Pass a form parameter to the report stored procedure

<CFSET myVar= "1">
<cfquery name = "mydata" datasource = "myDSN">

   <cfreport format = "PDF" template= "MyReport.cfr"
    query = "#mydata#">

I have above code to generate the report using stored procedure and pass parameter.
I have to use CFSET to set the value of MyVar.
I would like to know how I can use user input value in  my text control on the form.
Your help and information is great appreciated,

  • Resultset of main report passed as parameter to child report stored proc

    Post Author: chicagolad
    CA Forum: Data Connectivity and SQL
    I seem to be in a bind with this issue. I have a main report and sub report. The main report takes in a comma seperated value as a parameter to the stored procedure. The result set of which is used to group 20 sub reports. These subreports use a different stored procedure to which I need to send the group value which is a part of the result set table I get for the main report. Come what may, I am not able to link the main report with the sub report.
    To repeat the question, how do i pass the a result column of the main report as parameter to the sub report stored procedure? Any insight will be much appreciated.
    TIA
    chicagolad

    Raghavendra,
        It seems that no matter what I do, using the parameter ?TagNumber as the item to link from in the main report (Subreport Links) will not give any results no matter which item I link to in the subreport, but if I use the specific data item that the parameter represents, then any of the choices in the lower left "subreport parameter field to use" will work.  So I can simply use the specific data item and everything works fine. It's strange, as last week using the parameter of the main report worked, but as I have a working solution I don't have to resolve that.  (There was data for the parameter value,as I printed the parameter value in the report and the selected value was shown.).
       This is now resolved.  Thanks for your help.

  • Passing multi value parameter to the Drill through report

    Hi
    I have two reports say Report A and Report B.
    Both reports using same parameters.
    I am Navigating from Report A to Report B using Jump to Report option.
    Now when I pass multiple parameter to the Report B it only displays first parameter results.
    In report B I have parameter multi value select to true.
    I would like to know if its possible or not to pass multi value parameter in drill through report?
    I would appreciate if someone can help me here.
    Regards
    Amit

    Yes you can pass multi value parameters to a drill through report.
    It works similar to multi value parameters for subreports, which is discussed in detail in this thread: http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=163803&SiteID=1

  • Showing description of a parameter in the report

    Hi all,
    I have a requirement where I need to show the description of a parameter in the report.
    For eg:
    CODE              DES
    AF          Associated Feature
    BG          Background
    BGA          Background Ambient
    BCA          Bkgrd Comm Ambient
    BC          Bridge/Cue
    CJ          Combination M Jingle
    CS          Combination M Promo
    CT          Combination M Theme  u2026 and so on.
    The parameter is on the DB field u2018CODEu2019. Here when the user selects the parameter value u2018AFu2019 the report should show the description u2018Associated Featureu2019 in the Report Header.
    I am using stored procedures in the report and lookups(coming from a package) for the drop down values of parameters.
    I thought of creating arrays in the formula editor but I could not find a way to pass values to an array variable from a field. (I have to enter all the values in array manually to create it. But we have approx 50 reports which have CODES of more than 40. So itu2019ll be not feasible).
    Is there any way to achieve this requirement?
    Thanks for your help in advance.

    Try to use add command and write the query like this
    select code,description from table where code={?Parameter}
    Now link this command with your stored peocedure using left outer join and place the field in the report header to get the description.

  • Passing database command parameter to sub-report

    I'm trying to pass a runtime parameter from a main report to a database command parameter in a sub-report, and having some trouble.
    My main report has parameter fields (Vendor, Manufacturer, etc) that the user selects at runtime - the result set includes Item Code - that part is working fine.  Where I'm having trouble is with linking to the sub-report.  My sub-report has a stored command that takes a parameter (ItemCode) and counts the number of times it's shown up on an invoice.  When I created the command, it asked for a value for the parameter, and won't accept a blank entry.  Now, whenever I try to run the main report, it asks for the ItemCode parameter for the sub-report - which kind of defeats the purpose.  I've tried linking from ?Pm-OITM.ItemCode in the main report, but the Subreport Links window doesn't show the Command parameter to link to.
    How do I take a field from the main report and pass it to a sub-report to be used as a parameter in a stored database command?
    I'm running CR 2008, and SAP B1 2007 PL 42 on MS SQL 2005, and I'm still pretty new at CR, so details help.
    Thanks.

    Go to change subreport links and add Item Code from main report and then you can see the sureport stored procedure parameter in the Subreport parameters list, select the parameter and do not select any field from subreport.
    You will be able to see the stored procedure parameter in the list only when the Item Code and the parameter are of same data type.

  • I want to create stored procedure which will give output rows from "values that are passed as one parameter (comma seperated) to store procedure".

