Parse multiple items in a field.
I have a field that contains many part numbers. There can be 2 or more part numbers in the field separated by a space. How can this be dynamically read so you can compare the contents in the where clause to what you are search for? Example Part Numbers in the field: 1X 2X 3X 4Y 5Y 7Y
I would like to read the field and make rows out of the data.

7YIf by 'field' you mean 'column', then you are already starting with a seriously flawed design. Please do a little reading on 'data normalization' and 'third normal form'. Hopefully you aren't so committed to this design as to prevent correcting it before you get any deeper.

I have connected TABULAR Model to Excel, and in the pivot the filter is on multiple dimensions. When doing the drillthrough action it gives error - Error: Show Details cannot be executed when multiple items are selected in a report filter field or in a slicer
Is there any workaround to this error? so that drillthrough can be done even with multiple selection.Hi Vikas,
The reason behind the error message requires the knowledge on what happens at the backend. When you perform a drill-through action, a query is sent to Analysis Services. This query is expressed in a query language called Multi-Dimensional Expression (MDX).
Since the MDX language doesnot support drill-through command against a set (collection of tuples) an error is persisted.
For now, there is no workaround as it is a limitation of the underlying language that is generating the query.
When multiple items are selected you lose the ability to drill-down on individual metrics. To resolve you must either:
1. Select a single Item.
2. Select all items.
Hope this helps!

Trying to customize a multiple item lookup field using JSLink
I'm trying to Customize a multiple item lookup field using JSLink, in SP 2013. This illustrates what I want to do:
I can replace the ";" with <br /> in the Text column, but not the Lookup column. Here is the JSLink code I'm using for the Text column.
(function () {
var overrideCtx = {};
overrideCtx.Templates = {};
overrideCtx.Templates.Fields = {
'Text': { 'View' : '<#=ctx.CurrentItem.Text.toString().replace(";","<br />")#>' }
SPClientTemplates.TemplateManager.RegisterTemplateOverrides(overrideCtx);
How can I display each item on separate lines in the Lookup column?You can retrieve the values of the lookup column and reformat their display by replacing the following:
overrideCtx.Templates.Fields = {
'Text': { 'View' : '<#=ctx.CurrentItem.Text.toString().replace(";","<br />")#>' }
with something like this:
overrideCtx.Templates.Fields = {
'Lookup': { 'View' : function(ctx) {
var arr=[];
var fld=ctx.CurrentItem[ctx.CurrentFieldSchema.Name];
for (i=0; i<fld.length; i++) {
arr.push(fld[i].lookupValue);
return arr.join("<br/>");
Here we are looping through each lookup value contained in the multi value lookup field and adding it to an array. Once complete, we use join to flatten the array and separate each entry with the <br/>. Note...this will show each value on a new line,
but it will be the string value without the hyperlink. If you want the actual hyperlink to the item, you can rebuild the hyperlink and add that to the array instead. You can get the item's display form from ctx.CurrentFieldSchema.DispFormUrl and the
item's id from fld[i].lookupId for rebuilding the hyperlink. -
Set focus on item that selected in multiple-selection list box field in infopath
Hi
I have multiple-selection list box field in infopath that have for example 40 items. (I customize sharepoint list with infopath),then
publish infopath form in to sharepoint list. users want to add new item,when they selected or checked each item in multiple selection list box, after that automatically control focus on first item, but I want to focus remain on that item
I was selected. Why this happen?! I also set postback settings to “never” in multiple-selection list box properties. But didn’t work.
Thanks.Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to find several columns based on user selection of checkboxes in one of the Multiple-selection List Box.
I recommend to customize the form to concatenate values from choice field (with multiple values) into single line text box, and then hide the fields based on the text box value.
We can follow the steps as following:
Add a text box control(filed 3) on the form to hold the value selection in the multiple selection list box.
Set the default value for the text box control as
substring-after(eval(eval(Value, 'concat(., ";")'), ".."), ";")
(you need to change the ‘Value’ in the formula to your multiple selection list box name: filed1).
Add the conditional formatting on the flied: flied 3 does not contain value (you need to change the ‘Value’ in the formula to your multiple selection list box value.).
In addition, you can add Formatting action to hide the text box control.
Here are the result screenshots for you to take a look at:

Adding multiple items at once to a SharedCollection
I'm playing around with Cocomo for the first time. I like it
a lot, but haven't yet got enough understanding of the API. So I'm
sure I'm missing something obvious.
Anyway. I want to build an application that share an array of
items between clients. The array should be persistent and when a
new client connects it will get the latest data. At the startup of
the first client I want to fill the shared array with default data.
I also want to revert to this data from time to time in an
applications lifecycle.
I've been checking out the examples and I think a
SharedCollection would be perfect for this scenario (not sure if it
really is?).
The problem I have is when I try to fill the SharedCollection
with data, using the addItem method within a for loop, I only get
an entry with the last item, instead of multiple entries (I'm
checking what data that has been added by using the Dev Console).
I'm doing all this in the SYNCHRONIZATION_CHANGE event (only the
first time it's fired).
I should also note that this happens the first time, when no
CollectionNode already is created. When a CollectionNode already
exist it works.
Is this totally the wrong way to go? Am I missing something
about how CollectionNodes should be created? Any help is highly
appriciated!Hi ,
I actually modified the SharedCollectionExample locally to
have items added in the beginning in synchrinization change
handler. It works fine for me , here is what I did
In the SharedCollectionExample in the examples folder ,
add this line
_model.addEventListener(CollectionNodeEvent.SYNCHRONIZATION_CHANGE,onSynchronizationChang e);
in the onCreationComplete() method where you first declare
SharedCollection Class.
And in the
private function
onSynchronizationChange(p_evt:CollectionNodeEvent):void
if ( _model.isSynchronized ) {
_model.addItem({State:"Nevada",Capital:"Carson City"});
_model.addItem({State:"California",Capital:"Sacramento"});
I can get multiple items( i.e. these two items i added) in
the very beginning. If you check that the model ( SharedCollection)
is synchronized and add within it the items it should work fine and
will give you an initial set of items. Also, shared collection has
a property called idField and it will index objects based on this
field value with duplicates being overwritten.
I hope this helps. Otherwise please copy fractions of code
where you are still finding problem.
Thanks

How do you use the Multiple Item Information dialog box ???
How do you use the Multiple Item Information dialog box ???
Where are the instructions on how the information in the Multiple Item Information dialog box equates to ...
1. The way iTunes sorts tracks and albums
2. The reason to select a leading check box
3. Why there are Option selections (Yes /No) and leading check boxes.
4. Why some changes remain in the track info, but do not "take effect" in iTunes (Part of a compilation is an example)
Looked in Help, Support, went to the local Genius bar for an hour, even arrainged a call from apple support ...
ThanksAs Christopher says, it's a compilation. Different tracks are by different artists.
Setting the *Album Artist* field to *Various Artists* and setting *Part of a compilation* to Yes should be all that is required. Depending on your *Group compilations when browsing* setting ( I recommend On ) either should suffice but I suggest doing both.
Based on your commentary, I selected all the "O Brother" tracks, and checked the boxes for everything line that was blank in the Info and the Sort panes. Only exceptions were the album name and the disc number 1 of 1 and the artwork. I blanked and checked anything else.
That's not what I meant. When you select multiple tracks, only those values which +are already common+ to all tracks are displayed. Typically these will include Artist, though not with compilation albums, Album Artist, Album, No. of Tracks, Genre plus various sort fields. A blank value may indicate that different tracks have different values or it may be that the value is blank for all tracks. For the drop down values on the Options tab the value shown may not reflect the information in every tag. If values you expect to be common, such as Album Artist or the Album title are not displayed you can simply type these in and click OK. This will often be enough to group the album.
If you place a checkmark against the blank boxes and apply changes then you will clear those fields so you should only do this if that is the effect you want. Putting a checkmark next to an empty (representing different values) *Track No.* box, for example, will just clear the all the track numbers which is very rarely useful.
Adding then removing extra text is for a specific problem where despite all common values being identical across the tracks of the album iTunes seems to "remember" that it should see two albums. A typical example would be when an album originally listed as *Album CD1* & *Album CD2* is given disc numbers X of Y and then has the Album name changed to Album. I've seen iTunes merge all but one track into the new album, but insist on listing one remaining track separately, despite both albums having the same title. In this case I've found overtyping the album title again has no effect whereas changing it to AlbumX and then back to Album does what I was trying to achieve in the first place.
Don't forget that even properly organsied albums may still break up if you don't chose an album-friendly view. Sorting on the track name or track number columns can be useful in some circumstances but in general I revert to Album by Artist when browsing through my library.

