Pdf in jsp page

Hi ,
I need to create a pdf file using jsp in which i need to print values from database. and i need to print one by one. plz its very urgent.
Thanks in advance..

Hi,
First of all i need to let you know that you will need to do a bit of research inorder to understand what i am saying if you are not familiar with XML/XSLT.
You can use XML,XSLT inorder to do the transformation of your data fetched from database to a PDF file.
Basically you will need to fetch data from the DB and create a xml file dynamically. Then you need to create a XSL-FO file for the formatting and display for your PDF which you can add as a file in any of the package.

  • How to generate report in pdf format through a JSP page

I require to generate my report from my JSP page into a PDF format . How can i do it?

Use a Java API which can create PDF files based on some collection of plain vanilla Java objects (List, String, Number, etc).
Google can find them all. Just feed it with something like "Java PDF API" or so. A commonly used one is iText.
That said, when talking about this in JSP context, ensure that you do NOT write raw Java code in JSP files using scriptlets. Raw Java code belongs in Java classes. In such case you need a Servlet. In JSP just use taglibs and EL to interact with backend Java code and data. Scriptlets are discouraged since over a decade.

  • I used tag to show PDF file inside my JSP page, It is working properly in IE but nothing shows in Mozilla. What should I do?

I've used to display a PDF file inside my JSP page. It is working fine in IE. However, many of users of this application are using Mozilla and the platform is Ubuntu so it is vital that the file is shown in Mozilla as well. How can I solve this problem.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== I run my jsp page

Such conditional code will only work in IE and not in other browsers like Firefox.

  • How to place download link on jsp page to download files eg. Download PDF

    Hi,
I have made an appliaction in struts 2 which creates PDF,its working fine now i want to place a link on my jsp page from where i can click and download that PDF file which i have created and store on my local location. Also i want to to know can i place links on my jsp page to download other type of files if i want to give link on my page to download Images or songs how can i do that,
    Help plzzzzzzzzzzzz

IF You are using jsf then simply <h:outputLink value="file:///D:/Me/Image000.jpg"/>. This generates HTML <a> tag and value attribute replacing with <a> tag's href attribute. If you are using other technologies try to find which tag generates HTML <a> tag.
I think You also can simply place HTML <a> tag wherever You want

I have Adobe Acrobat professional 5.0 installed in my Linux machine.

    Is your problem
-. That a new browser window doesn't open?
    Solution: [Lookup the 'target' attribute|http://www.w3schools.com/HTML/html_links.asp]
    - That your file content isn't streaming to the browser?
Solution: Your code assumes the browser understands and supports samba. This isn't always the case (IE for example). And you're providing a direct link to your file with the username and password - security concerns as well as possible portability issues. You'd be better off writing a [file servlet to download your files|http://www.google.com/search?q=file+download+servlet]

  • How to convert a JSP page into a PDF file?

I am calculating and generating a bill in JSP?
I want the output JSP page from the server to get converted to a PDF file.
    How to do this?
    Please help me doing this!

    Hai CeciNEstPasUnProgrammeur
Actually I didnt mean what you are asking?
I will put it in this way,
I am having a JSP output.
If I save that page in the browser it should get
    saved as a PDF File,
This is my problem,As far as I can see, you have two options:
    1) Ensure you have some kind of rendering tool installed on the server, render your JSP to that engine, capture the output as an image and transform the image to a PDF. Or a variation on that server-side theme.
    2) Take the data you would be/are pushing into a JSP, offer a "download" facility that just takes that data and wraps it into a PDF. Your server then serves out that PDF file.
To save the browser view (your JSP) as a PDF each client machine would need to be set up with some mechanism to capture and save as PDF. You can't control that.
I've had to do something similar in the past. In that case though we had a simplar task of just generating a stored HTML file that we could store in the DB and lock down. Our approach was to use XSLT over the generated XML data structure.
I'd advise you doing the same and generating an XML file and then running an XSLT/FO process over it to generate your PDF file. Don't try to do all the fancy stuff on the client environment, that's an environment you usually have very little control over.

    Dear All,
i am building a jsp page that opens a pdf file stored in database. if column type is BLOB, i run the prepareStatement and store in a ResultSet, and then BufferedInputStream(result.getBinaryStream("FILE")). it works. page opens the pdf file.

Failure in java.sql.SQLException: Ongeldig kolomtype.: getBinaryStream not implemented for class oracle.jdbc.driver.T4CNamedTypeAccessor
what more do i do to get a pdf(or txt, msword..) file to jsp page and open it?

I have quite a lot of reports developed in JSP pages. Now based on requirement we have to make this reports available in PDF also. I cold make it in Excel or Word Doc using setContextType. How can I make it into PDF format dynamically?
    Thanks

iText is a good option, well documented, good support and free.
Another option is JFreeReport, which can generate formatted reports in PDF format (in fact using iText):

    hi,
    thanx for your reply.
ya i have "commons-logging-1.0.2.jar" file but when i tried to put it with other jar files and set the class path and run the application thru tomcat then it automatically stops the tomact.and when i removed this perticular logging jar file then tomcat works normally but gives the error which i mentioned before.
i have also tried the second option u suggested, by putting the LogFactory class files in "C:\Program Files\Apache Tomcat 4.0\webapps\examples\WEB-INF\classes\org\apache\commons\logging" but that was not working.shud i set some classpath for them? or shud i have to import these packages........ but when i copied this folder "org" to C:\Program Files\Apache Tomcat 4.0\webapps\examples\WEB-INF\classes and in program wrote import org.* then copilation error occured "no such package found.
    what to do now.
