Passing Data to flex IFrame url

I am using Iframe for flex developed by Christophe Coenraets for embedding html in my flex application.Is there a way i can pass request parameters to the iframe url.Initially i was using naviagateToURL to redirect to HTML page and was passing data to the html page using UrlRequest,But due to business requirement i need to embed the html page in my application.I need to know how i can pass data to iFrame on load.I need to send data via POST method since it may be a huge data.
Regards
Sidd

For small data, use the <params ...> tag in the object declaration in HTML.
For large data you need to use RemoteObject. If you use PHP you need AMFPHP to communicate with Flex for example.

• Passing data and command in url of the page

Hi,
I have a developed a page which has material as input field on first page
now on press of button on that page ,it feteches the data related to that material in the input processing of that page and display output on other page.
now i want to display out directly ,supressing the first page.
so is there a way where i can pass data + command (button press) in the url of that page so it will execute on i/p processing of this page directly and displays the o/p on other page.
for eg... ?matnr=x.....(what to write for button click so it executes on i/p processing directly)
Remember my code for fetching the data is on the first page in input processing,so i need to call this page itself.

Hi Sushi,
I wouldn't do it quite the way you are - I would only build one page.
Make MATNR an auto page attribute. Then in onInitialization you can test
if MATNR is not initial.
and then fetch the data.
In the layout you can either display the input field, call it MATNR, and any error messages from the fetch data code or if the data was fetched okay display the results.
Now you can call the page with ?matnr=X and it will work.

• Is it possible to pass data from Flex to BlazeDS/POJO as a stream?

Is it possible to make a remote call to a remote Java object that uses BlazeDS so that the data is gotten as a stream (InputStream)? For example when uploading a file, it would require less memory.
The BlazeDS examples about file upload that I've seen read the data from file to client memory first with FileReference#load() and after that pass it to the server as ByteArray. By doing so, both client and server need to load the whole file data into memory before it can be passed/processed.
Thanks.

Thanks for the tip Joe.
It's not quite what I was looking for, but it gave me some ideas.
The blog post describes how to create your own server to handle the file stream. With BlazeDS & Java EE app server there's no need to implement the low level stuff.
One option would be to read the data on Flex side in chunks and make a request to send each chunk at a time, but I don't know whether this helps at all. Might just slow down the network.
Another option is to write a custom adapter for BlazeDS endpoint, but I don't know enough details on this to say is it possible or not.
Third option is to use regular servlet code and Apache Commons FileUpload module.
Still interested hearing opinions from people working with BlazeDS.

• Pass Data between flex and livecycle

Hi ,
I am unable to downlaod a file from the server using flex's
filereference.download api .
Attached simple program to pass/upload a file to livecycle
server and convert it to a pdf. The livecycle process returns the
file.
My flex application downloads the file however, the file
content is just 1 kb. The content seems to be the filepath in the
server (e.g. c:\tmp\TestDoc[3].pdf).
The livecycle process takes inDoc and fileName as parameter
and returns outDoc and fileName.
any help would be greatly appreciated.

• How to pass dates as parameters in GO URL?

Hi,
Can we pass date values as parameters in GO URL?
I have a date column in my source report that I would like to pass as filter parameter to target reports via GO URL. Could you please let me know the correct syntax if this is possible?

How can i convert the CHAr to date in the target?? I am using the below syntax and it is receiving a value of 20-JUL-2011.
'<a href="http://sunt2000-10.wfs.com:9704/analytics/saw.dll?GO&path=/shared/WFS%20Financials/WFS%20Business%20Aviation/WFS%20Business%20Aviation%20Retail%20Volume&Action=Navigate&P0=1&P1=eq&P2="WFS%20Day%20Date"."Calendar%20Date"&P3=' || CAST("WFS Day Date"."Calendar Date" AS CHAR) || ' ">QTY(USG)'
I need to convert this as a DATE when navigating to a different page to pass as a parameter.

• How to pass data between views using Flex for mobile?

Hi,
In my 1st view, I have set of images. Each image represents a product category. When I click on an image, it has to show my 2nd view which is a list. This should show all the products linked to this category.
I saw few examples where the 1st view is a list. Select an item in a list shows the details in the next view.
But what I need is, I need to know which image is clicked in my 1st view (ie) Home page. This id needs to be passed to my 2nd view to retrieve the data for the clicked image (clicked product category).
Can anyone help me in this?

