Passing form parameters to another form in another frame

I want to have a frameset with the form entries in the top frame and the submit button in the bottom frame. I think the weay to do it is to use javascript to copy the top form parameters over to hidden variables in the bottom form (the one with the submit button). Can someone help me with the javascript (or general approach)
I'm tryuing something like the following: The javescript has errors, though...
<!-- iframe.jsp -->
<frameset rows="*,100">
<frame name="frame1" src="frame1.jsp">
<frame name="frame2" src="frame2.jsp">
</frameset>
<!-- frame1.jsp -->
<form name="form1" method="post">
<input type="text" name="param1"><br>
<input type="text" name="param2">
</form>
<!-- frame2.jsp -->
<html>
<HEAD>
<ScRiPt>
function getValues()
document.frame1.form[mainform].param2 = document.frame1.form[form1].param1;
document.frame2.form[mainform].param2 = document.frame1.form[form1].param2;
</SCRIPT>
</HEAD>
<body>
<form method=post name="mainform" onsubmit="getValues()" action="process.jsp" target="_parent">
<input type="hidden" name="param1">
<input type="hidden" name="param2">
<input type=submit name=submit value=submit>
</form>
</body>
</html>
<!-- process.jsp -->
param1 = <%=request.getParameter("param1")%><br>
param2 = <%=request.getParameter("param2")%><br><br>
click here to go back

I figured it out. The following worked.
ifram.jsp and process.jsp unchanged...
<!-- frame1.jsp -->
<form name="form1" method="post" action="process.jsp" target="_parent">
<input type="text" name="param1"><br>
<input type="text" name="param2">
</form>
<!-- frame2.jsp -->
<html>
<HEAD>
<ScRiPt>
function frame2()
parent.frames.frame1.document.form1.submit();
</SCRIPT>
</HEAD>
<body>
<form method=post name="mainform" >
<input type=submit name=submit value=submit onclick="frame2()">
</form>
</body>
</html>

  • Pass Checkbox Parameters from HTML Form to a stored procedure

    I'm still looking for a solution to my forms problem. FYI, I'm not using Applications Express to build my application--I'm using straight PL/SQL. I need to know how to pass checkbox parameters from my Web form. I'm allowing folks to select one or more checkboxes on a form that will call a delete function to delete the selected records. What I read in Oracle's "Database Application Developer's Guide - Fundamentals" isn't helpful to me. If someone would point me to some examples, maybe I could see what I'm doing wrong. Here's what was written in "Database Application Developer's Guide - Fundamentals":
    All the checkboxes with the same NAME attribute make up a checkbox group. If none of the checkboxes in a group is checked, the stored procedure receives a null value for the corresponding parameter.
    If one checkbox in a group is checked, the stored procedure receives a single VARCHAR2 parameter.
    If more than one checkbox in a group is checked, the stored procedure receives a parameter with the PL/SQL type TABLE OF VARCHAR2. You must declare a type like this, or use a predefined one like OWA_UTIL.IDENT_ARR. To retrieve the values, use a loop:
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE handle_checkboxes ( checkboxes owa_util.ident_arr )
    AS
    BEGIN
    FOR i IN 1..checkboxes.count
    LOOP
    htp.print('&lt;p&gt;Checkbox value: ' || checkboxes(i));
    END LOOP;
    END;
    SHOW ERRORS;

