Passing variable to the package

Hi,
I have package which is used to read the XML hirarerchy file and inserts the data into seven tables. Now i have one more different XML hirarerchy file which makes use of same package but just different table names and loads the data into another different seven tables.
So i have to run the package two separate times with different table names and different file name. Is there any way i can just run the package by passing variables to select file names and tables to insert data into two sets of different tables.
I hope i m not confusing you guys..
say
package A -- > XML file A --> seven Tables(part A)
Package B(Same as package 'A', but just different table names) --> XML file B -- > Seven tables (Part B)
My question can i make use of variables to select the file name and table names at run time of package ?? if so, how do i do it, any code example would be great ??
Thank you so much !!! your assistance is greatly appreciated.

I think you can change the table name with help of Dynamic Sql.
Can you please send the example so that we can modify it with help of dynamic sql.

  • Can I pass variables in the URL string?

    I am trying to get some variables into a loaded swf at
    runtime. The variables will carry information so the swf can load
    the correct xml file. I thought we could pass them through the URL
    string like so:
    new URLRequest("testing.swf?myVar=varOne
    but it just throws an URL cannot be found error. How can I
    get variables into my swf at runtime?

    What you are doing is fine. But you will always get that
    error when testing
    the movie (Ctrl+Enter). Try it in a browser and it should
    work.
    BTW, another way of doing the same is to use a URLVariables
    object, like so:
    var req:URLRequest = new URLRequest("testing.swf");
    var vars:URLVariables = new
    URLVariables("myVar=varOne&myVar2=varTwo");
    req.data = vars;

  • How to pass variable in the place of numeric value?

    Hi,
    my requirement is i want to validate the selection screen block width.
    I have created tabbed selection screen.
    i need in which variable tab lengh values will be stored
    ex:-
    selection-screen: begin of tabbed block MYTAB for 10 lines,
                      TAB (20) button1 USER-COMMAND push1,
                      TAB (20) button2 USER-COMMAND push2,
    end of block MYTAB.
    here in the above code i want to pass variable instead of directly numeric value as 10.
    because based on some conditions i want to change the number of lines.
    how to do this...plz urgent, i will give all the points to anybody who given good answer.
    Thanks in Advance,

    Hi!
    And that's why God created macros.
    DEFINE seltab.
    selection-screen: begin of tabbed block MYTAB for &1 lines,
    TAB (20) button1 USER-COMMAND push1,
    TAB (20) button2 USER-COMMAND push2,
    end of block MYTAB.
    END-OF-DEFINITION.
    DATA: lv_lines TYPE i VALUE 10.

  • Passing variables using the URL

    in the past I have alsways used internal navigation methods
    within Flex - i.e. viewStacks, and linkBars etc... but I need to
    use an (existing) external menu and link (communicate) it to my
    Flex Application.....
    is it possible to pass variable to (into) a flex 2
    application using a URL
    e.g.
    http://...............
    ?page=homepage
    picking this variable ("page") up and getting its value (in
    this case "homepage")
    and then use the variable in the Flex application to display
    the relevent component...... ???
    basically, I am trying to navigate through a Flex application
    using an external menu system etc...... and displaying the
    particular components within the Flex application relevent to the
    select links (within the external menu system) communicating the
    two using a URL etc......
    thanks,
    Jon.

    Passing data into a Flex app using the url on startup
    requires working with the html handler, causing it to build
    flashvars in the Embed or Object tag. Inside Flex, these are
    accessed using the Application.parameters array.
    But it sounds like you want ongoing communication between the
    Flex app and the browser. For this you should use
    ExternalInterface. I have not used it at all, so I can't be any
    specific help.

  • Passing variable threw the url to flash

    Is it possible to pass variables to a flash obect threw the
    url and how would the url look?
    something like this?
    http://critcore.wisc-online.org/cri...ml?Objectid=183
    then I would request the objectid in flash using send and
    load? Or how would I retrieve that?
    Thanks for your help I appreciate it

    it would look like:
    http://www.yoursite.com?theVariable1=var1&theVariable2=var2
    in flash you just access it with _level0 ie:
    trace(_level0.theVariable1);
    trace(_level0.theVariable2);

  • Passing variables on the URL

    Is it possibe to pass variables into edge from the URL? I can see a scenario where you could send people a link like site.com/myedgeanimation/?=bob or site.com/myedgeanimation/?=alice and BOB and ALICE could each get a personalized animation.