Chellaa2011,
If I understand you correctly, you can pass data to the next view by passing the second parameter to the pushView method.
check out: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/FlashPlatform/reference/actionscript/3/spark/components/ViewNa vigator.html#pushView()
I've written similar apps in the past and found that a singleton class alleviates some of these issues. If you use a singleton to track currently selections all your views can access the same data without having to pass and return data from each other.
Hope this helps,
KLee

I am trying to call the WDA URL using the class CL_GUI_FRONTEND_SERVICES in BSP,but it is giving a run time error.
How to call the WDA URL from the classes in BSP & not using iFrame ?
Thanks,
Krishna

Hi Raja,
Can u pls tell the class which the object navigation->goto_page( url ) refers to.
My main requirement is to call the WDA URL from a class in BSP Application.
Since there is no GUI connection i'll be not able to use class CL_GUI_FRONTEND_SERVICES.
So i need a class which will call URL before passing data.
Thanks for the same,

• Iframe url param

Is iframe url param has limit? because IE is throw error page
can't display. firefox work fine.

i assume you have 2 managed beans that are in request scope. one bean for the overview page, one for the details page.
overview page:
create the link with the h:outputlink component which has one nested h:outputtext (the link text) and several nested f:param components. that means, you write one f:param for every parameter you want to pass to your details page. in your example, this would be only the id.
... so now you click the link ...
details page:
the id-parameter is available in the field "myId" in your details bean via this entry in faces-config.xml:
<managed-bean>
<managed-bean-name>details</managed-bean-name>
<managed-bean-class>com.DetailsBean</managed-bean-class>
<managed-bean-scope>request</managed-bean-scope>
<managed-property>
<property-name>myId</property-name>
<value>#{param.id}</value>
</managed-property>
</managed-bean>In DetailsBean, first you have to retrieve the data from the database. This could be done in the constructor or in a method annotated with @PostConstruct.
Also, save the id in a h:inputhidden. You will need the id again in the next step.
... now the user edits the data and presses submit ...
(All Parameters are lost at this point.) In your action, read the id from the h:inputhidden field. Now you have everything to update your database entry.

• Report with Form Passing date to form from report issue

Hi All ,
I got stuck up in the below issue .Can anyone point out the issue behind it and how to get rid of this.
I have created a report page with form page .The report page have 2 column identified as conjugate primary key.the col1 is varchar2 and col2 is date .
The report page have one link on col1 field which is passing the Item_value for both col1 and col2 to form page .
In the DB level the col2 data type is date (for e.g : 26/07/2007 07:08:56) .But the probem is when we are clicking on the link of col1 it is displaying error like Error like ORA-01403: no data found .
But if the data in DB is only in format of DD/MM/YYYY removing the timestmap the link is working fine and returing data for other fields in the form page .
Could anyone pls pointed out the problem and let us know the issue.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Deba

Hi Deba,
I suppose your problem is due to the : in the time.
You're passing these values with the url I suppose? Have a look how APEX generates/constructs the url, it uses : to separate things.
I'm not sure why you want a date in a Primary Key?
Thanks,
Dimitri

• How can I pass data from a form guide to another form in a business process

How do we pass data from a form guide to another form(not necessarily a guide) without having to open the form. For example we have a small form guide to capture the contract id so we can then get data from contracts table to present to the user in a form. We want the user to open the guide (either Flex guide or form guide) to enter the contract id. Upon submission we want the process to get the contract data and put it into the form that will be opened at the next step by the user without having a user interact with the form to get the data into it. In other words we need the process to get the data and populate a different form than the form guide the contract id was entered in and this new form needs to be opened in the next step by the user.

Firstly, I'm assuming that you have a Forms ES Server if you are rendering a Guide. This could be either version ES1, ES2/2.5 or ES3/ADEP
If you submit the form back to the server, you can populate a second (PDF/XDP) form with the data bound to the same schema/Data Model using Forms ES.
You referred to the next user in the chain - If you are using Process Management, this is very easy, as you define what form is used to render the data in the "Presentation & Data" section of the Assign Task activity

• Passing data from an XML object to an itemRenderer

I'm trying to color the background of a column in a datagrid and have found a sample file that illustrate the concept. However, the sample has data stored in an arrayCollection whereas mine is in an XML object. The problem is that the data in the sample file is apparently automatically passed to the itemRenderer (shown below: note the trace statement). My XML object does not appear to automatically pass data to the itemRenderer. So my questions are:
1. Is there a simple way to pass data stored in an XML object to an itemRenderer
or
2. Should I convert my XML to an arrayCollection? If so, what's the best way to do this-- I've tried the following, but without success:
<mx:Model id="xmldata" source="example3.xml"/>
<mx:ArrayCollection id="myAC" source="{ArrayUtil.toArray(xmldata.Example1)}" />
Here's what the xml looks like:

<EXAMPLE1>
<difficulty> 0.5 </difficulty>
<discrimination> 0.7 </discrimination>

3

</EXAMPLE1>

Here's the itemRenderer:

