Patchset and PSU installation order

Hi, I am upgrading from 10.2.0.4 to 10.2.0.5.4 and I am wondering what is correct order
1) Install patchset 10.2.0.5, then upgrade database and then install PSU 10.2.0.5.4
2) Install patchset 10.2.0.5, install PSU 10.2.0.5.4 and then upgrade database
thanks, hs

You can follow the step 2. Once you run the upgrade of the database, it will run the post install scripts that you would have needed to run for the PSU install

  • Installation order and dependencies of Essbase Products

    Hi Experts,
I am soon to start a fresh EPM Installation on SUN SOLARIS SPARC. Just wanted to know the Installation order and dependencies on each services. The Instllation would be a Websphere based on 64 bit SUN SOL OS with 11.1.3.
the following are the essbase production which i have to Install.
    Essbase Analytical services
    Essbase Administration Services
    Essbase Shared services
Application Provider services ( for Smart View ).
at present i am going thru the Read me Installation docs for all products, Would be great if you can give me a quick order of Installation so i can concentracte accordingly.
any quick reference DOC will also help
    Cheers
    MS

The installation order is not so important as the installer should install the components correctly, just install the products you want to on each machine.
When configuring you would configure shared services registry and shared services first.
It is worth reading through the install and config doc http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E12825_01/epm.111/epm_install_11114/launch.html
    Installation sequence http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E12825_01/epm.111/epm_install_11114/ch03s01.html
"EPM System Installer enables you to install, configure, and deploy multiple products on a machine at one time. EPM System Installer installs components in the correct order, so you can select as many products as you want to install on a machine at one time"

  • Tecra A10 - Installation order for XP, additional Windows updates and JRE

    Hello,
Sorry to post a new thread but the old one " [Tecra A10 - Installation order for XP|http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=45611] " being closed and my question relates to the same topic.
I got hold of a Tecra A10 PTSB0A-002001 and I would like to install XP SP3 on it so the order in which to install Toshiba additionnal drivers is very useful. Thank you Ivan25 for that information.
Toshiba also include a Java Runtime Environment 2 package which I was planning to replace by a JSE 7. I would like to know in which order it has to be installed?
Furthermore, after installing XP SP3 there are still hundreds of Windows updates to apply, should those Windows updates be installed straight after XP SP3 setup or after Toshiba drivers?
Thank you in advance for your help
    Cheers

    Hi Francesco_1,
Thank you for you reply. I did install JRE 7 in fact because JRE 2 is a bit out-dated.
For information, the "ALPS Pointing-device Driver" returned errors but all went fine when Iinstalled Vista 32bit driver instead of XP 32bits
Another question, is with regards to "Intel(R) Matrix Storage Manager(iMSM) ". Since, we have to install SATA HDD drivers during Windows XP setup, is it necessary to run again the "Intel(R) Matrix Storage Manager(iMSM)" which might overwrite the SATA driver installed at the beginning of the setup?
I agree with you that WXP might not be the best choice, but I need to run some older software that do not work yet under W7, especially under W7 64bits! I am planning on having a boot lodaer anyway, which will allow me to start MS-DOS, XP, W7 or Linux depending on the need.
    Cheers

  • Home Environment - How to set up Update Retriever (UR) and Thin Installer (TI) in a home environment

