Passing Values Via the URL

Hello all,
First off im pretty new to Apex and the Apex forums so Hello! 
Im currently trying to create an Application which contrains a report. Now the report has a Source which contains the following:
 
SELECT 'a href="f?p=' || v('APP_ID') || ':7:' || v('SESSION') || ':' || ID || ':P7_TBname:' || v('APP_PAGE_ID') || '" INVALIDATE</a>' Invalidate,
 
now this seems to be corrently passing the Page number forwards, however I'm at a loss as to how to now remove this number from the URL and place it in a text box on page 7.
 
Can any one help me out on this one?

Found the problem,
For any one searching in the future:
The URL had the item values and name in the wrong section of the URL, as it was they were in the Debug and clear cash sections. Adding two : before the name solved this. For reference see this:
f?p=App:Page:Session:Request:Debug:ClearCache:itemNames:itemValues:PrinterFriendly

I have built a calendar called cal_test. I am calling this calendar with this URL:
http://.../pls/.../xyz.cal_test.show?p_arg_names=p_sc_id&p_arg_values=2&p_arg_names=_start_date&p_arg_values=FEB-2002
In the 'Additional PL/SQL Code' tab of cal_test, I need to call a procedure which requires me to pass in as parameters the values of p_sc_id and startdate embedded in the URL named above. How can I retrieve these 2 values from the URL ? Any advice will be appreicated !

Passing values to a URL

Hello All,
i have created a php page that uploads files to the server and i call this page using a button in my apex application i've created a button that redirect to the url of this page now the problem is when calling the url i must pass parameters to the PHP page from containing some values of items on my apex application.
the url is like the following:
http://application.kwtfire.gov.kw/i/upload/insert.php?user=&APP_USER.&req_id=:P27_REQ_ID
now the first parameter is passed correctly but the other one is not it keeps giving me the item name with the i've sent (:P27_REQ_ID)
i want to know how i can pass a value of item in apex through URL?

Sultan,
You actually not passing the values with apex. You're using apex to dynamically generate a link that will pass values. The first variable you used, app_user, was correct. The second was not - it was using bind variable syntax not substitution...
&ITEM_NAME.
Notice the trailing "."
Try the following:
http://application.kwtfire.gov.kw/i/upload/insert.php?user=&APP_USER.&req_id=&P27_REQ_ID.

Is it possible to reference additional parameters via the URL?
I would like to be able to reference the value of CUSTOM_PARAM in the following simple example

I dont know if you already solved the problem but as you probably noticed I had the same, if you are running on a remote host with minimum privileges this is simply not possible but if you have your personal server and database this is the solution to go(thanks to your idea).

Then it is important to indeed grant public access to it with:
grant execute on APEX_040000.f2 to public;
Now here comes to part that actually does it and where the right privileges are needed.

Overloading the F procedure didnt work for some reason, probably because F is a wrapped procedure.
But this worked perfect !!!

GUID via the URL

I am looking for a possibility to navigate from an eMail to a specific item in the portal. I think I would be able to navigate to e.g. the Portfolio Manager role.
But how to display a specific item? Is there any possibility to pass the item GUID via the URL?
And
When i open the portal and then click on all projects and then move on to a project.
Instead I want a link which will directly take me to the individual project.

How do I pass value to 'getURL' url variable

Howdy,
I`m trying to launch a popup from a flash form using MX 7
The popup works fine but I cant for the life of me work out how to pass 'theid' value to the url variable for the popup window.
I think somthing like this can be done with action script and maybe a cfc but I really dont know how.
You will notice I referenced 'theid' value directly, I know this will never work but just wanted to show what i was trying to acheive. If I were using a HTML form I could use some javascrip to get the element by id and append the value to the url. Is there away to do this in action script?

I answered my own question, heres is a solution if anyone is interested..
You can add the following actionscript to the onChange attribute of the select box. Its passes the value of the selected index to the URL and opens in a new window :-)
No there is no need for a hidden field or a button either

Try clearing Safari's cache : Settings > Safari > Clear Cache (and Clear History)
If that doesn't work then try closing Safari completely and then re-open it : from the home screen (i.e. not with Safari 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Safari app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
A third option is a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

Dear Experts,
How can I pass values to the FM 'HR_MAINTAIN_MASTERDATA' to create pernr?
In the PROPOSED_VALUES tables I am passing the values for infotypes and subinfo types.
The values are picked up for infotypes with no subtype , but for infotypes with more than one subtype the values are not getting passed.
I am getting an error message 'Fill in all required entry fields' for the second subtype's mandatory field.
I am trying to update Address (Infotype 6) with subtypes 1 and 5.

please try to create one manually with subtype 5 i.e second sub type
Go to pa30
select subty 5
and try create record manually
it will enable that what are the manual fields fill those fileds
I belive you must missing city field or pin
Please check make wht fields are needed and give those fields

How to retrieve query string value from the URL in my portlet

Hi,
When user clicks on "Advance Search", i am redirecting to page in the community. At the same i am adding some more values to the query string (to the URL).
My URL will look like this.
http://ctp-mc0149/portal/server.pt?space=CommunityPage&parentname=CommunityPage&parentid=0&in_hi_userid=200&cached=true&control=SetCommunity&PageID=202&CommunityID=200&searchType=2
Now in one of my portlet in that page, i want to retrieve the query string values from the URL.
Please help me regarding this.

