Pass array as a parameter

I am trying to make a method that compare and return the smallest number in the array.But it doesn't work.
Thanks!

  • Is possible to pass array/list as parameter in TopLink StoredProcedureCall?

    Hi, We need to pass an array/List/Vector of values (each value is a 10 character string) into TopLink's StoredProcedureCall. The maximum number of elements on the list is 3,000 (3,000 * 10 = 30,000 characters).
    This exposed two questions:
    1. Is it possible to pass a Vector as a parameter in TopLink's StoredProcedureCall, such as
    StoredProcedureCall call = new StoredProcedureCall();
    call.setProcedureName("STORED_PROCEDURE_NAME");
    call.addNamedArgument("PERSON_CODE");
    Vector strVect = new Vector(3000);
    strVect.add(“ab-gthhjko”);
    strVect.add(“cd-gthhjko”);
    strVect.add(“ef-gthhjko”);
    Vector parameters = new Vector();
    parameters.addElement(strVect);
    session.executeQuery(query,parameters);
    2. If the answer on previous question is yes:
    - How this parameter has to be defined in Oracle’s Stored Procedure?
    - What is the maximum number of elements/bytes that can be passed into the vector?
    The best way that we have found so far was to use single string as a parameter. The individual values would be delimited by comma, such as "ab-gthhjko,cd-gthhjko,ef-gthhjko..."
    However, in this case concern is the size that can be 3,000 * 11 = 33, 000 characters. The maximum size of VARCHAR2 is 4000, so we would need to break calls in chunks (max 9 chunks).
    Is there any other/more optimal way to do this?
    Thanks for your help!
    Zoran

    Hello,
    No, you cannot currently pass a vector of objects as a parameter to a stored procedure. JDBC will not take a vector as an argument unless you want it to serialize it (ie a blob) .
    The Oracle database though does have support for struct types and varray types. So you could define a stored procedure to take a VARRAY of strings/varchar, and use that stored procedure through TopLink. For instance:
    StoredProcedureCall call = new StoredProcedureCall();
    call.setProcedureName("STORED_PROCEDURE_NAME");
    call.addNamedArgument("PERSON_CODE");
    oracle.sql.ArrayDescriptor descriptor = new oracle.sql.ArrayDescriptor("ARRAYTYPE_NAME", dbconnection);
    oracle.sql.ARRAY dbarray = new oracle.sql.ARRAY(descriptor, dbconnection, dataArray);
    Vector parameters = new Vector();
    parameters.addElement(dbarray);
    session.executeQuery(query,parameters);This will work for any values as long as you are not going to pass in null as a value as the driver can determine the type from the object.
    dataArray is an Object array consisting of your String objects.
    For output or inoutput parameters you need to set the type and typename as well:
      sqlcall.addUnamedInOutputArgument("PERSON_CODE", "PERSON_CODE", Types.ARRAY, "ARRAYTYPE_NAME"); which will take a VARRAY and return a VARRAY type object.
    The next major release of TopLink will support taking in a vector of strings and performing the conversion to a VARRAY for you, as well as returning a vector instead of a VARRAY for out arguments.
    Check out thread
    Using VARRAYs as parameters to a Stored Procedure
    showing an example on how to get the conection to create the varray, as well as
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/sample_code/tech/java/codesnippet/jdbc/varray/index.html on using Varrays in Oracle, though I'm sure the database docs might have more information.

    Chris

  • Pass array variable as parameter in powershell command.

    Hello,
    could somebody help me with my script ? I have problem to define parameters inside one cmdlet.
    Here is my code:
    $Disks = gc c:\temp\a.txt
    for ($l = 0; $l -lt $Disks.length; $l += 4) {
    command diskversion -p diskName=$Disks[$l], siteName=$Disks[$l+1], storeName=$Disks[$l+2] -f diskFileName, createDate, deviceCount  }
    I tried to define parameters as $param = @("diskName="$Disks[$l], "siteName="$Disks[$l+1], "storeName="$Disks[$l+2])
    command diskversion -p $param -f diskFileName, createDate, deviceCount)
    but I still get an error...
    Can you help me with this ?
    Thank you.

