Passing values Servlet

Gentlemans, I'm studying http techniques to optimize my application. And the security question happens. What the best form to pass parameters to an servlet? Today, I pass throught URL, for example:
http://www.test.com/test.jsf?value=myvalue&othervalue=myothervalue
But this form is so verbose, and could happens a security issue, which the best forms to pass parameters without expose my variables and values?

Make use of http POST request.
Also, you could find many tutorials on how to establish an http POST request in J2ME/MIDP on the web.

  • Servlet passing values to JSP and ClasscastException

    I am using weblogic 5.1 to run my Servlets.
              I want to know when I forward from a servlet to a JSP how do I pass
              values especially Java Objects (Sometimes Objects of User written Java
              classes).
              Uptil now I have been putting all values in the session from where the
              JSP picks them up, but somehow I have a feeling that this is not the
              right way.
              In a code I am putting a Java Object (It contains two attributes of
              Java.util.Vector type) in the session so that the JSP to which I am
              forwarding it to can use it I have put my class in the ServletClasses.
              Intertestingly it runs well till the contents of the Vector are changed.
              As the contents of the vector are changed, it throws ClassCastException
              The StackTrace is as follows:

    Only can confirm your finding - the jsp is using a different class loader to the servlet that originally instantiated the object. There's the rub. I haven't figured out yet how to fix that. I can get the classloader but don't know how to get the runtime to use that class loader to perform cast.

              Suppose my servlet is forwarding to a jsp . What should it do in case an

              Putting the Exception object in the session is an alternative but I
              wonder that is the best approach.
              If someone knows a better way od doing it, please help.

    You could probably use setAttribute
              ..before forwarding the control to JSP.
              req.setAttribute("message", "Hello, world");
              ServletContext app = getServletContext();
              RequestDispatcher disp;
              disp = app.getRequestDispatcher("Dispmessage.jsp");
              Cheers,

  • HOW TO PASS VALUE TO STORED PROCEDURE through page

    Hi
    I want to create generate next number on base of type. I have created stored procedure with passing  three value input. If I am passing value manually through page then next number is generating. But I don't to pass value manually, I have to assign value internally as per database record.
    Sameh Nassar: Create PL/SQL Function And Call It From Your ADF Application
    I did same thing in my application,It is working,Output like that
    Value = INV
    Result= 26400080
    Now I have to assign value TRANSCATION  TYPE through bean class or  assign another textbox value. I did in my program in the following ways
       <af:inputText value="INV"
                                                              label="#{bindings.p_transaction_type.hints.label}"
                                                              required="#{bindings.p_transaction_type.hints.mandatory}"
                                                              columns="#{bindings.p_transaction_type.hints.displayWidth}"
                                                              maximumLength="#{bindings.p_transaction_type.hints.precision}"
                                                              shortDesc="#{bindings.p_transaction_type.hints.tooltip}"
                                                              id="it16" binding="#{InvoiceJobOrderBean.transacation_type}"
                                                              partialTriggers="it16">
                                                    <f:validator binding="#{bindings.p_transaction_type.validator}"/>
                                                </af:inputText>
    then  I got the following error.

    hi user,
    please don't continue  your discussion on others thread.
    https://forums.oracle.com/thread/369112
    it will be treated as hijacking.  Admin will lock out the thread. and your problem is contrary to the thread.
    coming to your problem,
    did you ever get a chance to read the error it is self explanatory. or else goggle it out to understand.
    It is not operation binding problem. while invoking the operation binding you are calling some db function from there you caught.
    coming to your requirement,
    create generate next number on base of type. please check will multi user environment it working properly or not.

  • JSP Custom Tags, Tag Handlers, Passing values

    Multiple questions here while I try to work with custom tags (its a requirement):
    From what I have had so far - I have a .tld file, a .java file and a .jsp page.
    (this is not a working version as I just got it from a website)
    platform: tomcat on an xp box.
    I was wondering if we can pass the parameters that are passed to the the jsp page (like blah.jsp?param1=value1&param2=valu2 ) to the tag handler?
    This is because the processing that I need to do in the handler would depend on what I have in the passed values.
    Any help in letting me know where to place those files on the tomcat context root would help. Please see, I do have a couple of servlets running on the box also and they might be in the same context root.
    Any good short tutorial link is also welcome as a short answer as I try to unravel the custom tags in jsp.

