Passing arguments beetwen BSP pages

Hi,
I was following the example in the document to create my BSP page:

But in page 14 tells me that I have to add an "automatic page attribute" in page display.htm that provides me an attribute introduced in other page search.htm to modify a SELECT clause on OnInicialization method.
I don't know how to add this atuomatic attribute and how to catch the value of this attribute.
Can somebody help me please??

How to pass values between BSP pages?

Friends,
I have used htmlb controls within my BSP page. I need to pass the value that i provide in the first page to the next BSP page and display it. I used something like
navigation->set_parameter( name = 'val1' value = val1 ) and navigation->goto_page( 'second.htm' ).
Now, how should i read this value in the second.htm?. I tried to bring this value using the
data ename type string.
ename = navigation->get_parameter( name = 'val1' )
in the onInitialization event. But its not working.. How should i go about it?. Do i have to set anything in the Page attributes?. Is it possible to change the text of a label at runtime?.

Here's one way:
I have page attribute pa_error_no of 'Error.htm'defined as
     TYPE     CHAR3     3-Byte field
In OnInputProcessing of page1.htm
     navigation->set_parameter( name = 'pa_error_no'
                               value = '003' ).
     application->cv_page_next = 'Error.htm'.
     navigation->goto_page( application->cv_page_next ).
Then in 'Error.htm' (I happen to use it in the layout) you can reference it in OnInputProcessing also

      when '001'.
         if not ( application->cv_bp_number is initial ).

Can we pass arguments within HTML pages

can we send some arguments among the HTML pages.
eg: say if I have a form in one.html whose action is
two.html?txtText=evil&txttext2=actuallywon
if the same page was requested to a JSP page I could have retrived through request.getParameter("");
But i dont know to do it in the HTML pages
My concern is that the requested page two.html should get the values

You'll need to use JavaScript in your receiving HTML page (two.html) as documented in the blog entry [Get URL Parameters Using JavaScript|http://www.netlobo.com/url_query_string_javascript.html].

Error Passing an internal table between BSP pages

Any time there is data in the internal table and I try to pass it from one BSP page to the next I get an Web error. I've heard that it is possible to pass an internal table from one page to the next. can anyone point me in the right direction here?

You can do this with the navigation object only if the table is very small. Overwise it overflows 2+KB limitation of URLs.
Alternative ideas is to use server side cookies (search forum for many examples).
If stateful, just hang stuff of your application class.

Passing data from PCUI application to BSP page

Hi,
From CRM PCUI application, a BSP page is called for displaying a report. The behaviour of the report has to be different based on a data (field value) in the PCUI application.
How can I pass the data from PCUI application to the BSP page?

In the current scenario, in the PCUI application there is a button, on clicking which a bsp page is displayed. This is implemented via the Navigation (URL generation) in CRMC_BLUEPRINT table. In the BSP page, on entering the details and clicking on a button, different APIs have to be called based on a flag. The flag is set in PCUI application but I couldn't pass the information from there to the BSP page. Can you please let me know how I can achieve this.

Passing/retrieving hidden fields from Its template(IAC) to BSP page

Hi i m passing hidden fields from its template to custom BSP page...but not able to retrieve the hidden field in bsp page...is there any way we can retrieve the data....is there any equivalent of request.getattribute() method which we use in jsp to fetch the hidden fields....

from ITS template how are you calling/passing parameter to BSP
thru a form submit? or are you just openning the BSP thru a url link, in either case
you could pass the data as a form field (post) or in the url of the BSP (GET)
for example if the form field name in ITS template is myformfiled and you are submitting that to the BSP page then in the corresponding bsp page declare a page attribute withe same name (myformfiled) and mark the auto check box.
now the value passed from ITS template will be available within BSP in the ABAP variable myformfiled which you can use the way you want.

is it possible to pass parameter from workitem to bsp page and also vice versa?

SAP_WAPI_READ_CONTAINER function works well.but i need to pass a parameter to workitem container.
what i am trying to do is;
1-get data by using sap_wapi_read_container
2-change data
3-send changed data back to workitem
my problem is in third step.I am using SAP_WAPI_WRITE_CONTAINER. but it doesnt work.After execution the FM return_code set to 1.
Do u know how to set a variable in workitem?