How to delete multiple items in XSLT Dataview webpart
Hi,
I am creating a combined view based on 3 lists with common column like (number) with merge option and now I have added a delete button on top and my requirement is to delete multiple items on selection in combined view using linked data
source and for single item I am able to delete but I am unable to get the data from number field on multiple selection. deletion is performing in 3 lists based on number column value.
Kindly give me any better procedures than this for deletion of multiple item on selection.
Thanks
Razvi444Hi Razvi444,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to delete multiple items in XSLT Dataview webpart on button click.
For achieving your demand, you can refer to the blog:

How do I update grouping or description for multiple items?
As the question implies, I would like to update information in the Grouping and Description fields for multiple items as a way to keep things organized. What I have discovered is that there are some quirks in the new Get Info window that were not in past implementations, which are completely inexplicable and nonsensical to me.
For instance, when you open the Get Info window for an item that has no information in, for instance, the Grouping field, you will not see a Grouping input field, as in this screenshot. The Grouping field should be where the bottom arrow is. Notice also that the Description field is available. I will get back to that in a minute.
If you manually double-click into the Grouping field on the main iTunes screen, you can enter the information there. Then, when you open the Get Info window, ta-dah! The field magically reappears, as in the screenshot below.
The trouble comes when you want to edit this field for multiple tracks. If you select multiple tracks, and they do not all have the Grouping field already populated, the field does not appear. What this means is that you are forced to manually enter the information for every track! This is completely unacceptable when you need to edit information for, as in my case, 122 tracks. The following image shows the Get Info window that appears after selecting two items, one with the Grouping field manually populated, and one with no info in the Grouping field.
Not only has the Grouping field disappeared, but the Description field, as well. Thanks, Apple, but I think I can decide for myself whether or not to populate these fields for multiple items. Let's get 'em back, huh?
SO… does anyone know of any valid method for accomplishing this task? Without manually entering the same information in hundreds of fields? This is the future; computers are supposed to do these monotonous tasks for us, aren't they?
Oh, please don't suggest Option-clicking to open the older, better, Get Info window, as Apple has decided that we should not have that option any longer. We apparently have to organize our music their way. Think different!The Add Field button was in the editors of 12.0.1 (where the new-style editors had a very "half-finished" feel) - it is not there in 12.1. Apple have determined which metadata fields should be available for each kind of media, with no option for the user to modify this. In Apple's own words: "Get Info has been completely redesigned in iTunes 12 to focus your attention only on what’s necessary for the selected item."
The only options are:
temporarily change the media kind (Options tab) to one that includes the field you want to add values to, enter those values, and then change the media kind back again
make the relevant fields visible in an appropriate list view and edit values there - the big limitation being that you can only do this one item at a time
I can see - to a degree - why Apple may have made some limitations so that metadata elements are available based on their relevance to different media kinds. However, one of the issues mentioned above seems like a bug - if a single audiobook file can have a Description tab, I see no reason at all for that not to be available for multiple items of the same kind.
If not already done so, report these issues and dissatisfaction with the "new" metadata editors in 12.1 (and the absence of a "back door" for the old-style ones) using Apple's iTunes feedback page. -
SQL Query -How2bring multiple results into one field using Formatted Search
Hi Everyone
i am trying to bring in the results of the field dbo.Lot_ITEM.LOT using a formatted search into a row level using the following query:
SELECT dbo.LOT_ITEM.LOT
FROM dbo.DLN1 INNER JOIN dbo.LOT_ITEM ON dbo.DLN1.ItemCode = dbo.LOT_ITEM.ITEM
WHERE dbo.LOT_ITEM.ITEM=$[DLN1.ItemCode]
however the result of the dbo.Lot_ITEM.LOT field could be more then one value depending on how many lots are assigned for that item
(for example this query would be similar to assigning batch/serial numbers to an item being despatched - as you can choose multiple batches/serials depending on the quantities available and required and then move from the left to the right side of the selection window) if that makes sense!
is it possible to bring in the multiple results into one field? and how can i amend the above query to include this?
Thankyou in advance :o)

Edited by: Asma Bi on Apr 23, 2008 7:24 PMHi Suda
Thanks for replying :o) but im not sure about the query?
just to simplify it (as the query im working with is to do with 3rd party addons) i have used the serial/batchs field instead and used standard demo database fields from SBO 2005 sp01:
SELECT dbo.ixvSerialNoFact.SRI1_IntrSerial
FROM dbo.DLN1 INNER JOIN
dbo.ixvSerialNoFact ON dbo.DLN1.DocEntry = dbo.ixvSerialNoFact.SRI1_BaseEntry
WHERE dbo.ixvSerialNoFact.ItemCode='g1000' and dbo.ixvSerialNoFact.SRI1_BaseEntry = '193'
The above brings me the relevant results but when i change it to be used in a formatted search:
SELECT dbo.ixvSerialNoFact.SRI1_IntrSerial
FROM dbo.DLN1 INNER JOIN
dbo.ixvSerialNoFact ON dbo.DLN1.DocEntry = dbo.ixvSerialNoFact.SRI1_BaseEntry
WHERE dbo.ixvSerialNoFact.ItemCode=$[dln1.itemcode] and dbo.ixvSerialNoFact.SRI1_BaseEntry = $[dln1.DocEntry]
i cant seem to get it to work - now this may be because the serial number is not allocated until teh record is added to the system, however when this happens i am unable to go back in and manually trigger the query as the delivery note rows cannot be selected!
i think as what im originally wanting an answer for is same as this example, im wanting to know if this is even possible?
Thanks

