Partial import from XML file

Hello,
I need to import some specific nodes from a large XML file, into an Oracle table, containing columns not necessarily labeled identical to the XML nodes.
Can it bee done from within HTMLDB?
Thanks for the help,
Arie.

Arie,
You can certainly upload files with HTML DB, search the forum for file upload. Once you uploaded your XML file, you can parse it and process it however you want using Oracle’s XML DB features. You can post XML DB specific questions here:

  • Adobe not allowing import of XML file captured from Media Express through Black Magic capture card

    I have been going crazy trying to find a way to import the XML files to fix the digitized look Adobe capture gave my footage. Someone help me
    These are not XML from Final Cut. They are files saved from Media Express, a Black magic design program used for Capturing.
    THANK YOU.
    Please email me if you know how to fix this

    THANKS AGAIN!

    Wouldn't it be more appropriate to open the actual media files captured with the program?

  • Importing from XML to Excel - need to know how to append to existing Excel file

    Hello,
    I have several XML files that I will need to import into one Excel spreadsheet. I have been able to figure out how to import an XML file to an Excel file but when I import a second XML file, the contents of the second XML overwrite the Excel spreadsheet.
    I am looking for an option to append. Thanks in advance

    3. Are there any data services provided to do this?
    This for a project use case i also have an requirement to process bulk XML files, suggest me to accomplish this task

    Hi Patrick,
         I am addressing the similar issue. "Getting data from huge XMLs into Hana."
    Using Odata services can we handle huge data (i.e create schema/load into Hana) On-the-fly ?
    In my scenario,
    I get a folder of different complex XML files which are to be loaded into Hana database.
    Then I gotta transform & cleanse the data.
    Can I use oData services to transform and cleanse the data ?
    If so, how can I create oData services dynamically ?
    Any help is highly appreciated.
    Thank you.

    Hi
    If you have paint rpd, then just refer that.. .
    Normally we import xml db by clicking File > Import > From database.
    And select Connection Type as XML
    for URL, click on browse and navigate to the path where your xml database is located... and import...

  • Retrieve data from XML file

    How can I import a XML file into pdf doc and how can I retrieve its data as string, in order to populate a drop down List, without using XML Schema Data Connection.
    Thank you for your time!

    First of all you cannot load an XML file in Designer without Reader Extensions, either using xfa.host.importData or any or the import methods in AcroForm javascript. Also, since the XML objects where not available in 6, you cannot parse an XML file in anything other than version 7 of Reader/Acrobat.
    So, if you do have Reader 7 (Reader-Enabled) or Acrobat 7, you could use the Attachment object to load the XML file and in turn use the XML object to parse and extract the XML data.
    For example, placing the following code on a button will prompt the user to select an XML data file and manually parse it for data.
    if (app.viewerVersion >= 7)
    event.target.importDataObject("XMLData");
    var oData = event.target.getDataObjectContents("XMLData");
    var sData = util.stringFromStream(oData);
    var oXML = XMLData.parse(sData, true);
    event.target.removeDataObject("XMLData");
    // Populate Fields
    TextField3.rawValue = oXML.MyField1.value;
    TextField4.rawValue = oXML.MyField3.value;
    TextField1.rawValue = oXML.MyField2.value;
    else {
    app.alert("Acrobat 7.0 or later is required");
    My external XML file is:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <MyProperties>
    <MyField1>A</MyField1>
    <MyField2>B</MyField2>
    <MyField3>C</MyField3>
    </MyProperties>
    Once the data is parsed, you can access it through the same hierarchy as Designer. It actually generates an XFAObject to represent each data node within the XML Document.
    The other thing to note is that you cannot load data automatically from an init or calc event. You MUST have some user interaction (i.e. on the click event of a button)

  • What XML encoding do I use to get APEX to import an XML file?