    Serenityvalley wrote:
You need to go to This Page and download just about everything on it -espeically the  System Update Deployment Guide and start reading.  It'll take you a few hours to learn what you need to do and implement it if you are familar with editing system registeries and you have some luck and everything goes well.
You do NOT need to edit registry, just use Thin Installer instead of System Update on the clients. And there is no need to wade thru the deployment guide if you are setting this up in a home environment for just one or two clients.
Edit: Note that Thin Installer does not run on Vista SP2 (neither does System Update.)
Here are the few simple things you have to do:
    1. Download Update Retriever (UR) and Thin Installer (TI) from here.
    2. Install UR on one pc and TI on all clients you want to keep updated. UR installs into the Start -- All Programs -- Thinkvantage folder, TI installs into c:\program files\thininstaller.
    3. To initialize Update Retriever:
    a) specify the download folder, pick a place all clients can access. Create a new folder, TI will be confused if there is other stuff in it.
    b) change the settings to Severity -- Optional (assuming you want to see critical, recommended and optional downloads in the list), License -- Do not display and Status -- Active. After clicking next you enter the machine type, the op system and its language for each client you need to keep updated. Note that unless you change status to active everything will download as "test" and thus not be installed by the Thin Installer.
    4. Run the download, about 1 - 1.5GB for the first type, opsys and language combination  and an additional 0.5 - 1GB for each additional type depending on amount of overlap. You can be selective what you download but if you are an average home user -- just download all the items for your type/opsys/language combination(s) -- Thin Installer is a stripped down version of System Update and will decide what to install on the individual client. This is a one-time download, next time you run Update Retriever it will just download new drivers.
    5. To initialize TI on each client, copy the program from the Program Files directory and paste a shortcut to the desktop. Then rightclick on the shortcut and choose Properties, and in the target field of the shortcut tab after "C:\Program Files\ThinInstaller\ThinInstaller.exe" add the following: -repository your_UR_download_directory.
    6. Run the Thin installer on each client, it will perform exactly as System Update did, down to making the same mistakes that System Update did.
    7. As the date is getting close when Windows Update will start distributing Vista SP2 you may want to consider using Microsoft's SPBlockerTools preventing SP2 installation for up to 12 months.
    8. Debugging Tips
TI ending with message An error occurred while gathering user information is reported when running under Vista SP2 -- TI will not run in SP2.
Getting TI to "see" the database downloaded by UR is the main problem. If TI ends with a message saying corrupt or not found database you probably made a spelling mistake in the directory specified in the -repository parameter. If TI ends with a message saying no applicable packages to install it can mean a number of things:
    a) If you are unused to modifying the parameters in a shortcut you may have added -repository to the second field in the shortcut tab instead of the top field labeled Target, the two fields look very similar or you just made a typo in "-repository".
    b) Open UR again and first choose Modify settings on the left and double check that the directory there is the same directory you specified in -repository. Then choose Manage repository -- Update view and double check that all packages have status Active. If they don't it's not necessary to download again, just select all and hit the modify button to change status from Test to Active.
    c) In C:\Program Files\ThinInstaller\logs there are update logs from TI. Open one using Notepad and in edit menu search for the string
    Message: 'Share name' to use:
This will tell you in which directory TI is searching for the updates. If it can't find a -repository parameter it uses an empty default databse
    d) If you used System Update regularly up to when it stopped working on April 1 and if you have an older model with not so many new driver updates it may actually happen that there are no new updates for your machine (even though you downloaded a lot.) Go to here and enter all fields except model to see what Lenovo shipped after April 1. (Don't click on driver matrices, staying on the downloads and drivers pages will give you a list in chronological order with the ones after April 1 at the top.)  Also  be aware that the database UR downloads from is at least 2 weeks behind when the drivers first become available on the web. Right now, the only new download in the database  applicable to most notebooks after April 1 is the Access Connections 5.22 driver. To check what release you have installed open Access Connections and go to help.
I just did a clean install of a Vista64 system on my T500 and after installing the first few drivers manually (including drivers for harddisk and ethernet) let Thin Installer install the remaining 36 items for me. The only item left to fix was the known bug in the Ricoh 4 in 1 card driver SU installation. (For a clean install you need to run TI or SU more than once, it doesn't find all drivers the first time.)

Did you change status from test to active in UR before downloading? If not you can change the downloaded items in the manage repository menu.
Assuming the items you did download were not already installed on your client with TI it should work.

While you can access the OLE objects in C#.NET, the JSObject was designed as a bridge to VB.NET. Since the real power of what you can do with Acrobat automation comes from the JSObject, it would be very difficult to do that you want from C#.NET - or you would at least be limited in what you can do beyond basic functionality.
Also, a full version of Adobe Acrobat Standard or Professional would need to be installed on each client system. Reader will not work for what you want to do. Each end user running your application will require an installation of Acrobat.