  • How can i pass array as argument in magento api method calling using sudzc API in iphone Native APP

    0down votefavorite
    I am implementing magento standard api method in native iphone app. I use webservice generated by sudzc. To call method I use:
    [service call:self action:@selector(callHandler:) sessionId:@" " resourcePath:@" " args:@""];
    When I used methods e.g. cart.info or product.info in which I have to pass one parameter; it gives valid response. But when I used method e.g. cart_product.add in which I have to pass an argument as value of array it gives error

    I have tested in SOAP UI also. There also it gives me same error. But same method works in PHP file. Even I tried by creating same soap request which I created using JavaScript but still it doesn't work.
    Can anyone help me to pass array as a parameter using sudzc api to call magento web services?

    How can I pass an empty array to a parameter of type PLSQLAssociativeArray in VB? I defined the parameter like this
    Dim myArray() as String = new String() {}
    Dim myPara as new Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleCollectionType.PLSQLAssociativeArray

    myPara.Value = myArray

    I have tried to give it the DBNull.Value, but it doesn't work either.
    Note: everything works fine as long as myArray has some item in there. I just wonder how I can make it works in case I have nothing.

    Thanks in advance!

    Greetings
    I may not have an answer for you, but i am in the same boat! I am trying to pass an array to store in the database. I have 2 out of 8 columns that need to be stored as arrays. Everything saves EXEPT for the 2 arrays in question. I am using BEEHIVE with my web app. The strange thing is that i do not receive any syntax errors or runtime codes. I am still searching for an answer. If i find anything out, i will let you know.

  • Passing array of long as Web Service parameter

    Hello,
    Is it possible in apex pass array as paramater ? I have method with one paramater Long[]: Numbers. Any idea, plsease.
    Thank you.

    This might be helpful. You can create an application process (Shared Component) and call it while passing arrays.
    Passing an array with htmldb_get
    It isn't specifically about longs but, you should be able to move from their string to their numeric representations.

  • How to pass array into xslt from java

    i have a xslt in which i am passing some parameter from java there is one parameter which is a array in java which i need to pass becouse array length is not defined so that xslt will work dynakically according to the parameter.
    right now i am passing parameter but not able to send the array parameter that's why my code is not fully dynamic
    please give suggestion.
    anagh

    it is not possible to pass array by using XSLT, you can wirite all values into a String with certain delim symbol, pass this string, then use xsl.substring() to get different values.

  • Call stored procedure in JDBC passing Array parameters

    Hi all,
    Im trying to call an Oracle Stored Procedure with JDBC. The problem is
    that my parameter is an Array (PL/SQL Type is "Table Of").
    How can i call this procedure by passing right Java parameters to
    the Callable statement ??
    In the Documentation, all samples don't work ! it's possible to
    call a procedure that return Array Type but when we need to pass an Array as
    a parameter we have a DataType exception.
    Any idea ?
    thanx in advance
    Sam.

    Hi Sam,
    I don't have an answer to your question, just some suggestions as to
    where else you may find help.
    Do you know about the "Ask Tom" website:
    http://asktom.oracle.com
    Also, you may find something in the comp.databases.oracle.* newsgroups:
    http://groups.google.com
    I found this article there -- but it's not exactly what you're looking
    for:
    http://groups.google.com/groups?q=array+group:comp.databases.oracle.server+author:Thomas+author:Kyte&hl=iw&as_qdr=w&selm=a9sg06027kf%40drn.newsguy.com&rnum=1

