XYZCLNT300) and another job for User, Role and Profile synchronization- Full Sync for other client of the same system (XYZCLNT400).
So, only one job is running at one time and other job remains in Ready state. I have done following Config in GRC System:
1) GRC system has 2 server nodes.
2) Each Server node has 3 background job workers and 5 web service workers.
While Running 2 job at sametime, one is in Running status and other is in Ready Status. But that time only 2 background job workers are occupied one from each node while others are in IDLE state.
I am wondering if I have free background job workers then why other job is in Ready Status. Is there nay parameter that needs to be changed to run multiple background jobs in parallel ?
Please suggest.

As per SAP Note 1371501 - Multiple Batch Risk Analysis at a time, we cannot run multiple batch risk analysis at a time.
Batch Risk analysis will run only on server0 node.

Splitting a background job over different application servers

I am running my program in the background and its taking long to complete. I have done some optimizations and it has greatly improved but still not running as fast as I want because its processing large amounts of data and the amount of time that I want all the data to be processed is little compared to the runtime of the program so now I want to split the background job over different application servers. Can someone tell me how do I go about doing that and example ABAP code will be greatly appreciated.

Hello, If you are interested in BANK_PP_JOBCTRL, here are some of the inputs. Its work very efficeintly, though you will have to investigate a little bit froom your end.
With in package bank_pp_jobctrl , you will find these FM. I have mentioned the use of it as well.
RBANK_PP_DEMO_GENERATE_DATA: To create the Business data for Parallel Processing.
RBANK_PP_DEMO_CREATE_PACKMAN: To create Packages out of the business data.
RBANK_PP_DEMO_START : To process data in parallel.
RBANK_PP_DEMO_RESTART: To re-process failed records during parallel Processing.
You will need to call above in your report program in the same sequence as shown above based on you requirement. I did used only first three.
TO generate events you will need to execute SE38: RBANK_PP_GENERATE_APPL to create application this will create the FM with numbers as shown below.
Events: This PPF automatically triggers various events during the execution of theStart Program. Each of this event is associated with a custom function module which contains the business logic.
For implementing this framework, at least the below mentioned methods should be implemented .
0205 – Create Package Templates : This method is used to write the logic for creating packages which in turn decides the data to be processed in parallel. This function module is called in loop at the loop ends only when the exporting parameter E_FLG_NO_PACKAGE has a value ‘X’ passed back to the Parallel processing framework.
1000 – Initialize Package :This method is the first step in processing a package. It fetches all the parameters required for the parallel processing to start. All the parameters are passed to this FM as importing parameters and it is the responsibility of this FM to save it in global parameters so that it can be utilized by Parallel processing framework.
1100 – Selection per Range : This method is used to read data for a package. The objects selected must be buffered in global data areas of the application for later processing. The package information is stored as interval in global parameters and this information is used to select the package specific data.
1200 – Selection for Known Object List: This method is used instead of method 1100 if it is a restart run. The objects to be processed are known already.
1300 – Edit Objects: The processing logic to be implemented using parallel processing for the selected objects is written in this method. This function module is used to implement the business logic and

Simultaneous background jobs using the same BAPI issue

I scheduled 2 simultaneous background jobs on a custom program using the same BAPI (closing PM orders).
Run 1 to CLSD orders created on year 2001
Run 2 to CLSD orders created on year 2000
What happened was while run 1 was still active, run 2 encountered a dump and was cancelled.
Upon checking in ST22, dump was generated in CO_ZV_CONSISTENCY_CHECK.
Also, Run 2's dump happened when it encountered a data inconsistency for an order number being processed for Run 1.
Since the BAPI is being accessed at the same time by the two jobs, Is it possible that the commit work on run 1 could affect the processing for the Run 2, hence the data inconsistency?
Is this a buffer issue?
Additionally, no dump is encountered when Run 1 or Run 2 is run by itself.
I also encountered this issue before for creating Project and WBS using BAPI, but the solution we came up with was not to do parallel runs to avoid the error as this was a one time upload only.

If the second job is dependent on the 1st job, then use following logic which will let you know the status of 1st job. Once 1st job is completed, call JOB_OPEN of 2nd job.