Hi Karen,
What you could do is create a bsp application which receives workbook id as url parameter.
From WAD create a link to this BSP page and pass the wbook id in the url.
Within the BSP you can then read the excel as binary string like below
Select * from rsrwbstore into table wb_tab where workbookid = wbid.
You can then set wb_tab-clustd as the response of the page with mime type to 'application/vnd.ms-excel'. which will open as excel

Open new BSP page

i am in ABAP report and i want to open new BSP page from the ABAP report
becuse some time it is open the BSP page in the same session of SAP system.
and also how i can maximize it automatically in the same way of (F11 key).
is there any documents that describe and explain the signature of this method.

If you want to open the BSP in Browsers, you can call the FM CALL_BROWSER & pass your BSP appl URL. This will open the BSP from R/3.

Display image in BSP page,images are on a web server outside of SAP

Hi,
I am creating a BSP page for employee profile.The page needs to show an emp picture along with other info.The images are not in the MIME repository,they are stored in a separate web server.I am able to display the page using

However this is a non secured test server. If the images are on a secured server,I am assuming,an id ,pswd authentication will be required.Can I get the authentication done automatically so that the page is rendered seamlessly for the end user?
Would SSO help if this web server is a portal server?what if the web server is not a portal server?

The Http class in SAP can also be used in passing the required authentication information to the non-SAP portal system.

There is an article written by Angeli Axel which does the same. The article has got ABAP HTTP classes and methods to get and post the parameters to the non-SAP portal system.
The same solution can be done by passing the credentials in the url. The custom solution would be to pass the required credentials in the url and the receiving application should grab those information from the url and confirm the authentication. After that it should be able to provide you the image. After getting the image it can be simply displayed in your BSP using iframe tag.
For eg if the receiving side is in java, then the following code can be used to receive the username and password. Once you get this you can verify the validity depending on the datasource whether LDAP(MS-ADS, Sun one, Novell edirectory) or ordinary database(Oracle, MS SQL Server .. etc) is used for storing the credentials.

Hi,
your BSP page get's integrated via an iFrame. So, simply speaking, it's not possible to pass an parameter back.
But what you can try is to use the Portal DataBag component. In the BSP page, store the information you want to pass in the browser. The iView/Portal than has to check if there is a new parameter / value stored.

Passing data from calling page to popup window

We are developing a BSP application for business card.I need to provide a preview button .
when the user clicks this button a
poopup window should open with the preview of business card.
My problem is how to pass the values like name , designation etc from the main page to popup window.

I was doing something similar...created a controller and a view , was calling the controller from window.open method with all other parameters for sizing etc.

Parameter is not passed correct to BSP in UWL..??

Hi Workflow and Portal Gurus,
i try to call BSP App from a Workitem in UWL, this works fine as far.
now i also pass a Parameter from my apprisal Workitem (Document-ID) -> as ID to the BSP Page, my Problem is that the Parameter is passed but the first 2 charecters in the parameter ID are not passed through...any idea why??
e.g.: Correct parameter: 0123456789, but this Parameter is passed: 23456789 (without 01).

You need to make specific changes in xml file for each task by adding customer parameter.

Call an ABAP Function module on click of Button in BSP page

i would like to run a ABAP function module on click of a button in BSP page.
or in other words i want a Funtion module ex: 'test1' to run after clicking this button ex: 'button1'
and how to pass the values for a function module after clicking the button.
i an new to bsp application .

Triggering a URL to WDJ:
I suppose the URL of WDJ app. is also a portal URL. I assume that from a BSP application inside portal you need to trigger the WDJ url.
But the catch is that you cannot hotcode this URL, since it varies for a development, quality and production systems(diff. portal environments).
To solve this issue, ABAP provides a system variable named sy-sysid, which says want system your ABAP system is, normally a development R/3 system will be associated to development portal system and quality R/3 to quality portal ans so forth.
So you could have a internal table/db table/ variable for dev, quality or prod portal urls and from the bsp on button click based on the value in the sy-sysid you can trigger the url accordingly.
Creating a URL in WDJ
The above is about triggering a WDJ from BSP. But if you dynamically want to create a link in WDJ on a button click, then apparently you could not do that from BSP, since the applications are different. All you could do is to pass some URL parameters to WDJ application from BSP app. Then based on the URL parameters the WDJ application has to dynamically create a link and add it to its application.

Passing Parameter from BSP to BW

Hi,
I need to pass the user input parameters from BSP page to BW Web template. While navigating to BW Web template, i need to bypass the variable screen of BW. Could you guide any approach how to deal this scenario?
I tried passing the parameter through URL, but it doest bypass the variable screen.
Below is the url which m using:

Hi,
If I can remember correctly, there is an option that you set in the Web Application Designer so as to not prompt the variable screen if variables are provided using the Web API.
At the look at the URL you provide, you are using good old BW 3.5 or less
