Parsing Non-Standard HTML Attributes

Hi, recently I have been making use of the HTMLEditorKit to parse HTML pages and extract the values of certain attributes. However, I run into problems when attempting to extract the values of non-standard html attributes since javax.swing.text.html.HTML.Attribute does not allow you to define new attributes only use its existing values. Does anyone know a way of getting values from non-standard attributes?
Thanks,
Ross

How have you been?  Wishing you a belated Happy New Year!
I like your expression:  "step away from the mouse".  Very much to the point.
Thanks for the advice.  I'll check out XPath.

Doing well, Thanks.  Wishing you an early Chinese New Year.  (that's going to get bleeped). [Edit:  Yay, no more bleeping Chinese]
Be a little careful with XPath.  Some people have been known to wrap C++ libraries to have access to XPath 2.0 and an XSLT engine for awesome search and replace capabilities.  Others have been known to find ways to program XPath graphically:

  • Non-compliant HTML from ADF Faces 10.1.3.2

    We have had a query about the HTML rendered from ADF components from a potential client. When a page generated from an ADF Faces app. is run through the W3C HTML validator, it returns a number of errors, suggesting that the HTML does not conform to the current HTML 4.01 standard, although this is the standard specified in the doctype for the page.
    For example a test jspx page built with a simple ADF Faces PanelPage component only, generates numerous errors when run through the validator at http://validator.w3.org.
    Does Oracle have an official position on this? Is this something we will have to live with unless we write our own renderer? Do Oracle propose to change the components to conform with the standard in the future?
    Matthew

    Matthew,
    can you explain what your concrete concern is? I handled a similar question in the past where the claim was that non-standard HTML would make web pages look insecure. However, there was no proof for this statement, so I am wondering if it is the same argument.
    So please let me know what exactly it is that makes your client worry? If you use the same validator and try www.yahoo.com or www.google.com, it will show errors as well. I am not sure there are many web page on this planet that pass the validation test wth no errors.
    Back to your question though; There is no official statement Oracle has on HTML compliance in writing that you can pass on to your client.
    We do look at the validness of the generated HTML for the components we write on a regular basis. We don't see or have reports of limitation of our generated HTML and perform regular browser certifiation tests to ensure that applications built with ADF Faces don't fail browser support.
    If there is a serious issue with the genrated HTML code that prevents you or your client to run web applications built with ADF Faces, please let us know by filing a Service Request with customer support so we have a bug to trace and fix.

  • Oracle DB: How to parse XML where element names are non-standard ?

    I'm in the unfortunate situation that I have illegal XML that I would like Oracle to parse. By 'illegal' in my case is that there are element names that start with an illegal character, such as a digit. Apart from this the XML is syntactically valid.
    Here is an example of the XML I have stored as a column in the database:
    <schedule>
        <1stweek>
        </1stweek>
        <2ndweek>
        </2ndweek>
    </schedule>Right now I'm doing text search-and-replace on the XML text before I let Oracle parse it, for example replacing '<1stweek>' with '<x1stweek>' and so on. Needless to say this is very slow.
    My question is if there is a way to tell the XML parser in the Oracle DB (I'm using version 10.2) to be a bit more forgiving ? ... so that it will accept element names that start with e.g. a digit ? I know that such an option exist in some XML parsers but what about Oracle's and if so how to set the option?
    And before you ask I'll answer myself: No, I'm not the one who created the non-standard XML. It is from a third-party application which I cannot change myself and cannot get the vendor to change either.
    Thank you.

    if you cast your clob to an xmltype then you can search and extract values based on tags.
    Heres an example where the table is a clob and value is cast and I'm looking for an existing attribute_name.
    Check out the Oracle XML developers Guide

  • Protecting Apache URLs ending in '/' with non-standard DirectoryIndex

    I'm using Apache agent 2.2 for Acces Manager 7. My Apache version is 1.3.33. I have a DirectoryIndex line in my httpd.conf like so:
    DirectoryIndex index.cgi index.html
    So when I request the URL <http://server.edu/subdir/> I should get <http://server.edu/subdir/index.cgi>.
    My problem is when URLs like this are protected by Access Manager. I have an inverted notenforced_list, which contains http://server.edu/subdir*. So only stuff in subdir should be controlled by AM. I want all 3 of these URLs to give the same results:
    http://server.edu/subdir
    http://server.edu/subdir/
    http://server.edu/subdir/index.cgi
    The first and third URLs work as expected; the second one (with a trailing '/') doesn't work. If I change my notenforced_list to read http://server.edu/subdir/*, then only the third (complete) URL works.
    By looking at the agent logs in debug mode, it appears that AM is first looking at policy for http://server.edu/. That test passes, since that URL is part of the (inverted) notenforced_list.
    Then the agent goes on to check the /subdir URL -- but it tacks on index.html:
    2006-04-20 14:06:58.144 Debug 10883:252998 PolicyAgent: get_request_url(): Returning request URL http://server.edu/subdir/index.html.
    Then it goes on to say that it will enforce policy on this URL, which is correct, but it's referring to index.html, not index.cgi. I'm never prompted for authentication, I just get a browser error that says the page cannot be displayed. If I ask explicitly for http://server.edu/subdir/index.cgi, everything works as expected -- I'm redirected to the AM server and prompted to authenticate, then redirected back to the URL I originally requested.
    Am I missing something here? Has anyone else tried to protect URLs ending in '/' with a non-standard name?

