Passing array into resultset

hi,
is it possible to pass an array into a resultset? if yes please indicate how.
thank you all in advance

Hi,
Sorry for the confusion, here's what I'm trying to accomplish.
I'm trying to create a report in Crystal Report and use Java as data source. My Java application needs to generate some value and pass them to the report as parameters. After some research I've found that I can use a Java Bean class as data source for Crystal Report that returns a ResultSet. Therefore I'm trying to pass some values in my Java app into the Bean class as array and convert them to a ResultSet for Crystal Report.
If you know of a different way please let me know, otherwise, this is what I meant by passing array into resultset.
thanks for your reply,

    i have a xslt in which i am passing some parameter from java there is one parameter which is a array in java which i need to pass becouse array length is not defined so that xslt will work dynakically according to the parameter.
    right now i am passing parameter but not able to send the array parameter that's why my code is not fully dynamic
    please give suggestion.

    it is not possible to pass array by using XSLT, you can wirite all values into a String with certain delim symbol, pass this string, then use xsl.substring() to get different values.

  • Pass array into setAttribute

    Hi
    How can i pass an array of strings into request.setAttribute?
    thanks
    chandra

    Why don't you put it in session and get it anytime you want to use it?
    session.setAttribute("arrayOfStrings", arrayOfStrings);
    and when you want, you can get it from session by:
    session.getAttribute("arrayOfStrings");

    Hello, this is a very basiq question about C language: %c means a single character, while the entire string (up to the first NUL character, of course) requires %s.
    If you have problems at this level yshould consider reading some C manual or at least googling some informations: this is one of the first pages on sprintf that could have clarified your doubts.

  • How to pass 1D array into matlab?

    1 had 2 1-D array
    array1 = 1D array signed 32-bit integer numeric
    array2 = 1D array double-precision floating-point numeric
    how do i pass this 2 arrays to matlab script??
    help....as i'm very new to both labview and matlab.
    thks,lyn

    LabVIEW has a Matlab Script Node (Programs >> Mathematics >> Formula) that you can use to interface between the two programs. To pass arrays into the script node do the following:
    1. Right-click on the left edge and select "Add Input"
    2. Give the input a variable name in the termainal that was created.
    3. Right click on the terminal and select Choose Data Type >> Real Vector.
    You can now wire the 1D array to this terminal. You enter your Matlab Commands as text inside the node and you can create outputs the same way to created inputs.

  • Passing array of Types to java class

    I am trying to pass a user defined type (that is an array) from PL/Sql to a javaclass. Here are the definitions that make-up the parameter to pass from PL/Sql to Java (uri_digest_array):
    CREATE OR REPLACE TYPE uri_digest as object (uri VARCHAR2(256),
    digest_value CLOB);
    CREATE OR REPLACE TYPE uri_digest_array AS VARRAY(10) OF uri_digest;
    In Oracle-land, java classes are published to PL/Sql by way of the following definition. Note that the intent here is to have compatible data-types.
    CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION SIGNRETURNINGXML (p_array IN uri_digest_array)
    RETURN LONG
    AS LANGUAGE JAVA
    NAME 'SignReturningXml.main(oracle.sql.Array) return java.lang.String';
    Here is a fragment of the java class code:
    class SignReturningXml {
    public static String main(String [] [] signItems ) // I have no idea what datatype to use here!
    { . . . . The code in here would process the passed array normally from first entry to last.
    Currently I get the following error:
    PLS-00311: the declaration of
    "SignReturningXml.main(oracle.sql.Array) return
    java.lang.String" is incomplete or malformed
    I could use some suggestions on resolving the datatype conflicts. Any ideas? Has anyone tried this kind of thing?
    Thanks,
    Michael

    Michael,
    At the risk of another [non] useful response, I meant that you should try searching the "Ask Tom" Web site, because usually you will find an answer to your question that has already been asked by someone else. Perhaps these will be helpful:

  • Passing Arrays to the DataGrid Component

    How's it going my peoples? I'm having some difficulties

    Thank you in advance.

    We have Our site build using odp.net but suddenly it stoped working on the production server. MS Provider is working fine in that case. so we want to have one copy of solution with MS provider as backup copy so in future if any failure occurs to odp.net we can use this copy. So for that I need to know how to pass arrays to oracle using MS Provider.

  • Passing array args into stored procs

    Hi,
    we are trying to use TopLink to perform the mapping of a pretty large schema (200+ tables). For the purpose UI presentation we only need a few different view types, not the full information in the schema, so we want to provide specific "view objects" mapped to the DB that can be batch read by their ids.
    Defining views in the DB and mapping these to objects with TopLink doesn't work well because the views require joins and the tables are pretty large (the WHERE IN on the ids of the rows to read from the view is only applied after the entire view is instantiated).
    Alternatively, we are trying to use stored procedures that take a VARRAY or TABLE OF INTEGER as input arg and return respective cursors. However, we couldn't figure out how to pass array infos into a stored proc using TopLink. Any suggestions?
    Thx,
    Olaf