    I'm not sure I understand what your issue is.
    If your web form has the following checkboxes defined all with the same name:
    <input type="checkbox" name="attrib" value="1">one</input>
    <input type="checkbox" name="attrib" value="2">two</input>
    <input type="checkbox" name="attrib" value="3">three</input>Then you would create and register a procedure to handle the form submission that has a parameter with the name attrib of type owa_util.ident_arr e.g.:
    create or replace procedure handle_form(attrib owa_util.ident_arr) as
      iter number;
    begin
      for iter in attrib.first .. attrib.last loop
        -- do something with attrib(iter)
      end loop;
    end;
    /Now the one problem with this handler (or any form handler for that matter) is that if the user selects none of the check boxes, or no value for any of the expected parameters, the handler would be called with some parameters missing or with out any parameters passed to it, and the call will error out.
    To get around that you need to provide default values for all the parameters passed to your handler including the ident_arr parameters, however with ident_arr parameters that's difficult to do with standalone procedures. If you place your procedure in a package you can define package level variables of the appropriate types that can be used as default values:
    create or replace package my_web as
      empty_arr owa_util.ident_arr;
      procedure handle_form(attrib owa_util.ident_arr := empty_arr);
    end my_web;
    create or replace package body my_web as
      procedure handle_form(attrib owa_util.ident_arr := empty_arr) as
        iter number;
      begin
        for iter in attrib.first .. attrib.last loop
          -- do something with attrib(iter)
        end loop;
      end;
    end my_web;
    /now when you hit the situation where the user doesn't select any check boxes, the call to handle_form won't err out due to missing parameters, and the empty_arr won't have any elements to iterate over so the loop in the procedure body will be fine and you will be able to retrieve each selected check box value from the attrib array when you iterate over it.

  • Passing application parameters to 9i forms

    We recently converted our Forms 6 forms to 9i, on Solaris. We recompiled them on AIX and got them running, except that I have trouble figuring out how to pass application parameters. We passed the parameters on the run-form command line in our olf forms.
    In 9i, I tried passing the parameter through the URL; I also tried assigning the the parameter values in formsweb.cfg. Does baseHTML need to be involved in this?
    Also Oracle does not certify that forms 9i for AIX. Does anyone know of any problem running on AIX.

    Clayton,
    do you mean custom parameters when saying application parameters?
    if you application contains custom parameters that are passed when starting the Forms, then this can be added using the otherparams parameter.
    E.g.
    otherparams=usesdi=yes myparam1=foo myparam2=foo2
    The other params parameter can be set in the formsweb.cfg file (forms90/server) globally for all applications or individual for a single application. If you need to pass custom parameters in the URL then it could be done more nicely if you specify the following in the formsweb.cfg file
    otherparams=usesdi=%usesdi% myparam1=%myparam1% myparam2=%myparam2%
    In the request URL you would request the application by
    .../forms90/f90servlet?config=myApp&usesdi=yes&myparam1=12&myparam2=hello
    "myApp" would be a named configuration in the formsweb.cfg file like:
    [myApp]
    form=myEmp
    userid=scott/tiger@orcl
    lookandfeel=oracle
    otherparams=usesdi=%usesdi% myparam1=%myparam1% myparam2=%myparam2%
    You don't need to change the baseHTML file for this. The Forms system commands are pre-defined in formsweb.cfg and don't need to be added to the URL
    Haven't heard about Forms not running on AIX, so I cannot help you with this question

  • Passing multiple parameters (caption and textbox) to another form failing to pick up Caption

