Pass intersection values when drilling through by clicking on a value in a matrix

I have two SSRS reports. One is acting as a source report and the other as a target report.
Both reports give information about "Customer Contact".
My source report contains one matrix with the following attributes:
Columns: Contact type (Email, Phone, Desk)
Rows: Employee function (Administrative, Manager)
Measure: Contact quantity
The source report has two parameters on 'Contact type' and 'Employee function'
My target report contains one matrix with the following attributes:
Columns: Customer name
Rows: Employee name
Measure: Contact quantity
The target report has two parameters on 'Contact type' and 'Employee function'
I am using [Action] from the [Textbox property] of 'Contact Quantity' to go to my target report.
What i want to achieve is the following:
Lets say i select All for both parameters when running my source report.
I get all the Contact types against all the Employee functions.
Now the intersection between 'Email' and 'Manager' is 27.
When i click on the value 27 in the matrix i want to go to my target report and pass trough Email and Manager so filtering can take place based on the intersection i clicked on in the source report.
What it does now is just pass the full parameter value selected from the prompts in source report. I want to narrow it down.
Any help? Thanks!

Hello Qiuyun,
Thank you very much for your reply.
I have managed to get the drilltrough from source to target working correctly by passing the field value. I first got it to work on a small test data set and it works fine. However when i used this method on my production reports the performance became very
bad. My first drilltrough took about 30 seconds instead of 2 seconds when i was passing the full parameter values. The next drilltrough gives back an out of memory error after quite some time (20 minutes +).
One important thing to mention is that these reports run on an SSAS cube. I made the following changes to the setup to get the pass field value method working.
Initial setup: (Fast response)
1. I start of by creating a new report.
2. I select a the datasource (SSAS Cube) and i open the 'Query builder'.
3. I then drag the attributes i need from the cube to the query.
4. Afterwards i drag the attributes i want to use as parameters to the pane above the query and mark them as parameters. When finishing this step the parameters are automatically created in the design view (Report Data Pane) and within the data set of the
report. When running the report the available values for the parameter are displayed automatically.
5. Now i can run the report without having defined filters on the dataset. This setup performs very good but does not make it possible to pass trough field values.
New setup: (Very slow response)
1. I start of by creating a new report.
2. I select a the datasource (SSAS Cube) and i open the 'Query builder'.
3. I then drag the attributes i need from the cube to the query.
4. I DON'T drag any attributes to the above pane (Dimension, Hierarchy, Operator, Filter Expression, Parameter) to be marked as parameters, i just finish after dragging to the query pane.
5. Now i create my parameters manually in the design view (Report Data Pane).
6. If i want to populate the parameters i do this by defining a separate dataset (query) per parameter to populate the drop down box. Otherwise i manually enter a string.
7. I manually add the parameters to my dataset in the design view.
8. Last i add filters which indicate what fields need to be filterd based on which parameter value.
Any suggestions on how to get this working with acceptable performance?
Thanks in advance for your help.
(If you need screenshots to clarify the steps please let me know)
Kind regards,

  • When drill through from FR report, navigate to FDM landing page.

    Hi,
Data loaded in HFM 11.1.2.1 using FDM 11.1.2.1 and it has been replaced by ERP integrator 11.1.2.1.501. When we perform drill through from Financial reporting report it is navigating to the FDM landing page instead of ERP integrator landing page. In FDM landing page, showing the ERROR:
    "Error: Error Retrieving recordset"
Anyone please help me to solve this issue.
    Thanks,
    Yamuna

    Hi ,
My guess is that , when you loaded the data from ERPi the drill regions created by FDM have been over written. Hence you are not able to drill down to the FDM page. This happens in most of the scenarios , where if the data is loaded across an intersection using FDM and then again the data is loaded in the same intersection using some other way like Flat Files or ERPi the Drill Regions or Drill POVs get compromised.
To confirm whether your FDM drill back is working or not , create a simple form using any of the intersections from your dimensionS ( not the same ones used above ) and load a single line of data using FDM across those intersections in the form. Try drilling back to the FDM Landing Page and check. Same way , create a report for the same intersections and check drill back to FDM. Remember to check the :Drill - Through" check box in the property grid in the Grid Properties for that report.

  • How to make data in Essbase cube equal to data in DW when drilling through

Is there standard ways in Oracle BI + Essbase to make data in Essbase cube and DW equal (corresponding)?
For example when we are drilling down from cube to DW in this moment in DW may be loaded additional data (new data) which are not loaded in the cube yet.
So we have situation where data in the cube not correspond to data in the DW.

I think rebuilding the cube on a more frequent basis not solves the problem – there will be significant time between the moment when data loaded in DW and when data updated in the cube.
I thought of creating 2 tables in DW (“new” and “old”) and 2 cubes (“new” and “old”).
So the process of loading data will look like this:
    1. We have corresponding data in table “old” and cube “old”. User always works with “old” objects.
    2. Load data to table “new”.
    3. Load data to cube “new” from table “new”.
    4. Rename tables and cubes: “old” to “new”, “new” to “old”. Here users starting to work with updated cube and table.
    5. Add new changes go cube and table “new” (there will be old data).
    6. Go to step 2.
But this way is too expensive (storage amount doubles).
And maybe easier way can be found?...

