Passing parameter to a portal page that display a WSRP portlet ?

I have created, deployed and regisered a WSRP portlet to Portal 10.1.4. I also create a portal page used to render this portlet. I would like to pass in a parameter xx (thru the HTTPRequest) when calling this page and have it visible to the portlet inside the page. Something like http://host:port/portal/page/portal/myPortlets/portletA?xx=123 where
"http://host:port/portal/page/portal/myPortlets/portletA" represented my portal page and "xx=123" is what I want my page to see.
Is it even possible/support by Portal 10.1.4 ?
Thanks.
Kim

    I want to pass a parameter to a 'Portal' page. This parameter is a the title of the page. I found that in the page's properties a 'parameter' tab is there where we can add a parameter. But I don't know how the page will read the value of this parameter & display it.

    i am trying to pass the parent_id as a parameter to a portal page but am not able to... i can add it to the list of in parameters to the PL/SQL based parent id but when i add the parent id to the url then i get no result... i created a custom attribute for the parent id since there is no attribute build other then page group and page id... when I set the Parent ID attributes default value in the attribute properties of the item type based on PL/SQL it just brings back results for the default value and if i pass a different value for ithe parent id i dont get the correct result I get the result for the default parent id.
    I am using the followin url to pass the parent id

  • How can i create a simple netweaver portal page that shows text and images?

    Hi,
    i have a simple question or maybe it's not so simple.
    I am completly new to SAP Netweaver 2004s Portal. At the moment i'm trying to understand the struture of the whole thing. I already know how to create roles, worksets and pages and i know how to combine the different elements so a user can acces them.
    And now i want to create a simple portal page that shows text and images. Is it possible to create such a simple page with the portal content studio? What iView do i have to use?
    (I just want to create a start page with a welcome text on it.)

    Marc
    Considering that you would any ways go ahead with complex development from this simple start page I recommend create a Web dynpro Iview for your start page (include the Iview in your page).
    For putting the contents use Netweaver Developer studio to build a simple start page application and put your static text on that Iview.
    Please go through the following log after your NWDS development is over - This will make you comfortable for further challenging work.

    When I open a second tab in Firefox, it does not go to my home page. Instead it goes to a page that displays what looks like a collection of pages (or links) that I have visited in the recent or distant past. I would much rather have it go to my home page which is much more useful to me. I have tried to change this in 'Options' but with no luck. Please fix this.

  • Help - Passing parameter to report using page parameter

    I have a SQL Report on a page
    The report query is
    select * from scott.emp where deptno = :department
    The URL for the page containing the report is:
    http://developer03.fis:7777/portal/page?_pageid=95,36455&_dad=portal&_schema=PORTAL
    I have added a page parameter = departnment
    and associated the page parameter to the report bind variable in the Portlet Parameter Values as follows:
    department = Page Parameter, department
    I displayed the page by going to the above URL
    and then added &department=10 to the end of the URL in the browser address.
    I expected the report to display records for deptno = 10, but the query didn't return any records.
    Anyone know what's wrong??
    Thanks Larry

    Yes, except you need to add &department=10 to the end of the page URL, not what I had.

  • Passing parameter to a dynamic page portlet

    We need to create a drill-down report using pl/sql, but it's not working when we passed a parameter. We did the following:
    1. Create a package and a store procedure.
    2. The store procedure creates the report and the look-and-feel of the report.
    3. Create a dynamic page with the following code:
    <ORACLE>DECLARE
    BEGIN
    mvdata.interbay_ops_rpts_pkg.ops_detail_procssr_rpt(p_processor);
    END;
    </ORACLE>
    4. Set the parameter to "public" in the "customization form display option".
    5. Create a page group and a page.
    6. Clicked on properties of page and then clicked on the parameter tab.
    7. Added a parameter named "p_processor_code"
    8. We also added the portlet parameter under the "portlet parameter values" and set the parameter to be a page parameter and select the name of the parameter and click OK.
    9. Launch the URL: ttp://iasdev01.bftg.com:7782/pls/portal/url/page/PG_GRP_DEVELOPMENT/PG_OPS_DETAIL_PROCESSOR?p_processor_code=DUBOIS.
    10. When we tried to launch the application we get an empty report(doesn't execute the parameter).
    11. Edit the page and went into layout mode.
    12. Click on the "edit default" of the dynamic page portlet and put the value of the parameter and it works without any problems.
    I don't understand why it doesn't take the parameter with the page url. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    I had more luck with PL/SQL items. Try something like this:
    declare
    zip varchar2(10);
    begin
    zip := portal.wwpro_api_parameters.get_value('zip', 'a');
    if zip='94065' then
       ... do something ...
    end if;
    end;Peter

  • How to pass parameter from SSO login page to ADF application page?

    We have ADF-JSF application (running on AS 1013) that is being protected by OID running on AS 1012. SSO login page contains (among others) paramter ssousername and I wish to pass this to my ADF application. For the testing purpose I created ADF application entry point page that has something like this:
    <h:outputText value="#{param.ssousername}"/>and my sso login page has:
    <input type="text" size="30" maxlength="50" name="ssousername" value="<%=str_user%>">OID and ADF OC4j are running on two different servers, same network.
    So after successful login, when my page displays param passed is NULL?!
    Why?