    I am using TomCat 5.5
    What I need to do using tags is to build a web-page on the fly by polling a couple of different tables in the database.
    This is to be done using a jsp and custom tag (requirement) which would be able to handle any resultsets. We also have to come up with pageContext attribute names and supply column names as those attributes. Thus we will have to come up with the meta data file and a tag library descriptor as well.
    I found a helloworld solution on a website and was trying to modify it to meet my needs. But I guess I under-estimated the work that needed to be done in this one.

  • How to Pass values from XML to JSP??? Urgent Please Help me

    Hi guys,
    I am new to XML, I want to pass values from XML to JSP. I have a xml file with attributes, I should send this values to a JSP file. How is it??? Please Help guys.... its very urgent. Please send me how to do it with an example or atleast any urls related that....
    Looking for ur favourable reply.
    Thanks in advance,
    Sridhar

    in a servlet :
    parse your xml file (see how at the end of the post) and
    put the values you want in the request attributes
    request.setAttribute("value1", value1);
    ...redirect to the jsp
    in the JSP:
    get the wanted attributes:
    String value1=(String)request.getAttribute("value1");To learn how to parse a xml file, pay a look at this page, it explains how to read the XML document to build an object representation, and then how to navigate through this object to get the data

  • Pass value to an application ...

    hi Gurus,
    Is it possible to pass values to an external application using java code.[ no JSPs and servlets involved ]
    Guide me!!!
    Regards,
    -Nags

    Yes. Use the Runtime and Process classes:
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/api/java/lang/Runtime.html
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/api/java/lang/Process.html
    An example for listing a directory on a UNIX platform:
    import java.io.*;
    public class Test {
        public static void main(String[] args) throws Exception {
            Runtime runtime = Runtime.getRuntime();
            Process process = runtime.exec(new String[] { "ls", "-alF", args[0] });
            process.waitFor();
            BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(process.getInputStream()));
            for (String s = br.readLine(); s != null; s = br.readLine()) {
                System.out.println(s);
    }This simple code does not check for exit codes, or error messages.

  • Background Job pass value

    Hi, I am calling a Background job in my program. I am using JOB_OPEN, JOB_SUBMIT and JOB_CLOSE FM to start a job. My need is to pass a value to the job program(job program doesnt have any selection screen values). Is their any way without creating variants each time to pass value to it.
    Please advice.....

    Hello,
    You can first use  JOB_OPEN which returns job number. Then build ranges or parameters to use SUBMIT to call the program.
    Eg: SUBMIT RM06BB20 AND RETURN
          WITH S_EKGRP IN R_EKGRP
          WITH S_EKORG IN R_EKORG
          WITH S_FLIEF IN R_FLIEF
          WITH S_KONNR IN R_KONNR
          USER sy-uname VIA JOB w_jobname
          NUMBER w_job_number.
    Now use JOB_CLOSE.
    Thanks,
    Venu

  • Passing values from a FORM to another FORM

    Hi,
    I have to pass values from FORM "A" to FORM "B". What is the best way to do this?\
    Can I use a GLOBAL variable?
    Thanks,
    Marc.

    I think he meant the global namespace.
    You set a :global_your_name_here to a value and that value is available in your entire application. See the help file section on the global namespace for more information.
    Forms parameters are parameters that you form picks up from the outside when it starts. The calling entity must supply them in the URL or they will be set to null. You set them up in the object navigator in the Parameters node.

  • Passing Value from Crystal Report (special function) to Business View parameter

    Friends,
                 Í have a scenario where i need to pass value from Crystal Report to a Business view's parameter.
    Eg : CurrentCEUsername (func in crystal report)-- gives login user  which i should pass to parameter in a Business view (used in the same report).
    Will be able to explain more if required.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Bharath

    I guess you got the picture wrong.  User_id is not a report_level parameter .
    In Data Foundation, below query is used..
    select Acc_Number, Account_Group,User_id  from Accounts where user_id={?User_id}
    where in {?User_id}  is the BV parameter...
    The Filter was a solution. But it takes long time to Query all the data from DB and then filter at BV level.
    How do i pass the CurrentCEUsername to {?User_id}
    Value should ve CurrentCEusername always. so that query will be
    select Acc_Number, Account_Group,User_id  from Accounts where user_id=CurrentCEusername
    It will restrict the data pulled from DB to BV .. right?

    kromosom?Just out of curiosity. How did you expect that to be possible? You have an array of many ints and now you want to squeeze all of them into just one int?
    Or do you want to read one int from the array and assign it to an int variable? This is how you read the first one,
    myValue = kromosom[0];
