PCo 2.0.1.8 to MII 12.1.5

Hi ..
Trying to create a UDC dataserver to PCo from MII 12.1..
I know the IP address where PCo is installed,
How can I obtain the port number of the agent instance?
Appreciate your help.
Thanks,
Ajay.

If you are using 2.0.x the OPC Source is read-only.
If you are using 2.1.0.8, the OPC Agent Instance port is configured in the Communication tab for the Agent Instance.  Check the MII Source System type and assign a unique port number under Properties.  Set Authentication to None for now.  Start the Agent Instance after saving changes, and MII should be able to find the Agent source by IP:Port.

  • Synchronize MII transaction - only one running instance at a time

    Hello,
I have a scenario where I use an MII transaction triggered by PCO, and it may be the case that the same PCO notification triggers this transaction twice within a very short time, i.e., the second transaction instance starts its execution before the first instance has finished. But I really need to make sure that those calls are done one after the other and that they do not overlap.
What is the best way to achieve this? Which MII technologies can I use? I do not want to use message services and schedule a job that handels the requests one after the other - I need real time action and  in this case I would need to schedule the Job every second. Im really looking for a kind of semaphore/mutex solution to make sure that the MII transaction call can be fired by PCO and in case the previous transaction call is still running, the current one should wait until the previous one has finished.
Thank you for your input and ideas!
    Best Regards,
    Matthias

    Hi Steve,
    1. The PCO notification will be triggered when a PLC counter increases (which is actually the trigger that another piece has been produced on one of our production lines) - this happens in average every 10 to 15 seconds, but due to some special setup it can be the case that 2 or 3 consecutive pieces come out at the end of the line immediately one after the other, followed by a larger pause.
    2. The expected duration of the MII transactoin will be approx. 2 to 3 seconds.
    3. The exact software versions we use are PCO 2.1.6.1 and MII 12.1.9.123.
to be precise, the serialization of the transactiona does not need to be for all instances, but only for instances of the same production line, i.e., transactions of different lines may run at the same time, but for a single production line the transaction calls must not overlap.
The reason is the following: We want to implement a "difference posting" of produced pieces: each PCO message holds the  PLC counter value, and in the MII transaction I want to refer to the counter of the previously produced piece. If the difference is one, everything was OK, one additional piece needs to be recorded in the system. If the difference is greater than one (for the sake of example, lets say 3) I will record 3 new pieces in the system, and if the difference is less than one (wrong order in message delivery, should normally not happen) I will simply ignore the message. This gives us the possibility to not lose data during a PCO outage: PCO is up until PLC counter value 10, is down from PLC counter value 11 to 15, and comes back at PLC counter value 16. When I process the message with counter value 16, I will see that the last processed piece was for counter value 10, therefore I need to create 6 pieces - the 5 I have "lost" plus the current one.
To be able to safely refer to the previously produced piece, there must not be any parallel transaction executions, since then maybe two instances read the same "previous counter" and therefore mess up the collected data.
I hope this gives you an idea what I want to achieve.

  • Processing delay in MII

    Hi,
At one of our customer Plants there is a issue with delayed processing, there is a transaction  "Txn_Schedule_ReplacePCo_Trigger " which is scheduled to run every 6 seconds.First thing this transaction does is to write to the MII Logger with the following message :
Production Order Complete or Partial Confirmation u2013 Pco Txn has been triggered.
After it has processed, it writes the following message to the MII Logger: -
PCo Call for PO complete or Partial Confirmation u2013 Pco success
On the 29 03 2011 , the message PCo Call for PO complete or Partial Confirmation u2013 Pco success was written on the MII logger at 18:40:34. The next message to be written at 20:04:31 was Production Order Complete or Partial Confirmation u2013 Pco Txn has been triggered. It appears for some reason (not yet known) the PCOtrigger transaction did not run.
Looking at todays MII logger, we can see on average 5 minutes passing before the PCo trigger transaction is submitted, even though it should run every six seconds.
Can someone tell me if we are missing something here.
    Thanks,
    Raveen

Have you checked the Transaction Manager logs to see if all the transactions ran and completed?
Any particular reason you are trying to execute confirmations every 6 seconds?  For this particular plant, are there issues with the connection to the ECC system (network slowness or interruptions)?

