Passing custom variables?

I need to pass a user ID (integer) to an adobe presenter page
and then upon someone passing the quiz, I need to pass that user ID
back to another page. I know that I can choose a pass or fail URL,
but can I pass custom data between my front end app and presenter,
and then get it back? I don't have SCORM support, nor do I know now
to use that. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
P.S. In the environment I am in, I can't use PHP Session
Variables, or any great stuff like that. I have to transfer between
2 different servers, hence trying to use Presenter as the conduit
for my session data.

hmm....I think you would have guessed already that there is
no straight-away solution to this.
The only way I can think of right now is to use
http://www.ostyn.com/standards/scorm/samples/scorm2004testwrapwrap.htm(download
here).
Check out
this
thread as well.
The page won't fulfil your needs compeltely, but its just a
js based html page which gets all the notifications that Presenter
would have sent to a SCORM 2004 based LMS.
Hence you can setup a system which launches this pages (and
hence presenter inside it) with the login-id as parameter. Then on
passing the quiz a piece of plugged in code (in SCORM emulator) can
call back your original server with the login id and possibly the
user grade.
I have never tried it myself, but it should work out. Do
share your experience.

    Hi Sutrtha,
    Yeah I got the pop up asking to select the variables used, I have selected ENTITY_ID that was used by the interfaces, but on execution of the package the Scenario did not work as the passeed variable #ENTITY_ID is set to 0 instead of the value I am passing.
    Am I missing something?

  • Can we pass Custom Varaiables from COD to CRM?

    We are defining Custom Variables within the Call Flow. One can access the $ANI variable in the Call Detail Page. On the same Line, We would like to access the Custom Variables defined in the Call Flow wtihin CRM. Is this Possible? We dont want to use any Web Servcies though. If so, how?

    Dave,
    In COD under the Company there's the CRM Integration tab. One of the options there is Custom Tab. Does that do anything? I tried putting a test page in there in a custom tab and nothing happened.
    If it did work, couldn't you pass a custom variable (or at least a paramater) to a web page. The admin manual seems to state that you can pass a parameter to a web page. Appendix C and E.

  • Passing Captivate variables to Flash widget

    Hello,
    I'm developing a simple progress bar widget in Flash to add to a Captivate course I'm building.  I believe what I want to do is very simple, but I appear to be missing something.
    Quick synopsis:
    I have created a variable in Captivate 5.5 called intProgress which should be a percentage of a student's progress through the course. I set this manually via an Advanced Action upon entering the slide.
    I've also created a Progress Bar widget in Flash 5.5.  It consists of nothing more than a manual progress bar component in Flash.
    I want to feed that intProgress value from Captivate into my Flash widget, and have the progress bar update accordingly.
    Here is my function (aPb is my progress bar) -
    function courseProgress(intPercentage)
              aPb.setProgress(intPercentage, 100)
    And here is how I am trying to pass the variable over:
    courseProgress(MovieClip(root).intProgress);
    It doesn't look like the variable is coming across from Captivate to the widget.  How can I correctly do this?
    Please let me know what I'm doing wrong and/or what I'm missing here.
    Thanks for any help anyone can provide!
    Daniel

    Cool - I've found out how to access my custom variable thanks to your help.  Right now, I'm using a simple text field as a debug (instead of the progress bar) just until I get everything sorted out.
    In the cpSetValue function of the widget, I tested with the slide name variable you provided first:
    myText.text = "label:" + m_VariableHandle.cpInfoCurrentSlideLabel;
    And then progressed onward to my custom variable.
    myText.text = "prog:" + m_VariableHandle.intProgress; (my custom variable)
    So I have full connection to those, they're reading perfectly.  That m_VariableHandle is giving me the connection I need (good to know for the future).
    They're just not getting updated.  It just keep showing the values for the first slide - for both the SlideLabel and the custom variable. So now my trouble lies not in the reading of the variable, but the updating of it - to get the most current value.  That's a step forward though, very happy about that.
    To answer your question - yes, I'm doing a variable modification on every slide enter.  I'll set my intProgress variable to 5, then maybe 10 on the next slide, then 15, etc.  It's very important that I set that manually, as my project is not linear.  In other words, there may be a trail of 10 slides later on that are a "side" branch - and not part of the course progression.
    So, thanks again for your help. I'm a whole lot closer than I was before!