    I solved it with the following....when my page loads, I execute test method:
        public void processLogin(String ssousername) {
             Object o  = JSFUtils.getUserFromSSOLogin();
             if (o!=null) System.out.println(o.toString());
        public static Object getUserFromSSOLogin(){
            FacesContext ctx = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
            return ctx.getExternalContext().getRemoteUser();

  • Dynamic pass parameter URL iview Portal

    Hi guys
    i have url iview, this iview is assigned to a rol of anonymous user,
    http://XXXXXXXX/irj/portal/anonymous?guest_user=Guest01
    the ivew set automatically and i can see when user guest sign in.
    this iview have 2 parameters i need this parameter, has set values with a link, like this
    http://XXXXXXXX/irj/portal/anonymous?guest_user=Guest01&parameter1 = value1&parameter2 = Value2
    i appreciated any help
    Angel G.

    Hi Angel,
    So you are trying to pass two parameters to your iView that is embedded in a portal role that is assigend to an anonymous user... is that right?
    What problems are you having? Does the iView not see the parameters if passed as part of the top level URL (e.g.
    http://XXXXXXXX/irj/portal/anonymous?guest_user=Guest01&parameter1=value1&parameter2=Value2)?
    Not sure if it is just a typo but you have blank spaces between your "=" signs in that URL you posted, there should be no spaces.
    A bit more info and perhaps I can help more,

  • How to pass parameter between two jsp pages using web link (not form)

    Hi Friends,
    I have two jsp pages and would like to pass a parameter from one JSP page (one.jsp) to another JPS page (two.jsp)
    in one.jsp
    <a href="two.jsp?ant="<%=ant%">"> <%=antName%> </a><br>
    I don't know how to pass value of parameter "ant" to two.jsp from one.jsp.
    Can anyone help this? Thank you in advance</a>

    Looks like you've got it almost right - just an extra unneeded "
    <a href="two.jsp"?ant=<%= ant %>"><%=antName%></a>
    which should render on the page as something like
    My Ant Task
    When you click the link, it should pass that parameter, and you can get it via request.getParameter().

  • Passing a request to another page and displaying the new pages URL

    I've got a number of pages on my site that communicate with a database. Everything is working well but I am now trying protect myself from Stupid User Errors.
    Specifically when a user performs a database operation and then hits the refresh button repeatedly on the page that did the operation. (SQL Inserts are particularly ugly in this situation)
    My problem is that both the data handling and the resulting page rely on information in the request object from the original form.
    I've tried processing the information on one page and then sending a redirect but this loses the request object. I've also tried using the forward method but it only displays the result page, it doesn't actually send the user there so refreshes will still mess me up.
    What I really want is to do all my SQL operations on one page and then send them to a results page that can be refreshed as many times as they like without corrupting my database.
    Any ideas?
    Pete

    The thought occurs to me that if you call an INSERT operation on your database, the database itself will employ deadlocks to prevent someone else (such as a refreshed session) from inserting into the database until the first query is completed.
    So one thing you could do is modify your class object to first do a one-tuple SELECT and compare it with your INSERT statement. If the line exists, then abort the INSERT. This is more compute-intensive, but it is about the only way you can guarantee that regardless of the session-tracking technique you use, the desired value will never be inserted twice.
    You should double check with your local DBA though - some databases actually do ignore multiple inserts if all of the field values are the same as an existing record, and other databases are tweaked such that updating a record over and over incurs a very minor performance hit such that it's not worth guarding against such a situation.
    The only time I would be worried is if you somehow record a timestamp of when the information was actually submitted. And that's fairly easy to fix with Javascript - once the fields are filled in, mark a hidden field. If the fields change subsequently, change the hidden field. If the fields don't change (i.e., person submits over and over), then you keep the original timestamp, the tuple is exactly the same and the database ignores the duplicate INSERT.

  • Passing parameter for the bean function that deletes record from DB

    I need to delete some record from the DB without updating the reset of the user screen.
    I use commandButton with immediate attribute as true, because validation should be skipped.
    So, I can't rely on backing bean values being updated, but need to pass a param to the function that does the delete (deleteTemplate) function below.
    The value of this param is selected value in another comboBox called "template".
    Code below is not parsing. Could you advise how to do it?
    <a4j:commandButton id="deleteTemplate" value="Delete"
                             action="#{qtBeanParam.deleteTemplate(param['piPerformanceReturnsForm:template'])}" immediate="true" reRender="template,templateList,templateOwner,templateOwnerList"
                             styleClass="blue-button">
                        </a4j:commandButton>Error Parsing: #{qtBeanParam.deleteTemplate(param['piPerformanceReturnsForm:template'])}

    Thank you for your reply.
    Could I pass the value that is entered in some other field as a "parameter" though?
    <f:param name="anyName" value="parameter" />
    For example the value from the following comboBox?
    <rich:comboBox id="template" width="250" value="#{qtBeanParam.templateName}" enableManualInput="true"
                                  converter="#{templateConverter}" valueChangeListener="#{qtBeanParam.changeTemplate}" >
                                  <a4j:support event="onselect" reRender="template,templateList" ajaxSingle="true" />
                                  <a4j:support event="onchange" reRender="template,templateList" ajaxSingle="true" />
                             <f:selectItems id="templateList" value="#{qtBeanParam.templateList}" />
                        </rich:comboBox>

  • Ho do I create a SharePoint page that displays employees?

    In WSS 3.0, how do I go about creating a page of employees, phone list, etc. I just want to create a page that is synced with active directory, and displays employees, their title, phone number, etc.
    Are there any step by step samples out there? I would appreciate any help I can get.
    My thoughts so far...maybe creating a stored proc that can be used to pull the info. But then, am not so sure how I can get this into SharePoint.
    I would appreciate any help...whatever way is best to get this done. Thanks

    You'll most likely need to get into coding and build it yourself or buy a third party solution. Search online about LDAP sync or employee directory with WSS 3.0.
