Passing parameters to a BW Report iView dynamically

Hi All,
I want to pass parameters to a BW Report iView at runtime. The requirement is as such:
I have got some screen selection in a webDynpro iView and I need to pass all those selected values to a BW Report iView based on the user selection. eg. start date and end date selection.
This is on priority please help me as soon as possible.
Thanks in advance,
Murtuza

Hi Rajat,
I will try to describe my requirement once again. The iview A is the webDynpro iview and iview B is the BW Report iview. Now I want to make some selections in dropdown ,calendars and input fields in ivew A and then make a call to the iview B with all those parameters so that iview B can fire a query based upon the parameters.
ie. if I selected say startdate as today's date then this should be passed as a parameter to the BW Report iview and i need to set the application parameter for the BW Report ivew. Hope the reuirement is clear now. Please help me.
Thanks,
Murtuza

Hi Everyone,
Could you please point me to a guide or howto, which explains on passing parameters from URL to multiple iViews on a page. I already know how to pass parameters from URL to a single iView (wiki).
Thanks!

Hi Indy,
Currently, passing parameters to the page which contains VC iViews is not supported, only directly in the iView's URL.

• Problem in passing parameters between flow task in a dynamic region

Hi,
I have a problem with the passing of parameters between task flow when it is executed within a dynamic region. To implement this, I followed the Baranovskis Andrejus Blog "JDeveloper 11g and ADF Task Flow Parameters" and everything works perfect as the task flow are not invoked from a dynamic region. But if the same task flow are converted to fragment of pages and executed in a dynamic region, the filter in the task flow that is called does not work, it does not return any records.
Any idea that I may be missing to make this work well?.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Frank.
My case is the first, ie in a single dynamic region, a task flow call another passing parameters to filter data to display in the second, using a task flow call activitie. As I said in the message above, everything works well as both task flow to not become unbounded task flow with fragmet page.
Any ideas?

• How to pass parameters to concurrent program report from Forms Personalizn

Hi All,
I am trying to run a report from a menu entry in the AP Invoice entry form. For this I have done the necessary steps of creating the menu entry and am assigning the values for the 2 parameters to a global variable and then launching SRS form.
In SRS form created an action to assign the global variable value to work_order.parameters. I can invoke the SRS OK except that my 2 parameter values appear concatenated in the first parameter itself and are not getting assigned to each of them seperately.
my global variable assignment is as follows :
=${item.inv_sum_folder.vendor_name.value}||'.'||${item.inv_sum_folder.vendor_site_code.value}
and my work_order.parameters value assignment is as follows :
=select nvl(${global.kmg_invalid_po_gv.value}, ${item.work_order.parameters.value}) from dual
It passes parameters OK if i replace custom report with standard AP report. I also made my parameters to be free text (17 character value set) to not validate input, but still no joy.
Any ideas why this is not working ?
Thanks in advance.

• Passing parameters from FORM to REPORT

Hello All,
How to pass parameters from a FORM to a REPORT in Oracle Application Server Portal.

Vamsi, Are u capturing the imputs for these parameters in the form??
If u are capturing them in the form, then u need to add them to a parameter list (TEXT_PARAMETER) and while calling the report u can send it as a parameter in the RUN_PRODUCT call.
Pls check the syntax for adding parameters and calling report from form in the form builder help.

• Passing Parameters from Forms to Reports

I created a report and a form. Create a param list. I'm trying to pass the parameters to the report when I'm doing run_product. The report comes up with the parameter screen.
My problem is, as I am passing all the values what I need from the form, my report query should automatically query against these parameters and bring me the result.
For example form is passing dept 49. My report should not display a parameter form asking me to type the dept number. It should take dept 49 in it's where clause for the query and return the result set.
Can any one give me some suggestions ASAP. Very urgent.
Thanks in advance.

• How to pass parameters from Forms to Reports

dear all,
i'm running a report from a form using run_product(), now i want
to pass a parameter from a form to report, say i want to display
all the employees of deptno=10, so what parameter should i give
in run_product() and what modifications should i make in the
report???
thanks and regards
Tariq.

