Parallel processing yields Generic SQL Error

I wrote up a utility program to generate test data. Given a set of systemusers it generates N contacts for each and a bunch of accoutrements for those contacts (a mix of associated custom entities and activities.) In an effort to speed it up
I modified it to run one user and started it up two Command prompts each processing a different user. Only one survives. They go along for a while until one fails with Generic SQL Error. I also tried 16 command windows -- the more "threads"
the faster the failures of all but one.
What puzzles me is that one would think this is analogous to 2 or 16 users at once. All the transactions are creates -- nothing is writing to the same record -- except for the uncharted javascripts & assemblies. By uncharted I mean I don't
know what all is going on in the background.
So, I guess the question is, is such failure to be expected? If not, is the problem infrastructure/throttling of some sort or certainly due to collisions in background processing?
Your thoughts are appreciated.

PS- it is not like multiple users in that all "threads" use the same credentials.

Sounds like you're getting locking errors - which are most likely due to plugins that may be firing. If you enable
tracing then you should get more information on the error, and the SQL that causes it

The BW module for the update statistics has been adjusted to SAPDBA or BRConnect (with regard to the heuristic, which is when, how and which statistics are created). To ensure that all table changes are taken into account, the relevant information must be flushed from the Oracle memory before the update statistics is carried out. For this purpose, the SAPCONN role (higher than ORA 10.2) or SAP SAP<sid> oder SAPR3 (ORA 10.1) requires additional authorizations that were not assigned up to now.

It seems that Index no longer exist which you are trying to delete.The 900 index, which exists on the F table only if the E table is partitioned, is deleted twice and on the second attempt it no longer exists.

If it relates your error it requires corrections for SP-12.

Execute the Query in RSRT with Execute and Debug option.
Select SQL statements toknow where exactly it's taking time.

when only one data package is there, the load happens without any issue. But when multiple data packages are involved the load fails with an error "Exception in parallel processing".

I got the following information from the function module documentation of the FM RSDRI_INFOPROV_READ.
If neither I_SAVE_IN_FILE nor I_SAVE_IN_TABLE are set, then the return takes place in the form of packages (that is an internal table), of value I_PACKAGESIZE. A negative value means that the return should be in one package.

My 2'c on the subject.
Don't break your head over parallel query (PQ) processing. It should be something that is of concern to the DBA/Oracle architect - not the developer.
Yes, it is good to be aware of how it works. But you should not write hints in your code that forces PQ processing.
Simple example. You use hints to force a PQ of degrees 5 (meaning 5 PQ processes will be used). It works great on development. In production, 10 users are running that query round about the same time. The PQ ceiling is 20 PQ processes. The 1st 4 users each gets 5 PQs processes and the remaining 6 get none. Or another developer did the same thing, only he was very greedy and coded a PQ of degrees 20 into his SQL. So his SQL is now consuming all available PQ processes. So how did forcing PQ in your code addressed performance? It did just for a couple of users with the majority of users now facing even worse performance.
The DBA is the one that should be tuning this. He/she can set the degree of PQ per table. Control the size of the PQ etc.
And it does not stop there. The primary reason for PQ in Oracle is to lower the latency of I/O. Let's say Oracle needs to reads 100MB worth of data (full table scan or fast full index scan for example). It uses multi block (sequential) reads to read bigger chunks at a time. Still, a single process can only read I/O so fast - the speed of which is entirely dependant on the I/O subsystem and hardware.
Using a second process to assist with the I/O can reduce the overall time. Instead of 1 process reading 100MB data, there are now 2 processes only having to read 50MB each.
But as I mentioned, the actual I/O thruput is a lower level function. Let's say you start a 100 processes. Great - each only have to read 1MB worth of data. Response should be fast.
Wrong. Those 100 processes seriously overload the I/O subsystem and throttle it so badly that the complete platform's performance is degraded severely. So instead of these 100 process speeding up I/O performance, they trash the performance of the entire platform.
Sure, this is an extreme example. But the basic concepts are usually illustrated much better using such an example.
So, you as developer deciding on just whether to use PQ and just how many PQ processes to use...? Wrong. It is not your decision, not your area of responsibility and usually not your area of expertise.
Know what PQ is. Know how PQ works. But think long and hard before forcing PQ via your code (using hints) on a production platform.