Multiple selection" in the field property in ACROBAT XI
When the "multiple selection" in the field property is available in FormsCentral, I can't find it in ACROBAT XI (Just bought it).
If this field is not available in ACROBAT XI, how can I modifiy the form uploaded (already built) in FormsCentral to be able to use this fonction ?
What I want to do is to have a mandatory field with several possible answers.
Unfortunately I'm not sure this is what I'm looking for.
If I use the Radio Button, every selection are mutually exclusive.
What I need is to be able to select several responses, but to have to select at least one of them.
People may have the choice of responding by checking one, two or more items but they must answer the question. -
FOR ALL ENTRIES IN - For Batch Split & multiple items

Report is working accurate in normal scenario. But -
Here, In Batch split with multiple items -->
FOR ALL ENTRIES IN - is not taking values.

39782 20 3456 10 14
Here,
only one OBD 1234 (sr no 12 & 13 ) is get entered in ITAB and not 3456.
(i.e. in gi_objkso all 3 entries are there, but in gi_objkpo only two entries are transferred)
Where, Production order is there for all three Sr. No.
My code is -->

AND equnr EQ gi_objkso-equnr
AND matnr EQ gi_objkso-matnr
AND taser EQ 'SER05'.Hi,
Do you create more than one production order per sales order line? If not, you could change the match to look at table AFPO for fields KDAUF = sales order number) and KDPOS = salse item number.
If you are going down to serial number level, after this select (fields are indexed in index AFPO~3, by default I think), then you could use your additional serial number field match after getting the list of production order numbers for the sales order/item.

Sorting / Get Info for Multiple Item Information
I want to sort based on album artist and then album. (Can I/How do I) select a secondary sort item? How do I suggest additions to the Multiple Item Information dialog, specifically sort album artist, sort album)?
Click on Album column header a few times.
It will cycle Album -> Album by Artist -> Album by Year and back to Album.
How do I suggest additions to the Multiple Item Information dialog, specifically sort album artist, sort album)?
No need to.
Fill in the info in one sort field, then click okay.
Right click on that song then *Apply sort field* and select which field you want to apply. -
DropDownByKey - support for selecting multiple items?
Hello
Is there a simple way to allow a selection of multiple items (zero or more) when using a dropdown ui element?
Thanks in advance
RobPlease read the Javadoc:
* Web Dynpro AbstractDropDownByIndex API.
* Abstract base class of drop-down list classes with index based context binding.
* Represents a one-from-many selection visualized by a text field, a button and a drop-down list.
* The selected value is displayed in the text field, the list of all selectable values is displayed
* in the drop-down list which appears when the button is pressed.
* <p>
* <strong>Data binding:</strong>
* <br>
* The displayed texts and the selection are retrieved from a context.
* The context must provide a node <code>X</code> with <code>X.cardinality = 0..n</code> with an attribute
* <code>y</code> of type <code>String</code>.
* The selectable values are the values of attribute <code>y</code> of the node elements.
* The selected value is determined by the lead selection of node <code>X</code>.
* <p>
* The property <code>texts</code> must be bound to the attribute <code>y</code>.
* <p>This type can be called by applications using Web Dynpro, but DO NOT EXTEND OR IMPLEMENT IT!</p>

A one-from-many selection control will by definition never allow a multiple selection. -
Validation Associated with Multiple Items?
I have six textbox items on my page. I have a function that validates whether all the six values belong to a specific criteria. If all of them pass the validation, I set a flag to 1. If any of the values does not pass the validation, I set the flag to 2. I need to display an error message inline with all the six fields if my flag is set to 2. But, as far as my understanding goes, in Apex, one validation can be associated with only 1 item. Is there any workaround?
I am not 100% sure, but I think this is not possible. Either you have a item level validation
for each item separately or you have a page level validation. Item validation displays the
error inline with field if you want so. Page level validation can be associated only with one
item but not with multiple items. So, you need six validations indeed.
