Passing an inherited type to a webservice

I am using WL 812 to call a webservice exposed by Apache Axis. I have created a control to call the webservice in WLW and I am calling it from a .JPD.
The webservice has a method that has a parameter that is an abstract type. When I attempt to pass a concrete type to my control, it would appear to be sent to the webservice as the base type as Axis comes back with:
<DATETIME> <Warning> <WLW> <000000> <Id=CONTROL_ID; Method=controls.WEB_SERVICE.METHOD_NAME(); Failure=com.bea.control.ServiceControlExcepti
on: <xml-fragment xmlns:soapenv="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSc

<faultstring>org.xml.sax.SAXException: Unable to create JavaBean of type ABSTRACT_BASE_CLASS. Missing default cons
tructor? Error was: java.lang.InstantiationException.</faultstring>
<detail/>
</xml-fragment>>
Shouldn't Weblogic be able to pass a derived class to this webservice?
Anyone help greatly appreciated

Hi Jerry,
Could you please post the WSDL for the Axis web service?
If you don't feel comfortable posting it here, how about sending it to my e-mail
address, listed above?

  • How to pass complex data type structure to WebService under mx:request?

    From my Flex client, I need to pass data to a web service whose operation expects a complex data type with multiple layers of nesting structure. How can I populate the <mx:request> for the <mx:WebServices>? Any examples?
    A couple of approaches come to my mind:
    (1) construct ActionScript object to mimic the datatype expected by web service, and pass an instance of the AS object to mx:request; or
    (2) construct an entire SOAP request body in XML and pass it into mx:request.
    Does any of these (or both) work? If both work, which is the better way?
    Thanks in advance for your input!
    -William

    Thanks a lot for the rapid response, Marcel.
    For further details on the maping between WS complexType structure and AS object, is there any specific requirement? such as naming, binding, structure of nesting, etc.

    Hi Girish,
    By definition, a Java object used as a input parameter (or return type)
    of a web
    service operation, must has a no-arg constructor in order for a Java-based
    Web
    Service Stack to serialize/deserialize it to/from XML. java.util.Map
    is an interface,
    so it does not meet this requirement :-)
    If your web service operation is just trying to return (or accept) a
    hash map
    of "arbitrary complex types", I recommend that you consider switching
    this to
    be an "array of arrays of specific complex types". The reason I say this
    is because,
    it allows even non-Java consumers to look at the <schema> elements in
    your web
    services' WSDL, and figure out all the possible "arbitrary complex types"
    that
    might be in this array. If you envision the consumer getting a box, where
    it can
    literally contain anything, you can probably see how much more code they
    would
    need to write, than if they knew the the box contained a box of these,
    and a box
    of these, and so on, and so on.
    Basically, all the "old school" type-safety rules still apply to web
    services
    computing. If you want web services with descent performance metrics,
    you're probably
    going to want to keep a lot of the "old school, distributed computing"
    practices
    in mind, when you design your stuff :-)
    That said, WLS 7.0 SP1 does not currently have a "built-in" HashMap codec.
    But,
    you could create one using the information at:
    http://edocs.bea.com/wls/docs70/webserv/customdata.html#1054435

    What target property must be specified while passing a object type variable to child package in SSIS 2012???

    As shown below, there is variable strVar and it's Value property is selected. Likewise you have to select the property that you need to pass.

    Is that possible to send serialized session/usertoken using soap header?

    Hi Micheal
    Thank you for the reply.  I have already created the CELogonToken Flash Variable and i am able get the logon token and map to the flash variable.
    Now i would like to pass the same to biws as parameter. But the service has only 2 parameters as username and password.
    Is there a way that i can create my custom parameters(CELogonToken/CESerializedSession) in BIWS service?

    Hello friends,
    How can I pass the XML file to any webservice API ?
    I have all the inputs of API in to the XML file.
    Please note:- I don't intend to do any .NET or Java coding to populate the data in the objects .Instead I plan to input the data to the webservice direcly from the XML file required schema.

  • Pass TestStand error type directly into function parameter

    Hi,
    I am using TestStand 4 and Labwindows CVI 8.5.
    I wonder if it is possible to pass Standard Step error type into CVI function parameters.
    I think it would be more simple to pass one parameter instead of passing Error code, Error occurred state and Error message into function prototype.
    I tried to use tsErrorDataType struct defined into tsutil.h into my function prototype.
    In TestStand, I pass Step error type into function parameter but it does not work.
    TestStand displays an error meaning parameters does not match function prototype.
    Thank you for your help.

