Passing an array from one jsp page to another.

I need to pass an array from one page to another, without using the query string.
Can anyone help?
I was given one suggestion about putting the array inside a Map object, then putting the map in the session.
Is there an alternative? i am struggling to find out how to use maps properly.
Alternatively, could someone give me a pointer on how to implement this possibility?
Help needed ASAP.
Thankyou

First.jsp
String[] str = {1,2,3,4,5};
session = request.getSession(true);
session.setAttribute("str",str); //or application.setAttribute("str",str);
Second.jsp
session = request.getSession();
String str[] = (String[])session.getAttribute("str"); //or String str[] = (String[]) application.getAttribute("str");
Now you can use str[].

  • Problem in passing data from one .jsp page to another .jsp page

    i have a problem here
    Actually i have 2 jsp pages. What im trying to do here is actually i want to pass data from the first jsp page to the second for updating
    The first jsp page contains data that user wants to update in the form of table.
    <td><img src = "edit.gif" alt = "edit" border="0" ><td>
    <TD><%= Name %></td>
    <TD><%= rs.getInt("Age") %></td>
    <TD><%= rs.getString("Gender") %></td>
    So this page displays the data that users wants to update plus one image button (edit button). So when user clicks this button, all the data in this page will be brought to the second .jsp page called updatePersonal for updating.
    The problem here is that it is not displaying the existing data in the second .jsp page.
    The second page basically contains forms
    <INPUT TYPE="text" NAME="FirstName" maxlength="30" value = "<%=FirstName%>">
    Can someone please help me. I really dont know what to do..How do i get the data displayed in the text field that is passed from the first .jsp page..thankx in advance

    Please modify below code to:
    td><img src = "edit.gif" alt = "edit" border="0" ><td>
    -----------------modified code
    td><a href="updatePersonal.jsp?FirstName=<%=rs.getString(FirstName")%">&LastName=<%=rs.getString("LastName")%>&Age=<%=rs.getInt("Age")%>&Gender=<%=rs.getString("Gender")%>"><img src = "edit.gif" alt = "edit" border="0" ></a><td>
    I'm sure it works</a>

  • Pass a parameter from one ASP portlet to another ASP portlet

    We are trying to pass a parameter from one ASP portlet to one or more other ASP portlets.
    We are using PDK-URL Services and have created a provider.xml for each of the ASPs and the ASPs work as normal within the portlets created.
    We are now trying to use PDK-URL Services to pass parameters to a portlet. As a first step we set up a portlet which displayed an ASP, this ASP (and the portlet) expected a parameter. If the parameter value is left blank the Portlet displays a default page (not the ASP page) for passing in the parameter i.e. a text box and a submit button. If the parameter is entered and submitted the ASP page returns and the results of the query are based on the parameter typed in.
    As the next step what we are now trying to do is pass a parameter from one ASP portlet to another.
    The Documentation says that there are two types of parameters Qualified where Parameters will be passed only to the initiating portlet i.e., portlet which contains them and Unqualified where all portlets will be affected by the parameter sent by any portlet.
    Very little information was available on this, apart from the one liner explanation of each (above).
    When we tested the above, using the PDK sample ("ParamCustomizationPortlet") portlets it doesn't appear to be doing anything in particular.
    Any ideas on the best approach to passing parameters from one ASP portlet to another?
    Thanks for your time.

    We can visualize Qualified and Unqualified parameters only when there are multiple portlet instances in a single page. For example, add two instances of ASP portlet you have created, and submit from one portlet. You can see the other portlet also receiving this parameter, provided you are using unqualified parameters.
    Thanks,
    Amjad.

  • Can I move Array from one Xserve RAID to another and keep the data

    I'd like to move a set of disk with an existing Array from one Xserve RAID to another. Can I simply shutdown both Xserve RAIDs and move the disk over, assuming I put the disk back in the same order?

    Yes, you should be able to do this.
    BE SURE YOU HAVE A BACKUP FIRST.

