I have Adobe 10.0.01.When I try to open .PDF files received in Microsoft Outlook I get an "opening mail attachment" window saying only opne from trusted sources . when I continue I get another window saying Windows default with a language selected as Western European and the display of the file is essentially "gibberish" of apparently numbers and characters. hope this gets to you OK this time

I have used Acrobat 11 on a Macbook Air using both OX X,9 and X.10 without issue. Can I ask which version of Acrobat 11 you are using and what version of OS X? Additionally, are you seeing a freeze or a spinning pizza wheel of death. I have an older machine in which the spinning pizza wheel occurs whenever it feels like and I can wait for minutes before it returns control to me.

PDF file opens in a browser window.

I am creating a page in Dreamweaver that has a bunch of links that contain animations. The animations were created first in Powerpoint then saved as a PDF file so the user would still be able to perform the animations yet keep them from being copied.
When you click on the link to the PDF file the file opens in a web browser with the browser menu bar and I cannot see the PDF menu bar at the top like "FILE, EDIT, VIEW, DOCUMENT, COMMENTS, etc.
How do I get the file to open and still be able to use the menu bar at the top?

You can't control that, it is determined by the visitors browser configuration and whether or not they have a PDF browser plugin. In your case, it sounds like you don't have the Adobe PDF plugin for the browser you are using. You might want to try reinstalling Adobe again. This shouldn't be a problem for most visitors. What browser are you using?

Illustrator extention export PDF file as PSD worked on Windows XP but not on Windows 7

We have a extension that convert files to CMYK PSD with color profile attached. It worked fine (for most of files) on Windows XP but not on Windows 7.

above code never throw any exception on Windows7, but just no file been saved. It only happened to convert PDF to PSD.
If I manually open file in Illustrator (win7) and export it as PSD, I got ‘not enough memory’ error. I googled a solution make the manual exporting worked but still the extension didn’t work.
The solution for manual operation is set ‘additional plug-in folder’ for preferences-> plug-ins& Scratch disks’.
Any advice?

I apologize for not having an answer. I just wanted to chime in and say that I am having the exact same issue. I have never had this before. It's happened ever since I had my hard drive replaced and Illustrator has been reinstalled, so I am assuming that it's a preference somewhere that I have missed?

I get unwanted massive page downloads to my download PDF file every time I attempt to download something I want; this download takes over my MacBook and I have to force quite to stop the download.

This started happening after I attempted to download my property tax report from the county. I will get the page I actually wanted to download but I also get page after page of unwanted material downloaded to my MacBook. The only way I can stop the massive page download is to force quite the MacBook and then restart it and delete all the unwanted pages.

I have updated my firefox files as directed, is there anything else I can or should do?

HTML Container - pdf-file opens a new window

I use the ITS Webservice PZ04.
There is included a html container who shows the pdf-file inside this area.
Now I have the effect, that this pdf-file will opena a new window, but not inside the html container!?
First action before I have had this effect was the MS question-alert 'How you will open this file' Open/Download/Cancel - you know. - it never done before -
What can I do to open my pdf-file inside the html container? It runs some times.

I don't open the iView in a new window.
I open the iView (as IAC WebService via ITS) and the applacation generated a html container with pdf file!
And this pdf-file opens in a new window.
The Application runs up to now very good.
I think any value was changed and I don't know which.
It's possible the modification solved under MS or adobe!?
Solution: First Deinstallation and then Installation of Acrobate Reader.

CREATING A PDF THAT OPENS TO 'FIT IN WINDOW'

Using InDesign (I'm CS2) is it possible to create a pdf with a default setting so that no matter who opens it (with Acrobat) it will open to 'fit in window'?
Is this a creator defined attribute?
I know that one can set their preferences in Acrobat so that all files open to 'fit in window'. But is there something that InDesign can do to insure this will happen no matter the end user's preference settings?
If not, is there a cheat? Is there a default dimension that will assuredly open to fit in someone's window? In other words, I would use this cheat for all e-mailed versions of the file.