    Trying to import an XML file generated from SQL Developer into a table using APEX Import utility.
    I'm getting the error: ORA-19200: Invalid column specification
    All I've done is exported the EMP table from SQL Developer (v. 1.5.5) into an XML file and then tried to load into an empty EMP table in the database (10.2.0.2) using APEX and the Data Load Utility.
    I've tried creating the XML file using different encodings out of SQL Developer but so far an still getting the above error.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    -gary

    Hi Scott
    First of all I was successful in exporting and re-importing the EMP table to and from APEX.
    When I exported the EMP table in XML format using SQL Developer, the resulting XML looked very different from the same data exported from APEX. My APEX exported XML looked just like yours. Here are the first 3 rows of the XML file exported from SQL Developer. I'm NOT an XML person so I can't judge whether or not this is valid XML but I can tell you that it doesn't import into an empty EMP table through APEX. I can control the encoding type in SQL Developer and have tried several different flavors.
    <?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8' ?>

  • Error importing from BIAR file (BO XI 3.0)

    Dear BO community,
    I am using the BIAR tool for backup purposes. For my backup, I use a properties file as input which looks like the one shown below:
    action=exportXML
    exportBiarLocation=C:/Temp/BOBackup.biar
    userName=Administrator
    password=XXX
    CMS=XXX:6400
    authentication=secEnterprise

    exportQuery1=select * from ci_infoobjects
    exportQuery2=select * from ci_systemobjects
    exportQuery3=select * from ci_appobjects
    exportQueriesTotal=3
    The file creation seems to work without any problems. A file is created. However, when importing the file into another CMS, I am getting the following error:
    Failed to open the BIAR file. Reason: com.businessobjects.sdk.biar.om.internal.iw.ObjectManagerIWException:Input/Output exception occurred: 'Couldn't find entry 'BusinessObjects.xml'.
    I have opened the BIAR file using a ZIP program and checked that there is no "businessobjects.xml" file in there. When creating BIARs using only a single query, this file exists and the import is no problem.
    Does anyone have an idea what's happening and can help me?
    Thank you and best regards!

  • Can't import an xml file

    Hi,
    I am using Captivate 5.5 on Windows. I have an .swf file which needs to have an xml file with it in order for it to behave the way in which it was intended. The developer has said that the two files need to be included in the same folder.
    I have no problem importing the swf file however I can't import the xml file which is called flashParams.xml. I have been editing the xml file in windows notepad and it is working perfectly outside Captivate. However when i try to import the xml, I get the message 'Cannot import XML'. I have been using File/Import/from xml to get the file loaded but no luck. I have also tried dragging it into the library but no luck here either.
    Can anyone suggest what I might be doing wrong and how they would approach what surely must be a very simple task.
    Thanks,
    Nick

    Hi Rod,
    Thanks for the reply.
    I think what I could do is to launch the swf by clicking on a link in the Captivate session to an external url (it will be hosted on Moodle). The one problem I have is that when I do this in Captivate, the slide refuses to pause and moves onto the next slide. What I would like is for the user to be able to click on the link for the url and for the slide to pause until the user clicks on a next button to go to the next slide.

  • Read data from xml files and  populate internal table

    Hi.
    How to read data from xml files into internal tables?
    Can u tell me the classes and methods to read xml data..
    Can u  explain it with a sample program...