  • ORA-00932 when trying to pass ARRAY from Java SP to PL/SQL

    Hi all
    I am trying to pass ARRAYs back and forth between PL/SQL and Java stored procedures. But I keep getting:
    ORA-00932: inconsistent datatypes: expected a return value that is an instance of a user defined Java class convertible to an Oracle type got an object that could not be converted
    Here's my PL/SQL:
    create or replace type CONTENTP.sentences_array as VARRAY(1000) of CLOB
    -- I've also tried .. as TABLE of CLOB and varray/table of VARCHAR2
    declare
    proc_clob CLOB;
    arr SENTENCES_ARRAY;
    begin
    SELECT document_body
    into proc_clob
    from documents
    where document_id = 618784;
    arr := processdocument.sentencesplit (proc_clob);
    end;
    PROCESSDOCUMENT package definition:
    CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE CONTENTP.PROCESSDOCUMENT AS
    FUNCTION sentenceSplit(Param1 CLOB)
    return SENTENCES_ARRAY
    AS
    LANGUAGE java
    NAME 'com.contentp.documents.ProcessDocument.sentenceSplit(oracle.sql.CLOB) return oracle.sql.ARRAY';
    FUNCTION removeHTML(Param1 CLOB)
    return CLOB
    AS
    LANGUAGE java
    NAME 'com.contentp.documents.ProcessDocument.removeHTML(oracle.sql.CLOB) return oracle.sql.CLOB';
    end;
    Java sentenceSplit code:
    public static oracle.sql.ARRAY sentenceSplit ( CLOB text) throws IOException, SQLException
    Connection conn = new OracleDriver().defaultConnection();
    String[] arrSentences = sent.getsentences ( CLOBtoString (text) );
    ArrayDescriptor arrayDesc =
    ArrayDescriptor.createDescriptor ("SENTENCES_ARRAY", conn);
    ARRAY ARRSentences = new ARRAY (arrayDesc, conn, arrSentences);
    return ARRSentences;
    I have confirmed that the String[] arrSentences contains a valid string array. So the problem seems to be the creation and passing of ARRSentences.
    I have looked at pages and pages of documents and example code, and can't see anything wrong with my declaration of ARRSentences. I'm at a loss to explain what's wrong.
    Thanks in advance - any help is much appreciated!

    I am trying to do something similar but seems like getting stuck at registerOutParameter for this.
    Type definition:
    CREATE OR REPLACE

         connection = new OracleDriver ().defaultConnection();
         connection.setAutoCommit(false);
    ArrayDescriptor adString = ArrayDescriptor.createDescriptor("VARCHARARRAY", connection);
    String[] result = new String [2];
    result[0] = "Foo";
    result[1] = "Foo1";
    array = new ARRAY (adString, connection, result);
    connection.commit ();
    return array;
    } catch (SQLException sqlexp) {
    try {
    connection.rollback();
    } catch (SQLException exp) {
    return array;
    Oracle Stored Function:
    function FETCH_TRADE_DYN_DATA (AREA_CDS IN VARCHARARRAY, SERVICE_CDS IN VARCHARARRAY,VV_CDS IN VARCHARARRAY) return VARCHARARRAY AS LANGUAGE JAVA NAME 'com.apl.ccam.oracle.js.dalc.TDynAllocation.fetchData (oracle.sql.ARRAY, oracle.sql.ARRAY, oracle.sql.ARRAY) return oracle.sql.ARRAY';
    Java Code calling Oracle Stored Procedure:
    ocs = (OracleCallableStatement) oraconn.prepareCall(queryBuf.toString());
                   ArrayDescriptor adString = ArrayDescriptor.createDescriptor("VARCHARARRAY", oraconn);
                   String[] originAreaCds = sTDynAllocationVO.getGeogAreaCds();
                   ARRAY areaCdArray = new ARRAY (adString, oraconn, originAreaCds);
                   ocs.registerOutParameter(1, OracleTypes.ARRAY);
                   ocs.setArray (2, areaCdArray);
                   String[] serviceCds = sTDynAllocationVO.getServiceCds();
                   ARRAY serviceCdsArray = new ARRAY (adString, oraconn, serviceCds );
                   ocs.setArray (3, serviceCdsArray);
                   String[] vvpcs = sTDynAllocationVO.getVesselVoyagePortCdCallNbrs();
                   ARRAY vvpcsArray = new ARRAY (adString, oraconn, vvpcs);
                   ocs.setArray (4, vvpcsArray);
    ocs.execute();
    ARRAY results = ocs.getARRAY(1);
    Error I get:
    Parameter Type Conflict: sqlType=2003

