PARAMETER CONVERSION ERROR

Hi all,
We have a strange problem. When run a RFC FM, SAP shows the abap dump and runtime error was PARAMETER CONVERSION ERROR. I use ST22 and find Error analysis was below.
Parameters:
P1..................... "XMLConverterMultipleImport failed in ab_xrfcreceive:abxrfccal.c(1328)#"
P2..................... " error message: not a name character for character entities(2)#"
P3..................... " error class: Document#"
so i want to ask what the kind error of this issue. why it said XMLXMLConverterMultipleImport failed. How can i resolve it?
thank you very much

Hi Dhamat,
This  is Z FM and it has 4 parameters with it. These parameters were complex and deep structure. The detail info is below.
CALL FUNCTION 'Z_RFC'
   EXPORTING
        EXPORT_PARA1     =   "this para is type of INTERNAL TABLE and contains 4 fields
        EXPORT_PARA2     =   "this para is flat structure and contains 3 fields
        EXPORT_PARA3     =   "this para is also type of INTERNAL TABLE and contains 4 fields
      IMPORTING
        DETAILS                  =    IMPORTANT: THIS para is also type of INTERNAL TABLE and it is COMPLEX AND DEEP STRUCTURE. it contains two fields and also type of INTERNAL TABLE.
I think this issue maybe due to complex and deep structure. but i don't make sure so help me.
Thanks

  • Sender file adapter conversion Error!!

    Hello every one....
    I am stuck with a problem...in my scenario,, there are possiblities that file may contain more than required paramters... in such case,,, paramters defined in conversion should go ahead and others should be ignored...
    for this very purpose i added the paramter:
    row.fieldSeparator                 ,
    row.fieldNames                     orderno,authcode,status
    row.endSeparator                  'nl'
    row.additionalLastFields      ignore
    the scenario works fine if the file contains thrree comma separated values but it raises an error if no of paramters increase as :
    Conversion of file content to XML failed at position 0: java.lang.Exception: ERROR converting
    document line no. 1 according to structure 'row':java.lang.Exception: ERROR in configuration: more
    elements in file csv structure than field names specified!
    we are using PI 7.... does it require some more configuration in additoin to paramter row.additionalLastFields
    any help in this regard would be highly appreciated...
    thanx

    this parameter is already set, and this is the exact behavior i want from adapter engine...  but the problem
    here is different... the exception is raised at communication channel's conversion routine level,,, the retry
    interval is not the one defined in visual admin but infact the interval (polling) time defined in communication
    channel.... the system does'nt stop after 3 attempts,, but infact keep on trying to read it....
    one peice of information i  have found is in sap note:821267 , which states:
    *Q35:*
    Q: I have configured a File Sender channel with File Content
    Conversion or a custom-developed module, which may throw an
    exception. When the File Adapter encounters an invalid file, which
    triggers a conversion error or an exception in a module, the
    adapter will enter a retry interval and upon each following
    processing attempt try to process the faulty file. This basically
    prevents the File Adapter from picking up files that are located
    after the fauilty file according to the configured sort order. How
    can I change this behavior?
    o A: This is by design. When the File Adapter encounters an invalid
    file, manually remove this file from the configured source
    directory. You can configure an alerting rule to get notified each
    time this occurs.
    We are currently evaluating possible solutions that could be used
    to skip this manual interaction.
    now can there be a way around to make communication channel read the file only 3 times (value defined in adapter engine profile in visual admin)
    I have thaught of writing of module.... but the error is raised even before calling module !!
    any further clue ???

  • Conversion error in process flow

    I've build a process flow with the following construction
    1. Function call (DB) which returns a date via a OUT parameter (Checked)
    2. Bound the OUT parameter to a Process-flow parameter of type date
    3. Use the proces-flow parameter to bind a input parameter in a following mapping.
    All is well in validation, generation and deployment, but upon running I stumble onto a conversion error. Somehow the process-flow parameter is represented in a format (2006-09-21 00:00:00.000000000 +02:00) which is not accepted in the mapping (tries to convert it using 'yyyy-mm-dd'). I cannot find the conversion in the coding.
    I've tried to see if either in the mapping or in the process-flow I'm able to input the format of the date, but was not successful.
    Anyone any idea

    Chris,
    Looks like a request has not got deleted properly from the table :
    Options that you could look at :
    1. Delete all the data from the ODS and load again ( if that is an option )
    2. There are some entries you need to delete from the RSODSACTREQ table- but for this the suggestion would be to raise an OSS note for SAP to look into the same - we had a similar issue and raised an OSS note for the same and then got some notes from sap.
    Also please mention your BI version and patch level.