    Here is the log extract. You can see pretty clearly that it just tacks on 'index.html' to the end of the original URL, when it gets to the 2nd phase of the policy evaluation (after checking for root-level policy). Thanks for taking a look!

  • Question about HTML attributes

    I am parsing HTML code and need some help. Maybe it's because
    I don't understand HTML code or something.
    Anyways, I'm trying to get the content of an HTML element. Given the
    following Java code:
         // Iterate through the elements of the HTML document.
         ElementIterator it = new ElementIterator(doc);
         javax.swing.text.Element elem;
         while ((elem = it.next()) != null) {
              SimpleAttributeSet s = (SimpleAttributeSet)elem.getAttributes().getAttribute(HTML.Tag.A);
              if (s != null) {
              System.out.println(s.toString());
              System.out.println(s.getAttribute(HTML.Attribute.HREF));
              System.out.println("element: " + elem.toString());
              if (elem.getName().equals("tr")) {
              System.out.print("found TR: ");
              Enumeration e = elem.getAttributes().getAttributeNames();
              while (e.hasMoreElements())
                   System.out.print(e.nextElement().toString() + " ");
              System.out.println();
    I can't figure out how to parse the content from table data.
    Here is my HTML code:
    <TR VALIGN="top">
    <TD ALIGN="left" COLSPAN="2">
    <FONT FACE="Monospace,Courier">KDEN 191753Z 10007KT 050V150 10SM FEW090 SCT120 SCT200 29/M01 A3004 RMK AO2

    DSNT SW-NW T02830000</FONT><BR>
    <BR>
    </TD>
    </TR>
    The code picks out the HTML attribute "valign" for the TR element. But,
    how do I get to the actual content.
    What I would like is to get the string that begins with KDEN.
    Any comments would be helpful.
    Thanks.
    -brad w.

    I was able to make this work.
    What I did was the following:
    <code>
         // Parse the HTML.
         kit.read(rd, doc, 0);
         // Iterate through the elements of the HTML document.
         ElementIterator it = new ElementIterator(doc);
         javax.swing.text.Element elem;
         while ((elem = it.next()) != null) {
    //          System.out.println("element: " + elem.toString());
              if (elem.getName().equals("content")) {
              start = elem.getStartOffset();
              end = elem.getEndOffset();
              // System.out.println("found content: beg_offset: " + start + "end_offset: " + end);
              if ((end-start) < 4)
                   continue;
              try {
                   loc = doc.getText(start, 4);
              } catch (BadLocationException ex) { continue; }
              if (loc.startsWith("KDEN"))
                   System.out.println(doc.getText(start, end - start));
    </code>
    I need to use the start and end position of the element to get
    the text from the Document.

  • Version 8 blocks http on non standard ports i.e. 8080

    Version 7 handled http on both port 8080,8081 and 8082 but only text is passed after version 8 update. Is there a way to re-enable http on non standard ports? If you save the text file to the desktop and load it from there the html is processed correctly? Is there a directive besides "html" that could be place on the web pages to force html rendering on the odd ports. Version 8 works with port 4135 from Jefferson labs speed test.

  • Making custom non-standard components aware of custom look and feels.

    Hello all.
    Maybe the subject of this post could also be the opposite: "Making custom look and feels aware of non-standard custom components". I'm not sure.
    If I code a new custom component (extending JComponent, or extending the UI delegate of a standard component) and pretend it to be laf aware then I must create the corresponding UI delegate for each laf, like it happens to be with standard swing components. But I'm not sure it is feasible to create the UI delegates for all unknown existing custom lafs.
    On the other side, if I create a custom laf then I will also create a custom UI delegate for each standard component, but I can not create UI delegate for all unknown existing custom components.
    The point here is that standard components and standard lafs are universally known, while custom components (or custom ui delegates) and custom lafs are not.
    So the question is: How does a swing developer deal with the case of a new custom component that will be used in an unknown custom laf?
    For instance:
    1. Custom text UI delegate for dealing with styled documents in JTextField. See {thread:id=2284487}.
    2. JTabbedPane with custom UI delegate that paints no tab if the component only contains one tab.
    In both cases I need a UI delegate for each known laf, but what happens if the application is using a laf that certainly will not be aware of this custom functionally?
    Thank you!

I suggest if you want to make your custom component look & feel aware, you design the way it displays around the l & f of other components that are part of j2se and have l&f implementations.

  • Add Non-Standard Web Link in Mac Mail

    Does anyone know how to add a non-standard web link? The add link dialog box does not like my url.
    I need to add a link like this: http://someserver100/index.html.
    It disables the "OK" button as soon as I add the "100" after "someserver".
    Prior to the Leopard upgrade I never had a problem doing this. Now it seems that Mail is trying to be too clever. Please help, this is an important business need for me to be able to send links like this.

