Passing parameter to a Dashboard prompt

Hi,
In this case i cant pass the number value to the target report.
P4=eq&P5="IsyeriTanimlari"."DWH_ISYERI_KOD"&P6="Isyeri"."IsyeriKodu"
Also when i use
P9='||CAST("Time"."GUN" AS char)||' when i right some more parameter after this cast it cant take the parameters that ones put this cast one:?
''||'Kampanya'||'<a>'

Hi Tani,
Just to make sure, you're passing a parameter to a Dashboard and not Answers right?
Here's the syntax I've had success with:
http://localhost:9704/analytics/saw.dll?Dashboard&Action=Navigate&PORTALPAGE=<path of dashboard>&Page=<page path, this is optional>&col1=<full column name>&val1=<value>
In your case the following should work:
http://localhost:9704/analytics/saw.dll?Dashboard&Action=Navigate&PORTALPAGE=<path of dashboard>&col1="IsyeriTanimlari"."DWH_ISYERI_KOD"&val1=<value>&col2="Isyeri"."IsyeriKodu"&val2=<value>
Hope that helps!

  • XMLP Parameter And BIEE Dashboard Prompt "All Values"

    Hi Gurus,
I want to insert a XMLP Report in the BIEE Dashboard and use a Dashboard Prompt as parameter in the Report.
There is a way to use the "All Values" value of the prompt?
I write a XMLP data model as:
    select dim_1.Attribute as Dim from BIEESubjectArea where dim_1.Attribute = :Parameter;
Parameter is return by the BIEE Dashboard.
It works for all different value of the Parameter but not if I select the "All Values"
There is a way to make it works?
    Regards,
    Daniele

    Hello Daniele,
When 'All Values' is selected (for Show), it basically displays all values avaliable for the parameter. Are you talking about 'All Choices' option? Selecting 'All Choices' will pass null values and you would have to modify your answers filter to accomodate that.
Take a look at the following: http://108obiee.blogspot.com/2009/04/detecting-all-choices-from-dashboard.html
    Hope that helps!

  • Passing Parameter/Variable into Dashboard URL

    Hi,
Instead of having someone type in or search for a variable I was trying to determine a way to pass a variable directly into the URL
    I have tried:
    VARIABLE_SCREEN=X&BI_COMMAND_1-BI_COMMAND_TYPE=SET_VARIABLES_STATE&BI_COMMAND_1-VARIABLE_VALUES-VARIABLE_VALUE_1-VARIABLE_TYPE=VARIABLE_INPUT_STRING&BI_COMMAND_1-VARIABLE_VALUES-VARIABLE_VALUE_1-VARIABLE_TYPE-VARIABLE_INPUT_STRING=XXXXXX&BI_COMMAND_1-VARIABLE_VALUES-VARIABLE_VALUE_1-VARIABLE=XXXXXXXXX
    added to the dashboard URL:
    pcd!3aportal_content!2fcom.sap.pct!2fplatform_add_ons!2fcom.sap.ip.bi!2fiViews!2fcom.sap.ip.bi.bex?TEMPLATE=DASHBOARD
But any time I try this method it just refreshes the variable screen...
Am I missing something? Maybe I think its easier then it really is.
    Thanks,

    Mike,
Variable_screen=x will always force the variable screen to display.
    Try just variable_Screen=&BI_command etc etc

  • Passing multi-value parameter from BIEE dashboard to BIP report

It is possibile passing multi-value parameter from BIEE dashboard prompt to BI Publisher integrated report? (BIP report has a DB data source (not a answers))
    Thank you
    R.

    Hi Rajkm,
In order to pass a multi-value parameter through the Reporting Services Web services, you need to define the same numbers of ParameterValue objects as the number of the values of the multi-value parameter being past into the report. The Name property
of these ParameterValue objects must be specified same to the parameter name.
I found a good FAQ article for this scenario:
How do I pass a multi-value parameter into a report with Reporting Services Web service API?:

  • Passing Chinese characters in OBIEE 11g GO URL to init the dashboard prompt

    Hi Experts,
Currently we are using OBIEE 11g and passing the dashboard prompt parameter values through the OBIEE go url. When we are passing English strings the dashboard prompt is initialized with the correct passing value. However for Chinese character it is not. I am using the URLEncoder.encode("parameter value", "UTF-8") encoding to encode the passing string.
Can anyone tell me what is the wrong in this approach? How can we pass any language strings to OBIEE 11g via go url?
    Thanks

To avoid encoding problems use POST method. Here is js example for OBIEE 10g, but I bellieve you will find similar XML syntax in 11g.