  • Drill Through report Intersection levels

<p>Hello,</p><p> </p><p>Is it possible to have an intersection in a drill through reportfor a particular level which would not include its descendents?Like for example:</p><p>Dimension: Products</p><p>                            Coke</p><p>                            Pepsi</p><p>   I want the drill through intersection to beonly on PRODUCTS and not on Pepsi or Cola.</p><p> </p><p>Can this be done in the drill through defination?</p><p> </p><p>Thank you.</p>

Assuming you are using EIS for the drill through, you can set up the drill through intersection for any level or at the dimension level. If you are using Analyzer for drill through, you can set up the query to only get the dimension 'Product'

    Hi,
I have FDM with Essbase adapter installed, version 11.1.2.0.0.

    1) that the target system (originating the drill through) is properly configured;

With other custom dimensions in this select statement - the same error, in front of correct element - string with other joined elements.
Can anybody help me to understand why i have this error in drill through?
FDM error or Oracle RDBMS errors or Planning with Essbase? Something wrong with locale setting may be, with "," or "." delimiter somewhere in the settings?

    Hi there
Are you using member aliases or names? I had problems with aliases in excel not allowing drill through. not sure if this is fixed in 11.1.2
Are you trying to drill through from a level 0 intersection?

  • Drill Through Report Parameters from Graph Series Action

    Hi
    Using ReportBuilder 3
I need some help please on passing parameters to a Drill Through Report, when a user clicks on a bubble in a graph.
In context, I have a Tooltip that provides a count of the sysid field, which on mouse over gives the user the correct aggregate for the bubble they are looking at.
    [Count(sys_id)]
So say I have a bubble that I am hovering over, showing a count of two sysid's, when I click the bubble I want to run a Drill Through report that uses sysid as a parameter.  Therefore I want to pass through the two sysid's that the aggregate has identified.
Now if I go to the action tab and select 'Go to report', select my report and add a Parameter, I need an expression that retrieves the sysid's for the parameters.
At the moment I am using the following expression:
    =Split(Join(LookupSet(1,1,Fields!sys_id.Value,"ProjectMaster"),","),",")
This provides the correct string format for the multi value parameter that I have on my report.  The problem is, it passes all the sysid's actively displayed on the entire graph and not just the two that the aggregate has identified in the Tooltip.
Question - Is there a way of building the expression to lookup the two sisid's relevant to the bubble I am interested in, rather than the dataset for the whole graph?
    Many Thank
    Andy

    Hi Tim
The report has two parameters Based on Group Type and then Sub Group Type.
The expression I am using for the drill through parameters is =Split(Join(Fields!sys_id.Value,","),",")
Below is a subset of the dataset with relevant fields and sample values.
    Group   Type
    Group   Subtype

Message was edited by: Doug Bassett

I've been following this thread and trying to figure out how to make this work. I was getting inconsistent results or errors with most of the code that has been posted. But I finally got it working... at least on a Leopard machine (not sure if this could have changed between Tiger and Leopard so your mileage may vary).
What I found was that a checkbox button that's located directly in a window seems to have a state that's equal to 0 when it's unchecked and 1 when it's checked. But a checkbox cell that's contained within a matrix seems to have a state that's set to either _off state_ or _on state_. Trying to set a cell's state to 0 or 1 simply wasn't working right for me. So I get the state of the "selectall" checkbox button (which is a 0/1) and transform it to either "off state" or "on state" before setting the states of the checkbox cells in the matrix.
    Here's my code:
    on clicked theObject
set n to name of theObject
    if n = "selectall" then
set s to state of theObject
    log "state: " & s
    if s = 0 then
    set newState to off state
    else
    set newState to on state
    end if
repeat with i from 1 to count of cells of matrix "directories" of window "main"
tell cell i of matrix "directories" of window "main"
    set state to newState
    end tell
    end repeat
    return
    end if
    if n = "logStatesBtn" then
    logStates()
    return
    end if
    end clicked
    on logStates()
    log "Logging states:"
set s to state of button "selectall" of window "main"
    log "selectall checkbox: " & s
repeat with i from 1 to count of cells of matrix "directories" of window "main"
tell cell i of matrix "directories" of window "main"
    set s to state
    end tell
    log "Cell " & i & ": " & s
    end repeat
    end logStates
Note the "logStates" handler is just something I connected up to a "logStatesBtn" button in my window that lets me spit out the states of all the checkboxes into the console log. This is how I actually discovered that the cells were set to "off state" or "on state".

  • How to create Drill through's from BPC to ECC and BEX

    Hi Experts,
    @Greetings@
Am new to BPC can any one help me on Drill trough's. I want to create a drill through to ECC system and BEX Query.
    Thanks for support in advance.
    Regards,
    Harini.