  • How to pass environment variables in Host file

    Hi Gurus,
    I'm having a requirement where I need to send my report output file as an attachment to customer. I achieved this by using host program and connecting to db server by using ftp. I am placing my output file in db server. From there onwards by using pl/sql scripts I am sending output file as attachment. The program is working fine for me no issues.
    Now in this program i am hardcoding ip number, user name of Ip and pwd of ip. Our client don't want all those info needs to be displayed in the host(.prog) FILE.
    For this i've written all variables in the .env file. But the .prog file triggers from application server. And I've written my variables in .env file which is in db server(different ip). When I am reading these values in the .prog it is throwing error saying the .env does not exists in the application server. Which is true since this is residing at db server.
    Please help me how can i pass global variables to this .prog file. Remeber that I am able to send output file by hardcoding user name and password.
    Appreciate your help in advance.
    Regards,
    Nagendra

    Hi Hussain,
    Thanks for your reply.
    My requirment is not related to the apps password. I know the four parameters which we can default, my requirement is further ahead.
    In my host program I am connecting to db server. As it is evident .prog file runs from appl server. I need to transfer file from appl server to db server. For that I want to use global variables kind. Like if I write in .env file then I can use that parameters in across all the programs. But what I've seen from instance is that my .env file resides in db server means if i want to initialize those global variables i need to connect db server then only I can connect.
    Now I need to use global variables in appl server where I don't have any .env file at this level. If say parameters through program we can pass but it is password of db server which I need to secure from users and rest others for that I need to declare global variables at appl server level. How is that possible.
    The threads I've checked them already those are related to passing parameters which is possible but my requirement is to pass parameter which is hidden and through programatically it has to trigger in to the program. If my program is pure shell file and resides and db server then no issues. Here the complexity is that .prog file resides in appl server and I want to do transfer from appl server to db server.
    Thaks for your patience.
    Regards,
    Nagendra

  • How to add custom variable on approval form?

    Hi,
    I am tring to do multi-level approval for the role assignment using my custom approval form.
    For that i have created a WF and this workflow calls approval subprocess which intern uses the Custom Approval form.
    In WF i am passing newly selected role as variable to my Approval Subprocess. Now Approval Subprocess assigns this to the first level manager by displaying this new role on approval form. Manager1 is able to see this new role and approves role assignment.
    Now this Role has Approver(Which was defined during the role definition). so it automatically goes to RoleApprover for approval using custom Approval form. Now the problem is i am not able to see my custom variable value in the Approval form for RoleApprover. its showing it as null. But where is in case of manager approval it is showing.
    Can anyone through somelight on this to display a WF variable(newrole) in Approval form.
    The one reason that i could think of is RoleApprover approval process is triggered by Configurator as WFOWNER hence all the session variables are killed.Is there any workaround?
    I appreciate your help.
    Thanks
    Kris

    I got the solution, using the session. Thank you.

  • How do I pass a variable from edge animate to an external JS?

    I need to pass a variable value from Edge Animate to an external JS file. How can I do it?

    Not sure if this is the best way ,but works
    Set the variable as a property of a global variable
    Like
    SET
    window.myVar = 'your value';
    AdobeEdge.myVar = 'your value';
    Read
    window.myVar
    AdobeEdge.myVar

  • How do i pass a variable in flex

    i've been looking all over google for how to pass a variable yet
    i've come up empty handed
    i have a C code and as3
    i've never been able to get a C program to compile on my own, this is from a tutorial im trying to understand about raycasting
    from what i can gather i think that the variables are passed threw this
    #######raycaster.c##########
    AS3_Val loop( void* self, AS3_Val args )
        AS3_ArrayValue(args,"IntType,IntType,IntType,IntType",&K_UP,&K_DOWN,&K_LEFT,&K_RIGHT);
        CastRay();
        int opos,j,i,jpos;
        for(j=0; j < resY; j++ ){
            jpos = resX*j;
            for(i=0; i < resX; i++ ){
                opos = (jpos+i);
                tBuffer[opos] = buffer[i][j];
            }//end of for
        }//end of for
        return 0;
    }//end of loop
    however not one of the values inside of AS3_ArrayValue is to be found on the Main.as
    this is the only function that comunicates with the C code, but i could be wrong
    ####Main.as######
            private function enterFrame(event:Event):void {

                alchemyMemory.position=alcScreenBufferPointer;
                screenBitmapData.setPixels(screenBitmapData.rect,alchemyMemory);
    the reason i want to do this, other than to know how, because that would be useful above all else, i've already written a as3 that comunicates with php
    to get a array of images  for a topdown game, and i wouldn't know how to load these variables to C from a HTTP request but if i can get flash to tell c what they are then every thing worked out
    heres both codes in full