  • G500 drivers installation order on Windows 7

    Hello,
I just bought this laptop, a G500, model name: 20236 and model number CB03103187.

It came with free dos on it. Which is just fine.
I would like to use my own new copy of windows 7 64-bit.
I will download the drivers from here:
Drivers and software - Lenovo G500 Notebook
    http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS035531
Is there a particular driver installation order ?
I am thinking of doing it in thisorder:
    -Windows 7
    -windows 7 SP1
    -BIOS
    -chipset
    -amd video
    -audio
    -usb device
    -blue tooth

    Do i need these drivers?
    -intel video drivers
    -intel mgmt engine
    -intel rapid storage
    Thank you in advance,

    Hello Gus,
There is no particular driver installation order. I personally firstly install Chipset then Display/Video drivers and after that everything else. Since you have AMD RADEON HD8570M in your machine, you do not have to install the three additional Intel drivers.

  • Seperate OBIEE installation and Weblogic Installation

    Hi,
Our requirement is to setup the HA system in the Production for the OBIEE. We have Admin server as active-passive on the 2 OBIEE instances.
We trying to setup the high availability of the Admin server as per the Oracle Enterprise Deployment guide. If I setup that and manually failover the Admin server the user cannot login if the Admin server is migrated to second application server.
So our next option is to install the weblogic on the NAS shared storage and scale out the OBIEE components on the 2nd Application server so that Active-Passive Admin server can access the same settings on the shared storage. So the question is it possible to separate the weblogic and OBIEE installation directories separately in order to achieve high availability.
    Thanks:
    Apurv.

The URL will be exactly the same as a Windows installation but will have your Unix server name. You will need to learn how to start and stop the OBIEE services and OC4J in Unix. This is pretty well documented on the Infrastructure Installation and Configuration Guide.

I have Satellite P500 too and Im really satisfied with it. I hope you are also happy with your machine.
To be honest I think you should use it with original Win7 64bit version.
As I can see you have an Australian model. I have UK model but I think installation order must be the same. So here it is:

    Intel Turbo Boost Technology Driver
    Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver
    TOSHIBA Supervisor Password Utility

  • Inherited Linksys Voice over IP and data installation.

I have just inherited a brand new linksys, voice over ip data installation. It has roughly 25 telephones and the same number of computers with new WMP300N network cards and SPA941 IP telephones. The company remodeled an old construction with 100% masonry wall (brick and/or concrete). The remodeling included the 100% wireless data and telephone installation. Now that the remodeling is finished and work has started, the network saturates as soon as there are a few users. The computers are all using LinkSys WMP300N cards and the telephones are all LinkSys SPA941. They installed approx 15 wifi repeaters for telephones and 10 for datos. They installed two separate but identical AP's, one for Data and the other for Voice but both on a 192.168.1/24 subnet.(Zonet ZSR1124WE) The folks who installed this didn't, for some reason, use LinkSys AP's and repeaters but used Zonet ZSR1124WE for all.
    My questions are:
    1. Wouldn't using the same subnet be the same and using the same
wire that that would allow voice/telephones to saturate and
slow down the data even though the AP's are separate?
    2. Wouldn't channel interference between the aprox 25
    repeaters be common?
    3. If I were to remove all their equipment (APs and repeaters.)
an install 2 LynkSys AP's in the center of the offices
where there is an open patio with a watt or better amplifier
(not illegal here, not in the U.S.) output and a high gain
antenna on each of the two and using separate networks.
172.16.1/24 for datos and leave 192.168.1/24 for telephones
have a chance at success and if so could you estimate
how much of a change and recommend equipment and/or other
critical or semi-critical points that I have missed?
    Thanks,
    ed
P.S. I have my doubts that this is even possible but it would be cool, if it only worked