    Hi Sanjay,
    The JDBC sender adapter returns the rows selected from the database in the follwoing format.
    <resultset>
    <row>
    <column-name1>column-value</ column-name1>
    <column-name2>column-value</ column-name2>
    <column-name3>column-value</ column-name3>
    </row>
    <row>
    <column-name1>column-value</ column-name1>
    <column-name2>column-value</ column-name2>
    <column-name3>column-value</ column-name3>
    </row>
    </resultset>
    This error occurs , when the source datatype you have created for the JDBC adapter does not match with this format. I would suggest that you check the source format along with the occurence of your field.

  • Numeric or value error: hex to raw conversion error , pls help

    I am having problem with a sproc which accepts a Raw parameter.
    I have a table called Profile:

    I get the following error:

    Harsh,
    I am not a user of the Enterprise Library so I can not speak to the specifics of that. However, here is a short sample that is based on the information you've provided. Perhaps it will be useful.
    Database:
    create table profiles
      profileid integer not null,
      userid    integer not null,
      profile   raw(255)
    create or replace procedure addprofile
      p_profileid in integer,
      p_userid    in integer,
      p_profile   in raw
    as
    begin
      insert into
        profiles (profileid, userid, profile)
        values (p_profileid, p_userid, p_profile);
    end;

          con.Open();
          // create command object and set properties
          OracleCommand cmd = new OracleCommand();
          cmd.Connection = con;
          cmd.CommandText = "ADDPROFILE";
          cmd.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure;
          // parameter object for profileid
          OracleParameter p_profileid = new OracleParameter();
          p_profileid.OracleDbType = OracleDbType.Int32;
          p_profileid.Value = 1;
          p_profileid.Direction = ParameterDirection.Input;
          // parameter object for userid
          OracleParameter p_userid = new OracleParameter();
          p_userid.OracleDbType = OracleDbType.Int32;
          p_userid.Value = 1;
          p_userid.Direction = ParameterDirection.Input;
          // create a byte array for the raw value

          OracleParameter p_profile = new OracleParameter();
          p_profile.OracleDbType = OracleDbType.Raw;
          p_profile.Value = byteArray;
          p_profile.Direction = ParameterDirection.Input;
          // add parameters to collection
          cmd.Parameters.Add(p_profileid);
          cmd.Parameters.Add(p_userid);
          cmd.Parameters.Add(p_profile);
          // execute the stored procedure
          try
            cmd.ExecuteNonQuery();
          catch (OracleException ex)
            Console.WriteLine(ex.Message);
          // clean up objects
          p_profile.Dispose();
          p_userid.Dispose();
          p_profileid.Dispose();
          cmd.Dispose();
          con.Dispose();
    }Maybe the part about creating the byte array is what you are missing...

    Are the parameters in your procedure in the same order as they are created in this code? Oracle command works by position unless you change it to be BindByName.
    Failing that you seem to have defined a parameter (P_NAME) to have a length of 6, and are then setting it's value to a string with a length of 9.
    Also the in/output parameter is defined as type decimal. Is this correct? It is defined as InputOutput but you don't assign it any value.
    If these suggestions don't help then perhaps if you post the stored procedure you might get some more ideas.

    To load that file with BULK INSERT, use this format file:
    9.0
    4
    1 SQLCHAR 0 0 "\""      0 ""    ""
    2 SQLCHAR 0 0 "\",\""   1 col1  Latin1_General_CI_AS
    3 SQLCHAR 0 0 "\",\""   2 col2  Latin1_General_CI_AS
    4 SQLCHAR 0 0 "\"\r\n"  3 col3  Latin1_General_CI_AS
    Note that the format file defines four fields while the fileonly seems to have three. The format file defines an empty field before the first quote.
    Or, since you already have a .NET program, use a stored procedure with table-valued parameter instead. I have an example of how to do this here:

    ORA-12899: value too large for column <COLUMN NAME> (actual: 42, maximum: 40)
    ORA-02372: data for row:<COLUMN NAME> : 0X'4944454E5449464943414349E44E204445204C4C414D414441'
    Kindly let me know how to overcome this issue in destination.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Vikas Krishna

    Hi,
    You can overcome this issue by increasing the column width in the target database for the max value required for all data to be imported successfully in the table.