    I believe when you're doing it with an insert, you're saying "execute this insert statement a bunch of times, here's all the values in advance", which is different than passing an array to a stored procedure where you want it to execute once.
    Oracle's ODBC driver doesnt support Associative Arrays (aka index-by tables).
    Hope it helps,
    Greg

  • How can i pass a value in array into .setText()?

    i want to display a value in an array into a JTextField. May i know how to do it?
    eg:
    JTextField UserName;
    UserName.setText(s);
    but it doesn't display the value into the JTextfield.

    ok... is s an array?
    String[] s = {"s1", "s2"};Either you expect 1 value...
    username.setText(s[0]);
    // or
    username.setText(s[1]);Or you expect both:
    StringBuffer sb = new StringBuffer("");
    for(int x = 0; x < s.length; x++) {
       if(x != 0) sb.append(", ");
       sb.append(s[x])
    username.setText(sb.toString());

  • Converting object wrapper type array into equivalent primary type array

    Hi All!
    My question is how to convert object wrapper type array into equivalent prime type array, e.g. Integer[] -> int[] or Float[] -> float[] etc.
    Is sound like a trivial task however the problem is that I do not know the type I work with. To understand what I mean, please read the following code -
    //Method signature
    Object createArray( Class clazz, String value ) throws Exception;
    //and usage should be as follows:
    Object arr = createArray( Integer.class, "2%%3%%4" );
    //"arr" will be passed as a parameter of a method again via reflection
    public void compute( Object... args ) {
        a = (int[])args[0];
    //or
    Object arr = createArray( Double.class, "2%%3%%4" );
    public void compute( Object... args ) {
        b = (double[])args[0];
    //and the method implementation -
    Object createArray( Class clazz, String value ) throws Exception {
         String[] split = value.split( "%%" );
         //create array, e.g. Integer[] or Double[] etc.
         Object[] o = (Object[])Array.newInstance( clazz, split.length );
         //fill the array with parsed values, on parse error exception will be thrown
         for (int i = 0; i < split.length; i++) {
              Method meth = clazz.getMethod( "valueOf", new Class[]{ String.class });
              o[i] = meth.invoke( null, new Object[]{ split[i] });
         //here convert Object[] to Object of type int[] or double[] etc...
         /* and return that object*/
         //NB!!! I want to avoid the following code:
         if( o instanceof Integer[] ) {
              int[] ar = new int[o.length];
              for (int i = 0; i < o.length; i++) {
                   ar[i] = (Integer)o;
              return ar;
         } else if( o instanceof Double[] ) {
         //...repeat "else if" for all primary types... :(
         return null;
    Unfortunately I was unable to find any useful method in Java API (I work with 1.5).
    Did I make myself clear? :)
    Thanks in advance,
    Pavel Grigorenko

    I think I've found the answer myself ;-)
    Never thought I could use something like int.class or double.class,
    so the next statement holds int[] q = (int[])Array.newInstance( int.class, 2 );
    and the easy solution is the following -
    Object primeArray = Array.newInstance( token.getPrimeClass(), split.length );
    for (int j = 0; j < split.length; j++) {
         Method meth = clazz.getMethod( "valueOf", new Class[]{ String.class });
         Object val = meth.invoke( null, new Object[]{ split[j] });
         Array.set( primeArray, j, val );
    }where "token.getPrimeClass()" return appropriate Class, i.e. int.class, float.class etc.

  • JRC with JavaBeans datasrc - how to pass params into javabean.getResultSet?

    Hi.
    I'm developing javabeans data sources for crystal reports for the java/JRC engine.  I've seen the document entitled Javabeans Connectivity for Crystal.  It TALKS ABOUT passing params into the methods that return java.sql.ResultSets but there is absolutely no example code anywhere that I can find on how to do it.
    What I don't understand is:  Since the JRC engine is basically controlling the instantiation of the javabean, other than calling some type of fetch method in the constructor, how the heck am I supposed to pass in db connection info and a sql string?
    Anybody got sample code for how to call/where to call parameters that I would put in a custom getResultSet method??
    Thanks.

    I don't think that a Connection Pool class would be an ideal candidate for becoming a JavaBean. One of the most prevalent use of a JavaBean class it to use it as a data object to collect data from your presentation layer (viz. HTML form) and transfer it to your business layer. If the request parameter names match the Bean's property names, a bean can automatically get these values and initialize itself even though it has a zero argument ctor. Then a Bean could call methods in the business layer to do some processing, to persist itself etc.

  • ORA-00932 when trying to pass ARRAY from Java SP to PL/SQL

    Here's my PL/SQL:

    -- I've also tried .. as TABLE of CLOB and varray/table of VARCHAR2
    declare

    ARRAY ARRSentences = new ARRAY (arrayDesc, conn, arrSentences);

    I have confirmed that the String[] arrSentences contains a valid string array. So the problem seems to be the creation and passing of ARRSentences.
    I have looked at pages and pages of documents and example code, and can't see anything wrong with my declaration of ARRSentences. I'm at a loss to explain what's wrong.