  • Pco monitoring issue.

    Hi Experts,
I m trying to achieve Pco monitoring in SAP MII 14.0. I m refering following document:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_pco21/helpdata/en/f2/b1d0e885284db2baabef7eea15373e/content.htm
I m able to do the Alert Configuration using active monitoring.
But what condition should i check in MII transaction or which parameter from remote monitoring will tell me that PCo is down?
I want to send e-mail once PCo is down.
I have enabled the active monitoring and configured the MII system and got test connecttion as success.
I am able to see the all projects in MII server . I configured the transaction and input variable (xml). After click on ok ,getting success message.
After that I could not see any trx in transaction manager.
I made dataserver connection to pco as error but still I could not see the configured trx in transation manager.
Pls suggest me to overcome this issue.
    Configuration:
    SAP MII 14.0
    PCO 2.3 SP3
    Regards,
    Raj.

    Hi Raj,
Question: But what condition should i check in MII transaction or which parameter from remote monitoring will tell me that PCo is down?
Answer: The MII Transaction will called only when the PCo agent goes down or not able to connect to its source system. So you need not check anything in MII. The input param of the MII transaction will receive the error detection time-stamp and the node name (PCo instance or PCo and agent instance).
Question: I made dataserver connection to pco as error but still I could not see the configured trx in transation manager
Answer: Making the MII PCo data server go down or disabling it will not execute the alert or call the configured MII transaction. When the PCo agent is not able to connect to its source system then the configure MII transaction will be called.
Hope that these clarifications will clear your doubts.

  • SAP PCO Socket Connection VS HyperTerminal

    Hi All,
We're trying to process an IP Barcode Scanner message using PCo notifications. How should I configure the subscription item / notification so that the received message is captured as using the HyperTerminal software?  Is there any documentation we should be aware of?
    Many Thanks,
    Paul Radulescu

    Hi Steve,
We did our tests this morning. The source socket connection settings are below:
I also attached a small log (FScan_Gi.txt) around one scan, where the alert is being raised, and the message is being sent to the destination system dummy transaction which only writes the file in the MII Web space (i.e. FS_msg_03.xml)
My take on the multiple streams is that the scanner we used is a fixed industrial type one. The label being scanned contains multiple barcodes and the scanner scans all of them at once, delimiting the message with some CONTROL CHARACTERS, giving some headaches going forward.
If I define an XML query and read the message saves "as is" by the dummy transaction above, I get a nice, but firm message :
which comes from the control characters inserted by the scanner between the barcodes. PCo transmits the message as is, MII saves it as is, but when I try to open and process it .. I can't. Opening it in a transaction in workbench using the text-loader gives me a "prolog" error
Funny. I feel like I get the best out of it sometimes
Definitely I have to get rid of those control characters .. even by truncating the message. There are three barcodes being scanned, I presently need only the last one .. so my question is .. Can I use the expression editor and look for the message content after the "~" sign in the string over there (see FS_msg_03.xml) with something like stringpart('Fscan_GI', ~-location, length-of-the-string-after-~) I code below ?
I have to wait again for the scanner to be available next Tue and test this without copy-pasting the content in the Value box above, but are you envisioning any possible "prolog" errors in the PCo log this time?
    Cheers,
    Paul.

    Hi
Please check if under Selected Agent Instance->Query Port tab you have checked the MII  checkbox   and provided unique port ?
    Please note that,
If you are using an SAP MII system of release 12.2 or higher in connection with PCo, you need to select theSAP MII checkbox.
If you are using an SAP MII system below 12.2, you need to select the MII before 12.2 checkbox.