    Hi,
    If you want to implement the equivalent of Flashvars, you will find an example here.

  • Pass Variable to SSIS Package through SQL JOB -2012

    So here is what i am trying to do.
    I have a EXECUTE SQL Task - that executes a Stored Procedure with a Parameter. EXEC dbo.Procedure @Variable
    I have deployed this SSIS on Server - Now i want to pass different values to this variable using SQL JOB at different times.
    How can i achieve this in SQL 2012.

    Hi there,
    MSDN is pretty clear on that:
    Map Query Parameters to Variables in an Execute SQL Task

  • Passing variables through the URL String

    I have a template and outside the basic html - all the content is grabbed from a db. I want to use 1 template to generate all of the other pages for the site. So basically, the only way to identify the page would be through the URL string.
    So, something like -
    www.mysite.com/template.jsp?page_section=aboutus&pageID=1
    That string would query the database and output the content for page 1 of the about section.
    Does this make sense and where would I start to learn how this is done?.
    Again, I appreciate your help.
    Mark

    since database connections are costly affair i better use
    jsp include tag ratter then getting dadta from database
    assumming that u can devide your comman pages in 4 parts
    just assume
    top - logo
    bottom - common links
    center - data
    left - menu
    my jsp page would look like this (aboutus.jsp)
    <%@ include file="top.html" %>
    <%@ include file="left.html" %>
    <%@ include file="aboustus.html" %>
    <%@ include file="bottom.html" %>
    2) disclaimer.jsp
    <%@ include file="top.html" %>
    <%@ include file="left.html" %>
    <%@ include file="disclaimer.html" %>
    <%@ include file="bottom.html" %>
    this would reduce ur maintainnce as if u want to change top logo only top.html needs to be changed and it would affect in all pages

  • Variable refreshing in package header

    Hello Experts,
    Through a function in my package header I fill up a global variable. The function gets the value out of a table in my database:
    PV_FILENAME PARAMETERS.VALUE%TYPE DL$PARAMETERS.VALUE_BY_NAME('FILE_NAME'); This works fine, however when I change the value in the table and commit the changes the problem begins.
    When I execute the following statement to check if the value changed:
    select DL$PARAMETERS.VALUE_BY_NAME('FILE_NAME') from dual;It shows me the new value...
    But the variable in the package still contains the old value. When I restart sql developer the variable adjusts.
    Does anyone know what I can do? It seems like the package is caching the value or something. Or is it obligatory to put global variables in the body?
    greets
    Edited by: iadgroe on May 21, 2012 6:37 AM

    Hello Arun,
    I can check this because the return value I use in the function is the name of an xml file (e.g. 'xmlfile_1.xml'):
    SELECT .....
    FROM XMLTABLE('/employees/employee' PASSING XMLTYPE(BFILENAME(PV_DIRECTORY, -->PV_FILENAME<--), NLS_CHARSET_ID('AL32UTF16'))
    COLUMNS USERNAME VARCHAR2(20) PATH './name/userName' , TIMEREG XMLTYPE PATH './timeRegistration/days' ) H,
        XMLTABLE('days/day' PASSING H.TIMEREG COLUMNS TIMESHEET_DATUM In the above code I use the name to retrieve the xml file. I insert the data in the xml file into one of my own tables.
    When I change the value of the xml-name(e.g. 'xmlfile_2.xml') in my table that the function returns, the variable should reference another xml-file. However when I execute the procedure in my package it still insert data from the previous xml(xmlfile_1.xml) file into my table.
    I this clear enough? :-)
    Thanks a lot!

  • Error produced when trying to pass variables to a Matlab script

    For some reason, LabVIEW produces an Error 1047 (Unable to pass variable to the script server) whenever I create an input variable to a Matlab code block.
    Outputs work fine (for example, connecting an output "a" to a Matlab code block that says "a=rand(50)" correctly produces a 50x50 array of random numbers that can be displayed in LabVIEW). However, creating any kind of input node, whether or not the associated variable is mentioned in the MATLAB script, brings up an error 1047.
    Any ideas what could be causing this? I'm using LabVIEW 7.0 and MATLAB 7 (R14). I've read the article
    >here and that's not the problem, and I've also updated my matscript.dll to the latest version, 7.0.0.2, which also made no difference.