I received three files in Microsoft Outlook in a PDF format. When I clicked on open I got a window showing "Opening Mail Attchment" and only open from "trusted" sources. After opening it displayed a window for File conversion with Windows as the default with Western European( Windows) as I assume the font. The file was shown but had essentially meaningless characters and numbers with maybe the occasional meaningful word. There seems no way to understand why this happened or to correct it. There should be an H&R block format. Windows or no.
Just like JPEG or MP3 is a format readable by Mac or PC.
The main cause of PC vsWindows files issues is in "text only" files that require "line terminators". Windows line terminaotrs are <CR><LF>, UNIX is <LF>, Mac can be <CR> or a <LF>. The text editors that are PC-files-only cannot properly read text lines terminated with <LF> only.

Whenever there is a pdf file open in one of the tabs then I can't use the scrolling (of my touchpad) in any other tab in FF4. How can this be corrected?

Even if one of the open tabs contain a .pdf file opened in it, then I can't scroll the pages down in any other tab. Irrespective of which tab is active, the pages in the pdf get scrolled. :(
I've tried to reinstall the Firefox, but that hasn't helped. In fact the problem continues even after I've done a complete system format.

My workaround for this problem is to open the tabbed pdf document into a new Firefox window (Right-Click tab --> Move to New Window) which unlocks scrolling capabilities for all tabs in your original window.

Acrobat 9.5.5 multiple .pdf files open without toolbars displaying

Recently, I noticed that, when I open one .pdf file, all toolbars I have selected as customized are displayed. But, upon opening additional ,pdf files, those files do not display my toolbars at the top - only the file menu shows up. If I try to close the limited toolbar files, I get the error "Adobe Acrobat 9.5 has stopped working," and the programs aborts. I've searched the web to no avail for a solution. My work requires I have multiple Adobe files open, but these additional files have extremely limited functionality without the toolbars.
Event Viewer indicates the following errors:
Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 9.0\Acrobat\Acrobat.exe
Faulting module path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 9.0\Acrobat\Acrobat.dll
I'm running Win 7 Pro 64-bit, on Intel i7, with 14 GB RAM, 224GB SSD/68 GB free. My system should more than amply support the application.
My thought is a recent Adobe update or Windows update caused this anomaly. Has anyone else experienced this issue? Please advise - I'm desperate for a resolution. Thanks.

Update - when you select View -Toolbars on the additional files, all the customized toolbars are check-marked, so they should be displaying. But, they don't.

Thank you for your reply. Your recommendation is not the issue for sure. I had tested by opening numerous files on my system, which I know are not secure. The first file opened with all toolbar functionality, and the rest of the files opened in limited view. These are files I've created and opened numerous times in the past with no issues, until recently.
I've since installed Adobe Pro XI Trial, as well as a couple other .pdf maker apps. I had already remove Adobe Pro 9.5.5, so I can't reinstall while I have XI on my system - the installation aborts. My assessment, after spending hours researching it, is that there's a conflict in my OS and 9.5.5. At this point, I have to cut my losses (time & billable hours) and move onto a more stable, dependable application. It's probably not going to be an Adobe product, sad to say. Too many issues, too little accessible and timely support.

Why can't I scroll or use MMB to open pages in new tab, when I have a PDF file opened in FF4?

If I have a PDF file opened in firefox 4, I am for unknow reason unable to open pages in new tabs with MMB or scroll thepage up or down. The scroll function isn't working at all, and it seems like I'd be scrolling the PDF file, not the page of my current tab.

-1712 is a timed out error. One reported cause (with other applications) is that the application is attempting to open a large number of files, or a file that no longer exists.
Try holding down the shift key when launching preview. This prevents the application from attempting to open windows that were not closed before quitting the application.

An other way is to copy the pdf with Windows explorer into the path /documents of the phone. Open Office and choose Adobe Reader. The pdf will be copyed in the Sandbox of the Reader and You may read it. You may delete the PDF in the documents path. It will still be in the Readers sandbox. All without any cloud ;-)!