  • Passing Values to Dashboard Prompt

    Hi Gurus,
I have a summary Dashboard page with summary report and prompt build on Summary table , and i have a detail dashboard page contains Detail report and prompt same as Summary but these prompts are from Dimension tables and report from fact and Dimension.
The requirement is Once i click some value in Summary dashboard it has to pass the values to Detail dashboard ( Means Passing the values to Dashboard prompt) and show the result in detail.
As i cant use the OBIEE navigation logic to pass the values as prompts columns are not from same table. So i thought to use the GO URL this also i cant use as i am using Pivot table in Summary report. I thought to use Summary prompt in the detail Dashboard and create a dummy reports based on the prompt and resultant value pass to the Detail reports. I am able get the values but i am not getting proper answer. I dont no why .
Is i am doing correct ? i know its not elegant way. If some one give me tip or direction that will be great help.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Ali

If you are attempting to pass a value from one table1.column1 to another table2.column2 where the two do not match then you will need to use a presentation variable to hold the value. You can populate the variable using a hidden dashboard prompt that has the table1.table2 and read the value into a variable. You can then use this variable to filter the table2.column2

  • Presentation variable in dashboard prompt

    Hi All
I have a report on a dashboard page which navigates to another report on a different dashboard page (on the same dashboard). The
first dashboard page has a prompt which needs to be passed as a filter to the navigated report i.e. Report1 on dashpage1 has Level1 prompt
whose value must be passed to Report2 on dashpage2 which has Level2 (hence Report2 must show Level2 values for the passed Level1).
    1) I tried setting prompt1 on first page scope to Dashboard but it didn't help.
    2) I am trying to set a presentation variable 'level1_val' in the prompt1 and then in report2 say Level2 = @{level1_val} in Answers (filter->add presentation variable, I did not provide a default value). But when I navigate, Report2 shows no results. On adding the filter value, I noticed that the condition in Report2 is Level1=level1_val (Its taking level1_val presentation variable as a string and matching it to the Level1 prompt value). Level1 prompt value is a string. Is there a format say '@{level1_val}' that I should use in the column filter (I've tried this too)?
    Thanks
    Ananth

You are using dashboard url option in the code from the report 1 to call dashboard page 2 (with report 2).
You have only dashboard prompt for level 2 in the dashboard page 2?
    1. If you put in the filter of the second report column is equal to presentation variable that you set in the first dashboard prompt this will not work, you'll get COLUMN is equal to pres_var. When you are using DASHBOARD URL you need to pass presentation variable to the filter of the target (dashboard page prompt). If the target page prompt does't exist the parameter is parsed to the filter of all reports (or just one) that has this COLUMN set to is prompted.
    2. Go to the report 2 and set level 1 is prompted.
    3. Go to the report 1 and write dashboard url correctly with passing presentation variable like:
    '<--a href=http://.../saw.dll?Dashboard&PortalPath=/shared/.../_portal/Yourdashboard/&Page=Yourdashboardpage
    &Action=Navigate&col1=TABLE.COLUMN&val1='||REPLACE(REPLACE('@{pres_var}', ' ', '+'), '+', '%2B')||'>Link
    <--/a>'
TABLE.COLUMN is a target column to which you want to pass parameter (presentation variable), it can be on the prompt or just set to is prompted in the report 2.
But if you want to pass presentation variable to the filter of the dashboard page 2 prompt which is level 2 this could be a problem (if you are using SQL result option in the dashboard prompt in the second page to show level 2 and want to filter it by pres_var that you set in the first page prompt with level 1 this is not possible, because you can only pass parameter to the page prompt field, but you can set dummy hidden prompt in the second page and pass level 1 to it and then set new presentation variable that is available only for the second page and then use this presentation variable as the filter in the second page prompt for level 2 in the filter to show only level 2 values for the level 1 value, this method is explained in the link below).
    Try to fix it now.