  • Pass array to oracle stored procedure

    I have such a problem: I have to pass array to stored procedure, so I declare type:
    create type tNumberArray as table of number
    and create procedure:
    create or replace procedure proc_1 (in_param in tNumberArray) as
    .... BODY OF PROCEDURE ...
    when I call this procedure from C# like this:
    int []pParam = new int[3] {1,2,3};
    OracleCommand cmd = new OracleCommand("proc_1", dbConn);
    cmd.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure;
    OracleParameter param14 = new OracleParameter("param", OracleDbType.Decimal);
    param14.Value = pParam;
    param14.CollectionType = OracleCollectionType.PLSQLAssociativeArray;
    param14.Size = 3;
    param14.Direction = ParameterDirection.Input;
    cmd.Parameters.Add(param14);
    cmd.ExecuteNonQuery();
    an error occures. It say that there invalid number or type of parameters.
    But when I declare both type and procedure in a package everything goes fine.
    What is the matter? Did anybody have the same problem?

    Not I got next problem:
    when I cannot pass parameter to stored procedure and get array fro it. In other words returning array from procedure and passing some input parameters to it does not word!
    Does anybody know why it happens?

  • Pass temporary table as parameter to a procedure from Java

    Hi,
    I have a PL/SQL procedure that has as input parameter a temporary table. For calling this procedure from PL/SQL there is no problem: I declare a variable having the type temporary table%ROWTYPE, I fill the table with data and then call the procedure. Now I have to call this procedure form Java and I do not know how can I declare a variable of type temporary table, fill it with data and then pass it to the procedure. I have seen and implemented passing arrays of strings or numbers to stored procedures but I have no clue how can I pass the temporary table. Anyone any clues?
    Thank you,
    Florin

    Hi Avi,
    the table is defined like this:
    CREATE GLOBAL TEMPORARY TABLE ticket_api (
    ticket VARCHAR2(16),
    party_id NUMBER,
    date_from DATE,
    date_to DATE )
    ON COMMIT PRESERVE ROWS;
    there is defined a type like this:
    TYPE ticket_tabletype IS
    TABLE OF ticket_api%ROWTYPE;
    the procedure definition is like this:
    PROCEDURE get_ticket_data (
    p_tickets IN ticket_tabletype ,
    x_action_plan OUT NOCOPY action_plan_tabletype );
    the action_plan_tabletype is defined like this:
    TYPE action_plan_tabletype IS
    TABLE OF action_plan_cursor%ROWTYPE;
    When calling the procedure from PL/SQL I use the following code:
    DECLARE
    inTickets ticket_tabletype := ticket_tabletype ();
    outActionPlan action_plan_tabletype;
    BEGIN
    inTickets.EXTEND;
    inTickets(1).ticket := 'ABCDEFG';
    inTickets(1).party_id := 123456789;
    inTickets(1).date_from := TO_DATE('01-JAN-05', 'DD-MON-YY');
    inTickets(1).date_to := SYSDATE;
    get_ticket_data(
    p_tickets => inTickets,
    x_action_plan => outActionPlan);
    DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE('Actions: '||outActionPlan.COUNT);
    END;
    Thanks for your quick feedback,
    Florin

  • Passing array values to an Applet from JSP

    Hi,
    I have a JSP page in which I've arrays that are populated from a DB. I want to pass these array values from the JSP page to a Applet in the same page. Is it possible ?
    Any help will be appreciated.
    :-) Praveen

    Then the answer is no. The Applet doesn't exist until it is instanciated by the browser so the JSP running on the server can not pass Java Objects. You can either set up a javascript array, set the parameter tags in the HTML Applet tag or have the Applet open a URLConnection back to the server.
