Pdf files on iPhone

I am using a UIWebView to display pdf files. Everything works fine.
Is there a way to position the pdf document to a specific page. For example if the document has 3 pages, I would like to open the document starting at the second page, not the first one.
Thanks

Download the application Files Lite to your iPhone. It allows you to use your phone as a flash drive.
Download the pdf file to your computer.
when you open Files Lite on your iPhone it lists a address "http://10.0.1.2:8080" you can go to that address in your computer web browser and transfer a file, but by using a WebDAV program you can send a whole folder at a time.
(I use Netdrive, there are other programs to link, but this is the one I use; it works well and is free!)
Download Netdrive to your computer and install it
http://www.netdrive.net/download.html
When you open NetDrive give it a site name I use TITNTUFF's IPhone
Site IP or URL http://10.0.1.2:8080
Port 8080
Server Type WebDAV
Drive i use Z
click connect
In windows:
an explorer window will pop up for the z drive and you can copy, paste delete as if you are using a flash drive. When you finish you disconnect.
Use Files Lite on your IPhone to open the pdf. You can scroll, bookmark, delete. It supports music, pdf, jpg, doc, xls, html, rtf, and other files
The Files Lite limits to about 300 MB, the paid version limits are your phone's empty space.
Please post your results. It is not as complex as these instructions suggest and works fantastic.
Enjoy

  • How do I sync a PDF file between iPhone and iPad in iBooks?

    How do I sync a PDF file between iPhone and iPad in iBooks?

    If the PDF supports it then you can try opening the PDF in iBooks on your phone and use the 'share' icon (the square with the upward pointing arrow) to email it to yourself (some PDFs a protected and don't support emailing) and use 'open in' in the Mail app on your iPad to copy it to its Mail app.
    Or you can connect the phone to your computer's iTunes and do File > Devices > Transfer Purchases to copy it over to your iTunes (that should copy PDFs and/or epubs that are in the iBooks app, not just ibooks) and if using a Mac with Mavericks or Yosemite on it then do File > Move Books From iTunes in its  iBooks app, and you can then sync it to your iPad.

    Yup, restarted my system. First thing I did was open Firefox and try to open a .pdf.

  • Loading pdf file from iPhone Documents folder into a UIWebView

    I'm currently trying to include the ability for my App to download a "pdf" file from the web,... display the image in a UIWebView,.. save it to the iPhone,... and later redisplay it in the same UIWebView while "off line". I've been able to do everything but get the web view to load/display the stored pdf file. The App finds the .pdf file...
    Here's the path it finds in the Simulator...
    Image File Path: /Users/FCR/Library/Application Support/iPhone Simulator/User/Applications/8E29ACDF-4A56-4AC2-BFA0-C4F8E00E1481/Documents/AD_K EWR.pdf
    ... but I'm not much into html and can't seem to come up with a url scheme to load the image. I've tried several attempts using the URL... "file:///" ... but so far haven't been able to get the file (which is in the iPhone's Documents folder) to display. I seem to be about one line short of a workable solution.
    Can anyone offer a bit of code (help) to accomplish this seemingly easy task of displaying it in the UIWebView?... It would be much appreciated!

    Can you please post the code snippet used to download and save the PDF to the iPhone? I did not know you could do that.

    Ed,... Here's the code ... I've cut and pasted from a couple different routines, but you should get the point...
    Ric
    - (BOOL)downloadPDF:(NSString *)pdfFileName
    // Download a (pdf) file
    BOOL success = NO;
    NSString *urlStr = \[NSString stringWithFormat:@"http://... web path to file .../%@", pdfFileName\];
    if(urlStr)
    NSURL *PDF_URL = \[NSURL URLWithString:urlStr\];
    NSMutableData *receivedData = \[NSData dataWithContentsOfURL: PDF_URL\];
    if(receivedData)
    success = YES;
    NSLog(@"PDF downloaded... Save it to file: %@",pdfFileName);
    NSArray *paths = NSSearchPathForDirectoriesInDomains (NSDocumentDirectory, NSUserDomainMask, YES);
    if (paths.count > 0)
    NSString *documentsDirectory = \[paths objectAtIndex:0\];
    NSString *filePath = \[documentsDirectory stringByAppendingPathComponent: pdfFileName\];
    if(\[receivedData writeToFile:filePath atomically:YES\])
    success = YES;
    NSLog(@"Saved file: %@",filePath);
    else
    NSLog(@"Failed to save PDF to: %@",filePath);
    return success;

    Hi there @Delta0  and welcome to the community!
    I understand you can scan however, you cannot open up the PDF file afterwards.
    Please let me know which operating system you are running and I will certainly look into this issue for you.
    Which Windows Operating System am I running?
    Mac OS X: How Do I Find Which Mac OS X Version Is on My Computer?
    In the meantime, try updating Adobe to see if that helps.

