Passing date value

Dear all,
using java improter i had imported one in oracle forms. in program unit i found this procedure which i need to call
PROCEDURE setStartDate(
obj ORA_JAVA.JOBJECT,
a0 ORA_JAVA.JOBJECT) IS
BEGIN
args := JNI.CREATE_ARG_LIST(1);
JNI.ADD_OBJECT_ARG(args, a0, 'java/util/Date');
JNI.CALL_VOID_METHOD(FALSE, obj, 'com/yash/exchange/Task', 'setStartDate', '(Ljava/util/Date;)V', args);
END;
i think i shoud pass 2 parameters when calling this procedure. each is of ora_java.jobject datatype. a0 in java class was representing the start date which means its a date datatype. so how can i pass a value of date datatype in this parameter?

i think i should pass a date as a string. so what is the formate of the date to be sent?