    Hello,
    I want to create stored procedure which will give output rows from "values that are passed as one parameter (comma seperated) to store procedure".
    Suppose ,
    Parameter value : person 1,person2,person3
    table structure :
    Project Name | officers 1 | officers 2
    here, officers 1 or officers 2 may contain names of multiple people.
    expected OUTPUT : distinct list(rows) of projects where person 1 or person 2 or person 3 is either officer1 or officer 2.
    please explain or provide solution in detail
    - Thanks

    Hi Visakh,
    Thanks for reply.
    But the solution you provided giving me right output only if officer 1 or officer 2 contains single value , not with comma seperated value.
    Your solution is working fine for following scenario :
    Project
    Officers 1
    Officers 2
    p1
    of11
    off21
    p2
    of12
    off22
    with parameter : of11,off22 : it will give expected output
    And its not working in case of :
    Project
    Officers 1
    Officers 2
    p1
    of11,of12
    off21,off23
    p2
    of12,of13
    off22,off24
    with parameter : of11,off22 : it will not give any row in output
    I need patten matching not exact match :)
    ok
    if thats the case use this modified logic
    CREATE PROC GetProjectDetails
    @PersonList varchar(5000)
    AS
    SELECT p.*
    FROM ProjectTable p
    INNER JOIN dbo.ParseValues(@PersonList,',')f
    ON ',' + p.[officers 1] + ',' LIKE '%,' + f.val + ',%'
    OR ',' + p.[officers 2] + ',' LIKE '%,' + f.val + ',%'
    GO
    Keep in mind that what you've done is a wrong design approach
    You should not be storing multiples values like this as comma separated list in a single column. Learn about normalization . This is in violation of 1st Normal Form

  • How to pass in a parameter into a report viewer on a jsp - and hidden

    Hi, I've built a php application and am using the java environment to enable the crystal report/viewer.  The developer was looking how to pass in a parameter into a report viewer on a jsp. Ultimately the end product we need is to get an HTML report viewer loading a report file with hidden parameters so to not expose other customer data (it's a shared database for multiple customers) preferably loaded from php using maybe the php java bridge. Would anyone happen to have any sample code or any guidance?
    <%@ page contentType="text/html; charset=UTF-8"
       pageEncoding="ISO-8859-1"%>
    <%@ taglib uri="/crystal-tags-reportviewer.tld" prefix="crviewer"%>
    <%
    // just a test to grab rpt name from GET
    String rptFile = "report_files/" + request.getParameter("rpt");
    %>
    <crviewer:viewer reportSourceType="reportingComponent" viewerName=""
    isOwnPage="true">
       <crviewer:report reportName="<%= rptFile %>" />
    </crviewer:viewer>
    Many thanks in advance!
    Mark

    I am not aware of any html tags you can pass to the viewer for parameter values.  Normally, you would load the report in code and then use the SDK with the report object to pass parameter values.

  • Display the description of a parameter in the report

    Hi Guru:
    I have a parameter, for each value to be selected, there is a description.
    Now my question is, how to display the description of the value in the report?
    I tried to put the parameter into the report, but it display the value, not the description.
    For example, I have a parameter, for company code, each company code will have a description in the value list of the parameter, after the user pick 1000, I want to put the name of company code 1000 into the report.
    Thanks.
    Eric

    The only way I have found to do this without hard-coding a translation table is to return the value in your dataset.  In your case, cross join your results to
    select company_name from company where company_code = {?comp parm}
    (or something similar...)

  • Subreport using the same Stored Procedure

    I have a main report and a subreport that uses the same stored procedure. The stored procedure has 12 parameters and what I want to avoid is the user having to enter the same parameter values twice. When I created the subreport I put in the parameters + one field, the employee id field so that I could just test it on one employee.
    After I entered the subreport into the main report, when I got to refresh the data, it's asking for params for BOTH reports. Is there any way to get around this? Because of the way the stored procedure returns the data, I had to create a subreport instead of just fitting it into one of the footers. I've looked at the subreport link and added the employee id as the key. When I ran it the first time, it returned the wrong date range on the sub.
    Help! this thing is Way passed due!!

    Right click on the sub report and choose change sub report links
    Top left pane contains your main report parameters use > to add
    In the bottom left corner of that dialog then scroll down until you see the corresponding sub report parameter
    Repeat for each parameter
    This should then take the main report params and pass into the sub report

  • Passing Variable Number of Parameters to Cobol Stored Procedure

    Hi. I have a web front end that needs to access several different tables via Cobol stored procedures. It seems simple enough to call the stored procedures straight away (DAO Pattern perhaps?) but my boss is insistent on having an intermediate Cobol program that decides which table to access. I think he at a bigger picture than I can see.
    The problem lies in the number of parameters that need to be passed to the stored procedures; some need 3, others needs 5, a few need 4. The only two solutions that I can think of are to pass EVERYTHING (we're talking 50 parameters or so) to the intermediate stored procedure and then pulling only what is needed from that data set to access the desired table. Solution number two involves passing everything to a temp table and then pulling what is needed from it. The former solution seems a little cleaner but still involves passing a lot of parameters. If Cobol could handle some sort of dynamic memory allocation (Vector) there seems to be a possible solution there. Though, as far as I know, that isn't possible.
    Any ideas are much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Chris