    I have an Microsoft Access application that is more like a form than a database. Users complete the form and then submit it to us for review. There are many questions and memo fields on the different forms (sections). Some of the memo forms are small due
    to the limitation of the size of the form (22 inches) therefore there is a lot of scrolling. I want to include a button on each question so that when users click on it will display a form where I pass the label caption (question) and the answer to this form.
    Alternatively I can have a expanded form for each question but that would require over 50 forms. The Application is quite large. I wanted to have one form and just call the different questions/answers.
    The below is working for the text box (AnswerTxt). However the CaptionTxt is not holding it's value when it gets to the new form. It's only displaying the name of the variable name, CaptionTxt
    On the form where the data resides I have:
    Private Sub test_Click()
    Dim CaptionTxt As String
    Dim AnswerTxt As String
    CaptionTxt = Me.lblSect11_5.Caption
    AnswerTxt = Me.Section11_5.Value
    Debug.Print CaptionTxt
    Debug.Print AnswerTxt
    DoCmd.OpenForm "Form1", OpenArgs:="CaptionTxt|" & AnswerTxt
    End Sub
    On the new form with an expanded memo field
    Private Sub Form_Load()
    Dim intPos As Integer
    Dim strControlName As String
    Dim strValue As String
    If Len(Me.OpenArgs) > 0 Then
    ' Position of the pipe
    intPos = InStr(Me.OpenArgs, "|")
    If intPos > 0 Then
    strControlName = Left$(Me.OpenArgs, intPos - 1)
    Debug.Print strControlName
    strValue = Mid$(Me.OpenArgs, intPos + 1)
    Debug.Print strValue
    ' Retrieve Control Name from the first part of the string
    Me.lblText11.Caption = Left$(Me.OpenArgs, intPos - 1)
    ' strControlName = Left$(Me.OpenArgs, intPos - 1)
    ' Retrieve Value to Assign from the end of the string
    Me.txt_Section11.Value = Mid$(Me.OpenArgs, intPos + 1)
    ' strValue = Mid$(Me.OpenArgs, intPos + 1)
    ' Assign the value to the control
    ' Me(strControlName) = strValue
    End If
    End If
    End Sub

    The below is working for the text box (AnswerTxt). However the CaptionTxt is not holding it's value when it gets to the new form. It's only displaying the name of the variable name, CaptionTxt
    It will, because you are passing it as a literal string with:
        DoCmd.OpenForm "Form1", OpenArgs:="CaptionTxt|" & AnswerTxt
    In this "CaptionTxt|" is a literal string, whereas AnswerTxt references the variable.  It should be:
        DoCmd.OpenForm "Form1", OpenArgs:=CaptionTxt & "|" & AnswerTxt

  • Passing Multiple Parameters to Web Forms

    I need to run a form through an URL (say by clicking on a link) and I need to pass more than one parameters to the called form , can anybody help me to know how to separate the two parameters , say p1 and p2 , in the URL address . I tried like this :
    http:\\197.45.3.89./dev60cgi/ifcgi60.exe?form=login&userid=&otherparams=p2=ppx40001.fmx&p1=RMA&lookAndFeel=generic&colorScheme=teal
    But the problem is with the syntax for separating the two parameters
    &otherparams=p2=ppx40001.fmx&p1=RMA
    does not work as I separate them with '&'.
    What is the actual syntax ?
    Thanks in advance folks .
    Have a great new Year !!

    Hey first of all turn your http:\\ to be http:\\ and the only thing I can think of is to use ? instead of &. I apologize in advance if this is totally useless :-)

  • Problem passing OUT parameters form based on stored procedure to another form?

    Hello,
    I am unable to pass parameters of type OUT from a form based on a stored procedure to another form.
    However, I am able to pass parameters of the type IN to the other form.
    This is the code that I have under the heading
    On successful submission of a form, execute this PL/SQL block or PL/SQL procedure:
    declare
    v_partno varchar2(100);
    v_partdesc varchar2(200);
    blk varchar2(10):='DEFAULT';
    v_names varchar2(1000);
    v_values varchar2(1000);
    begin
    v_partno:=p_session.get_value_as_varchar2
    (p_block_name=>blk,p_attribute_name=>'A_PART_NO');
    v_partdesc:=p_session.get_value_as_varchar2
    (p_block_name=>blk,p_attribute_name=>'A_PART_DESC');
    v_names := '_moduleid:_show_header:pnumber:pdescription';
    v_values := '1325575336:YES:' || LTRIM(TO_CHAR(v_partno)) || ':' || LTRIM(TO_CHAR(v_partdesc)) ;
    PORTAL.wwa_app_module.link (
    p_arg_names => PORTAL.wwv_standard_util.string_to_table2(v_names),
    p_arg_values => PORTAL.wwv_standard_util.string_to_table2(v_values));
    end
    Info:
    1. Passing PART_NO (IN parameter) and PART_DESC (OUT paramter) to another form.
    2. After hitting the submit button, the second form comes up, but with only the PART_NO(type IN) field completed. The PART_DESC(type OUT) field did not get passed to the second form.
    3. The corresponding fields in the second form are pnumber & pdescription.
    4. FYI - I can see all the OUT parameters correctly, if I don't try to pass control to the second form.
    5. Portal 9.0.2 ( the version that ships with IAS 9.0.2)
    Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have been stuck here for a while now!