  • Passing Array of java objects to and from oracle database-Complete Example

    Hi all ,
    I am posting a working example of Passing Array of java objects to and from oracle database . I have struggled a lot to get it working and since finally its working , postinmg it here so that it coudl be helpful to the rest of the folks.
    First thinsg first
    i) Create a Java Value Object which you want to pass .
    create or replace and compile java source named Person as
    import java.sql.*;
    import java.io.*;
    public class Person implements SQLData
    private String sql_type = "PERSON_T";
    public int person_id;
    public String person_name;
    public Person () {}
    public String getSQLTypeName() throws SQLException { return sql_type; }
    public void readSQL(SQLInput stream, String typeName) throws SQLException
    sql_type = typeName;
    person_id = stream.readInt();
    person_name = stream.readString();
    public void writeSQL(SQLOutput stream) throws SQLException
    stream.writeInt (person_id);
    stream.writeString (person_name);
    ii) Once you created a Java class compile this class in sql plus. Just Copy paste and run it in SQL .
    you should see a message called "Java created."
    iii) Now create your object Types
    CREATE TYPE person_t AS OBJECT
    EXTERNAL NAME 'Person' LANGUAGE JAVA
    USING SQLData (
    person_id NUMBER(9) EXTERNAL NAME 'person_id',
    person_name VARCHAR2(30) EXTERNAL NAME 'person_name'
    iv) Now create a table of Objects
    CREATE TYPE person_tab IS TABLE OF person_t;
    v) Now create your procedure . Ensure that you create dummy table called "person_test" for loggiing values.
    create or replace
    procedure give_me_an_array( p_array in person_tab,p_arrayout out person_tab)
    as
    l_person_id Number;
    l_person_name Varchar2(200);
    l_person person_t;
    l_p_arrayout person_tab;
    errm Varchar2(2000);
    begin
         l_p_arrayout := person_tab();
    for i in 1 .. p_array.count
    loop
         l_p_arrayout.extend;
         insert into person_test values(p_array(i).person_id, 'in Record '||p_array(i).person_name);
         l_person_id := p_array(i).person_id;
         l_person_name := p_array(i).person_name;
         l_person := person_t(null,null);
         l_person.person_id := l_person_id + 5;
         l_person.person_name := 'Out Record ' ||l_person_name ;
         l_p_arrayout(i) := l_person;
    end loop;
    p_arrayout := l_p_arrayout;
         l_person_id := p_arrayout.count;
    for i in 1 .. p_arrayout.count
    loop
    insert into person_test values(l_person_id, p_arrayout(i).person_name);
    end loop;
    commit;
    EXCEPTION WHEN OTHERS THEN
         errm := SQLERRM;
         insert into person_test values(-1, errm);
         commit;
    end;
    vi) Now finally create your java class which will invoke the pl/sql procedure and get the updated value array and then display it on your screen>Alternatively you can also check the "person_test" tbale
    import java.util.Date;
    import java.io.*;
    import java.sql.*;

    ps.setARRAY( 1, array_to_pass );
         ps.registerOutParameter( 2, OracleTypes.ARRAY,"PERSON_TAB" );
         ps.execute();
         oracle.sql.ARRAY returnArray = (oracle.sql.ARRAY)ps.getArray(2);
    Object[] personDetails = (Object[]) returnArray.getArray();

         catch(Exception SQLe) {
                        System.out.println("IN EXCEPTION BLOCK ");
                        return null;
    and thats it. you are done.
    Hope it atleast helps people to get started. Comments are appreciated. I can be reached at ([email protected]) or [email protected]

    Hi Sunil,
    I've a similar situation where I'm trying to insert Java objects in db using bulk insert. My issue is with performance for which I've created a new thread.
    http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5270260&tstart=30
    I ran into your code and looked into it. You've used the Person object array and directly passing it to the oracle.sql.ARRAY constructor. Just curios if this works, cos my understanding is that you need to create a oracle.sql.STRUCT out of ur java object collection and pass it to the ARRAY constructor. I tried ur way but got this runtime exception.

    oracle.sql.ArrayDescriptor empArrayDescriptor = oracle.sql.ArrayDescriptor.createDescriptor("TT_EMP_TEST",conn);
    ARRAY empArray = new ARRAY(empArrayDescriptor,conn,optionVal);If you visit my thread, u'll see that I'm using STRUCT and then pass it to the ARRAY constructor, which works well, except for the performance issue.
    I'll appreciate if you can provide some information.

  • Passing arrays to procedure

    How can i pass arrays in a procedure as IN parameter
    for eg.
    If I have a procedure which takes an input login id and a input status
         procedure test(loginId IN varchar, status IN varchar)
         -- the procedure does insert and update using the input login id and input status
    Now, suppose i have a bunch of input login ids and a bunch of status, how can i pass the login id and status values as an array to the procedure instead of calling the procedure in a loop?

    This is best done using an object type and collection type, so you can make use of bulk SQL to perform the DML. I've given a short demo below:-
    First your target table...
    SQL> create table my_table ( id number, status varchar2(1) );
    Table created.Now we create an object type ( this defines the record structure for your parameter ). We then create a nested table type (collection) based on this record structure:-
    SQL> create type login_record_ot as object
      2  (  id     number
      3  ,  status varchar2(1)
      4  );
      5  /
    Type created.