    Hi Saurabh,
    The method in which stored procedures are called on form submit is something as follows.
    Let us take your scenario of a form which has multiple checkboxes and a submit button. On clicking the submit button, this form data is submitted using either get or post. The form's submit action invokes a procedure.
    The HTML form code will look something like this..
    htp.formOpen( curl => 'URL /myProcedure',
    cmethod => 'post' );
    htp.formCheckbox( cname => 'myCheckbox'
    cvalue => 'A');
    htp.formCheckbox( cname => 'myCheckbox'
    cvalue => 'B');
    htp.formCheckbox( cname => 'myCheckbox'
    cvalue => 'C');
    htp.formSubmit( cname => 'myButton',
    cvalue => 'OK');
    Now, whenever the submit button is clicked, all these form values are passed to our stored procedure 'myProcedure'.
    "myProcedure" looks something like this.
    procedure myProcedure
    myCheckbox IN sys.owa_util.vc_arr,
    myButton IN VARCHAR2
    is
    begin
    end myProcedure;
    The point to be noted here is that the name of the variable being passed in the procedure is the same as the name of the HTML element being created in the HTML form. So, there is a direct mapping between the elements in the HTML form and the procedure parameters.
    Another noteworthy point is that since you have multiple checkboxes in your HTML form, it is impractical to name all the checkboxes differently and then pass those many parameters to your procedure (Imagine a scenario where there are a hundred check-boxes in an HTML form!). So portal allows you to give the same name (cname) to all the checkboxes in your HTML form, and if multiple checkboxes are checked, it will return all the checkbox values in an array (Note the usage of "myCheckbox IN sys.owa_util.vc_arr" in myProcedure).
    You can check out this link for more information.

  • Forms Data-Block based on stored procedures - REF CURSOR feature NOT FUNCTIONING

    This topic is related to another topic in this forum titled "FORMS HOW TO SET QUERY SOURCE ARGUMENTS??" I posted my message there as well. I am posting as a NEW TOPIC so that it catches the attention of Oracle Support.
    I built a data form based on a stored procedure and REF CURSOR IN OUT parameter.
    My procedure takes a IN parameter to fill in the criteria for the OPEN <cursor_variable> select ... where ... statement.
    In the Value setting of the Query source Arguments , I set the VALUE to ":BLOCK_NAME.ITEM_NAME" at design time to supply the input value to the procedure. this works to the extent of making available the form item value to the stored procedure parameter. I verified this by doing an insert into some debug table , of the incoming parameter value inside my stored procedure.
    The cursor gets opened properly into the REF cursor variable. I verified this by fetching a record into a local variable and inserting the value into a debug table again in the stored procedure.
    (I took care to close and re-open the REF cursor variable again - so that the front-end can continue to fetch it from the first record. )
    ***** PROBLEM **************
    But the front end forms runtime is giving me a FRM-40301 - query returned no records even though the REF cursor is returned properly opened.
    Did anybody else face the same problem ??
    Please post what you found.
    Thanks,
    Shankaran

    This topic is discussed at length in another thread "How Set Value For Query DataSource Arguments?"
    But I am posting the findings here as well.
    THIS TOPIC IS CLOSED.
    My Bad. The problem Cause : I did not include all columns in the
    cursor rowtype in the Data-block. In the wizard for the data block , I selected ONLY the columns that I needed. But I was doing a Select * from <my_table> in my open cursor <Cursor-Variable> .... The <Cursor Variable>
    itself was declared <my_table>%rowtype
    FIX : The Data Block structure (columns included as items) should match the cursor record Structure. One may or may not
    display all the columns in the LAYOUT though.
    But I don't understand why it gives such a misleading message like FRM-40301 Query retrieved no records. Oracle Team fix it.
    Hope this helps people who face the same problem.
    Thanks,

  • Pass a jdbc resultset in to a Stored Procedure

    Any answer to the following question would be highly appreciated:
    How can we pass a jdbc resultset in to a Stored Procedure?
    Thanks.

    You could use Oracle's ANYDATASET type or declare schema TYPEs to support passing the data in a known structure. See "Working with Oracle Collections" in the "JDBC Developer's Guide and Reference" on technet.

    Hi,
          Anybody can help me, how to decrypt the encrypted stored procedure in SQL server.?

    They are not encrypted. They are obfuscated. ApexSQL can show you the source code with the wink of an eye.
    But before you do that - if this is a vendor application, check your license agreement.