  • Error in creating PCO Connector in SAP MII 14.0

    Hello,
We have successfully installed SAP PCo 2.3 in one of the servers. This PCo Server is independent of the server on which MII Application is installed. So DCOM had to be done and it was achieved successfully.
On PCo Server, in management console, we were successfully able to add Source System - PHD as shown below:
After that I created an instance of Source system and kept it running.
Now when I am trying to create a PCo Connector in MII 14.0, I am getting following error:
So I have few questions about it:
    1) Am I missing any configuration step?
    2) Is it mandatory to setup Destination System in Management Console as MII. I am getting an error while configuring MII system as destination system. Error is as follow:
    3) Is it any per-requisite to Create a PCo Connector in MII?
    4) Is there anyway I can browse the tags from Management Console only without using MII just to check connection to PHD?
Any help in this matter will be really helpful and will be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Soham

    Hi Rohit,
I checked and found that PCo Mgmt service was not started. SO I started it and now I am able to get the XML when I open PCO Mgmt URL in the browser of PCo Server
    But,
When my agent is running, I don't get Browse button enabled in "Subscription Items" tab.
When I stop the agent instance, I can see Browse button enabled in "Subscription Items" tab. But when I click on browse, it gives me following error:
    Not sure what's wrong?

  • How to read the tag values sent by PCo to MII transaction

    Hi everybody,
I have an Agent created inside PCo and its listening to a data server. I have also created a notification object which triggers my MII Transaction (after certain condition is getting fulfilled).
Now, I want to pass certain values from PCo to MII using the notification object. For this I have tried 2 options:
    1. I defined one input parameter in transaction of type 'XML'. But this did not work. When I used 'Tracer' to check the received values, it showed empty.
    2. Since XML variable did not work, I tried with 'String' variable. It worked but the entire input data was in 'String' format.
Actually I used XML_Saver to save the string and given filename as '.xml'. When I opened that xml file, it was looking like this:
    <<unable to write XML here>>
Considering the above 2nd option, how can I extract the particular 'Tag' values from XML string. Since the string is not in the format of 'Rowset/Row/Row', I cannot specifically assign/map those tag values to any other variable inside MII transaction.
    ===========

Hi, I was trying to post the xml string. It was not possible yesterday (because, SDN editor has converted xml part into some irregular string).
Now, I am trying to post the string by removing the special characters. Please try to understand it.
Now, my question is how to retrieve the CDATA value 5599999999 using xpath. Please help.

  • MII 11.5 and PCo 2.1 and Tag Query Error

    Hi,
I have KEPWare OPC server configured with a single tag, and with the OPC Client open.  I have PCo 2.1 configured with a single agent, and 'legacy' ticked with port 9001.  I have a UDS connector pointing to port 9001, and a tag query in 'currentwrite' mode, and can successfully write a value from the query editor (within MII 11.5) to KEPWare, when tested directly within the MII query editor.
However, when I call the same tag query from within an MII transaction, and set 'TagName.1' and 'TagValue.1' to the values I want, I get the following error:
"An item with the same key has already been added. at SAP.Manufacturing.Connectivity.Protocol.Custom.PCoQueryRequestHandler.ProcessRequest(Object handler)"
I see this error in the PCo log.
Interesting thing is, that within the transaction editor, when I select the underlying tag query, and the editor asks to generate the XML, and I say Yes, the underlying tag query runs fine (I can see the value getting updated within KEPWare).
I've also tried with/without subscription items in PCo, plus different settings for 'Cache Mode' in PCo, plus using fully qualified tag name (ie: channel.device.tag as KEPWare sees it), etc, but in all cases I get the above error.
    Any ideas?

    Hi Diana,
I upgraded to PCo V2.1.4.2, still same issue.  And yes, the data server (UDC) is checked as "Writable"!!
    As mentioned, the tag query runs fine in both "Current" mode and "CurrentWrite" mode.  Only when I call the same query from a transaction do I see this error.  Excerpt from Runner Log below;

If I leave the transaction Tag Query action (that calls the underlying tag query) without any assignment to TagValue.1, then there is no error, and the error as set in the aunderlying tag query is used.  But as soon as I assign values to TagValue.1 inside the transaction, I get the error.  I've tried passing a value via a local paramater etc, same issue.

