Passing a page link with password embedded?

I did this a few years ago but cannot remember how.
I need to create a link to give to someone to a password
protected site (ASP
and Access db) that will have the password embedded directly
into the link
in order for them to be logged in to the site as soon as they
click the
link.
I tried something like this but it didn't work:
http://www.mysite.com/members.asp?pwd="ABC"

Are you sure PDF won't work? It should as what you're trying to do is pretty much what it is designed for (PDF - Portable Document Format). On a Mac anywone who receives the file should be able to see it in all its page layout glory by using the app Preview or Adobe Reader. Same on a PC, the file should be viewable as a PDF file using Adobe Reader and probably some other viewer (don't use PCs so not sure what other apps).
What application are you creating the file in and are you sure you're exporting it correctly in PDF format, fonts and images embedded?

Share OneNote Page Links with unregistered users

I have uploaded a Notebook that is published and shared via an Office 365 Sharepoint website.
Unregistered users can view the content of the notebook simply by clicking the link that leads to it.
I have created a list of links that lead to specific pages of the notebook but these links cannot
be utilized by users who have not signed in with a Microsoft 365 account first.
Thus, I would like to know if it is possible to share links to a specific OneNote page of a
notebook that is hosted on an Office 365 SharePoint website, and have guests view its
content without having to sign in a Microsoft account. Any suggestions?

Hi haroair, I think the only way that would be possible is if each user changes their browser settings individually. Otherwise you'd have to set up permissions to allow anonymous access.

How to? Pages document with movie embeded to pdf

Hi,
I have a pages document ('09 version 4.3) with a movie (mp4) embeded.
But when I export it to a pdf the movie changes to a still.
But pdf supports movies right? So, does anybody know how to export the pages document into a pdf and still have a working movie?

That's a Preview/PDF problem, more than a Pages one. I believe that you will be able to add an embedded movie using Acrobat Pro.

CSS - manually highlight current page link?

In the sidebar navigation on this page I want to highlight the current page link with a CSS class. I wrote a class called "current" and applied it to the link. But nothing changes. I've used this on other sites, but something is tripping me up this time. I'm obviously missing something simple.

Are you creating this Current Page marker manually?
You're using Pop Menu Magic 2 from Project Seven which already has an excellent in-built feature for Automatic and Advanced Current Page "you are here" marking.
Click the two boxes adjacent "Current Marking" in the PMM2 interface and the job is done. The PMM2 PDF User Guide explains the feature in detail.

IWeb • How Do I Make Links in an Embedded PDF Document Open in New Page?

On this page http://ostyn-newman.com/Gov_Downloads.html I have a PDF document that is embedded. I tried an IFrame, but everything seemed to work better for me with the "Embed" code. I am open to changing this if it would be better. Here's my problem. I can get the PDF document to display fine, but when I click on the links in the PDF document, the destination page opens in the embedded window. I want the links to open the destination in a new window.
I created the part of the document with most of the links (Pages 8.5 - 56) in Numbers and cut and pasted the table into a Pages document to create the completed document on our site. I exported the docuemnt from Pages as a PDF file which is what you see. There is also a link to download the file on the same page which works just fine.
I have tried to insert the target="_blank" code but have not been able to get it to open the destination pages in a new window. I am inserting the code by using the Insert/Widget/HTML Snippet Feature in IWeb. Here is the code I am using.

It is live on my site. You can see that the embedded document still opens the destination links in the embedded window.
As for your other two suggestions, thank you as well. I am aware of those techniques and did not use them because that is not how I want the other PDF links on the page to behave. The catalog and autocad blocks downloads in the box at the top should simply download (or behave however the client's browser is configured to handle downloaded PDF documents or zip files.) I don't intend to force those to open a new window. I could also have our client click on a link to the PDF document and open it in a new page (like in your second suggestion) but I was hoping to embed the PDF and have it automatically viewable on our Download • Terms • Prices Page with all of the PDF search functions intact as well as the links be active. My only complaint at this point is that the links in the embedded PDF document open the destination page in the embed window instead of a new window. I only want to force a new window because the destination window doesn't behave properly when it opens in my embed window and it is difficult to figure out how to go back to the my PDF document when a destination window gets opened in the embed window. The code you sent didn't do the trick. Or maybe I didn't get it exactly right. That is why I included it above. Thanks for trying though. I appreciate the effort.
I would be willing to bypass the imbed/iFrame route altogether if I could just somehow drop the Pages document into the IWeb page and retain the search and link features, but I've not been able to figure out how to do that. When I was exploring how to directly drop a Pages document into an IWeb page is when I stumbled on the method of embedding a PDF document into an IWeb page to retain the important search and link features.

Passing a form bean with a link

I am passing some parameters from a jsp page to the action class in the following manner

Can anyone tell me is this the right approach to pass paramters from a link .
Can i pass the whole form bean with a link ?

From what I understand you are using Struts, and as much as I know you have to configure struts so that when you click for example on a link with the url set as hello.do, it will actually get the hello form bean and handle it. However as much as I know you have to do this from the xml configuration!
I am not expert in struts however, but that is my feeling.

Problems with template and page links..

