Partial coloring of texts in the awt
Hi,
I'm working on project in which I use a message window (kinda like a chat window).
What I would like to do is display a special kind of messages in a different color so that they stand appart from the normal messages. I tried to play with setforeground but that function changes the whole text in the window instead of just the "special" text. I know quite a few things about the AWT but I fear that I'm still a newbie if it comes to colors and images. Is there anyone who knows a simple solution for this (in my opinion not so difficult) problem?
Any help is appreciated!

PS. I am not able to use swing for this project. So any help should focus on the awt. :(
Indeed not very elegant, however, very inventive :)
Unfortunately the design changes nesecary go very deep for an implementation like that.
But I want to thank you for your effort! you certaintly found something I didn't think of.

Looks like you didn't get a reply on your post, but it is still a problem. Font size is supposedly changeable via "Accessibility" in Settings, but it doesn't work. You can turn on "Zoom".

Can anyone tell me how to change the color of texts inside the indicator box? I have tried to use property node but not really know how it functions.
In fact, I am writing a program for which the number inside indicator on front panel will show red color if the measured value can't reach the requirement. I am using LabView 6.1 Professional
Thank You for your attention!!!!!!Simply use a property node with "NumText.TextColor" and wire the correct color depending on your test result.

SangeethaIf you are using Windows, you do it through the Control Panel tool for customizing your desktop display. If you are using some other system, I don't know. You can't do it from your Java program.

changing the text color of an input field is not possible. However, you can build a workaround:
1. take an expression box, place it exactly over your input field
2. change its text color and take the value of your input field as value being displayed
3. instead of making your input field disabled, make it hidden and show the expression box instead.
Thus, instead of enabling/disabling your input field, switch between expression box/input field to be displayed. I hope it's clear what I mean. If not, don't hesitate to ask again.

Tabular Forms - how to change the color of text when the field is disabled

I have a tabular form and some of it's columns are disabled showing text in grey color...
is there a way to change the color to black and bold the text...?

The column formatting does not work on the input fields. The help on the item says that it generates a span with a style attribute. This would work for a display field, not for an input field.
Css like i've written should be in the style tags, put up in the header section of the page (page -> edit -> header region).
You've already put script tags there, the style tags go there aswell. You shouldn't even need to put your script tags in the header region. Just put your code up in the javascript functions region (without the script tags).
However, i tested in firefox and here color works on an input field, changing the font color. In IE it does not do this. Cross browser implementations and such, not much to do about it here. See http://stackoverflow.com/questions/602070/changing-font-colour-in-textboxes-in-ie-which-are-disabled.
I did notice that you build your form with a bunch of input fields, which you disable through javascript in the footer of the region. Then on submit, you set the disabled to false again for all those fields! If you want those fields to always be submitted to the server, why wouldn't you use the readonly attribute? Readonly fields are always submitted, and can't be edited by the user. Plus, readonly fields CAN be styled however you want! You can get rid of the javascript code in your header then.
Even the javascript in the footer is not necessary. If you just add 'readonly="true"' (without single quotes) to the element attributes of your items (edit column -> column attributes region) = no javascript at all (less maintenance). -

Changing the color of text in the DataGrid cell conditionally
I am using a DataGrid in my application and my requirement is
to change format and style of data value in the DataGridColumn per
below:
If the data value is a negative number
1. change the color of a value to red
2. remove the '-'ive sign
3. include the value between in parenthesis.
I was able to accomplish 2 & 3 in the labelFunction for
the DataGridColumn. But have been struggling to accomplish (1)
within the label function.
Can this be done in the labelFunction? I am using Flex 2.0.1.
Appreciate any help with this.

Does anyone know a way to capture the color coded text from the Reports PLSQL editor so it can be pasted into MS Word? A normal copy and paste does not copy the color and I would like the color coded text as part of the report documentation.

In preferences, I have checked "Quote the text of the original message",and "Increase quote level", both under the "Composing" menu, and I have checked "Color quoted text", under the "Fonts & Colors" menu. However, when replying to a message, both the original message text and my reply text still appear black. I can color my reply text after I input it by choosing "Increase" for "Quote Level" under the Format menu. I assumed that my preference settings were supposed to create this effect automatically. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?

I select to change the text from black to Red (or any other color) and the text just stays black, The color seletor box will show the last select color, but never actually changes the text color in an email. Also in received email, when the sender has indicated their replies to me are in another color, All the text only appears as black. I never had this problem in the past, not sure what has happened. I did restart Thunderbird with add-ons disabled and this did not change the problem.

thanks....Go into outline view. If you can see the outlines of the letterforms, you can't just change the text. If the letterforms are solid black, take the type tool, select the text and type yours.
Anyway you can just select the letters, take the type tool and type new text.
Working with the type tool is a basic. Please see the manual for details -
How do I change the background color of text in Pages quickly?
I know that I can highight the words with my cursor, then press the little "a" in the toolbar, then select the color I want. However, I have to hihglight a ton of separate sentences in documents that have a few hundred pages.
Is there a shortcut for changing the background behind the words to a specific color? Or is there a way to do it with just one click? I don't want to have to carefully select the color I want each time. I just need one color, and I'd like to be able to set it easily.Thanks, didn't even know about the styles drawer.
In summary for others...
Perform the background change on some text, and put the cursor on the text (click the text).
Command+Shift+T to bring up style drawer.
Click and hold the "+" button and click on "Add new Character Style" from selection.
Click on the arrow beside "Include these character attributes."
Deselect all of the attributes except for the "Fill."
Change the name to "Highlight Yellow" or whatever.
Then whenever you click on it in the styles drawer, it will apply the fill. -
What I'm trying to do is make an editable invitation. So I export my file from InDesign to an interactive pdf. I would like to set the editable text in the form field to a specific cmyk color. Is there anyway of exporting specific color swatches into the pdf and then applying them to the text in the form field? I have been searching this topic for a while and am getting really frustrated with the lack of information on this topic. Any help would be great!
I saw this screenshot with cmyk sliders. Where can I access these settings or options? I'm on a PC, not a MAC.

I don't see any options to set to cmyk color sliders...anyone run into this problem and know a solution?Though it has to be said that the Mac colour selector is very confusing. Although you can select in CMYK on the Mac in almost any app, it is converted to RGB by the Mac, and you get RGB anyway.