  • Using Go URL to Pass parameter between dashboard

    Hi All,
I am trying to pass parameter using GO URL functionality from one dashboard analysis field to another dashboard.
The navigation is working properly but the parameter is not getting passed, I am not sure why.
The Called dashboard has a analysis which has IS PROMPTED filter attached to it for the passing filter. I tried various ways to make this work
    Option 1
In the calling analysis, I am using a Narrative View and inside I have used the below code.
    <a href="saw.dll?Go&Path=/shared/MI/_portal/Client-MI&Page=Supplier%20Detail%20Tab&Action=Navigate&P0=1&P1=eq&P2=Dim%20Supplier.Supplier%20Name%20Current&P3=1+%22STR%20LTD%22"> @2[br/]
This one navigate but filtering is not happening
Option 2 (My first preference will be this option)
Also I tried to provide custom Data Format under the column Properties
    [html]"<font class="nav" onclick=\"JavaScript:GoNav(event, '/shared/MI/_portal/Client-MI/Supplier Detail Tab','Dim Supplier','Supplier Name Current','"@"');\">"@"</font>
    This ends up giving error
Type mismatch of catalog object /shared/MI/_portal/Client-MI/Supplier Detail Tab -- expected , got .
      Error Details
    Error Codes: UVWDR6UA
Also, both the tabs (Called and Calling are under the same Dashboard)
Can anyone please let me know, were I am making mistake. I tried refereeing Oracle documentation but still no result.
    Thanks

Looks like you've got it almost right - just an extra unneeded "
    <a href="two.jsp"?ant=<%= ant %>"><%=antName%></a>
which should render on the page as something like
    My Ant Task
When you click the link, it should pass that parameter, and you can get it via request.getParameter().

  • Passing a Date value from a BI Dashboard prompt to a BI Publisher param

    Hello everyone,
I have a dashboard page with a Date (type: Date). This date is linked with a presentation variable vpres_datedanssemaine.
In my time dimension (name: Date) I have 3 columns:
    -"Date" which is the date
-"Lundi de semaine" ("Monday of the week") which is the monday of the week whose includes "Date"
-"Dimanche de semaine" ("Sunday of the week") (you understand the purpose...)
(Weeks go from Monday to Sunday)
It works perfectly in BI answers when I use this filter :
    "Lundi de semaine" lesser than or equal to @{vpres_datedanssemaine}
    AND "Dimanche de semaine" greater than or equal to @{vpres_datedanssemaine}
The problem arises when I try to substitute the BI Answer report by a Publisher one in the Dashboard.
The publisher report defines a parameter:
    -Name: vpres_datedanssemaine
    -Data Type: Date
    -Parameter type: Date
    -Date format string: yyyyy-MM-dd HH-mm-ss
    The filter we use
    Date."Lundi de semaine" <= :vpres_datedanssemaine AND
    Date."Dimanche de semaine" >= :vpres_datedanssemaine
When we run the dashboard page, we get an error " Error can be displayed due to an error. Contact an administrator".
Do you see an error anywhere?
Did someone manage to pass a Date from a dashboard prompt to a BI Publisher parameter?
    Thanks

  • Can I pass parameters from a dashboard via a dashboard prompt and presentation variable to publisher report based on a data model with select statements in OBIEE 11g ?

I have a publisher 11g (v 11.1.1.7)  report with a single parameter. The report is based on a data model not a subject area.  I created a dashboard put a dashboard prompt and link to the report in separate section on the same page.  The dashboard prompt sets a presentation variable named the same as the parameter in the report.
The problem was when I created the dashboard prompt, it forced me to select a subject area which I did (though did not want to) and then I created both a column and variable prompts. But clicking on the
report link completely ignored the value that I thought would be passed in the presentation variable to the report.
Side note :  My report uses a pdf template for its layout where I have mapped the columns names from my data model to the form fields on the pdf form.  I noticed that if I create a publisher report based on a subject area, then I do not have the choice to choose a PDF as a template type for my layout.  (I only see BI Publisher Template as a choice).
I see some documentation online that suggest it could be done in 10g.
    Thanks
    M. Jamal

    Ok,
I just tried that and it still doesn't pass anything to the prompt.
I changed the prompt to an edit field and I made the following weblink but when i click the link from an account it doesn't put anything in the prompt and all data for all accounts is shown.
This is the URL maybe I messed something up...