  • Passing parameters from one OAF page to another OAF PAge

    Hello
    I was wondering, if there is a possibility of passing request parameters from one page to another page in EBS ( E-Business Suite).
    I tried using the following
    a) PageContext.putParamater ( "MyParamater", "ParamaterValue")
    b) I addded the above line of code by extending an page controller of the OAF page and personalized the page
    When I am trying to retrieve the value by getParameter() in the next page. I am also unable to get access to the parameter in the next page.
    I am trying the above code while trying to create expenses in I-Expense module...I would like to pass the ReportHeaderId from one page to another page for customization purposes. I Am not able to get ReportHeaderId in the ReviewPAge...There are no Business Objects in the Review page...hence trying the putParameter idea.
    Any help will be highly appreciated
    Thank You

    What is the source of the parameter? If the source is a VO, you can use the method I have specified in my previous post regarding updating the button properties. For example, you can include the param in the destination URL of the button as such:
    OA.jsp?page=/xyz/oracle/apps/.../myPG&retainAM=Y&addBreadCrumb=Y&myParam={@ParamSource}
    where ParamSource is an attribute from a VO.
    You can get this value via oapagecontext.getParameter()
    Can you please give details as to the source of your params (param-1, param-2, etc.). This will help in providing you suggestions.

  • Passing an array from one method to another

    I am passing an array from my "load" method and passing it to be displayed in my "display" method in an applet .
    I made the array a class variable (to be able to pass it to the "display" method).
    The applet runs, but nothing seems to be in the array.The screen says applet started, but nothing else. There does not seem to be any CPU activity.
    Trying to debug this, I have tried to paint the screen during the array build. I never figured out how to do this. So I made this a non applet class, put it in debug, and the array seems to load okay.
    Any help is appreciated.
    This is the applet code:
    import java.applet.Applet;
    import java.awt.*;
    import java.io.*;
    import java.util.*;
    import java.net.*;
    public class urla extends java.applet.Applet
    int par1;
    int i = 1;
    int j = 20;
    int m = 0;
    int k = 0;
    String arr[] = new String[1000];
    String inputLine;
        public void load() throws Exception
          try
            URL mysite = new URL("http://www.xxxxxxxxxxxxxx.html");
           URLConnection ms = mysite.openConnection();
           BufferedReader in = new BufferedReader(
           new InputStreamReader(
           ms.getInputStream()));
             while ((inputLine = in.readLine()) != null)
               arr[m] = inputLine;
               m++;
           in.close();
          catch (MalformedURLException e)
            k++;
        public void display(Graphics screen)
          screen.drawString("THE FOLLOWING HAVE ADDED THEIR BIOS:",5 ,5);
          for (int i = 0; i < 20; i++);
            j = j + 20;
            screen.drawString("output - "
            + arr, 5, j);
            repaint() ;
    }

    String arr[] = new String[1000];is this typing mistake????? because if u did it in
    program as well i don think it will work.. the tag is
    innnside array lenght... hope iam saying this right!!no, he had the bold form tags (b and /b inside square brackets) in his previous non-code tagged post. He carried it over to this post and they caused an error. I highly doubt that they were in his actual program. Just delete them.

  • Is it possible to pass selected value from one jsp to another jsp page?

    In my welcome page(in jsp), if the user is selecting some values, is it possible to pass those values to another jsp page and display?
    If yes, how can it be done?
    please help..

    Yes, you would have to make the motion from one page to the next submit a form. Then on the second JSP you can use request.getParameter("nameOfInputField") to get the value the user selected.

  • How to get the value in one JSP page to another?

    Hi,
    I have problems in passing the value around in JSP. I have two JSP pages as below:
    test1.jsp
    I try to get the vaule from my textbox by using:
    String strUser = request.getParameter ("strUserName");
    Then i print out by using: out.print(strUser); then i can get the value and put on my page (For example, i get ABC on my page).
    test2.jsp
    Next, i want to get the value from strUser (which mean that the one i already display on page in test1.jsp, ABC) to insert into my table by using INSERT INTO statement. Then i try by using
    String strUser1 = request.getParameter ("strUser");
    Is it possbile for me to do that? I cannot get anything to insert into my table. Then i tried out.print(strUser1); then i found that i get NULL value.
    Could you please give me some guidance?
    Thanks you very much for any advise you may give me.

    Hi,
    Thank you very much for your help. It's working fine if i just get a one value to another page, however, i have problem while i pass the value in my loop to another page because i always get the last record. I try with the following code:

    Thanks you very much for your time and any consideration you may give me.