    RadioactiveLizard, you need adobe alchemy (http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/alchemy/) to compile the C code to a swc,
    not pass variables to C directly.

  • Passing CPM variable value to BW report/query

    Is it possible to pass CPM variable values from SEM scorecard to BW supporting reports.

    Not sure if this is what you are looking for, but it's my first thought of what I would try:
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/documents/a1-8-4/3.0b report-report interface.pdf

  • LoadVars-using send to pass a variable from flash to php

    For the life of me, I've tried everything:
    I've researched LoadVars on Adobe forum, used David Powers'
    books, googled 'flash to php', LoadVars, etc. and tried
    sendAndLoad, send, and using $_POST, $_GET, $_REQUEST.
    $HTTP_POSTVARS but I keep getting this same error. any advice
    please?
    I have a Unix server running Apache/PHP 4 - LoadVars worked
    to load name-value pairs into an array -see thread)
    My goal with this simple app is to prototype being able to
    pass a variable from flash to a variable in php.
    Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_VARIABLE in
    flash_to_SQL.php on line 5
    Actionscript 2.0 code:
    var c :LoadVars = new LoadVars();
    c.testing = "123FOUR";
    c.send ("
    http://127.0.0.1/flash_to_SQL.php","_self","POST");
    php code: (I also tried $_POST, $_GET, $_REQUEST.
    $HTTP_POSTVARS)
    <?php
    //mysql 4.1.2, php 4 , NO mysqli
    ecbo $_REQUEST ['testing'];
    /?>

    var formData:LoadVars = new LoadVars();
    formData.fname = "Name";
    formData.send("
    http://www.website.com/flash_php.php",
    formData, "POST");
    <?php
    $name = $_POST['fname'];
    echo $name;
    ?>

  • How to pass session variable value with GO URL to override session value

    Hi Gurus,
    We have below requirement.Please help us at the earliest.
    How to pass session variable value with GO URL to override session value. ( It is not working after making changes to authentication xml file session init block creation as explained by oracle (Bug No14372679 : which they claim it is fixed in 1.7 version  Ref No :Bug 14372679 : REQUEST VARIABLE NOT OVERRIDING SESSION VARIABLE RUNNING THRU A GO URL )
    Please provide step by step solution.No vague answers.
    I followed below steps mentioned.
    RPD:
    ****-> Created a session variable called STATUS
    -> Create Session Init block called Init_Status with SQL
        select 'ACTIVE' from dual;
    -> Assigned the session variable STATUS to Init block Init_Status
    authenticationschemas.xml:
    Added
    <RequestVariable source="url" type="informational"
    nameInSource="RE_CODE" biVariableName="NQ_SESSION.STATUS"/>
    Report
    Edit column "Contract Status" and added session variable as
    VALUEOF(NQ_SESSION.STATUS)
    URL:
    http://localhost:9704/analytics/saw.dll?PortalGo&Action=prompt&path=%2Fshared%2FQAV%2FTest_Report_By%20Contract%20Status&RE_CODE='EXPIRED'
    Issue:
    When  I run the URL above with parameter EXPIRED, the report still shows for  ACTIVE only. The URL is not making any difference with report.
    Report is picking the default value from RPD session variable init query.
    could you please let me know if I am missing something.