Yeah,
You can pass parameters to from form to report using
Parameter list. E.g. You want to display all employees of Dept
10.
1. Create report with one user paramter say p_dept
2. Now Using Parameter list and Run Product you can call report,
see following procedure.
/* This Procedure passes department number as a paramter to
Report and displays Report.
Author - Mr. Adinath R. Kamode
Parameter - Deptname (p_dept)
PROCEDURE CALL_REPORT (V_DEPT IN NUMBER)
V_PLIST          PARAMLIST;               -
- Parameter List and Name
V_PLISTNAME           VARCHAR2
(30) := 'RPTLIST';
BEGIN
-- Check existance of Parameter List
V_PLIST := GET_PARAMETER_LIST(V_PLISTNAME);
IF ID_NULL (V_PLIST) THEN
V_PLIST := CREATE_PARAMETER_LIST
(V_PLISTNAME);
IF ID_NULL (V_PLIST) THEN
MESSAGE('Error in
creating parameter list.');
MESSAGE('.');
RAISE
FORM_TRIGGER_FAILURE;
END IF;
-- Add parameter data , name must be same as in Report
ADD_PARAMETER(V_PLIST,'P_DEPT',TEXT_PARAMETER,TO_CHAR
(V_DEPT));
-- Don't display parameter Form
ADD_PARAMETER(V_PLIST,'PARAMFORM',TEXT_PARAMETER,'NO');
RUN_PRODUCT
(REPORTS,'DEPT.RDF',ASYNCHRONOUS,RUNTIME,FILESYSTEM,V_PLIST,NULL)
ELSE
DESTROY_PARAMETER_LIST(V_PLIST);

• Passing parameters to multiple sub reports

Dear Experts,
I have a crystal report (version 11) that has 4 subreports. I need to pass the same list of parameters to each sub report from the main design. I can not find a global perameter. Is this possible. an example is the date range. I need the user to be able to run the report and put the date range in once and have it passed to all of the sub-reports. thank you for your time.

Hi,
Yes, this is very much possible. Here's what you need to do:
If the parameter is a string, number or date created in the Main Report then you can right-click the 1st subreport and select 'Change Subreport Links' > In the Fields to link to area move the Main Report parameter from the Available Fields area on the left.
If the Subreport also has parameters then you can select the right-one that needs to be linked from the drop-down. This is directly link the Main report parameter to the Subreport parameter and you would prompted only once.
Hope this helps!

• Passing parameters to the SQL Report from a text box in jsp

Hi All,
I want to dynamically generate the SQL Server Reporting Services by passing the query parameter from the url like this :
"http://localhost/Reports/Pages/Report.aspx?ItemPath=%2fDashboardReports%2fHorse_Profile&rs:Command=Render&rs:HorseID=117415"
Where horseid id my parameter which is needed by report to generate the required data.
This query paramter value is picked from the text box on my jsp page.
But my problem is when i go to this url it says the message
"The 'HorseID' parameter is missing a value ".
I have done a lot of search on this topic. Everybody says that we can pass the values from the url like i am using. But still its not working.
Any body has any idea please give me some idea.

I am using 9ids

set_report_object_property(rep_id,REPORT_DESTYPE,CACHE);
set_report_object_property(rep_id,REPORT_DESFORMAT,vc_runformat);
set_report_object_property(rep_id,REPORT_SERVER,vc_reportserver);
set_report_object_property(rep_id,REPORT_OTHER,'comp_code='||:global.vc_comp_code||' vc_name='||cust_name||' inv='||inv||' invoice_no='||inv_no||' invoice_date='||inv_dt||' Paramform=no');
vc_reportserverjob:=RUN_Report_Object(rep_id);
vjob_id:=substr(vc_reportserverjob,length(vc_reportserver)+2,length(vc_reportserverjob));
vc_rep_status :=REPORT_OBJECT_STATUS(vc_reportserverjob);
if vc_rep_status='FINISHED' then
web.show_document('/reports/rwservlet/getjobid'||vjob_id||'?

else

al:=show_alert('alert_ok');
end if;
END;
Report does not run
now what i have found while rnd that
when i pass a lot of userdefined argument
it gives error.
and if passed one,two,three userdefined argument than it works.
in this example only
when i passed
inv='10016'
dt='06-09-2003'
inv_no='010016'
comp_code='01'
vc_name='PRODIMPEX'
with these reports run fines but
when i increase name data with one caharacter also it gives error
say
vc_name='PRODIMPEXR'
report does not run.
vc_name in report has character type with length 100
but a lot of argument is to be passed more.
I have also checked variable length. its fine
i think there would be some setting in some report system file having the length of parameters
which can be passed.
please help me if u know this.
thanks in advance

Hi,
this sounds familiar. Didn't you post exactly the same question a couple of weeks ago ? Don't remember what I replied to you, possibly to use varchar2 instead of character and give it a try. If this doesn't work, I remember that there is a way to use serverside command files for common parameters that needs to be passed. At least I can not find any bug filed against this. If the behavior doesn't change to teh better I therefore suggest to talk to customer support and file a bug.