    Hi Tartempion,
    In order to pass the TestStand Error Container as one parameter to a function in a CVI DLL, you must use a struct that is typedef'ed and create an .fp file that is included as a type library for the DLL. When you create a .fp file to add to a DLL, the DLL will not build unless all structs/enums are typedef'ed. Thus, I wouldn't advise using the tsutil.h because you would have to go through and typedef every single struct and enum in the header file.
    Instead, you can simply create a typedef'ed struct in your projects header file and create an .fp file with the struct specified as a data type. Then in TestStand, when you call the function you would need to ensure that the parameter is of Category "C Struct", and type "Error". The attached zip file contains a CVI 8.5 project that demonstrates this along with a TestStand 4.0 sequence file that demonstrates how to pass the parameter to the function by reference. In case you run into trouble creating the .fp file please refer to the following KnowledgeBase. The instructions are for enums but easily correspond to structs as well:
    TestStand and LabWindows/CVI Enumeration Data Types

  • How to pass values to XML complex type of a Webservice using PL/SQL

    HI,
    I need to call a web service from PL/SQL that has an complex type element. That complex type element has 4 child elements each of integer type.

    Thanks in advance.

    Have you tried doing a google search on "SOAP_API.add_parameter" to see what comes back? I see a lot of hits come back so hopefully one of those will help you. I've never used soap_api as I used utl_http to make WS calls. This required me to build the SOAP message (aka XML of a specific nature) by hand and then pass it to the WS using utl_http. How this approach is done via SOAP_API, I can't say.

  • Not able to pass cyclic XML schema type to a webservice method

    I have a webservice method called getData(GetDataDocument
    gDoc).
    I constructed a request with object (which exactly satisfy
    the XML schema def) to call up the getData(). [From my java client
    also I did the same; but the java classes have been generated using
    apache's xmlBeans; this works fine with the same kind of request].
    But the soap request constructed from flex does not get
    generated with all the values that I set in the request object.
    On further observation, I found out that if the schema
    involves cyclic elements, the soap request is not getting
    constructed as desired.
    My schema def:
    <complexType name="PredicateBagType">
    <sequence>
    <choice>

    </complexType>
    Note that the PredicateBagType may contain another
    PredicateBagType.
    I have constructed my request with objects in my flex
    application . Though I have set the BinaryPredicate object in my
    PredicateBag object, the soap request constructed looks like this
    which is not desired

  • Calling oracle API having parameter as record type throughPL/SQL WebService

    Hi All,
    I dont know whether this is the right forum to put this query, but as i am using a pl/sql web service , putting the query on this forum.
    My requirement is to call oracle API which in turh creates a single Invoice(using Ar_Invoice_Api_Pub.create_single_invoice )
    But the issue is this API in turn has some of the input parameters as Record type and table type, my concern is how to pass this data(record type or table type) as parameter thorugh java code .. If i use Collection or Hashmap will it work , I dont think so , some intermediate conversion will require.
    Subsequently the other requirement is fetch this record/table type data and return it to the java code
    Please correct me if i am wrong and suggest a proper solution if anybody is aware off or tried such things before.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Anant.

    Hi,I'm new comer of this world,
    I've a pl/sql like this:
    package MY_WS_API is
    type record_set is ref cursor;
    PROCEDURE Get_User_Info(p_user_id VARCHAR2,
    p_rep_id VARCHAR2,
    p_flag out number,
    p_msg out varchar2,
    p_recordset out record_set);
    end MY_WS_API;
    when I using jdeveloper trying to publish it as a webservice, in the step 4 of the wizzard poping me choose the program unit to expose, the PROCEDURE Get_User_Info is not available and told me "Ref cursor Type is not supported due to a jdbc limitation and Ref Cursor Types are only supported for use of return type".
    THE QUESTION is:
    1.the cursor I used is of return type,I'm not very understanding the "why not" message upon.
    2.in such case , need I trans the return cursor into Object[] if have to?
    3.any other limitation for generating WS from PL/SQL using jdeveloper?
    Thanks!

  • Problem in passing xstring data from abap to webservice method.

    Hi,
    I want to upload the document from ABAP to Microsoft SharePoint. So for that i have created the webservice in .net for uploading the document in SharePoint.
    Now in Abap i have consumed this service by creating proxy class. The web service has one method as Upload_File which takes byte[] as paramerter, so in wsdl file this parameter get converted into s:base64Binary and in abap it get converted into RAWSTRING.
    Now, when i try to upload the file with very small content (less than 54 character mean the rawstring variable which contain the file content has length less than 108 ), file gets uploaded with no problem, but when the file has content more than 54 character, it give error like "SOAP:1.032 SRT: Wrong Content-Type and empty HTTP-Body received"
    And also one thing when i have created the proxy class it gives warning that "The XSD type base64Binary does not exactly correspond to the ABAP type RAWSTRING"
    What can be the problem? how to pass file content to external web service?
    Thanks,
    Vikram

    Hi Nick,
    Yes, when i declare the data type as string in XSD it get converted into xsd:string.
    I have already tried using String as parameter in WebService method instead of byte[].
    But then in .Net, I need to write some code for converting the string variable ( which content the file content in hexadecimal format) into byte array and for that there is a method provided by .Net framework but when I use it, it write the hexadecimal content in file.
    So I have written my own code for converting hexadecimal content which string variable content to byte array.
    By doing this, it working fine and all type of file getting uploaded in SharePoint but when I try to open the file only .TXT file get open properly and other type of file give me some error.