    Re: Error
    Passing OUT parameter to another form.
    You cannot retrieve the value of the OUT parameter from the session object because after executing your procedure,
    the value passed out using the OUT parameter is not loaded in the session object.
    But you can still achieve what you are trying in the following way.
    Let's assume that your procedure has the following str :-
    procedure proc1 (p_in in varchar2,
    p_out out varchar2)
    is
    begin
    /* your processing statements
    end;
    Say, the name of the field, in the 2nd form, where you need to pass the out parameter value is VALUE_FROM_OUT.
    1> Edit the form on procedure proc1
    2> Select the submit button in the left frame and for the PL/SQL button handler choose Submit action.
    3> In the adjacent textarea, comment out the doSubmit statement and use code given below :-
    declare
    l_p_in varchar2(32767);
    l_p_out varchar2(32767);
    l_url varchar2(2000);
    begin
    l_p_in := p_session.get_value_as_varchar2(
    p_block_name => 'DEFAULT',
    p_attribute_name => 'A_P_IN');
    execute immediate
    'begin <schema>.proc1(:b_in,:b_out); end;'
    using in l_p_in, out l_p_out;
    l_url := 'http://<host>:<port>/pls/<dad>/<portal-schema>.wwa_app_module.link?p_arg_name=_moduleid&p_arg_values=<module_id>&p_arg_names=VALUE_FROM_OUT&p_arg_values='||
    <portal-schema>.wwv_standard_util.url_encode(l_p_out);
    <portal-schema>.wwa_app_module.set_target(l_url,'CALL');
    end;
    NOTE :
    ======
    In the code given above, replace
    <schema> with the schema name that owns the procedure proc1
    <host> with webserver host
    <port> with the port of your webserver
    <dad> with the portal dad
    <portal-schema> with the name of the portal-schema
    <module_id> with the module of the 2nd form i.e. where you need to pass the value of the out variable.
    You will have to grant execute privilege on procedure proc1 to your application schema,
    if the procedure proc1 lies in a schema other than the application schema.
    4> Finish editing the form.

  • Passing parameters from one form to another

    Hi,
    I'm trying to pass parameters from 1 form to another. I would be able to call the form, but the parameters are not passed to the calling form. I do not know what's the problem. Basically, the 2nd form shows up with blank values in all the fields. Below is my code. Anybody expert in this, pl. help.
    By the way my 1st form is based on PROCEDURE.
    declare
    s_requestor           number(10);
    s_customer_impact      varchar2(4000);
    s_creation_date      date;
    l_url                varchar2(4000);
    blk               varchar2(10) := 'DEFAULT';
    begin
    p_session.set_value(
    p_block_name => blk,
    p_attribute_name => 'A_P_REQUESTOR',
    p_value => 88888);
    s_requestor := p_session.get_value_as_number
    (p_block_name => blk,
    p_attribute_name => 'A_P_REQUESTOR');
    s_customer_impact := p_session.get_value_as_varchar2
    (p_block_name => blk,
    p_attribute_name => 'A_P_CUSTOMER_IMPACT');
    s_creation_date := p_session.get_value_as_date
    (p_block_name => blk,
    p_attribute_name => 'A_P_CREATION_DATE');
    l_url:=('/pls/portal/PORTAL.wwa_app_module.link?
    p_arg_names=_moduleid&p_arg_values=1794837934&
    p_arg_names=_show_header&p_arg_values=YES&
    p_arg_names=REQUESTOR&p_arg_values='||s_requestor||'&
    p_arg_names=CREATION_DATE&p_arg_values='||s_creation_date||'&
    p_arg_names=CUSTOMER_IMPACT&p_arg_values='||s_customer_impact);
    PORTAL.wwa_app_module.set_target(l_url);
    end;