  • Conversion error, from character set 4102 to character set 4103

    Hi,
    We've developed a JCO server(in Java) with an ABAP report the function provided by the JCO server.
    MetaData:
         static {
              repository = new Repository("SMSRepository");
              fmeta = new JCO.MetaData("ZSMSSEND");
              fmeta.addInfo("TO", JCO.TYPE_CHAR, 255,   0,  0, JCO.IMPORT_PARAMETER, null);
              fmeta.addInfo("CONTENT", JCO.TYPE_CHAR, 255,   0,  0, JCO.IMPORT_PARAMETER, null);
              fmeta.addInfo("RETN", JCO.TYPE_CHAR, 255,   0,  0, JCO.EXPORT_PARAMETER, null);
              repository.addFunctionInterfaceToCache(fmeta);
    Server parameters:
           Properties prop = new Properties();
           prop.put("jco.server.gwhost","shaw2k07");
           prop.put("jco.server.gwserv","sapgw01");
           prop.put("jco.server.progid","JCOSERVER01");
           prop.put("jco.server.unicode","1");
           srv = new SMSServer(prop,repository);
    If we run JCO server in both my client machine(from developer studio) and in the WAS machine(stand alone Java program), everything is ok. In the Abap side, the SM59 unicode test return the destination is an unicode system, and the ABAP report call the function can run smoothly.
    But we package this JCO server to a web application and deploy to WAS, problem occured. The SM59 unicode test still say the destination is an unicode system. But the ABAP report runs with an ABAP DUMP:
    Conversion error between two character set
    RFC_CONVERSION_FIELD
    Conversion error "RETN" from character set 4102 to character set 4103
    A conversion error occurred during the execution of a Remote Function
    Call. This happened either when the data was received or when it was
    sent. The latter case can only occur if the data is sent from a Unicode
    system to a non-Unicode system.
    I read the jrfc.trc log, it shows it receives data in unicode 4103(that's ok), but send data in unicode 4102(that's the problem).4102 is UTF-16 Big Endian and 4103  UTF-16 Little Endian. Our system is windows on intel 32 aritechture, so based on Note 552464, it should be 4103.
    Why it sends data (Java JCO server send output parameter to ABAP) in 4102?????
    What's the problem??? Thank you very much!!

  • SAXParseException: character conversion error: Illegal character 0x9A...

    This is my problem:
    I use JDom to parse remote XML document with DTD linked to it. But I get that error. Request is:
    SAXBuilder builder = new SAXBuilder();
    Document doc = builder.build(new URL(url));
    This works fine when I use these XML and DTD docs locally, which means that I give xml file name as a parameter from console. Then everything goes well. But when I move my program to server and try to run it there, SAXParseException is thrown. Why???
    Error is:
    error on line 1 of document "http://server.net/doc.dtd" Character conversion error: Illegal ASCII character 0x9A (line number may be too low)
    What this means? And why this just happens when I run program in server? Help, please

  • Conversion error occurs in all the command button actions

    we have two h:commandButton (save and back) in a jsf form.
    If i click the save button conversion for the form fields should happen(its happening correctly).
    But if i click the back button it should directly take me to the backing bean's action method without any conversion so that i can avoid the conversion errors.
    Is there any solution or work around to achieve this.
    Thanks,

    thanks for your response. below is the exact scenario for which we are looking for a solution,
    <rich:calendar value="#{MyBean.date}" id="dat" datePattern="MM/dd/yyyy" >
    <f:validator validatorId="isValidDate" />
    </rich:calendar>
    <h:inputText value="#{MyBean.str}" id="str"> </h:inputText>
    <h:commandButton value="save" action="#{MyBean.save}"/>
    <h:commandButton value="back" action="#{MyBean.back}"/>
    but in our case, during the back action method we need the bean value(id="str") for calculation but we don't want conversion to be happened for calendar field. if we use immediate attribute for back button we will not get the bean value(id="str") in the action method. is there any alternate solution to this.I cannot think of a standard technique to handle this case, where some of the data is needed but other data should be ignored. You might try to grab the value from the request parameter map and manually assign it to the model (this work around doesn't scale however).
    Perhaps what might work is to have a valueChangeListener on the fields which will be preserved; I think they will be fired even with the immediate attribute.
    I do not think the <f:attribute> solution suggested will work as attributes are server side artifacts.

  • How to custom a conversion error in JSF page in JDeveloper

    According to the book "Core JavaServer Faces" p213 (fifth edition), if I add the following line to messages.properties file, and specifiy it in the faces-config.xml and .jsp file, then the displayed conversion error message should be my tailored one instead of the default. However, I still get the default error message. Besides, I didn't find "CONVERSION" variable in UIInput class. Is the book wrong? And what's the correct way?
    javax.faces.component.UIInput.CONVERSION=Please correct your input

    I didn't choose any special in JDeveloper IDE. I just selected "new" to create a file called "message.properties" and put the line there. I didn't specify converters excepts declaring the type in the Jave Beans. I guess the converting is done by the JSF framework automatically. It must be a JSF converter since I created the page as a JSF page.