    <pre>DATA itab_accontextdir TYPE TABLE OF ACCONTEXTDIR.
    DATA struct_accontextdir LIKE LINE OF itab_accontextdir.
    DATA l_o_error TYPE REF TO cx_root.
    DATA: filename type string ,
                 xmldata type xstring .
    DATA: mr      TYPE REF TO if_mr_api.
    mr = cl_mime_repository_api=>get_api( ).
    mr->get( EXPORTING  i_url     = 'SAP/PUBLIC/BC/xml_files_accontext/xml_accontextdir.xml'
                  IMPORTING  e_content = xmldata ).
    WRITE xmldata.
    TRY.
    CALL TRANSFORMATION id
          SOURCE XML xmldata
          RESULT shiva = itab_accontextdir.
      CATCH cx_root INTO l_o_error.
    ENDTRY.
    LOOP AT itab_accontextdir INTO struct_accontextdir.
        WRITE: / struct_accontextdir-context_id,
               struct_accontextdir-context_name,
               struct_accontextdir-context_type.
        NEW-LINE.
        ENDLOOP.</pre>
    <br/>
    Description:
    In the above code snippet I am storing the data in an xml file(you know xml is used to store and transport data ) called 'xml_accontextdir.xml' that is uploaded into the MIME repository at path 'SAP/PUBLIC/BC/xml_files_accontext/xml_accontextdir.xml'.
    The below API is used to read a file in MIME repo and convert it into a string that is stored in ' xmldata'. (This is just a raw data that is got by appending the each line of  xml file).
    mr = cl_mime_repository_api=>get_api( ).
    mr->get( EXPORTING  i_url     = 'SAP/PUBLIC/BC/xml_files_accontext/xml_accontextdir.xml'
                  IMPORTING  e_content = xmldata ).
        Once the 'xmldata' string is available we use the tranformation to parse the xml string that we have got from the above API and convert it into the internal table.
    <pre>TRY.
    CALL TRANSFORMATION id
          SOURCE XML xmldata
          RESULT shiva = itab_accontextdir.
      CATCH cx_root INTO l_o_error.
    ENDTRY.</pre>
    Here the trasnsformation 'id ' is used to conververt the source xml 'xmldata' to resulting internal table itab_accontextdir, that have same structure as our xml file 'xml_accontextdir.xml'.  In the RESULT root of the xml file has to be specified. (In my the root is 'shiva').
    Things to be taken care:
    One of the major problem that occurs when reading the xml file is 'format not compatible with the internal table' that you are reading into internal table.  Iin order to get rid of this issue use one more tranformation to convert the data from the internal table into the xml file.
    <pre>TRY.
          CALL TRANSFORMATION id
            SOURCE shiv = t_internal_tab
            RESULT XML xml.
        CATCH cx_root INTO l_o_error.
      ENDTRY.
      WRITE xml.
      NEW-LINE.</pre>
    <br/>
    This is the same transformation that we used above but the differnce is that the SOURCE and RESULT parameters are changed the source is now the internal table and result is *xml *string. Use xml browser that is available with the ABAP workbench to read the xml string displayed with proper indentation. In this way we get the format of xml file to be used that is compatable with the given internal table.
    Thank you, Hope this will help you!!!

  • Import Large XML File to Table

    I have a large (819MB) XML file I'm trying to import into a table in the format:

    </ROW>
    <ROW>
    <column_name>value</column_name>
    </ROW>
    </ROW_SET>
    I've tried importing it with xmlsequence(...).extract(...) and ran into the number of nodes exceed maximum error.
    I've tried importing it with XMLTable(... passing XMLTYPE(bfilename('DIR_OBJ','large_819mb_file.xml'), nls_charset_id('UTF8'))) and I gave up after it ran for 15+ hours ( COLLECTION ITERATOR PICKLER FETCH issue ).
    I've tried importing it with:
    insCtx := DBMS_XMLStore.newContext('schemaname.tablename');
    DBMS_XMLStore.clearUpdateColumnList(insCtx);
    DBMS_XMLStore.setUpdateColumn(insCtx,'column1name');
    DBMS_XMLStore.setUpdateColumn(insCtx,'columnNname');
    ROWS := DBMS_XMLStore.insertXML(insCtx, XMLTYPE(bfilename('DIR_OBJ','large_819mb_file.xml'), nls_charset_id('UTF8')));
    and ran into ORA-04030: out of process memory when trying to allocate 1032 bytes (qmxlu subheap,qmemNextBuf:alloc).
    All I need to do is read the XML file and move the data into a matching table in a reasonable time. Once I have the data in the database, I no longer need the XML file.
    What would be the best way to import large XML files?

    SELECT ...
      FROM HOLD_XML HX
           XMLTable(...
              PASSING HX.xml_col ...)How it differs from your approach.
    By using the HOLDS_XML table with SECUREFILE BINARY XML storage (which became the default in 11.2.0.2) we are providing a place for Oracle to store a parsed version of the XML. This allows the XML to be stored on disk instead of in memory. Oracle can then access the needed pieces of XML from disk by streaming them instead of holding the whole XML in memory and parsing it repeatedly to find the information needed. That is what COLLECTION ITERATOR PICKLER FETCH means. A lot of memory work. You can search on that term to learn more about it if needed.
    The XMTable approach then simply reads this XML from disk and should be able to parse the XML with no issue. You have the option of adding indexes to the XML, but since you are simply reading it all one time and tossing it, there is no advantage to indexes (most likely)