• Passing parameters to a Crystal Reports JavaBean connection

Hi,
I'm trying to pass a parameter to a CR XI JavaBean connection. So far I can read and show a String parameter in the report, but I'm unable to pass it to the getResultSet(String aParameter) method that provides the ResultSet.
The Crystal Reports editor shows a dialog box asking for the "Parameter 1". I've tried with the parameter name and with an arbitrary value, but it just doesn't work.
Any comment from anyone who has been able to figure this out would be really welcome. The Crystal Reports documentation isn't very useful.
Best regards,
- Juan

I'm about to throw Crystal Reports thru the window. There is no documentation, their knowledge base is a wasteland, the samples included are just the simplest ones, it seems there is nobody from their company colaborating in their forums This company is incredible.
As far as I can tell, you need to set the parameters for the ResultSet method as if it was a stored procedure, but I found no useful documentation about this for Java / JSP pages.
So far, my JavaBean method is:
public ResultSet getResultSet(String minAge, maxAge) throws SQLException {
// I don't use the parameters yet. I just want to execute this ResultSet
try {
return getConnection()
.createStatement()
.executeQuery("SELECT * FROM notes");
} catch (Exception e) {
e.printStackTrace();
_log.error(e);
return null;
}An the parameters code is:
public Fields getParameters() {
if (_parametros == null) {
ParameterFieldDiscreteValue val1 = new ParameterFieldDiscreteValue();
val1.setValue("100");
ParameterFieldDiscreteValue val2 = new ParameterFieldDiscreteValue();
val2.setValue("200");
Values vals1 = new Values();
vals1.add(val1);
Values vals2 = new Values();
vals2.add(val2);
ParameterField field1 = new ParameterField();
field1.setName("minAge");
field1.setReportName("");
field1.setCurrentValues(vals1);
ParameterField field2 = new ParameterField();
field2.setName("maxAge");
field2.setReportName("");
field2.setCurrentValues(vals2);
Fields fields = new Fields();
fields.add(field1);
fields.add(field2);
_parameters = fields;
return _parameters;
}Any comment of any kind about this would be really welcome.

• Passing parameters from Forms6i to Reports.

Hi,
I have table STATUS with fields STATUS_NO, DESCR
I am using the following code in when button press trigger for passing parameter from Form 6i to Reports at runtime.
DECLARE
repid REPORT_OBJECT;
v_rep VARCHAR2(100);
BEGIN
repid := find_report_object('rep1');
SET_REPORT_OBJECT_PROPERTY(repid,REPORT_OTHER,'paramform=no status_no='||:ST);
v_rep := RUN_REPORT_OBJECT(repid);
END;
When I press the button and enter value 1 in ST Text item it display a blank page (no data) of report.
I am using the following Query .
select status_no,descr from status
where status_no=:st
please send me the solution of this problem on urgently basis.
Best Regards,
Shahzad

My first guess is that the parameters are not matching:
you are setting the parameter status_no when calling the report but the report will be expecting a parameter called st.

• Passing parameters from Forms to Reports - Unhandled exception error

Hi there,
I am passing parammeters to my Reports through Forms. I am using the built-in RUN_REPORT_OBJECT to invoke and run my report.
DECLARE
repid REPORT_OBJECT;
v_rep VARCHAR2(100);
BEGIN
repid := FIND_REPORT_OBJECT('MY_REPORT');
SET_REPORT_OBJECT_PROPERTY(repid, REPORT_OTHER,
'p1='| |to_char(:block.p1_field)
' p2='| |to_char(:block.p2_field)
' p3='| |to_char(:block.p3_field)
' paramfrom=no');
v_rep := RUN_REPORT_OBJECT(repid);
EXIT_FORM;
END;
In one of my reports, after the report was invoked on the previewer window and I closed it, an unhandled exception error message appears.
Are there any restrictions on the length of REPORT_OTHER parameters/value, as in this form, there are quite a number of parameters set to passed into the reports?
I did not encounter this problem when running the report using the default REPORTS PARAMETER FORM to pass in the parameter. It is only when I pass in through FORMS using SET_REPORT_OBJECT_PROPERTY, then the error appears.
I did not encounter this error with other reports which have little parameters.
Regards,
Hon Koat

Pang,
Not sure it this will make the problem go away, but you could try to send the parameters in a parameter list, instead of setting the REPORT_OTHER values.
The syntax is the same you use to pass parameter list from one form to another:
declare
repid REPORT_OBJECT;
v_rep VARCHAR2(100);
v_list paramlist;
c_listname constant varchar2(30) := 'my_list';
begin
repid := FIND_REPORT_OBJECT('MY_REPORT');
v_list := get_parameter_list(c_listname);
if not id_null(v_list) then
destroy_parameter_list(v_list);
end if;
v_list := create_parameter_list(c_listname);
add_parameter(v_list, 'P1', text_parameter, to_char(:block.p1_field));
add_parameter(v_list, 'P2', text_parameter, to_char(:block.p2_field));
v_rep := RUN_REPORT_OBJECT(repid, v_list);
end;Hope this solves your problem,

Is it possible to pass the variable instead of values.
My report receives 2 parameters named p1 & p2. Actually I want to pass that parameters to the form from the report.
I have tried as You said.
//http/.........&otherparams=param1=:p1+param2=:p2
Then the form receives the ":p1" as the value, it does not take the value of that variable p1.