    the way to call one form from another and pass values for parameters from the procedure is like this:
    PORTAL.wwa_app_module.link (
    p_arg_names => PORTAL.wwv_standard_util.string_to_table2('_moduleid:_show_header:REQUESTOR:CREATION_DATE'),
    p_arg_values => PORTAL.wwv_standard_util.string_to_table2('1191314879:YES:'||s_requestor||':'||s_creation_date));
    and so on.
    Hope it works for you

  • Passing parameters from one form to another in swings

    hi
    Could you please let me know is there any provision to pass the values between two forms in Swing..
    For Example: I have two forms : 1 Login Page and 2. Main Form.
    After Login Confirmation i want the User name to be displayed in the second form.
    Thanks in advance
    Srisha

    It seems that that is a typical servlet task, not Java Swing.

  • Passing a parameter from one form to another

    Hi
    I'm trying to pass a parameter from one form to another. I've read lots of postings about this, and I have succeeded in calling the second form using code behind one of the existing Portal buttons (insert). Here is the code:
    DECLARE
    pro_id NUMBER;
    pro_link VARCHAR2(1200);
    BEGIN
    pro_id := p_session.get_value_as_number(
    p_block_name => 'DEFAULT',
    p_attribute_name => 'A_PRO_ID');
    pro_link := portal30.wwv_user_utilities.get_url(
    'CINTRA_APP.PRO_LINK_1',
    'WKG_PRO_ID',pro_id,
    '_WKG_PRO_ID_cond','=');
    PORTAL30.wwa_app_module.set_target(pro_link,'CALL');
    END;
    Trouble is, the parameter does not get passed. This could be because:
    the field I'm trying to populate is based on an LOV ?
    the target form is not set up to receive parameters? (I read this somewhere, but how do you do it?)
    Thanks

  • Passing field values to form from another form

    Hi,
    I have multiple detail table for a master table. The master table is project table and the details tables are all related to the project table. In the portal forms we cannot have a form based on multiple child tables. So I am trying to enter one detail table at a time. I have created a master-detail table based on project table and a detail table (cost table). After I enter data in this MD form I want to carry the projectid to another form based on another detail table (resource table) on the next page. I want to navigate to this next form by clicking on a next button after I have entered data on the previous MD form.
    The projectid is a hidden field in the first MD form and is generated by a database sequence. I understood that there is many ways to send field values to a form:-
    1. By creating a moduleid link on the next button. This link will have the projectid value
    2. By calling the form from a PL/SQL procedure on the CALL/GO of the first MD form.
    I am not sure how to get the 'projectid' value generated from the sequence and pass it to the link or a procedure. Will the projectid value be stored in the session ? How do I get it ?
    Is the above way of entering multiple detail tables feasable ? Please advice.

  • How can I pass data from a form guide to another form in a business process

    How do we pass data from a form guide to another form(not necessarily a guide) without having to open the form. For example we have a small form guide to capture the contract id so we can then get data from contracts table to present to the user in a form. We want the user to open the guide (either Flex guide or form guide) to enter the contract id. Upon submission we want the process to get the contract data and put it into the form that will be opened at the next step by the user without having a user interact with the form to get the data into it. In other words we need the process to get the data and populate a different form than the form guide the contract id was entered in and this new form needs to be opened in the next step by the user.

    Firstly, I'm assuming that you have a Forms ES Server if you are rendering a Guide.  This could be either version ES1, ES2/2.5 or ES3/ADEP
    If you submit the form back to the server, you can populate a second (PDF/XDP) form with the data bound to the same schema/Data Model using Forms ES.
    You referred to the next user in the chain - If you are using Process Management, this is very easy, as you define what form is used to render the data in the "Presentation & Data" section of the Assign Task activity