Umm.. you left out quite a bit of information:
How are the wired phones connected to the wireless network?
What channels do the APs use and how are they connected in between each other (and other wired data equipment)?
What kind of network is it? B, G, N?
How many WLAN channels are used? One per AP and all repeaters use the channel of the AP they repeat for?
As far as the subnet goes, the current setup shouldn't be a problem - I figure the problems are more likely to come from the wireless than the wired part of your network. Considering that you're basically halfing the throughput with each repeater (assuming the same channel which is likely since there are only 3 that do not interfere unless you have an A network) - the sheer number of repeaters is most likely to be blamed for the poor performance. Traditional WLAN networks generally use a wired backbone, plus you'd have a single net and use one of the three distinct channels in order to minimize interference.
Increasing the output of the main antenna is also only half of the problem... if you can reach clients that are farther away, those clients will also need the appropriate power output to reach the base again - and those wireless cards are limited in that way.
There are two essential pieces to tracking down a problem with your VoIP equipment:
The configuration of every device involved
    SIP protocol traces
And don't forget: there's no such thing as giving too much information when describing a problem.

  • Java - difference between "critical" and "software installer

I would like to push out the latest java updates to out workstations via ZCM patch management, however I am confused be the difference between the update packages available. The machines are windows 7 with ZCM v11.2.0 and already have a (slightly older) JRE installed on them. The ZPM java package labeled as impact type "critical" states the following in the notes:
"All web browsers are required to be shut down in order for Java JRE to be updated successfully"
The ZPM package labeled as impact type "software installer" has nearly identical installation notes, save for no web browser must be not running disclaimer like above.
Since 95% of our user base in the school district is most likely going to be using a web browser at any given time, I would give the success probability of the "critical" option as very low. Is it OK to use the "software installer" impact package? Is it truly not dependent on browsers being closed, or was that an oversight in the notes? What method do any of you use for reliable java updates?

I stopped using ZPM for Java and Flash installs. I actually right an AutoIT script that I deploy out to my laptops via bundle. It closes the browsers, uninstalls older versions of Java, and then installs the latest version I provide. What I found on some of our Java (browsers) based apps, specifically the gradebook and attendance programs, the ZPM deployment would install the latest with the older versions as well. This caused masive issues with after three updates those programs stop working.
I still have some deployment issues where a teacher will have java based failures or a failure to install the latest version correctly. But compaired to what was done before I have cut my failures in half if not more.
Nice thing is I can still view the Patch deployment in Patch Management as this deployment method is in process.

freezing few minutes after laptop startup, unabling to run CHKDSK on C:).
Reading this forum it seems to me these aren't new issues for Toshiba users.

    Hi, friends.
I've installed the the Flash Card Support Utility. In effect, now the function keys work. ;) <img class="emoticon" border="0" alt="" />
Unfortunately it seems that problems are hard to die. The Laptop, in fact, keeps freezing, tipically but not exclusively, after resuming from suspension due to lid closing. System can stucks during windows login or after a while that user is logged on.
During these days i've discovered that SPTD.exe x64 v.1.74 (Daemon Tools) and Nod32 x64 makes impossible launching chkdsk on %SystemDrive% (countdown stucked on 1 and hdd led blinked with very short ON state). However, even without installing those, it seems that one is not able to break the countdown (that windows shows before it starts chkdsk) pressing a key.
But maybe I should open a new topic for talcking about this.

  • Installation order of ilife '05 for os 10.3.9

    1. Someone somewhere indicated that there is a proper installation order for the components of ilife '05... but I can't seem to find hide nor hare of that commentary again.
    Can you help?
    2. Also, what happens to all of the photos, .mov files, and itunes that i have working with the present software? Do I need to move them over or ??? after installation of the ilife '05?

    Judy,
My responses to your questions are posted in reverse order, because I want to emphasize that you must have full backups for all of your Photos/Movies/iTunes before you begin the installation procedure. If you have properly backed up the files, there is no need to move them before or after the installation. As long as you have your original files in their default locations the individual iLife applications will automatically import the files when they are opened for the first time.
    2. As I indicated, you do not need to move them as long as you make sure that all of your Photos/Movies/iTunes are backed up before you begin the installation.
    1. As Templeton stated, installation order is irrelevant. I recall seeing the post that you mentioned, but that installation also included a system upgrade. The iLife '05 installer will choose the correct installation order. After the installation is complete you will find that Software Update will have updates available for each one of the iLife applications. Allow Software update to determine the proper installation order.
    Enjoy iLife '05