Error in Parallel processing through EG88 tranastion

While executing the EG88 tranasction for periodic replacement of list, I am getting a runtime error. In ST22, it describes that, transaction tried to call the function EGTUR but it is not found or not defined.
I checked the module PBIT INITIALIZE and the paralles RFC server in RZ12, all seems to be correctly defined.
what are the various checks that I can perform and what are the standard values that needs to be maintained for RFC server group in RZ12?
can anyone please help me to fix this issue?

Group data locked error for MM01 using parallel processing

Hello gurus,
I am using Call txn method (MM01) Parallel Processing method ( around 9 threads ). The Materials are getting locked around 10 percent sometimes.
This is happening randomly ..one day i dont have any locking errors ..next day i have ...Any ideas why this could be..any prereq i need to check before executing the parallel processing..

Hi Sasidhar
I guess you are either extending the Sales Data or MRP Data. Just make sure that you are processing these transactions in a linear form for a single material. We can use parallel processing for different materials but for a single material if we go for parallel processing we can definetely expect the Lock Objects error.

Parallel processing time out error

Hi All,
I am working on a scenario where in I am spawning two different parallel processe in a background job to calculate some entitlements.
My problem is even when running the main program in background mode the parallel processes are always spawned in a new dialog work process as a result of which if the dialog processes run for more than 15 minutes I get a time out error for the parallel jobs.
I understand that we cannot use the addition IN BACKGROUND TASK while doing the function call as we need the result from the function calls in the main program.
Is there any way where I can call parallel jobs in a background workprocess or override the time out issue without changing the system parameter value.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Parallel Processing: Error message 00-250: "No CUA area available"

Dear colleagues,
I have implemented a parallel processing with asynchronous RFC for a large data analysis in CO-PC. I think I was able to implement everything properly as described in the sap help: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/22/0425c6488911d189490000e829fbbd/content.htm
But now I face one problem: My jobs are often cancelled with the error message 250 of class 00 "No CUA area available".
I don't have a clue what this error message means. I couldn't find any help in the SDN, OSS or in the internet. Has anybody an idea how to handle this problem?

In your program while you doing the CALL FUNCTION - STARTING NEW TASK, did you check how many work processors are available.
Suppose you have 40K data in your internal table, and in one step you are passing 4 K data. Then 10 work processes are required. But in your group setting if you have define 9, then last one will fail. So before any 'submit job in new task' or any 'CALL FUNCTION - STARTING NEW TASK' statement if have to check if any work processes are available. if available then submit otherwise wait.

SQl Error while executing query in BEx

Hi All,
We are executing a Report in Bex 7.0 and we get the selection screen once i give the slections and execute it after running for few mins ( say 3 mins), its giving the below error message.
Error Sql: 1578
Error ORA-01578 ORACLe DATA BLOCK Corrupted(file #120, block #21118) ORA.
Errors occured during parallel process of Query 15;RC:3
Error while reading data Navigation is not possible.
I have regenerated the Query in RSRT, but no errors from it.
Other queries are working fine from BEx in the same BW system.
Plaese provide any inputs on this.

Therefore, your transaction was rolled back

ORACLE always terminates any transaction that would result in deadlock.
The other transactions involved in this potential deadlock
are not affected by the termination.

There are a few different scenarios that I can think of where this might come up that all involve what might resulting in parallel (concurrent)processes:
Loading packets in parallel - that is there are X number of processes loading packets concurrently. This could be set in your IMG settings system wide or in the InfoPackage for just this datasource. You seem to indicate that you don't have this.
Database parallel processing - RSAMDIN - ORA_PARALLEL_DEGREE ( there was a different RSADMIN parm for older versions - forget what SP the change came with).
You have multiple InfoPackages for the datasource, each loading what should be a different range of data, and they run atthe same time.
You could be loading from two different datasources to the ODS at the same time.
If any of these are true, I would look at bumping the INITRANS setting up. Your DBA will probably need to do this for table and its indices. There is a Note - 831234 that allows you to create a parameter in RSADMIN that will specify a INITRANS value (e.g. 20) rather than using the default. The ODS would need to be activated to pick this new setting up for the table to be altered.
You could also look at the Processing settings for the InfoPackage and change to PSA first, then target to see if that helps.
Or if you are loading from two different datasources at the same time, you might adjust your schedule so that doesn't happen.

Having said that, neither of the MAs to which you refer are official
Microsoft MAs and as such there is no support from Microsoft available.
Also, keep in mind that the ECMA1/XMA extensibility framework has been
deprecated and replaced by the ECMA 2.0. You should plan on replacing
existing ECMA1 management agents with ECMA2.0 connectors.