  • Need a fast answer... passing javascript variable to jsp page (how to use)

    This test application has 3 frames.
    I'm assigning a value "stuff" to a variable ("testfield1") in a javascript function ("getTest") that exists inside an html frame (testpage1.html)
    Then, I click on the "test submit" hypertext link to pass the value of "testfield1" to the JSP frame (testpage2.jsp) by invoking a function ("getData") in "testpage2".
    In function ("getData"), I am passing the variable "testfield1" as a parameter to the "getData" function in "testpage2".
    In "testpage2" - in the ("getData" function) I try to assign the value of the variable "testfield1" to another variable called "testfld1".
    Then, I try to extract the value of "testfld1" into a variable called "tstfld1" in a JSP scriptlet
    ....I.E. [ String tstfld1  = request.getParameter("testfld1");  ]
    But, the value is apparently not passed successfully, as tstfield1 appears to be "null".
    Can anyone explain what I'm doing incorrectly?
    The code for this test app is below...

              <P> testfld1 = <%= tstfld1 %> </P>
         </body>
    </html>

    parent.frames[2].getData(testfield1); is in testpage1.html
    so in the document.pageData.testfld1.value = testfield1; document = testpage1.html( not testpage2.html)
    modifying the getData to accept the document object, and refering this object to parent.frames[2].document may help you.
    good Luck ....

  • Passing Session variable of DATE data type to opaque view filter

    Hi Everyone,
    Can you guys please help me in passing session variable of DATE data type in RPD's physical layer 'opaque view' filter for Oracle database
    I tried following syntax, syntax wise I didn't got getting any error, but at the same time this opaque view is not fetching any records as well. my session variable is "END_DATE" and its value is 1998/12/31:00:00:00(as shown in RPD session windows, datatype is DATETIME)
    SELECT AMOUNT_SOLD, CHANNEL_ID, CUST_ID, PROD_ID, PROMO_ID, QUANTITY_SOLD, TIME_ID FROM SH.SALES
    WHERE TIME_ID =TO_DATE( 'VALUEOF(NQ_SESSION.END_DATE)','MM/DD/YYYY')
    SELECT AMOUNT_SOLD, CHANNEL_ID, CUST_ID, PROD_ID, PROMO_ID, QUANTITY_SOLD, TIME_ID FROM SH.SALES
    WHERE TIME_ID = TO_DATE( 'VALUEOF(NQ_SESSION."END_DATE")','MM/DD/YYYY')
    SELECT AMOUNT_SOLD, CHANNEL_ID, CUST_ID, PROD_ID, PROMO_ID, QUANTITY_SOLD, TIME_ID FROM SH.SALES
    WHERE TRUNC(TIME_ID) = TO_DATE( 'VALUEOF(NQ_SESSION."END_DATE")','MM/DD/YYYY')
    In past, I was able to pass a session variable into a opaque view filter using DATEOF function, but that was in DB2.
    I appreciate your time and help

    Finally, I got right format. here it is
    to_date(substr('valueof(NQ_SESSION.END_DATE)',1,10), 'yyyy-mm-dd')
    and here is the source from where I got this information

  • How to pass a variable from one class to another class?

    Hi,
    Is it possible to pass a variable from one class to another? For e.g., I need the value of int a for calculation purpose in method doB() but I get an error <identifier> expected. What does the error mean? I know, it's a very, very simple question but once I learn this, I promise to remember it forever. Thank you.
    class A {
      int a;
      int doA() {
          a = a + 1;
          return a;
    class B {
      int b;
      A r = new A();
      r.a;  // error: <identifier> expected. What does that mean ?
      int doB() {
         int c = b/a;  // error: operator / cannot be applied to a
    }Thank you!

    elaine_g wrote:
    I am wondering why does (r.a) give an error outside the method? What's the reason it only works when used inside the (b/r.a) maths function? This is illegal syntax:
    class B {
      int b;
      A r = new A();
      r.a;  //syntax error
    }Why? Class definition restricts what you can define within a class to a few things:
    class X {
        Y y = new Y(); //defining a field -- okay
        public X() { //defining a constructor -- okay
        void f() { //defining a method -- okay
    }... and a few other things, but you can't just write "r.a" there. It also makes no sense -- that expression by itself just accesses a field and does nothing with it -- why bother?
    This is also illegal syntax:
    int doB() {
          A r = new A();
          r.a;  // error: not a statement
    }Again, all "r.a" does on its own is access a field and do nothing with it -- a "noop". Since it has no effect, writing this indicates confusion on the part of the coder, so it classified as a syntax error. There is no reason to write that.