    I didn't originally go deep into detail as not to bore, but maybe the details will make the difference.
    I am a web developer. I have a client that I vpn into to make web updates. The server that I work on is a testing / development server, not the outside world facing production server. The server is not viewable via a domain name. So I can not get to it by typing www.domainname.com. Instead, the client's IT guys have a host name set up for the server that I need to use due to some of the back end technology that serves the pages.
    The server name is "development100".
    In order for me to view pages on this server, I had to make an entry in my host file so my browser would know what ip address "development100" is associated with. That way whenever I type "http://develoment100" into my browser's url bar to proof my web work it would resolve me to the testing / development server.
    Now, once my changes are done and posted, I need to send a notification email to the IT staff that servers two purposes. First, it gives them an exact url laundry list of what files have have updated. Second, it gives them a link to click for each item that will allow them to proof that html, jpeg, etc.
    A typical item in this list would like like this: http://development100/index.html
    That link should send them directly to the index page on the server for example. I have be using this system of building the notification emails with these links for over five years and prior to upgrading to Leopard, it always worked.
    Now, if I try to "Add Link" and type "http://development100/index.html" in the dialog box. The "OK" button will become disabled as soon as I key in the first number in that link.
    If I don't "Add Link" and just key "http://development100/index.html" into the body of the email the link will cut off at the first number as well. So the link will look like this: "http://development"
    Sorry for the long explanation, but I think that it is necessary. The answer may just be that Apple is trying to verify / qualify links automatically and wont let numbers go in the link name without a .com / suffix. Thanks for the help.

  • Relocating a non-standard library with Applescript

    Hello everyone,
    I have been using an ibook for a while now and consequently had my entire 10,000 song library on an external firewire harddrive. Until now...
    Just purchased a new iMac with a nice big 500gb internal harddrive.
    I'd like to relocate the entire library to the new internal harddrive. Although most of my library is structured the way iTunes does it (artists/album folders), about 1000 or so random songs are in other folders. (I only keep complete albums in folders using the "iTunes way") Therefore the iTunes-provided "Consolidate Library" feature will not help me. I want to keep my own structure.
    Through searching the internet, I've found this link that appears to be the solution I'm looking for. http://www.xs4all.nl/~smulleke/2004/06/10/index.html#post200406101029
    However before I do this, the article does make mention of Applescript being able to help my in my cause.
    Are there Applescripts that will ease the process of relocating a non-standard library structure? Or should I go ahead and try this.
    Also, has anyone had any success in a similar situation?
    Thanks.

    Well, you could create your own presets, but that's an awful lot of work. The smart brush is just using gradient map adjustment layers, so you could get the same effect by selecting what you want,  choosing a gradient, and then creating a new gradient adjustment layer. But me, I'd just do a hue/saturation adjustment layer or plain layer in color mode instead.

  • Does it Possible? Double non standard-port FTP servers on PAT?

    Hello everyone!
    I need to know how to configure 2 ftp servers for following topology on pic.
    non standard ports
    I can do translation on 1 ftp server (http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/ip/network-address-translation-nat/13776-6.html)
    but when I am trying to add second FTP server I get following:
    #ip nat inside source static 192.168.1.129 46.229.139.130
    % similar static entry (192.168.1.236 -> x.x.y.y) already exists
    Thank you.

    Hello Jody.
    That's is great! Thank you! Just added couple "ip nat service" and now working!
    Also I noticed one thing.. 2 FTP servers is NAS Synology and that FTP servers have been configured slightly different. Look at the screenshot. With checked box "Report external ip in PASV mode".
    When FTP server with marked box it's doesn't work.
    When FTP server with unchecked box it does work.
    I've noticed that different and fixed it.
    Very interesting in the reason of that difference.

  • How can ftp service on non-standard port be load balanced using Cisco ACE.

    How can ftp service on non-standard port be load balanced using Cisco ACE.For example ftp service required on tcp 2000 port

    Hi Samarjit,
    you can do this by specifying the port number in the class map that you create . Please find the below mentioend config guide where you can specify the tcp/udp port , range or ports or even the wild card to match the port.

  • Alert emails to a non standard SMTP port

    Is it possible to configure LiveCycle ES 8.2 to send its alert emails to an SMTP server on a non standard port?  In the AdminUI there is a field for the server but not for the port.
    Thanks,

    Hi Jon
    Sorry, I thought we were talking about Task Notifications not Administrator Notifications.
    Changing the port in the Email Notifications process will work for Task Notifications.
    Administrator Notifications use the Java mail default, which is port 25 unless otherwise specified on your system.
    Are you using the JBoss Turnkey?
    if so, you can try this:
    1. Navigate to C:\Adobe\LiveCycle8.2\jboss\server\all\deploy
    2. Locate the properties-service.xml file.
    3. uncomment the following block and set the property as follows:
        <!--
           | Set raw properties file style properties. -->
        <attribute name="Properties">
              smtp.mail.port =<your port #>
        </attribute>
    4. You don't need to restart JBoss.
    The only downside is that this is now the smtp port for that server and any other apps on that server.
    If you can live with that, it's an easy workaround.
