Passing html from AS3 to Javascript
I am using WebStageView to pass html from AS3 to a Javascript function in a webpage.
I do this like:
var urltext:String = "javascript:setText('aaa','vvv')"
webView.loadURL(urltext);
This successfully calls a function in JS named setText which in turn sets the value of a div or whatever else I want to do.
Here is the problem:
If I want to pass:
var urltext:String = "javascript:setText('<p>aaa</p>','vvv')" the formatted text works fine and I get no errors however,
if I pass it like this:
var txt:String = '<p>aaa</p>';
var urltext:String = ""javascript:setText('+txt+','vvv')" then I get a parse error;
It traces out to look like this:
urltext: javascript:setText('<p>aaaaa</p>
','vvv')
Notice that there is a return after the </p> which is apparently causing the parse error.
I am loading text from a file and passing it via the above call to JS.
In short, is there a way to format the text so it doies not cause the parse error?
Or, is there a better way to pass html strings in a call to Javascript?
ExternalInterface does not seem to work anymore and I am avoiding WebStageViewBridge.
Ain't that the way of it..
Came up with a solution Minutes after I posted this problem.
Here it is, just in case:
var urltext:String = "javascript:setText("+com.adobe.serialization.json.JSON.encode(fileText)+",'vvv')"

Passing variables from AS3 to PHP
Hi there

BIG THANKS!!the problem is nothing your showed. did you see a security warning that you ignored?
to test, if that's the problem go here and adjust your security settings: http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager04a.ht ml
if that fails, upload your files to a server and confirm everything works. then start working on your local configuration. -
Passing parameter from Servlet to javascript in JSP. Very Urgent - 5 jukes!
Well my servlet will retrieve questions from database.
Then the player will answer the question in the JSP and submit the answer to the servlet to process.
Each time an answer is submitted, or a "Next Question" button is clicked, the countdown time will restart.
And will reload the page with a new question.
So how can i do that?

How to pass value from JSP to Javascript?
I want to pass 2 integers to Javascript to do checking? How can I do that?
Well, it is very simple, Follow these steps.
1. Have a form with fields
2. On submit validate the form using javascript
3. If the javascript returns false do not submit the form
4. if the javascript returns true submit the form
5. The destination jsp page will handle the db operations.
1. <form name="frm1" action="dbcheck.jsp">
<input type="text" name="txt1">
<input type="button" value="submit" onClick="return validate();">
</form>
put the above piece of code in the <body> tag
2. Upon submit the js function validate() will be called :
<script language="javascript">
function validate() {
if(document.frm1.txt1.value="") {
alert("enter text");
return false;
else {
document.frm1.submit(); // i am not sure whether the () after submit is required or not
put the above piece of code in the <head> tag.
3. Now when the submit happens, the control goes to the dbcheck.jsp
this is dbcheck.jsp:
<%
String str = (String) request.getParameter("txt1");
------other db operations go here --------
%>
"txt1" is the field name of the textbox from the form u previously submitted.

out.println("alert('aacat');");
out.println("location.href = 'http://localhost:8080/examples/servlet/frec1?aacatt=aacat';");
out.println("}");
and servlet code is :
out.println("<td bgcolor=#F2F9FF> <select name=aacat size=1 style=font-size: 8pt; color: #666666; font-family: Verdana; border: 1 solid #666666 onChange= 'reloadform();'>");
while (ra.next()==true) {
String mycat=ra.getString("acat");
String myasc=ra.getString("ascode");
out.println(mycat+"<br>");

Opening webtogo app in browser. I want to edit main.html from webtogo
Hi,
i have following problem. I have an application made in webtogo, the deployment and use of the application works fine, but when i open my application from in the http://localhost/webtogo/WLTop u can see when u go over the application that they use javascript:parent.gotoUrl(...) is used.
Application is opened but the size of the opened browser is very small and i would like that the opened browser has maximum screen size, so i searched and found that the page main.html from webtogo contains javascript gotoUrl function. I edited this one on server side but on sync doesn't come to client(that i checked with WSH).
When editing and saving main.html in WSH prompt everything goes fine.
So i want to know how u can edit the webtogo main.html or other pages and how they come with sync to client.OK, that seems to have resolved the issue. Apologies for the panic! I'm not sure what the problem was as I had already restarted and repaired permissions before the problem manifested, and DragonDrop works fine on my other computer running 10.8, and I have successfully restarted the program now on 10.7.5 without a recurrence of the issue. But if it happens again I'll update this thread.

JSP?jsp's are not meant to read such amounts of data. this (= uploading) is a typical task for a specialized servlet. there you have full control over input and output. if you need to, you can still forward to a jsp after processing in the servlet.
How can I pass data from JavaScript to JSP???? i'm not sure what exactly you mean. normally you put it into an url and submit it.

</tr:commandLink>
i want to pass the from value from java script code how can i do it and if i can not do it directly what is the work around for it.
Regards
Mohd79Hi,
assign an ID to the inputText and use the JavaScript Document Object Model to access it. Also use a good browser with good DOM source viewer to browse the HTML page your JSP creates at runtime Firefox and Chrome have good source viewers.
there are truckloads of JavaScript examples on the Internet.
Or as Frank said if you get the setActionListener working properly you can easily copy a value from one input value binding to another.

Passing data from Javascripts to Applets
Hi,
I've wrote a small applet for lists but when I try to pass data from my
JavaScript to my applet, I get an "Error: Object doesn't support this property or method". I get this error with a select other sites including the page I'm writing, leading me to believe I may not have installed requried files or set required options, though I've checked my settings . I've included the listing of the code snippet where the error occurs.
document.listApplet.testMethod()OR when I use:
document.applet(listApplet).testMethod()The applet is loaded by this statement:
<OBJECT CODE="CustomAppletList" NAME="listApplet" ID="listApplet" WIDTH="1000" HEIGHT="600"></OBJECT>and loads fine but the error persists when attempting to call public method in my applet. Can anyone suggest ideas how I can successfully pass data from my JavaScripts to my applets?
DevynHi,
Thnx for the reply. I've tried as you suggested and modified my <OBJECT> line to:
<OBJECT CODE="CustomAppletList.class" NAME="listApplet" ID="listApplet" WIDTH="1000" HEIGHT="600">
<PARAM NAME="scriptable" VALUE="true"></PARAM>
</OBJECT>But the error persists. I'm using IE6. I did not have such errors with IE5.
I use the following code to test the applet tag I assigned at each step:
if (document.listApplet) {
document.write ("Applet Object (document.listApplet) exists.")
} else {
return
if (document.listApplet.object) {
document.write ("Applet Object (document.listApplet.object) exists.")
} else {
return
if (document.listApplet.object.testMethod) {
document.write ("Method textMethod() in applet has been validated and exists!")
} else {
document.write ("[2]")
return
document.write ("[11]")The debugging info from this code at the end of the html document I'm writing is:
[1]Applet Object (document.viewer) exists.Applet Object (document.viewer.object) exists.[2][11]