  • Problem while passing parameters for dashboard prompts in URL

    Hi,
We have created a dashboard on OBI which has some dashboard prompts. We have a requirement that we shall open the dashboard from an external application. We are doing this by invoking an URL. We want the dashboard to turn with prompts already being applied.
I was trying to open the dashboard with the following URL
    http://<servername:port>/analytics/saw.dll?Go&PortalPath=/shared/Procurement%20and%20Spend/_portal/Supplier%20Performance&Page=Overview
But when I use the above Go URL the dashboard is not coming up. It shows the following error
         No Columns
The request cannot be performed because it contains no columns.
When I use the following URL(which has the keyword 'Dashboard' not 'Go') the Dashboard is coming up fine
    http://<servername:port>/analytics/saw.dll?Dashboard&PortalPath=/shared/Procurement%20and%20Spend/_portal/Supplier%20Performance&Page=Overview
There are dashboard prompt defined in dashboard. When I try to send the filter value via URL(given below) it is not working. I just see the Dashboard coming up.
    http://<servername:port>/analytics/saw.dll?Dashboard&NQUser=Administrator&NQPassword=SADMIN&PortalPath=/shared/Procurement%20and%20Spend/_portal/Supplier%20Performance&Page=Overview&P0=1&P1=eq&P2=Supplier."Supplier%20Name"&P3=1+AccessMicron
when we use the keyword Dashboard in the URL , can we pass the parameter for the dashboard proimpt ..? If we can do that .. how to do that ..? Is it the same manner that we do for Go URL. ..?
Please let me know if you need any more information on this.
Thanks in advance for your time,
    Raj Kumar
Edited by: Raja Kumar on Jan 22, 2010 3:29 AM

    Hi Raj,
Raghu is correct, you need the Action=Navigate to make prompts work, otherwise you get move to the target dashboard without prompts.
I think you figured it out your self, but the ?Go is for Answer Requests and ?Dashboard is for navigating to dashboards.
I would also recommend using col1="COLUMN_NAME" and val1=value syntax instead of the P0,P1, etc, etc. It's a little easier to read and implement.
    Try this:
    http://<servername:port>/analytics/saw.dll?Dashboard&Action=Navigate&NQUser=Administrator&NQPassword=SADMIN&PortalPath=/shared/Procurement%20and%20Spend/_portal/Supplier%20Performance&Page=Overview&col1=%22Supplier%22.%22Supplier%20Name%22&val1=1+AccessMicron
    Good luck!

  • Issue with Dashboard Prompt passing value to Presentation Variable

I have 2 tabular reports that grab 2 variables respectively: @Month and @Year.
    The reports work fine.
My issues is that to compute the most recent month & year, so I can pass the values to the 2 variables mentioned above, I have a dashboard prompt on the same page as the 2 reports. In the dashboard prompts (Edit Box types), I have SQL in the "Default" that computes the most recent month & year. This logic also works perfectly when you preview the results of the prompt.
My issue is that when I land on the page, it seems that the month & year prompts are not computing. I have an old value of "Dec" "2009" instead of "May" "2010".
It seems the Default SQL logic is NOT running on its own? As an aside, we do our development in a test environment and the catalog is promoted to production nightly. The "Dec" and "2009" I see is the correct value for the test environment, so it looks as if the defaul values are just being migrated with the catalog, but then the SQL to compute the latest values of the 2 propmts are never executing when the user lands on the page? Thus everyone sees Dec 2009 data instead of May 2010...Help!

  • Problem with passing dashboard prompts

    Hi All,
I have a problem with passing dashboard prompts.
    Scenario:
I have a report with country(column interaction),amount sold and two prompts.when the user selects the particular country, i need to navigate to other detailed dasboard with 2 prompts and country.
with the column interaction, am able to navigate to other dashboard with all the prompts only when the target dashboard prompts, defaults to presentation variable.
but when the user directly opens the target dashboard, i have to display the report with the default values which am not able to achieve.
All the prompts are customized prompts.
Any suggestions would be greatly helpful.
    Thnx in Advance

    Hi,
When you drill down, corresponding filter values get added to your report. So next time when you change the prompt values It does not give you proper data.
So before you change the prompt values, you comeback to the default report. and try changing the prompt values.
Otherwise you can do one thing, Do not enable drill in place for the report section. So when you try to drill down in the report, it takes you to the new page.
And in the main page even if you change prompt values, It will work perfectly.