    Hi Harini,
Your Drill through functionality is linked to an on line search website, giving you all necessary information.
During reporting, you need to have more information about selected region.
Before performing or using the Drill-Through feature, ensure that the following prerequisites have been met
            1. You are logged on to any BPC Environment with administration authorizations
            2. From home screen, Switch to the administration area by clicking planning and consolidation                          Administration link
Inside admin area you find Drill through  maintainace in the content tree under the features node.
After opening the Drill through click on New button,
There we need to enter Id, Decription, URL and model name.
If you want do Drill- through from BEx query first you need to publish the query to portal. see below I mention the procedure for publishing a query in the portal.
BEx Query Designer: In the menu bar, choose Query → Publish → To the Portal. See Functions in the Menu Query.
BEx Web Application Designer: In the menu bar, choose Web Template  → Publish → To the Portal. See Functions in the Menu Query.
BEx Report Designer: In the menu bar, choose Report  → Publish → To the Portal. See Functions in the Menu Query.
After posting to portal copy that link paste in the URL address in the drill through.
In the parameter mapping add infoobjects technical names under parameters and Dimensions names under Dimension or user defined values and maintain the which property you want map mention under the property values.
And the save the query and go to the excel and you have an option in the excel ribbon Drill Through and click on that, you will get the query which you are posted in the portal.
    This may help,

  • EIS Drill-Through to Transactional Data

Hi!Is there a quick way to retrieve transactional fact data(non-summarized)from the fact table when drilling through in the Essbase Spreadsheet Add-in ? Have set up a drill through report through EIS, but it doesn't retrieve fact table columns even though the Template SQL was modified. Thanks in advance

We have two SQL tables, Detail and Summary. In EIS, our Model has both tabels joined as the fact table. When you create the Drill Thru report you select the fields from the Detail table but the SQL logic still looks at the summary table. Note for excel, when you drill thru make sure each record in detail is unique or excel will suppress. we had to add a field to get all record to display in excel.

  • Passing different (multi-) values for parameters to drill-through report, based on clicked subtotal in main report

In Report Builder 3.0, I have made a main report in which the user can filter the underlying dataset using three parameters (all multi-value). The report shows totals grouped by these three parameters, as well as a grand total. What I want is to click
on a total, which then opens the drill-through report for the corresponding records. I have achieved this for the grand total; the action in the corresponding text box passes all selected values of the parameters to the drill-through report.
What I cannot figure out is how to make this work right when clicking on a subtotal. When I use the same expression as for the grand total, the same values for the parameters are passed, instead of the subset that apply to the corresponding text box in the
main report. I expected this to work, because Report Builder /does/ correctly calculate the SUMs for the different levels, even though the expressions are the same.
My question is: how do I pass different drill-through (multi-) values for parameters, corresponding to the respective subtotals in the main report?
(FYI: I am using Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 and Report Builder 3.0 .)

    Hello Katherine,
Thanks once more for your quick reply.
I was aware of the textbox action "Go to report", and how to pass parameters in general. My question concerned how to determine the scope of the passed multi-value parameters (to the values that apply to the respective group/subtotal). The article you linked
to is informative, but not a solution to my problem.
A colleague of mine came up with a pragmatic solution: instead of trying to determine the scope of the parameter values, now I "look to the left in the results table". The two screenshots below should illustrate this. (Screenshots are in Dutch. Specific information
    is pixelated.)
Unfortunately, I am not able to post images. Once my account is verified, I will edit them in. For now, I hope the text speaks for itself enough.
[Screenshot: Drill-through parameters - 01: Report Builder tablix with subtotals]
[Screenshot: Drill-through parameters - 02: Textbox properties (selected in screenshot 01) - Action - Go to report]
The first screenshot shows the tablix in the Report Builder. The second screenshot shows the properties of the textbox selected in the first.
Notice that I do not pass parameters for the first two columns, but the actual values. I only pass the parameter (containing /all/ user-selected values) for the third column. In the textbox below the selected one, I pass the actual values for the first column,
and parameters for the last two. In the textbox above the selected one, I pass the actual values for all three columns.
The only (cosmetic) flaw this approach has is that in the drill-through report, the list of selected parameters might show values that do not occur in the (corresponding part of the) results, and only for those parameters for which the main report passes (all
user-selected) parameter values, and not the actual values in the results. The results are correct, though.
If there is a way to directly determine the scope of multi-value parameters for passing to a drill-through report, I would still like know. But for now, this seems to work.

  • In Drill through report pass hyperlink value as parameter to another report using ssrs 2008 R2

    Hi All,
I have one drill through SSRS report in which if I click one hyperlink in the summmary report it should be passed as parameter for detail report, like this....

If I click A1 then that should be passed as parameter to detail report and display A1 data in detail report
If I click A2 then that should be passed as parameter to detail report and display A2 data in detail report.

  • Passing multi value parameter to the Drill through report

    Hi
I have two reports say Report A and Report B.
    Both reports using same parameters.
I am Navigating from Report A to Report B using Jump to Report option.
Now when I pass multiple parameter to the Report B it only displays first parameter results.
In report B I have parameter multi value select to true.
I would like to know if its possible or not to pass multi value parameter in drill through report?
I would appreciate if someone can help me here.