  • Passing "Value Objects" from one JSP to next  (2)

              Someone posted a response from BEA which has since disappeared, it was no different
              from what I was doing and it I still can't get it to store the information in
              the Value Object.
              I get values (true/false) from a Radio button on a FORM in a JSP, press a "Next
              Step" Button.
              I have a "Value Object" in JSP_1, which I use the setters to store various information
              obtained from the <FORM>. I then "jsp:forward" to JSP_2, set different information
              and then I "jsp:forward" to JSP_3 & so on. At the end of the JSP chain only the
              last setter is has the value "true", all the other values are false, despite all
              being "set" to "true".
              The "Value Object" is not storing the information set in previous JSPs. When I
              initially create the "value object" I use;
              <jsp:useBean id="myVO" class="uk.co.notify.valueobjects.MyVO" scope="request"
              />
              <jsp:setProperty name="myVO" property="*"/>
              In JSP_2 JSP999 I don't use <jsp:setProperty> I let the setter in the VO do
              it.
              I am using WebLogic 6.1 sp2 under Windows 2K Pro.
              Any pointers. Thanks.
              [att1.html]

    Ok. here's the difference.
              Hitting submit is altogether a different "new" http request. It will send a
              new request from your browser to the server. Whereas, the jsp:forward is
              within the server itself.
              So the VO object whose scope is set to "request" will not retain its values
              between 2 http request.
              For such kind of parameter passing, you could very well store the info. in
              user's session object.
              I hope this helps.

  • How To Pass an Array from One Frame in a Sequence to a ptr in the next Frame

    I have an array (generated from the "Replace Array Subset" VI) that I
    wish to pass to the next sequence in a frame.
    In this second frame, however, the VI that this data will go into
    expects it as a pointer to a buffer.
    Of course in C, the array name is the pointer to the array itself, but
    apparently this is not the case in Labview..
    because if I wire the output array to the edge of the frame (Blue
    solid blox - "Tunneling'?), and then try to connect
    that blue box in the second frame, to the VI expecting a pointer and
    the wire connection gets broken, and the blue
    solid box goes empty.
    How Can I do this??

    You are not being quite clear.  If the next frame expects a pointer to a buffer, it cannot be a vi.  Labview has no pointer types.  You must be referring to a Call Library Node which is set up to call a DLL function.  If this is the case, you need to configure the Call Library Node to accept an array of the data type.  Then you can wire the array into the call library node.
    Is this the case, Call Library Node?

  • Passing the values from one selection screen to another report

    Hi all,
    This is my requirement...

    If i enter the values and select say first radiobutton the corresponding called program needs to be executed .

  • Accessing cookies from one portal page to another page

    hai Oracle Expects,
    I have 3 pages in Portal 3.0.8-Oracle 8.1.7.
    I have some problem in the cookies.
    I will be thankful if your help me to

    The first page get the username and password
    through a procedure based portal form.
    Then it will check the username and password
    with the table and redirects to a corresponding page,if the value is correct. In the second and the third page i need the username and password. For that i used cookies to retrive. But some time it works and some times it wont works. I feel the coding which i used is with bugs.
    If you tell me how to write the cookies
    and to retirve the cookies in the forms i will try that and it will be the solution for my problem. I am expecting your reply .
    Thanks & Regards

  • Passing variables from one jsp to another

    Hi All,
    I've searched thru the forum and can't find an answer to a prob I'm having, trying to pass a variable from one jsp to another.
    in file searchBar.jsp i have
    <%
    String archiveSearch = "off";
    %>
    and
    <%
    if (userUtils != null && userUtils.getSearch().equals("on"))
    %>
    <a href="/webLayout/webSideBar.jsp?searchState=<%=archiveSearch%>onclick="archiveSearch = "on""></a>
    and in file webSideBar.jsp
    <%
    String searchState = "off";
    String archiveSearch = (String)request.getParameter("searchState");
    %>
    basically it will give me a variable archiveSearch set to on in webSideBar when the user clicks on the search button, but as it is it's not passing the variable from the searchBar.jsp to the webSideBar.jsp and I think it looks ok !!!! but it's not
    Help

    Looks good to me as well.
    Couple of suggestions
    1 - view source on searchbar.jsp - see what the generated source code for that link is
    2 - Look at the url used to generate webSideBar.jsp. If its not in the address bar, right click the webSideBar page and choose properties.
    Check to see what parameter was passed.
    Are these pages in a frameset? Do you have to specify a target frame for your link?

  • How to pass information from one JSP to another JSP? help please

    hi there
    my question is how to pass some information such from one JSP to another one. for exmple, on one page there is a form, and i need to pass some values from the form to another jsp, or some values that were calculated on one JSP and need to be passed to another one. thanks

    You can do this in several ways...here is a simple one...
    When you call the second page url, use this
    http://www.mysite.com?myVariableFromPageOne="hello"
    on the second page use this:
    String firstPageVariable = request.getParameter("myVariableFromPageOne");
    Thanks