I am trying to get some variables into a loaded swf at
runtime. The variables will carry information so the swf can load
the correct xml file. I thought we could pass them through the URL
string like so:

but it just throws an URL cannot be found error. How can I
get variables into my swf at runtime?

What you are doing is fine. But you will always get that
error when testing
the movie (Ctrl+Enter). Try it in a browser and it should
work.
BTW, another way of doing the same is to use a URLVariables
object, like so:

I had program runnning fine in labview version 5.0, Recently i updated to labview version 6.0, but when i opened file i will see many warnings like above.
I saved the file as 6.0, all the warnings are gone and program compiles as well but i am not sure saving as 6.0 eliminate those problems like..."value will not be coereced when passed to subvis"

It means that some of your controls use coercion to alter data if it is not within a range. In LV 5.0 this worked for either typing the data into the control or passing it through the connector as a sub-vi. In 6.0 the data won't be coerced if it has been passed through the connector as a sub-vi, only if it is entered on the front panel. If your sub-vis relied on this coercion to operate properly then you will need to add the "In Range and Coerce" function to your block diagram to manipulate these values. If the coercion wasn't important then disregard the warning.

How to get the query values from the url in a servlet and pass them to jsp

ok..this is the situation...
all applications are routed through a login page...
so if we have a url like www.abc.com/appA/login?param1=A&param2=B , the query string must be passed onto a servlet(which is invoked before the login page is displayed)..the servlet must process the query string and then should pass all those values(as hidden values) to the login jsp..then user enters username and pswd, then there should be another servlet which takes all the hidden values of jsp and also username and pswd, authenticates the user and sends the control back to that particular application along with the hidden values...
so i need help on how to parse the query string from the original url in the servlet, pass it out to jsp, and then pass it back to the servlet and back to the original application...damnn...any help would be greatly appreciated...thanks

ok..this is the situation...Sounds like you have a bad design on your hands.
You're going to send passwords in a GET request as clear text? Nice security there.
Why not start with basic security and work your way up?

How to pass values of the prompt through Action Link - URL in 11g

I am in OBIEE 11g v6.
Let's say, I have two dashbaord pages P1 and P2.
P1 page contains
1. Prompt PR1 - containing a single column EmpName
2. Report R1
P2 page contains
1. Prompt PR2 - containing a single column EmpName (same column as in PR1)
2. Report R2
Requirement :
Let's say a user select a value = David from the EmpName column in prompt PR1. In the Report R1, on one the measure columns 'Sales', I am using an action link - Navigate to URL ( I can't use Navigate to BI Content for some reasons). In the URL, I am giving the URL to page P2. Can I pass the selected value (which is David) to the EmpName column of the Prompt PR2 of Page P2 so that Report R2 is automatically limited by David when I land on that page through the URL?
Few things to consider are, I can't use EmpName column in my report R1 on page P1, I just want to pass the value of a common column from one prompt on Page1 to another prompt on Page2. Is that possible. Can anybody please help?

Hmm can you give a try one more time with
Add EmpName name and hide it on report R1 on page P1
and set EmpName as Is Prompted on report R2 on page P2 and with my earlier steps should work.
Other option is read this doc once that helps you how to pass value thru url.

Pass parameter to apex page via the URL

Hi, I need to pass a parameter into a page that will be used in a query inside a report region,
e.g report region query is
select link_id, page_id, menu_parent_id, link_text, link_url
from portal_pages
where page_id = :page_id
So the page will display different links depending on what value is passed to the page in the variable.
I know with normal URL syntax it would be something like
http://www.domain.com/page.html&page_id=1 (where page_id is a hidden variable in apex)
but how do I do this with an apex page like :-
http://host:port/pls/apex/f?p=123:9 <what goes here ? and what goes in the page for it to work>

Passing value via cookies to the ITS

I would like to known if any of you knowns if it is possible to pass values through cookie on the ITS?

The problem is that I need to pass the value of the cookie to the back-end. The way that I see it, the solutions You propose will require that I first read the value of the cookie with JavaScript, assigns the value to a form input and submits the page again. In essence I need to render the page twice in order to pass the value.
What I was looking/hoping for, was a way/FM to read the value of the cookie from the back-end (the ABAP program behind the Internet Service).