    I view PDF files (along with other file types) with an App called FILES. It cost £2.99 but is well worth it if you have the need to view files on the move. Files are added on to the iPhone via a WIFI connection, once there are transferred, you do not need a WIFI connection to view the added files, they are viewable anytime.
    If you look on iTunes or the developers website http://www.olivetoast.com/Files/ it tells you what files it will view.
    Here's a description of what the FILES App can do:
    Files allows you to store and view files on your iPhone or iPod touch. Connect to Files via Wi-Fi from any Mac or PC and drag and drop files straight from the Finder or Windows Explorer, as you would with any other shared folder. In fact any client which understands the WebDAV protocol can connect to Files.
    Set a passcode to secure local access to Files, and a username and password to secure remote access.
    Files supports viewing of most common file types, including most Microsoft Office documents, PDF, RTF and RTFD documents, images, text, html, movie and audio files. You can quickly and easily read documents and view images, all fullscreen and in portrait or landscape mode. Zoom and pan via the standard pinch and swipe gestures.
    Add bookmarks to longer documents; use search to find and filter files easily; delete unwanted documents with a simple swipe and tap; set a username and password to secure your data; Files has it all covered.
    With Files you can take documents with you wherever your iPhone or iPod touch goes, view them and transfer them easily to any compatible Mac or PC.

  • Find and Replace Japanese characters in pdf file on iPhone

    Hi eveybody !
    I want to find and replace Japanese characters in pdf on iPhone.
    I using zlib to deflate stream - endstream block and extract text.It's work fine with latin-text.
    But when i work with japanese characters , I don't know how to do it ?
    I decode a sample japanese pdf file, and I know that each Japanese characters are performances as hex string : "<01b7><0e230a23>..."
    But i don't know how to convert Japanese characters to the hex string like that.
    Can evrybody help me?
    Thanks!

    Searching is the same process as extracting - since it's about turning page content into something understandable.  So that still remains what you need to learn/understand - of course, referring back to all the previous sections about font formats, etc.
    Replacing in PDF is EXTREMELY DIFFICULT for two reasons - subset fonts and explicit glyph positioning.  Have you determine (conceptually, if nothing else) how you plan to addresses these two issues?
    PDF doesn't do UTF8 for page content - so don't worry about that.

  • Splitting PDF files for iPhone

    Is there any way to split large, protected pdf files to work with Quickoffice on the iPhone? Quickoffice has no "go to" page function making it very difficult to read a large document. I don't want to change anything in the file, just put the file into bite size pieces.
    Thanks

    I've done this using a program called PDFKey Pro. It's a paid app, though you may also find free alternatives.

  • How can I take info from a PDF file on iPhone 5.

    Hi
    I get work related PDF files on my I phone 5
    But to take the telephone number off the viewing file island put it into the phone is very cumbersome especially when out all day.
    On my bb I could see the viewing file and text version which would allow me to call the number straight from there.
    Is there a way of doing this on the I one 5 please !Thanks

    Yes. It's such a pain to copy and paste the number in the PDF file and put into the phone. Bb would high light the number and call.
    Is there a way to view the file as text. When you get an SMS if someone sends a number it's highlighted. You tap it and you get option to call or cancel. Thats what i need from the PDF please

  • Unable To Open PDF Files On IPhone

    Ever PDF File received via Email are unable to be opened. Comes up with a message saying not a valid PDF File. How do I get this to work?

    Can you please share a sample file at the email address listed above? The desktop Reader is pretty forgiving and will often display PDF that is invalid. In general, our Mobile Reader is less lenient, though when we encounter files that the desktop product allows but we do not, we make an attempt to be similarly lenient. A sample file will help!