<mx:Label xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml">

<mx:Script>

import flash.geom.Matrix;
import flash.display.GradientType;
import flash.display.Graphics;
override protected function updateDisplayList(unscaledWidth:Number, unscaledHeight:Number):void
super.updateDisplayList(unscaledWidth,unscaledHeight);
var m:Matrix = new Matrix();
m.createGradientBox(unscaledWidth,unscaledHeight);
var g:Graphics = graphics;
trace("data.col3="+data.col3)
var colors:Array = (data.col3 < 2000 ? [0x0000CC,0x0000FF] : [0x00CC00,0x00FF00]);
g.clear();
g.beginGradientFill(GradientType.LINEAR, colors, [0.2,0.6], [0,255], m);
// the rectangle is drawn a little high and a little tall to compensate for the gap
// the DataGrid introduces between rows.
g.drawRect(0, -2, unscaledWidth, unscaledHeight+4 );
g.endFill();

</mx:Script>
</mx:Label>

This sample code should answer your question of how to bring data into the renderer automatically. It comes in via the DataGrid dataProvider and then you refer to it in the renderer as data.XYZ, where XYZ is the field in the XML with the data. See FB 3 help sys on e4x syntax.

• Passing data from a container to another

Hi,
Let's say I have two containers (Container1=application , Container2). Container1 gets some data from user, perform some database lookup and displays Container2 with the results from database lookup.
Container1 --(call and display)--> Container2
Below shows how I am using a bindable variable in Container1 to pass the data from Container1 to Container2. Also shows how I display Container2 from Container1.

<mx:Application xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml">
[Bindable] public var foo:String = "bar";
private function loginHandler(event:LoginEvent):void
mycontainer2 = new Container2();
mycontainer2.name = "mycontainer2";
this.addChild(mycontainer2);
</mx:Application>
I am accessing the data in Container2 as follow:

{mx.core.Application.application.foo}
Q1) Is there a better way to pass data from one container to another and access the data?
Q2) Is this the only way to call and display Container2 from Container1?
Q3) How can I move back to Container1 from Container2, i.e. Container2 call and display Container1
Container2 --(back to)--> Container1

Best practices call for using custom events to share data between components. Here is my Flex 3 Cookbook post on the topic:
http://cookbooks.adobe.com/index.cfm?event=showdetails&postId=15466
To switch easily between containers 1 & 2 use a ViewStack, the gold standard for such interaction, and manipulate the selectedIndex or selectedChild property:

• Passing data to multiple screens through SAP webgui;

Hello, I'm working on building an application that requires me to pass data to multiple screens of a SAP transaction (IW31) through SAP webgui. The requirement is to enter the required information in the initial screen, "Header data" screen and in the "Object Data" screen. I'm using the below URL to launch the webgui:
http://myserver:8001/sap/bc/gui/sap/its/webgui/!?sap-client=800&sap-user=xxx&sap-password=yyy&sap-language=EN&transaction=iw31%20CAUFVD-EQUNR=20006001&AUFPAR-PM_AUFART=PM01&CAUFVD-GSBER=0001&OKCODE=/00&CAUFVD-ILART=103&~OKCODE==IOLU
This is failing with the following error message:
*Flow control: Entry SAPLCOIH, IOLU, A0, * , * , * is missing in T185*
I also noticed that if I stop at the point where I enter information in the initial screen and enter into the header data page using the below URL, it is working fine. The URL used is
http://myserver:8001/sap/bc/gui/sap/its/webgui/!?sap-client=800&sap-user=xxx&sap-password=yyy&sap-language=EN&transaction=iw31%20CAUFVD-EQUNR=20006001&AUFPAR-PM_AUFART=PM01&CAUFVD-GSBER=0001&OKCODE=/00
Can anyone please explain what is incorrect in the URL I'm passing?
Thanks in advance

Hi Vijay,
Thank you for your prompt response but I do not understand your answer or perhaps I am not makig myself clear.
Let me explain the current process:
1) Z program collects data and exports to Memory ID 'TEST01'.
2) Z program calls SAP program
3) SAP program calls User Exit '001' and data is read from Memory ID 'TEST01'.
4) SAP program collects some of the data and then executes SAP FM to continue processing.
5) SAP FM Executes User Exit for FM and data is read from Memory ID 'TEST01'.
6) SAP FM returns completed data back to SAP main program.
7) Z Program collects results from SAP program.
New process:
1) Z program collects data and exports to Memory ID 'TEST01'. Data now includes filter for CC.
2) Z program calls SAP program
3) SAP program calls User Exit '001' and data is read from Memory ID 'TEST01'.
4) SAP program collects some of the data and then executes SAP FM IN PARALLEL PROCESSING to continue processing.
5) SAP FM Executes User Exit for FM and an attempt to read data is read from Memory ID 'TEST01' fails.
6) SAP FM returns completed data back to SAP main program.
7) Z Program collects results from SAP program.
The dilemma is how to capture the proper CC filter in the FM exit when SAP is unable to read the data from memory ID 'TEST01'. I guess I can understand this since the tasks are executed in separate sessions and servers from the one that started the program since we are using a server group.
Perhaps I am missing something with respect to exporting to memory IDs?
Thanks.