    For what its worth,
    I work in a company with a lot of Matlab users, and I,m programming in Labview and Matlab.
    When I create a testrig measurement I always have to convert data into Malab format, so I used the script server a lot... exept we have a limited pool of Matlab
    licenses so my work was halted whenever the licences where gone.
    So I wrote a Write2Matlab vi.
    This vi can log data from a measurement and write it in a Matlab readable file format (Matlab6 R12).
    After logging you can append more data. It works with(Double,Single,Int32,Int16,U16,U8,String) matrix see for yourself in an example (Write2matlab_test.vi).
    Perhaps this is an alternative solution for your problem.
    Please send me a reply if you find it usefull.

  • How to pass variables between loaders

    Hi,
    I am trying to load an image, with descriptive text and a back button on the click of a thumbnail of the image. I am using a MovieClipLoader instance to do this.
    Here are my problems:
    1. I tried loading the image, with the text(which is within an external swf), using the same loader, but since I am placing them dynamically, depending on the dimensions of the image, I need to pass variables between the two. The image loader is taking longer than the text (obviously) but I need the dimensions of the image before I can place the text. How do I do that??
    2. I tried using two loaders, with separate listeners, and the problem once again is that the text loads before the image, and is hence placed with default values instead of the values derived from the image. The code is within onLoadInit(). Is it possible for me to get the dimensions of the image from onLoadStart()???
    3. There is a back button within the text.swf. I want the image and the text.swf to be unloaded when this button is clicked. How can I achieve that? Can I call loader.unloadClip(target), from within this? Will it recognize the variable?
    4. Is there a much easier way to do this, which I am sadly unaware of?
    Any help will be appreciated.

    Tried the onloadstart() function, but it gives target._width and _height as 0. So that is ruled out...any other suggestions?

  • Variable scope in package

    I have some procedures in a package that need almost the same type of variables. Now, lets say I put them in the package spec in the private variable declaration part so that all the procedures use the same variables instead of declaring them inside all procedures. Now, if someone is executing those procs simultaneously will Oracle Oracle create a separate instance of those variables or use the same copy of the variables for all the simultaneously executing procedures?
    Also, is it a good practise to put these variables in the package body section so that they become public?

    another question!
    is it advisable to put some kind of driver proc in the package such that its job is just to invoke other procs of the package when called like:
    create or replace package body mypack is
    procedure proc proc_main(params) is
    begin
    proc1(params); --invoke other procs
    proc2(params);
    procn(params);
    end ;--end of proc
    --package initialization section
    begin
    proc_main(params);
    end; --end of package

    Thank you for response, Paul.
    Have you ever used statspack? or sppurge.sql?
    When you run $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin/sppurge.sql, it waits for user to enter losnapid and hisnapid manually from the keyboard.
    My trouble is to have a script to delete old snapshot which are 3 weeks old. So I create min_snapid.sql and max_snapid.sql to hold two variables.
    Based on your solution, I tried it but it doesn't work.
    It returns the error messages as following....
    Warning
    ~~~~~~~
    sppurge.sql deletes all snapshots ranging between the lower and
    upper bound Snapshot Id's specified, for the database instance
    you are connected to.
    You may wish to export this data before continuing.
    the purge, it is still possible to do so. Exitting from SQL*Plus will
    automatically commit the purge.
  • How to pass variable in a function
    I would like to ask how to pass the value "char" into the
    "onSoundComplete" function? many thanks! many thanks!
    _root.playVO = function(pageNum, char){
    var myVO:Sound = new Sound();
    myVO.loadSound("vo/vo" + pageNum + ".mp3", true);
    _root.myVO.onSoundComplete = function(char){
    _root.attachMovie("indicator", "indicator",
    _global.curLevel++);
    _root[char].mouth.gotoAndStop("mute");
    _root.indicator.clickIndicator_btn.onRelease = function(){
    _root.play();
    _root.currentPage++;
    _root.display(_root.currentPage);
    this._parent.removeMovieClip();
    }
    I don't think you can pass variables into the onSoundComplete
    handler function. But you don't really need to as you've written
    the code. You're passing it into the playVO function so it should
    be availble to the onComplete handler (which you've written inside
    playVO) without having to restate it. As long as you pass it in
    when calling playVO (e.g. playVO(myVar);)
    Hope that helps!