  • PCo 2.3 Authorization Error while connecting to MII 14.0

    Hi All,
We are trying to connect MII 14.0(installed on HP-UX[Unix] system) with PCo 2.3 (installed on Windows 2003 R2 SP2 system). Both MII & PCo servers are on same network. When we are trying to configure the PCo details in MII Data Servers using the link(http://<PCOServerIP:Port>/PCoManagement) , its connecting and we can see the Agents created in PCo. Also when the the PCo connector is enabled in MII, the status is showing green.
When we try to retrieve the tags using PCo Query TagRetrieveQuery, No tags shows up in MII and an error message is displayed. The MII Log shows lots of errors starting with "Authorization Error PCo". This error shows up when we are configuring the PCo details. To be exact this error shows up after entering the PCo link and clicking on Next button and entering the UserName & Password for the PCo system . Attached is the screen shot of the log error.
The user-id for the system on which PCo is installed has administrator privileges. The Net. TCP Port sharing services is also started on the PCo server.
Any other services need to started in the PCo server or anything we missed out? Is there any another service which needs to be activated for Web service?
PCo is connected to OSISoft PI using PI SDK 1_3_6_364.
We have tried applying SP's available for PCo 2.3 and still facing the same issue. In-fact we are facing more issues when we apply SP's for PCo. The tag list which shows up on PCo during Subscription Items > Browse, reduces and only few tags which are not required gets displayed in PCo.
    MII Version   : 14.0
    PCo Version : 2.3
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi Rohit,
Sorry for the delayed reply. I already checked by ensuring the PCoManagement host and Agent instance services are started. I can see the status as Running "green" when the PCo data server is enabled at the MII end. But the problem is, no tags shows-up in the PCoQuery TagRetriveQuery mode. The logs start with this Authorization Error PCo "You do not have permission to access the Web Service". The PCo Server user-id has local Admin rights.
Is there any other specific service need to be activated?

  • PCo integration with MII and MES

    Hi,
How is PCo placed in MII and ME Achitecture. Can PCo directly connects to Shopl floor systems? and how it is connected to MES system. IS this something like Shop floor>PCo->MII->ME->ERP?
Can someone please make me understand?
    Thanks,
    Raveen

    Hi,
as per my knowledge MII helps to interface between MES (if it is installed) and ERP.
    if we consider levels then
all the PLCs are in level 1.
all the scada,Historian are in level 2,
MES and database in level 3,
    and ERP in level 4.
MII is between level 3 and level 4,
it helps to interface this two level.
as I know PCO can configured with MII. PCO help to create that connectivity between the tag value coming from the scada historian system and MII.

    Suman

  • MII 12.1 and PCo 2.1.5.1

    Hi guys,
Hopefully this will be easy points for someone.  I am trying, for the first time, to connect our MII 12.1 to a newly install PCo 2.1.5.1.
I also have a Phoenix Contact OPC DA server installed on the PCo server and (I think) I have PCo configured to see the Phoenix server.
All I am trying to do now is configure MII to be able to do a TAG query through PCo.  I tried creating a UDC Data Server (no PCo option was available).  I used the PCo server's IP address and, at this point, I have tried a variety of ports (not sure how to tell which is correct).
Can someone please point me in the right direction or point me toward some documentation that might be helpful?
Note that we have successfully been using MII 11.5 talking to UDS and a Phoenix OPC server.  We are trying to get the same kind of thing working with MII 12.1 and PCo.
    Thank you!
    -Mike

Using the same 11.5 UDC data server configuration in your 12.1 system should also work (12.1 tag query pointing to the already running UDS).
Swapping the data server port and IP address (or just port if they are on the same server) should allow you to toggle your 12.1 application tests between the UDS serviing up the OPC data as compared to PCO.
