Patchburn, what does it do? do i need it?
I have an NEC dual layer burner that I purchased to use externally on my powerbook. I am now interested in putting it in my sawtooth 400mhx powermac but a friend told me I will need to run some type of patchburn software or something? His reasoning was that I wont be able to boot off the disc drive if I ever have any problems and need to reinstall with ym tiger disc or anything like that. Is this true? Basically what I would like to know is what I must do to get the drive to be fully functional on my sawtooth. thanks

I had to use Patchburn to make the iApps work but with iLife version 6, my third party drives works without patchburn. Patchburn creates a profile for the drive that the OS can interact with.

The other consideration is the price-points of various data plans, they differ between size and cost.
But all plans are month-to-month, meaning that you can turn the service off anytime you want, and for as long as you want, but when you activate 3G service you pay for 30 days of service regardless if you turn 3G off (so turn it off on the 29th day if you won't need 3G next month). You can do all of this right from the iPad, and you don't have to set anything up at the time of purchase (other than choose your carrier). okay so last night i went to charge my ipod in the computer and it started working then i took it out of the computer and put it on a wall charger and it had a spasm attack and shut itself down, after that it said i had to connect it to itunes so when i did it kept telling me that i need to restore my ipod, but when i press restore the itunes said "the contact server is not avalible" or something similar to that, what does that actually mean and is there anyway i can fix my ipod. i have dropped my ipod a few times, on tiles, wood, in a gutter of water when it fell out my pocket but im also wondering is it something to do with my ipod or is it itunes?

Help! I'm in UK and need to recharge but when I plug in (using a power converter) the square white unit is buzzing - what does it mean? I am using a power adaptor that works for other items - shaver, phone etc. and they don't buzz - it's coming from the square white unit before it's connected to the computer so I don't want to then connect my mac incase it means there's something wrong. If you're using a converter that changes the voltage from the UK ~230V to say 120V, rather than just a converter to different outlet/plug/socket sizes - then that's likely the problem.
All the Apple power units I've seen are rated from 100V to 240V & do not require any sort of voltage converter, just something to let you plug it into a UK outlet (or an Apple cable/connector set). Many cheap voltage converters can cause buzzing as you've described.
Many supermarkets & hardware/general stores will sell the right 'adaptor' for a couple of £UK - I'd find one rather than continue with the buzzing. -

What do you mean it comes up and stops you?
No you don't need Genius. If it's just an extra feature of the device.
Looking for a bit more detail as to what is happening and what you are doing to make it happen.

Yes, home sharing requires both to be on the same wifi network. As it stands access to the network requires the login via webpage, which cannot be done on Apple TV. You will need to speak to IT in order to grant access for the device.

You can't do a backup of icloud to an external drive. In fact, does your post have anything to do with icloud (you're in the icloud forum)?
What kind of "system backup" are you doing? Are you using Time Machine?