I'm pretty new to dreamweaver Cs4 and am having a slight problem. I have my template.dwt file and 5 other pages which use this template layout. However when I preview my website in my browser, the template.dwt file links to all the pages, however when I click on another link (a page link) once on this page, the hyperlinks from the navigation cant be clicked. In other words the navigation turns into just text and no hyperlinks.
I want to be able to click on any page on my website using the navigation bar, so i can go back and forth onto pages all over my website using my navigation.
Anyone know what to do or a solution to allow me to have all the links working from the template

You are being confused by a) not understanding root relative vs document
relative links, and b) not understanding how DW previews files.
If I have a document with a link to an image that looks like this -
<img src="/images/foo.gif"...
That's what's called a root relative link.
If I preview that document in DW, then the browser gets the document, sees
the leading "/" and reads that as the root of the hard drive, since the
browser has no idea where the root of the site is. Thus, the image is
broken in the preview.
If I have temp files enabled, then DW will secretly convert the file being
previewed into a temporary file, and hand that to the browser. This temp
file has had all root relative links converted to document relative links
(as you will see by looking at the code in the browser), and has had all
include files actually embedded in the page, and has had all external CSS
and js markup embedded in the page. In other words, DW has made the
document into a stand-alone page.
If you do not have temp files enabled, all of these links would be broken on
preview.
Now - if you are using root relative links, AND you have temp files enabled,
AND you click away from the previewed document, then all of your links will
be broken, since DW has not made that linked file into a temp file. This is
what you are seeing.
So - if you want to click away on preview, then you must use document
relative links for the site -
<img src="../images/foo.gif"... (for example)
These will still work on preview since the browser knows how to determine
the current file's location and how to follow that path.

Using Tabs passing a link with parameter

Is possible to use Tabs with parameters? I created a tab and need to pass a parameter when going to the tab link.

No I haven't set one up anywhere , even then since everything happens internally , there is no way to know what really is happening underneath.
Here's the approach.
Say you have to set two page items P100_ITEM and P100_ITEM2 with the values 'A' and 'B' when a tab is clicked.
<li>What you do is , create a blank page say 110, and let the tab redirect to page 110.
<li>Now that we have reached 100, next task is to redirect to the required page 100 from 110, without really loading 110.
For that, create a branch in Page 110 with a Branch point of "*On Load: Before Header*" , Page is 100
for the "Set these items"
P100_ITEM,P100_ITEM2
With these values
A,BThe branch is just like any you create to set page item except that it runs onload before header.
Now if you try to load page 100, it redirects to page 100. SO when the tab redirects to 110, the branch in 110 takes it to page 100.
Have I made it clear now ?

LabVIEW Embedded/ARM with password = Crash to Desktop

Hi,
I just installed the LabVIEW Embedded for ARM evaluation kit with the LM3S8962.
A basic project will compile and download perfectly. (Amazing how well this works!)
However, as I'm primarily a SW dev, I am a firm believer in GOOP and other OO technologies. I can create the class and call it in the main VI, but when I go to compile the project, the compiler asks me for the password to a deeply embedded VI (which I do not have) and, after failing to validate or canceling, LabVIEW will just disappear.
If I create and use a native LVOOP class, it'll compile and run, however pass-by-value is simply not an option.
Test Cases:
1) Naked Main VI: compiles, runs OK
2) Main VI calling protected VI: will not compile if VI remains locked ('cancel' button or invalid password entered) and will sometimes CTD
3) Main VI calling LVOOP class: comples, runs OK
4) Main VI calling GOOP class: CTD after OK/Cancel in password dialog
Versions:
Windows XP 32bit Professional SP3
LabVIEW 2009 9.0f1 Evaluation
Endevo GDS 3.51
This really looks like an issue with password-protected VIs.
Has anyone seen this sort of problem before?

I understand why the builder asks for the password.
I also understand that the LabVIEW Application Builder does not ask for the password, it instead compiles the VI into the Runtime bytecode whether password protected or not.
If this is indeed the case, then the LabVIEW Application Builder generated bytecode could then be used to "expose the functionality of the VI."
However, that's just not the case.
If you've ever looked at the C code generated from a single VI, then you might understand that the C code is in no way understandable or recognizable as to what is really happening in the VI.
I guess if you personally worked on or made great contributions to the LabVIEW runtime engine you might possibly - with no small amount of time and effort - be able to gain some small understanding of what's going on in the generated C code. However, for the average (or even advanced) C programmer, it's obfuscated to the point of incomprehensibility.
I've attached the C code generated from the Naked VI for reference. It's 45Kb of structures, lookup tables, and functions that - while they do perform what the VI does - are in no way recognizable as a while loop, a couple shift registers, addition nodes, split/join number nodes, and VI calls.
While, on the surface, that answer seems plausible, I'm afraid it is indeed nonsensical. Perhaps I could have a chat with the person making this decision?

I have upgraded to Pages 5.0.1 and now I cannot print or pass along "comments" in the text of a document. I previously was able to convert the Pages document, with comments, to a "Word" document so that others could view the edited text. How do I do that?

I have upgraded to Pages 5.0.1 and now I cannot print or pass along "comments" in the text of a document. I previously was able to convert the Pages document, with comments, to a "Word" document so that others could view the edited text. How do I do that?

When you installed Pages v5, it automatically moved the older Pages ’09 v4.3 into /Applications/iWork '09 folder. If you want normal comment interoperability, you are advised to resume using the older version of Pages. Newer, is certainly not better with Pages v5.

Lost al .pages and .numbers docs , iphoto and office programs won't open after changing: auto startup in: startup with password. all personal settings are also gone

After i changed this setting: autologin. into login with password i restarted the computer.
it started up with a blank personal surrounding. also my .pages and .numbers documents were gone, personal settings gone, iphoto won't open and office programs wo'nt open.
in finder i can find several .doc documents and i can see that all my pictures are still on the system, But i can't open them.
i was so stupid not to use time machine. But is there way to recover the system with my documents or something??
please help.

Nope, without any backup they're probably gone for good. If you want you can purchase some data recovery software such as Data Rescue. I hope this may be a lesson why it's critical to backup your system, Time Machine is a good place to start.
